No matter what oddities occur.

... like the healer not healing.

Cast of Characters: Phoebe Beacon, Damian Wayne, Barbara Gordon, Austin Reese
Tinyplot: Caliginosity

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe Beacon -- Oriole, in the gray-and-black armor with its cape and hood, with its orange highlights that showed obvious touches of Tim Drake's design -- had stumbled upon a new group of drug pushers. The weird thing about it is... they weren't really pushing the drugs. And the drugs weren't filled yet. Gelcaps. Packaging. Machinery to fill and produce that were regulated by certain features of the government for certain meant bad things -- but so far, no product.

What they were doing, however, was beginning to network for distrobution, which includes phones with jailbroken SIM cards, ready to be used as burners.

And worse, she had reported, there were Metahumans among them. The alert had gone out to the Outsiders, whose root mission was to fight against Metahumans invading Gotham City, and of course her Bat Family.

A cold rain is drizzling down over Gotham City this evening, drumming in a dirty white noise as the distant skyscrapers flash their tower lights. Steam rises from vents in the street and from chimneys of buildings.

A van pulls up, braking with a screech, and six people clad in black jump out of the doors, both front and rear, and enter what was supposed to be a condemned warehouse.

There is a broken skylight already, along with a couple of rooftop access hatches -- along with the front and side doors to the squat, flat building.

And, watching the area, curled up beneath the handy wing of an angel on a desanctified church, Oriole escapes some of the rain.

"Looks like our guys just arrived."

Damian Wayne has posed:
Opposite of the angel, a demon, it's wings twisted downwards provides cover for Batwing. Tucked into the darkness, only a bit of his mask is illuminated as he looks down at the object in his hands.

A young girl stands in front of a canvas, her face twisted in frustration. 'The school art fair is next week, and I don't have any inspiration!'
The boy next to her glances over, 'But you always make such great art, Hana.'
The girl glances up, 'I don't know why I don't feel the flow from my heart, Ren.'
The boy blinks, 'Maybe you need to look within?'

Oriole's alert beeps in Batwing's ear and the young man sighs. "Just tell her how you feel already, Ren." he grouses as he closes the book, tucking it back into the waterproof pouch on his uniform and tucking it away.

"I count six. No obvious metas upon them. What's the play, Oriole? Want to wait until they have the goods?"

Barbara Gordon has posed:
For nearly a decade Barbara served as the dedicated Oracle to the Bat-family, and its many needs while out in the field. Essentially the job was a dispatcher, and eye in the sky role, but quite honestly it had a lot of down time associated with it too. In those 9 or so years, Babs had plenty of time to work on her education, her skills in programming, and many other fields. Now, with her feet back beneath her, she employs the use off an Artificial Intelligence system to serve as Oracle when she's not in her tower. Case in point, tonight. She knew of the alert out from Phoebe, and she was in the general vicinity herself.

She is up on a rooftop, similarly to that of Phoebe, but she's standing out in the rain, letting it fall over her armored form. Her red hair plastered to her cape by the rain, that flutters gently in the damp wind. Batgirl's green eyes scan the horizon, and glance down to her wrist computer which is providing her with ffeeds from her flock of Bat-drones that are zipping around this city block, as well as sensor data coming down from the Birds of Prey airship, a blimp that floats high in the sky.

"I get the sense these people are not going to be very talkative types." comes Barbara's voice over the team comm net.

Austin Reese has posed:
Drug pushers never seem to get the memo. You don't bring that junk into Gotham. The message from Oriole had been pretty straight forward. Some metas and non-metas were working on bringing in a lot of junk that he was planning on stopping. But because of that, he'd joined up, wearing the unmarked Osprey armor this time, the logo removed.

His hood down at the moment, he ran a hand through his hair as he watched from his angle, glancing at the broken skylight, <"I see multiple points of entry, but no idea on the metas. Do we have any idea of the range of powers we're looking at?"> He doesn't want to bust in through the skylights and then get cooked alive by a guy who can microwave you with his ears or whatever.

He does one last equipment check, going through a couple of pouches on his belt, and ensuring he has enough charges for the gauntlet with him. Extra electrical ones this time. Always a safe bet against even powerful metas unless they're immune to electricity or something.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
The six enter the building. One removes his face covering, showing a freckled, potmarked face - like he'd spent most of his life too close to a fryalator and he breathes out "Just what The Ever-Loving HELL are we doing this for in Gotham? Any minute now we're gonna have a flying rodent infestation!" he grouses.

