Meetings Anew
Date of Scene: 20 September 2023
Location: Fourth Floor: Lounge and Sitting Room
Synopsis: Meetings in the Candle's Lounge
Cast of Characters: Nettie Crowe, Joshua Foley, Gabby Kinney

Nettie Crowe has posed:
The lounge and sitting room is one of Nettie's favorite places to be to people watch -- when there are people, anyway. She was sitting in the wood-screened area with the lanterns aglow, casting multicolor light as she sits against a wall, absorbed in a book. Corvax is nestled into her neck, asleep, and snoring in a way that only a bird can.

Nettie is dressed casually. Black jeans. A black pull-over blouse in cotton that's been washed over decades. Most of her earrings are out and on a saucer in front of her, and a pitcher of something that smells strongly herbal and bitter and is NOT tea is in front of her.

Her phone is sitting in a glass, acting as an amplifier for some peaceful music.

Joshua Foley has posed:
While Nettie is relaxing, Joshus is sprawled out on the floor. Books surround him and he is making note. Turning his attention to Nettie as he rolls over, his golden skin reflecting the light in the room room as he sits up, wearing a shirt and a pair of pajama pants. "When it comes to lingering magic... or repeating damage, what is the best way to handle it? I don't think I can reset it fully without understanding. But at most... maybe stopgap it? So like. Heal, happens again, heal again?" he asks.

"That doesn't sound like it would be very helpful." he admits, his pencil drumming on the pad in beat to the music from Nettie's speaker.

Nettie Crowe has posed:
"Eh, define 'lingering damage' -- physical? Emotional trauma?" Nettie sets down her book, a large tome bound with the skin of 'oh don't you worry about it, pet'. "Also if it's magical in nature, depends on the source. A curse would have to be lifted. A chip from a magical weapon would have to be removed. There's all manner of things which can occur to cause damage, magically." Nettie considers her answer a moment as she rubs at her shoulder with a gloved right hand. "Mental magic is also nothing to play with either, because one wrong inflection can mean the difference between 'surgically removing a memory' and 'landing your subject in the madhouse'

Joshua Foley has posed:
"I don't think I can heal emotional damage." Joshua admits. He leans back and rests on his hands, "I think anything I can do is... purely physical." A frown at that. "Wonder if that means, I couldn't bring back someone that died from a mental break... or if someone hurt themselves because of the same, if I help them, it still does nothing for the underlying problem."

He reaches up, and rubs the bridge of his nose in though. "Sound more and more like I'm just a mutant band-aid." he admits with a laugh. "Or maybe a first aid kit."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney wanders out from the crash space toward the sound of voices. Some fuzzy socks were on that help keep her footsteps quiet, though unintentionally so in this case, and she's wearing her usual cozy leggings, t-shirt, and hoodie. Because it's getting too chilly not to go without socks are you crazy? She's got a pack of Zingers snack cakes in hand that she's tearing open as she enters.

"Hey Nettles, hey Josh. Did I miss anything last few days?" A reasonable question since she'd been gone awhile checking up on her clone sister. Again. Really, any time she was away lately it was that. She was worried about the non-healing member of the family getting into trouble. Having caught part of the convo as she was coming in (she did have fantastic hearing too), she remarks, "Don't knock First Aid kits. They're important for a reason. Keep someone alive long enough so they CAN heal. Even if you can't do it all it gives a chance for more to be done."

Nettie Crowe has posed:
"First aid kits are used to halt the issue until the unlying cause can be resolved. I should know -- nursed through two world wars." Nettie gives a wry smile about that. She's not made any secret about her age for a while around Josh, who is 'unofficially officially' adopted by Nettie and Nettie has made it common knowledge.

She gives a smile and a raise of her hand as Gabby enters.

"Miss Kinney! I hear you and Josh need to be re-aquainted!" she smiles, and then draws out another tumbler and pours the very, very bitter and herby mixture for Gabby.

Joshua Foley has posed:
"I don't want to be a first aid kit." A quiet grumble from Josh. "Thos are temporary, easily discarded. I want to make sure they don't have to find somebody else to fix what I can and should be able to handle..." Clearly, someone has gotten into his head recently.

"Hi." That offered more quietly to Gabby as he folds his legs up and goes to hug them. "More people that thought I was dead have found out I'm not." he explains.

Nettie Crowe has posed:
"You are *not* a first aid kit, poppet." Nettie states, maybe a little sharply. "Your touch rids a body of the underlying problem. A reality manipulator couldn't fix my hand on a whim, but you fixed it on *accident*."
