But I was stopping the BAD GUYS!
Date of Scene: 16 October 2023
Location: Avenue of Tomorrow - New Troy
Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: June Connor, Gloria Westhaven

June Connor has posed:
The Avenue of Tomorrow is a fantastic place. Filled with the latest in technologies. Experimental things on display, new phones for sale, and all the latest in gadgets and toys. Usually there isn't so much crime here, either, given its profile.

Which is why it makes it a great spot to pull a heist. June isn't wearing a black leather outfit with a face concealing mask. She isn't weilding a bunch of super high tech weapons. Shes' wearing a faded red crop top sweatshirt with an obscenity about what a person can go do with themselves. Her fire engine red hair with an undercut screams rebel, and she has more than the standard number of piercings on her ears, and one on her nose to go with it. She stands with a tattered black denim knapsack over her shoulders as she looks at the display of a new GPS tool, an AI driven one that can scour local devices to enhance search results and connect more information to create a far more advanced device than is currently available on the market. She stands outside the window, scowling at the device carefully.

Gloria Westhaven has posed:
Gloria didn't come to The Avenue of Tomorrow to look for crime. She's here on a day trip with her family. Her parents and her brother might not stand out much, but Gloria always, always does. Her long black sweatshirt clashes stylistically with a knee-length skirt worn entirely out of convenience for her tail. She has the hood up, but no amount of pulling at it would keep it from catching on her horns; her scaled face and bright yellow eyes are clearly visible. "Ugh, mom~!" she whines, "C'mon, you know I can take care of myself!"

Her mom - a woman in a crisp blouse and thin skirt that screams of slick corporate ladders - rolls her eyes. "Gloria, we have been over this. We are here together. No wandering off." Gloria responds by crossing her arms in a huff and mumbling something under her breath - and that's when June catches her eye. Not because June's acting suspicious at all, no no. It's the undercut and the clothes. For a long moment, she stares at June with a sort of reverent, wide-eyed wonder reserved for Kids Older And Cooler Than Me. But then her mom snaps her back to reality with some mundane question about a shop she stops at, and Gloria sighs out a response. Just another boring day stuck out with her parents, apologizing to people who trip on her tail and trying to avoid the ever-present staring.

June Connor has posed:
June is very much from a world opposite of Gloria's. Surely Gloria's mother would not dare even tread in the places June usually finds herself. Not that the older girl is interested in impressing anyone. She is here with a job. Steal that GPS device for somebody who wants to jailbreak it and use it for...actually, she doesn't know or care what purposes.

The thin young woman unslings the backpack to pull a baseball cap of the Yankees out, donning it over her head before approaching the window properly, and unzips the front pouch. What is she pulling from that bag? Is it a super cool hacking device, or cloaking field to hide her activities? Nope. It's a brick. She chucks the brick suddenly, and with as much force as she can muster, smashing it into the front window that displays the device. The display disappears behind a pattern of cracks around the hole that she punched, and she rushes up to finish the job, kicking in the hole to grab the GPS. It's attached by a security cable, which she rips free, and turns to start running. Smash and grab, simple yet effective. Alarms scream from inside the store, and people look around, unexpecting the sudden turn of events, trying to figure out what's happening.

Gloria Westhaven has posed:
The shattering of glass and wailing of an alarm tend to draw lots of attention. Plenty of people are curious, but Gloria - who had been hoping for something to spice up her day in the first place - perks up, yellow eyes and sharp-toothed grin both wide with excitement. She does not wait for her parents' permission, she doesn't even say anything to them. "Ohhhohohoh, yeah!!" she cheers, and darts off through the crowd before her mother's ineffective protest fully forms. She doesn't bother with a costume change, either; the chase is on! She throws herself through the forming crowd, not trying to shove people out of her way but managing to do so just by virtue of bumping into them on her way to leap up onto the store roofs - where there are fewer crowds and a better vantage point. "Let's see, now..." she peers down at the crowd, looking for whoever might be carrying something from a smash-and-grab.

Mrs. Westhaven calls up at Gloria, insisting that she come down this instant! Gloria ignores her. Gloria doesn't even seem to have heard her; she's much too focused on tracking down a thief. "If I were stealin' something," she muses softly to herself, "which way would I go...?"

June Connor has posed:
June isn't looking up. It's Metropolis, so maybe she should. Instead she shoves her goods into the bag and starts bursting at full speed down the street, shoving past people who are not aware enough to realize she's coming. After a moment she tucks between two buildings, wall running up to grab a handhold of brick. She takes a short breath, and then leaps across the small gap to take another handhold, the backpack swinging, and she goes hand over hand, climbing up the alley side of the building until she's cresting the rooftop.