"Relax, we're not doing anything high-profile. That run in last week as a fluke. Not like we have anything worth them troubling themselves for." another replies. Two has a smooth voice as she shakes out her hair, and pulls it into a quick ponytail.

"Yeah yeah," someone with a deep bass grunts. "You tink dat until one 'a' da Bats show up!" he grunts.

The toerh two don't look too concerned with the conversation, and they begin to dump out crates of phones. Stolen smartphones, ranging from older Generation 7 iPhones to current Androids, to Stark Phones and Wayne Tech phones and even a couple of OsCorp items.

"Get started taking the data. Search for anything useful. Dump the rest. And then let them take carge of wiping the remainder." the smallest one states to the other quiet one.

"Incidentally, they shot electricity at me when I came across them. Wasn't really prepared for an all-out investigation at that moment. At least four of them are metas. At least three have electrical properties." Oriole says, "And one of them shoots spikes from their wrist sand elbows." she mentions, and launches her grapple. "I'm taking the rooftop. Anyone wanna take the door?"

Damian Wayne has posed:
When Oriole calls out for someone to go through the front door, Batwing opens comms. "I volunteer." And as he prepares for the doorbusting, Batgirl speaks up. There's a brief frown, but her logic is solid and sound, and there's a visible pause as he draws in a breath.

"Oriole, since you're on the roof, you have the skylight cleared? Batgirl, let me know when you have the information you need. I'll deploy on your mark."

He can be patient and wait a few more moments. Especially since it's mission dependent.

Barbara Gordon has posed:
"we'll knock out the power once we get a little more evidence on what they're doing inside that building." Batgirl's voice says over the comms moments before she steps one gold boot off of her own building's ledge. She takes to the skies, with her cape billowing out behind her in the rain. Batgirl begins to glide toward the location in-question here tonight. "If that skylight has a optimal vantage point, try to gather some direct evidence of their activitties in there. Once we got as much as we can see, we'll cut power and come in from multiple directions at the same time. It'll increase their disorientation, and give us a greater advantage to bring them down as swiftly as possible."

She cuts to the right and glides her way around a water tower ontop of a nearby building, then comes in for another landing, a gentle jog leading her across the roof to the new point's edge, where she peers over the building toward the site being monitored down below.

"I'm on the north. There should be windows that I can breach once we're in place and have the most evidence we can gather." She states, her eyes going up to the sky as her squad of drones sweep overhead, with one descending down to gently land its skids upon the site's roof not far from that skylight. It blinks a little red light, as it prepares its direct localized EMP pulse weapon...

Austin Reese has posed:
<"Wonder if I can overload them."> Osprey wonders aloud over the comms, <"Screw it I'll take the front door. It'll be fun."> He replies to Oriole, hopping down off the roof he was on, with a grapple line to catch him before he hits pavement. Batgirl's mention of wanting to collect evidence gets a bit of an affirmational grunt from him, <"Gather everything you need, just let me know when to go in."> He replies over comms.

He does a quick look out for any security cameras or motion sensors or anything that might get him noticed. Then once he's been able to get up to the door proper, he sets to work on setting up a couple of breaching charges on the door, humming a little bit to himself as he does.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Oriole's domino is recording. She looks over the two smaller people within working over the phones, pulling data off and storying it away elsewhere, and then turning over the phones to one of the others for resetting and powering up.

The big one with the deep voice is on guard. He might not have a technologically inclined power.

<No sign of their drug items. But they may have been moved to a different locale." Phoebe's voice comes over the coms. <<But those are definitely not the latest Stark Industries phones running Stark OS.>

<I count all six within. Two at the table, three helping with the phones, and one keeping watch by the front door. He looks to be the Big Bruiser. How much does anyone wanna bet that he's the one who's gonna grunt 'it's a bat!' in a Brooklyn or Joisy accent?>

<So we have visual on some identifying evidence, definitely incriminating evidence. Who wants to do the honors and pop the smoke?> Phoebe asks, and thens he pauses.

