Date of Scene: 05 November 2023
Location: Hot Dumpling Restaurant
Synopsis: Dumplings were had (so many!), and plans were made!
Cast of Characters: Conner Kent, Kiden Nixon

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner had hoped to lure a few more friends to the Dumplings place today, since it is a weekend. But so far, no luck. At least Kiden could come, which is no surprise since she moved with him and they are going through that phase they seem joined at the hip. "Pretty odd Impulse is not responding, he never says not to dumplings," comments Conner, checking his cellphone for the fourth time.

Kiden Nixon has posed:
"Well... maybe he's... uhm.. busy? Or at work?" Kiden offers with a small shrug and a quick smile for him. Leaning in, she nudges his arm lightly with her shoulder, "If it becomes an impromptu date night instead of a meet and greet with your friends, I won't complain." She looks over the menu, "Oh wow.. they have vegetarian options too. That's neat!" Kiden is not a vegetarian. She's an opportunistic eater! "Besides, it gives us a chance to, y'know.. get to know each other better." Her eyes move to his face and she smiles, "We don't really know a ton about each other, after all."

Conner Kent has posed:
Right. They have been too busy with other things. "Dumplings for everyone, even the vegans," he notes. Not him. He is an opportunistic eater too, meaning he will eat what he likes as the opportunity presents itself.

"I guess it is true. I mean, I know quite a bit, but... you said your family is alive?" He asks, "maybe we should meet them at some point soon. I also have kind of family. I mean, I am a clone, but I know and get alone well with the family of my, hmm, non-clone brother. Well, those I know. It gets strange, since many of them are aliens."

Kiden Nixon has posed:
"Well then.. why don't we order a bit of everything, just in case more people show up? Anything that we don't eat here we can take back to the apartment," she smiles towards Conner and runs her fingers along the menu. "I mean, obviously, not *actually* everything but... you know, a couple of dumpling options."

"My mother, and three bothers. And... I haven't seen them in five years. Not since I ran away," Kiden glances down at her hands. "They.. they're.. uh... wait, a clone?" Pulled out of her own past, Kiden looks up at Conner, studying him, "Huh... never would have guessed." Reaching up, she runs her fingers along his cheek and smiles, "I'm a mutant, I don't exactly have room to judge. But.. sounds like you have a decent family. I'd like to meet them soon." Winking, she looks back to her menu, "With a name like Superboy, I kinda figured you were related somehow to Superman."

She clears her throat, "My father was a police officer in the NYPD. Good man, good father. He, uh, he was.. shot.. in front of me. I was eleven. Things got rough after that, for my mom. We were barely getting by. Then, when I was fifteen, my mutant powers activated. In a big way. I made some enemies.. and I tried to hide what had happened to me. But, it got harder. And when I had gang members coming after me.. I ran. I said it was safer for my family but.. really, it was safer for me." She glances up at him, "I couldn't handle my family hating me for being a mutant... and... it happens to a lot of mutants. Things are all well and grand until you're suddenly 'not human'."

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner hmphs, doesn't Kiden know Laura is a clone too? Oh! Maybe she doesn't, Laura is weird. He would agree to ordering everything, though. They can eat dumplings all the week, which sounds like a perfectly good plan to him!

Kiden story, though, is not as good. He reaches for her hand when she mentions a dead father. And then the whole running, not going to the cops, mutant problems and fears. "Well, we can go see them next week. If they hate you, they are not worth your time. If they don't, it is better to see those you love some times, hmm? And they should be safe five years later. If those gangsters bother them, you can tell Laura." And the problem will vanish real quickly.

Kiden Nixon has posed:
Kiden chuckles and leans up to kiss his cheek, "I don't have a 'clone sense', Conner. I just figured you were like.. a newphew or something to the Big Blue. Laura had to tell me she was a clone, too, or I wouldn't have known." Leaning in against his arm, she gets water to drink and they get to order all the dumplings!

Giving his hand a squeeze, Kiden smiles at him, "I'm not sure I want to know... as long as I stay away, I can pretend they love and care. If I go there and they hate me for it... that means I've lost my family." She chuckles, "I've been tempted to, but.. they've left me alone for awhile, they might have finally forgotten about me."

Conner Kent has posed:
"No way, maybe they think you are dead, but they won't have forgotten," points out Conner, frowning a bit. "Oh, about me... listen, it gets really strange. I was cloned from the son of Superman. He is the new Superboy that hangs with the Titans. He looks a lot like me, although a bit on the scrawny side." Well, not really. Jon is pretty fit, it is Conner that looks like a linebacker.

"So, Jon-El, that is his Kryptonian name, is not actually Superman's son in this timeline," he explains. "He comes from twenty years into the future. And the guy that cloned me was also from the future. We finally put him in jail last year, by the way. Dr. Harvest, bit of a crazy asshat."

Kiden Nixon has posed:
"Oh! No, not the family, the uh, the gang guys. They might have forgotten. I'm.. I'm not really worried about the gang guys so much as... that the people I love will hate me for something I can't control." Kiden lifts a shrug and offers a faint half-smile. She glances down, but then looks back up to Conner when he explains his own origins. "...huh. That's WAY more convoluted than my issues."

She smiles up at him and shrugs, "I'd still like to meet him sometime. I have.. three younger brothers. I really miss hanging out with them. Playing video games, watching cartoons... listening to them argue over who would kick whose butt in a fight."

Conner Kent has posed:
"You need to reconnected with them," states Conner firmly. The waitress comes, and he makes a huge order for things. Yes, dumpings for all the week. He doesn't like to cook, but he has a microwave oven for leftovers.

"What else?... well Supergirl is Superman's cousin, so she is kind of my aunt. Power Girl is also Supergirl but from a parallel timeline. I don't know what kind of relative is she would be, it is complicated! And the new Superwoman, Alura, is Supergirl's mom. She is my great-aunt, I guess, and I have been talking to her quite a bit lately. She is a super-genius like... Reed Richards level. Thanks to her the survivors Brainiac kidnapped from Krypton before the planet's destruction now have a new home."

Kiden Nixon has posed:
Kiden lets out a breath and reaches for his hand, taking it and giving a squeeze, "You'll come with me, right? I just.. I need someone there in case it.. goes badly."

Listening to Conner list out the various Super people, she chuckles and flashes a smile at him, "I'd love to meet your family, or, you know.. anyone in it that you're comfortable introducing me to." She gives a nod and offers, "I saw bits and pieces of that on the different news posts.. sounds like she's a great role model.. and a great parental type figure."
