Location: Union Square Park
Synopsis: SHIELD and Spiders joining
Cast of Characters: Mary Jane Watson, Julia Carpenter

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
It was after a small melee in Union Square Park. A spellcaster, having gotten it and Battery Park mixed up, had erected an array of golem-cannons to try and level the area purely based on the name. After being told by the perpetually snarky New Yorkers that he had the wrong place, he had gone on as mall rampage, which had been stopped by an array of heroes and other types whom had arrived.
Mary Jane would be groaning, heavy sweater that was rather threadbare from explosions. "If I hear that idiot whistling 'cannon tot he right of them' one more tim I swear I'll tear out his tongue."

Julia Carpenter has posed:
Arachne hadn't meant to get involved, it wasn't the sort of thing she was supposed to be doing. But when she came across the fight in progress, she couldn't NOT help out. She'd hoped to be able to sneak off quietly at the end of the fight before anyone noticed that she wasn't one of the known Spiders in the city.

She didn't count on getting caught by multiple explosions as the cannons are dealt with, rattling and disorienting her and sending her to the ground. It takes her more than a few moments to get back on her feet, ears ringing, senses reeling, shaking ehr head and wincing over more than a few bruises. Those will be gone soon enough, but the lingering disorientation makes webbing away an impossibility just now.

"Well.. he did get stuck in the middle.." Quipping is practically a Spider imperative, it might as well be one of the powers that comes with the rest.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson has read the little note that Peter put along the Spider-Comm (accurate or not, it wasn't the greatest name, but don't tell him that). Julia is an unkonwn quality but that Peter has stated works for the feds. Given Mary Jane is fairly aware that none of the major federal agencies employ any individual with spider-type abilities, and Arachnae isn't in SHIELD, that leaves her as lying, working for the military, or for one of the near infinite number of spaghetti-o'd acronym agencies that worked for the federal government to keep the bureaucracy that came up with names for agencies employed and collecting pension funds.

"I suppose it's better than Christmas music. And he wasn't doing the Eighteen Twelve Overture which was really overdone." But it did hve cannons. So it had that going for it. And yes, snarking was practically a spider-power.

Julia Carpenter has posed:
"Could have been way worse. He could have parodied Sympathy for the Devil. Why is it bad guys like the Stones so much?"

Lifting a hand to rub fingers against her temple, glancing off to the side to see if she can't form a web line. No go. Sighing, she looks over to Mary Jane, "Well, this was fun. We should do it again sometime. Maybe without the cannon, though. Always glad to meet a fellow redhead in the business." Turning, she starts off, trying to get out of the area before cops, or feds, show up and there's questions.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would glance over at Julia, "So, who you work for, exactly? You definitely aren't a solo operator. You're not corporate, you're not international, and you're not military." She would cross her arms over idly. "You're way too casual to be military, if you were international you'd be talking up a theatre, and you're not an independent type." What exactly was leading her to that level of assumption was unknown (spoiler, it was a Peter-passed along message, shhhh).

But, time to play verbal poking just a bit and see what she got from it. Plus, it was -fun- to actually get to do it sometime without Daisy glaring over her shoulder.

Julia Carpenter has posed:
"Sounds like you already know, so you don't need me to tell you," Julia shakes her head lightly, still on the move, still trying to clear her head so she can get out of Dodge before it becomes Cop Central.

She tries again, then frowns when the webbing fizzles before fully forming. "If you're worried about jurisdiction, all you. My involvement here is strictly unofficial. Just passing by, saw the throw down, jumped in to help." She lifts both hands and quirks a wry smile, "Paperwork is all yours."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would muse over at Julia, "Well, actually, I can appreciate that. Suggest if you're going to do some things behind the backs of your bosses you'll want something a /little/ less identifiable. I presume they're reviewing things through remote cameras? Probably cells and anything that's got publically accessible networks?"

Julia Carpenter has posed:
"Oh I assume I'm always being watched, somehow. I'm wearing a mask and a costume and displaying extra-normal abilities." Julia lifts a shrug and cracks a brief half-smile. She glances around the area, turning so she can walk backwards while talking to Mary Jane.

She motions towards Mary Jane, "What about yourself? Not worried about being caught on candid camera?"

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would chuckle, "Well, if you -want- you can make sure they aren't sure it's you on camera. Or at the very least you can confuse them enough, which will make your handlers annoyed with one another and yell at whomever they have doing tracking rather than you. Since it would mean if they bring it up to you that you're doing a good job, which they'd never admit. And.." She woulds hrug.

"I've done modeling, you expect you'll get a camera shoved in your face most of the time."

Julia Carpenter has posed:
"Oh, I'm not worried about being seen by my boss. What I do when I'm off the clock is my business. Long as I don't wind up in cuffs or custody, anyways. That does tend to get sticky, pun intended."

Julia shakes her head lightly and veers around a fallen golem, still trying to get the webs to form and hold their cohesion. "I appreciate the advice, but really, unless you're looking to help me transfer to a better branch... I'll just tip my hat and ride off into the sunset. It's... complicated." She backs up over a cannon, pausing when she realizes the sticking is working, "Ah! There it is. Damn cannon..."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would sigh, "And with how long the cops keep anyone in custody I really don't think it'd be that much of an issue anyways." She swore sometimes the only reasons villains stayed in Rykers was beause it had a really nice communal exercise area they could hang out in before they got bored and broke out.

"And honestly I don't have the sort of pull to do that." She would keep it vague in the 'I know someone that could' sort of way.

Julia Carpenter has posed:
"I mean... I expect the very first thing would be to peek under the mask. And at that point, it doesn't matter if I get released, it's game over." Julia lifts a shrug, "So I'm sure you'll understand if I don't stick around for the Q&A."

She holds a hand up, a newly formed psi-webline flipping into her hand. Nodding at the response, she smiles faintly, "It's okay, pretty sure transfers aren't actually a thing. Anyways, good talk. I'm sure I'll see you around the city."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would give a wave, "Sure. Anyways, if you ever relaly do want to get into an argument over which weird super secret spy agency can do whatever other dumb thing, just look me up and we can laugh over some stuff." She goes to slide a small card over and goes to jot down a.. Name on it. Not a number. Not her name. Just a..

the Swordfish Bar.

Julia Carpenter has posed:
Taking the card, she purposely doesn't look at it right away, just tucks it into the sleeve of her glove and nods, "I'll look forward to that argument. Hopefully soon." Julia tips a quick two-finger salute and zooms off on the webline to the tune of approaching sirens!

She'll make sure to check out the card when she can unmask and be certain her eyelenses aren't also cameras sending everything back to Shady Government Agency 327.