<... also, my magic sense is tingling. One of them might not be metahuman with electric powers. One of them might be magical, so there's a small chance they know --"

One of the middle sized figures suddenly looks up.

    <... that I'm here.>

Damian Wayne has posed:
When Osprey says he has the door, Batwing's shoulders effect a shrug. Alright, so he's no longer on the door. At least for the moment. It just means that he needs a new objective.

And there is one presented to him in the form of a very large man that has stepped outside to take a break and guard the place. Focusing in on him as his visor flares to life, he comments over the comms. <I'll clear the door for you, Osprey.>

And now he'll come out of the shadow of the gargoyle like demon, dropping quickly as he brings his whole frame down, and after dropping several feet, flares his wings and swoops downwards, aiming to plant both of his feet directly into the large man's face and take him down before the bruiser ever gets the chance to even get into the fight.

If the big guy can take the hit... as soon as he rebounds, he hits the ground, rotating in a crouch and a solid kick is sent to the back of his knees to try to take out a kneecap. But he'd really like to keep him from screaming out a warning.

Barbara Gordon has posed:
A gust of cold rainy wind casts Batgirl's cape off to her left side, her locks of rain soaked red hair dancing across her left shoulder. "Good work on gathering the intel on this one." She notes moments beffore Damian is taking fflight, her eyes focused on what Osprey is doing, via her drones fluttering through the sky above the building. She lowers her hand down to her wrist computer, and sends a signal to the drones.

"Okay, gang. Smoke is incoming. Power is going down a second after that. Be ready." She informs the team over the comms as Bat-wing is already disabling one of the targets.

Each of the drones peels off to one side of the building, each one aiming toward a window, or point of entry for smoke pellets, and all at once the drones begin firing them at the building's extserior facade!

On the roof, the Bat-drone parked on its skids, suddenly begins to blink its LED eyes in a rapid flash of red and blue, before it activates its localized EMP pulse down inside the building's interior!

Once more, Barbara steps up on to the building's ledge beside the warehouse they're sieging. She flexes her muscles within her suit as she sucks in a breath of air, and leaps from the building. Her cape fans out on either side of her as she starts her fast glide down toward the looming structure's north side! She glides right between two of her drones peppering the interior with smoke-pellets, her armored body bashing through the already shattered glass!

Austin Reese has posed:
With the notice that Oriole may have been found out, and that Batwing is going to take down the guy near the door, Osprey nods, <"Roger that. Fire in the hole.">

He steps back away from the door a couple of steps, and taps the screen on his left forearm. Both of the charges go off with a loud blast, ripping the door off of its hinges and flinging it inward.

He knows Batwing and the goon won't get hit by the door, but it'll definitely make enough noise and cause enough of a ruckus that everyone will have to look that way, and it'll give everyone else time to move in.

"Hey guys. Heard you were trying to start stuff in my town, you know that's a big no go." He steps past the threshold of the door, having raised his voice to make sure they can all hear him, "Can we please, for once, just surrender so we don't have to go through the whole beating you up part? It'll make things easier for everyone."

He fully expects the answer to be violent, and is prepared to dive into cover as soon as they respond.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
the Bruiser doesn't even get the chance to say "It's da BAT!", because his face is currently full of feet.

That's really odd, he doesn't think that's ever happened to him before.

The bruiser's legs are then attempted to be robbed from him, but Damian would find that his knees dont't bend so easy.

He turns. He lowers his gaze to the armored, red glowy bad.

"You da Red Hood?" he questions, and then he raises one big, meaty hand, his skin getting a cast of stone to it, and he attempts to pummel Damian into the ground.

Smoke is rapidly filling the room. The other three confirmed metahumans begin to call out their positions to one another, forgetting the phones. as they prepare to charge their powers up. There's a tingle in the air. One of the two smaller metahumans is making their way to the door with a bag full of the stolen phones -- though they're suddenly rendered inert by the EMP emitted by the drone above.

The magic-sensing metahuman screeches, and emits a sonic blast up towards the skylight, which causes the glass remaining in it to shatter and rain down all over the operations -- and also causes Oriole to tumble down into the thick of it.

    "YOU AGAIN?!"

Smoke continues ti fill the room, allowing the Bats the advantage!

Damian Wayne has posed:
So. Yes. Batwing probably had expected to do more damage than he did. But he is probably one of the lighter of the family and thus. We have this. Apparently he did not realize how much mass the behemoth has.

Though when the bruiser calls him 'Red Hood', Batwing tts. "Did you see me shooting you, you overgrown oaf?" he asks, leaping on top of the fist as it swings down at him and slams into the ground. Landing upon it, he uses it as a springboard. "Speaking of seeing..."

Both of his thumps poke out as he tries to grab the large man on the sides of his head. His fingers attempt to dig into the man's eyes to gouge into them and cause temporary blindness. Noone has ever, ever accused Batwing of fighting fair.

"Help take care of the inside, I'll keep this ogre busy!" he calls out, even as he's preparing to start laying kicks into the large man's ribs.

Barbara Gordon has posed:
Batgirl smashes through the windows on the north face of the building's interior. Glass shards rain down on to the ground, as her drones pepper the building with smoke pellets aimed toward the center of the building's main floor space. Once inside, Batgirl immediately grabs one of the rafters, her cape relenting its rigidity as she takes to the shadows of the support beams hanging from the ceiling. She surveys the ground below, and snaps her eyes over to where Phoebe is sent crashing down through the skylight. That's not good.

Eyelets snap shut over Barbara's green eyes, and she quickly rushes across the rafters, her right gloved hand snapping down to her right hip. She pulls something off of her gold utility belt, before she raises her hand up... and drops to one knee on the rust covered rafter.

Her covered eyes use Augmented Reality to search for the targets in the smoke, and when she finds one of the meta-figures below, she snaps her hand down, casting a Batarang down toward him, one designed specifically to collide with a person, and hit them with a stunning burst of electrical damage.

Will it work on these people? It's worth a shot to see!

Austin Reese has posed:
The billowing smoke allows Osprey to get deeper into the building without getting blasted by any of those metas. The element of surprise can only last for so long, though as Osprey runs past where Batwing is still doing battle with Shrek, he keeps his head down as he rushes towards the main group where the EMP has just gone off.

He reaches the main table after a moment, leaping across it and trying to tackle one of the trio. If he can take one of them down right off the bat, then it'll make it easier to try and bring down the other two when they're disorganized. He throws several punches into his target's face as he takes him down.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"OGRE?! I. AM. STONE AGE!" the metahuman terror comments, hsi face properly described as Statuesque only because he is indeed beginning to get a stoney exterior to match the cold in Batwing's heart! And he growls and yells as his eyes get thumbs put to them. He howls in pain and fury, and attempts to dislodge the Bat by slamming his meat fists into Damian's back!

Batgirl smashes throught he North Side heading in south. THe rafters hold her weight though they give a nervous creak -- they're old and dry and probably have some rot to them, but they hold her easily enough. The batarang spins towards its target and strikes and with an electric SNAP there's energy that's flooded through the metahuman -- who then turns. Her silky smooth voice has power behind it: "oh, you shouldn't have done that, babe." she states, and she raises her hand and emits a crackle of reddish lightning from her fingertips at Batgirl!

Austin moves through the smoke, tackling one of the trio who isn't engaged with Batgirl. He goes down pretty easily with "OHG OD OH GOD NOT MY PRETTY FACE! HOW WILL I EVER GET A GIRLFRIEND?!", and then he tries to throw Osprey off him to try and get a moment to recover, pinned to the floor and rather dizzy.

The other of the Trio launches themselves at Osprey to try and get him off the compatriot!

The one with the cell phones goes out the side entrance, trying to get away from the mayhem.

Phoebe, on the other hand, is engaging with the magic-sensing metahuman. There's a couple of barbs traded back and forth as the metahuman draws a knife, and Phoebe goes in hand-to-hand in the Oriole suit!

Damian Wayne has posed:
"Stone Age? More like Rock Doofus!" Batwing taunts, just as a fist slams him in the back. Even with the extra armor and padding, there's a rush of air from his lungs and that probably just cracked a couple of ribs.

Feet digging into the chest of the giant ogre, he growls and pushes himself up, crawling his way out of the grip.

His hands leave Stone Age's eyes, as he grabs a pair of Birdarangs from his utility belt. With one in each hand, he arches over Stone Age's head and presses the button on them both. And then he lodges them into the back of the large rock man's neck as he uses that rocky outcropping of a head to leap backwards into a flip as he gets some distance.

Because both of those Birdarangs are beeping. Faster and faster as they countdown.

Click. Click. BOOOM!

Landing on his feet some distance away, Batwing is facing away from the explosion - because cool guys never look at explosions before he's spinning around to see the result -- in case he needs to be ready for more.

Barbara Gordon has posed:
"Oh, shit..." Batgirl mutters to herself when she sees that her device did basically nothing to the woman down below. She expects the worse, and instantly vacates the rafters moments before the bolt of lightning lances up toward wehre she was. With a shower of sparks tumbling toward the smoke covered floor below, Babs propels herself toward a central load-bearing pillar! She slams in to the side of it, and slides down to one of the mid-section fasteners, where she plants her back up against the old concrete. Moving around to the other side, she comes around the pillar, and this time tosses a Flash Bang Batarang down toward the ground.

"Flash out." Babs warns her team who might be vulnerable to it if they aren't wearing their own eye gear.

After the ear-shattering bang goes off, and the eye-blasting light bursts through the area, Batgirl launches herself down toward the woman, but not with the intent to slam in to her, but instead throw another device at her abdomen! One that will wrap metal lines around her like a very nasty metal spider web!

Austin Reese has posed:
The guy that Osprey is on top of is lucky enough as his compatriot pulls Osprey off. Though Osprey is more than happy to roll with it, when he hears Babs warn that the flashbang is going out, the lenses on his mask adjust to prevent the flash. Osprey uses the advantage created by that to swing an elbow up into the gut of the one who grabbed him from behind, before wheeling around to try to give them a spinning heel kick to the side of the head.

These are the metas, so he wants to keep pressing the advantage while it lasts. As soon as one of them lights up their powers, things are going to get very hectic fast. He follows up the elbow by swinging around, slotting one of the charges into his gauntlet and swinging an uppercut towards the chin, aiming to send that full charge through his target. Hopefully it'll drop them and not bring them up to full power.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
The batarangs beep. Stone age looks down, trying to see, trying to wipe away what's been placed on him,a dn he gives a 'no no no nO NO NO NO --"

BOOM. There's some plinkoplation (positively the sound of RPG skeletons falling to pieces), and Stone age teeters backwards with a lumbering grrwwaaaauuuuugh! sound.

    BOOM.

    He's out.

"Stoney!" the silk-voiced girl asks, cutting off her electrical attack from Batgirl as she turns to try and launch a volley of sith-like lightning as she cries out in fear at Batwing, but ends up turning just in time to see Batgirl comes out of the flash, and strike her with the webbing.

There's a brightness that blindes those without eye protection, and that lends to the bats' win in the warehouse.

The electrical metas appear to be on the run, as it were. One's bound up. One's out cold thanks to Austin, and the other has just gotten an uppercut with a full charge into the electrical metahuman, whose jaw gives a SNAP as they go down.

As for the mage Phoebe's fighting, trying not to use magic on bat time?

Oriole is bleeding from a laceration across her face, but the short one is out cold.

"Sitrep?" she asks, turning and touching her face and... looking oddly perplexed.

Damian Wayne has posed:
With Stone Age down, Batwing gives a soft wheeze of breath. The lung's not punctured, but he may need a couple of days to recover when he gets home. "Stone Age, that's what he called himself, is down, coming inside."

And that's what Batwing was about to do, heading into the hole in the wall he made when he exploded Stone Age -- just to find lightning racing towards him. He tries to backflip away, and is able to avoid a couple of blasts, before one finally connects and there's a growling cry of pain as the electricity courses over his body and the whole Batwing suit arcs as he lands on one leg that gives out and sends him uncerimoniously crashing into the ground in a slide.

Fortunately for him, he doesn't have to worry about further damage thanks to Batgirl cutting off the power supply. Pushing to his feet, he lifts, the red of his visor flickering back to life. "Coming in!"

Barbara Gordon has posed:
Batgirl drops out of the smokey air when her entanglement device wraps around the lightning-throwing woman! She quickly moves in then to slam her knee in to the back of the woman's own, hoping to drop her down to the ground, face first.

Babs drops down to rest a knee on the back of the woman's shoulders, as her covered eyes look around their surroundings. She raises her left hand up, tapping something on her wrist computer, which leads to the sudden roar of an engine outside, loud enough to rumble the building on its foundation.

The loading doors on the north eastern side of the building burst open, and the sound of tires squealing on pavement echo offf of the walls. It's Batgirl's personal Batmobile, a heavily armored formula-1 style vehicle. It comes to a stop just inside the building, with an intimidating cannon raising up out of a port on its upper body, just behind the cockpit of the armored car.

"Everyone in one piece?" Babs asks through the wafting smoke.

Austin Reese has posed:
Osprey is so incredibly glad that worked. Once the last one is down after the massive hit, he ejects the empty charge from the gauntlet, and takes a moment to catch his breath.

A quick glance over to Oriole and the cut on her face, tilting his head a little bit, "I'm okay." Comes the quick reply, as he takes a knee and quickly zip-ties the hands of the two he'd knocked out, "Did we get what we needed?"

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"I'm... I'm all right." Phoebe states, grabbing the person she fought by the back of the jacket and pulling them close to cuff them.

"Glad the car looks like it's in order. Running on those solar cels?" she questions with amusement in her voice, trying not to think about the fact that she's bleeding. Bad time all around.

"Have the footage of six people, the subsequent battle, aaand it looks like one got away. But that's all right..."

She brushes her gloved fingertips to her cheel again.

"I know I'll run into them again." she murmurs.

Damian Wayne has posed:
"I have Stone Age secured. All is well?" Batwing asks as he makes his way in after securing the large rocky meta. His hand rests against his rib cage, not that it can do much.

"You're bleeding, Oriole." he points out. "Do you need aid?"

Barbara Gordon has posed:
Batgirl stands up again to her full height, she glances to her car, then back to Phoebe before smirking softly at her. "Not yet. Maybe some day though." She says of the GGE power cores powering her ride. Crouching, Babs gathers the woman up who had shot lightning at her. She makes sure to keep the woman's hands faced in the opposite direction as she's held by her grappling device. "GCPD is on the way..." Babs says, her voice modulator making her near-whisper-level voice sound slightly demonic in nature, but still with a feminine undertone.

Babs pushes the woman down to sit on a chair on the edge of the main floor, before she turns to look to her teammates.

"This went well, all things considered."

Her eyes drop down to her wrist computer again, and after a second of viewing the feed on the small monitor, she speaks up once more. "One of my drones are attempting to track the runner. Hopefully we can get a lead on where they're headed. I'm keeping the drone up high, so as to not alert them that we're watching their route."

Austin Reese has posed:
"Well if GCPD is on the way we should probably make ourselves scarce." He replies to Babs, as he looks over at Oriole again. He knows she's been doing everything she can to not use magic while in Oriole mode, but he figured she'd still at least heal herself up.

He grabs his grapple off of his belt, and takes aim at the broken windows up above. Better to clear out and regroup after.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"N-no, Batwing. I'll take care of it when we get out of here." Oriole states. Her modulator purposefully makes her voice sound soothing and a little deeper than it naturally is, flattening her tone -- which helps hide the slight note of panic in her voice.

"But I agree. LEt's make sure these people are secure, and let the GCPD know that they're dangerous Metahumans. They have a protocol for that.." She states distractedly, crunching through the broken glass to head towards the door.

Damian Wayne has posed:
"Sooner we're out of here, the better." Batwing agrees as he looks around to make sure everything is secure. "I'm sure Batgirl will be giving us the information on what they were up to soon enough."

Barbara Gordon has posed:
Barbara lowers her left arm down to her side, not wanting to have her face stuffed in a computer while the situation was still active around them. With the smoke migrating around the warehouse still, she sweeps her eyes through it beffore the eyelets covering her verdent green pupils sweep up again, revealing them once more.

"Go greet the police. I'll keep a watch on things in here. But get back to safety soon, and treat your wounds." She tells Phoebe, and through her the others as well.

"Good job too, on tracking this down, and organizing it." And even while in costume, babs is still prone to showing more facial expressions than Bruce, and in this instance she shows a soft smile to her teamates.

Outside the sirens of GCPD squad cars can be heard, with the brright flashing of blues and reds through the open windows smashed open during the siege.
