Around the Roost
Date of Scene: 08 December 2023
Location: Level 1 - Labs - The Roost
Synopsis: Conner and Kiden check out the labs... ROSE RETURNS
Cast of Characters: Conner Kent, Kiden Nixon, Rose Wilson

Conner Kent has posed:
As Conner commented Kiden in her first visit, the Roost is not just the rec room, movie theatre, the nice rooms and the awesome kitchen. Half the levels are dedicated to crime research and training. And Laura has already introduced Kiden to the gym (ouch) so he is showing her the labs, workshops and store rooms. "There is an inventory somewhere, and it is long. I swear Tim has prepared for anything, including nuclear war and zombie apocalypse."

Kiden Nixon has posed:
"If there's a zombie apocalypse, I will learn to live in No Time until there's a cure or until I'm last man standing," Kiden lets out a small laugh and shakes her head even as she looks around the lab, checking out the equipment and tech with a low whistle. "There's stuff here that's only found in like.. major high security labs..." Glancing to Conner, she grins, "Should I be worried that we seem to be REALLY well funded?"

Rose Wilson has posed:
The door to the lab opens and a petite young woman enters. Rose Wilson hasn't been around in a very long time. Her white hair has grown out, and she looks quite comfortable. Casually hacked-off jeans shorts, an oversized t-shirt, and no shoes.

Tousling her hair on the way in, she grins crookedly at the two as she approaches. "Hi, Con. Didn't know we had a new recruit. Should I look at moving my shit?"

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner shrugs. "Honestly? If Robin wasn't rich, he couldn't do what he does. But it is the same for Iron Man. Their main super-power is that they can spend millions in equipment. And bankroll organizations like the Avengers and the Outsiders. I have to admit we wouldn't be as effective if we used my apartment in the Village for meetings and mission preparations."

Not to mention the batjet. Which Kiden still has to see, but is likely as costly as the whole Roost. Conner doesn't even own a car.

He has super-senses, though. Which means he -should- have heard Rose coming. But he didn't, because he wasn't paying attention to the background noises of a place he considers pretty safe.

So, he does a double take when the white-haired young woman shows up. Without warning, as usual. "Rose? Rose!" He grins. "Damn, girl. You could have texted you are back into town. Ah... Rose, this is Flux, she is new to the team." He turns to Kiden. "Rose has been with us since... damn, six years. Even before the Outsiders were official. But she has been scarce the last couple years."

Kiden Nixon has posed:
Kiden gives a chuckle and nods, "Being rich is totally the best super power. Don't get me wrong, mine is awesome, but rich does things no amount of time can do." She turns away from the equipment to rest her butt back against the counter, "To be fair, the apartment is way smaller than the Roost. Also, shared walls."

Looking over when Rose enters, she lifts a hand and smiles, "Hey. Since he's dropping your name all over the place.. I'm Kiden. Nice to meet you!" There's a glance and a teasing smile for Conner before looking back to Rose, "New to the Outsiders, not so new to the game."

Rose Wilson has posed:
Rose Wilson cants her head a bit, amusement touching her smile. "Flux? Sounds like a medical condition." she offers, casually. "Oh. Don't smoke in the lab. Learn from the experience of others." she adds. "Kiden. That's much better."

She leans back against one of the tables, right hand fidgeting near her back pocket which has a suspicious, rectangular-sized outline. "I would've texted, but I lost my phone about 3 months ago." she offers to Con. "You ever see the movie 'Seven Years in Tibet'? Well my stay only FELT that long."

Conner Kent has posed:
"That is because she doesn't have a secret ID..." Uh, okay. Conner tends to agree keeping this kind of secrets from each other is a bit silly, but there are RULES. They are dumb, and probably Batman wrote them.

"Well, I am in my four Starkphone this year," comments Conner, showing off his expensive smartphone. "This one amazingly survived the trip to New Krypton. But yeah, I lose a lot of them. Criminals with electric powers are the worst."

He looks at Rose again. "How was Tibet? I want to see it, but college has forced me to cancel almost all my trips. Just a few more months, though, and it is over."

Kiden Nixon has posed:
"No offense, but neither do I. I don't have a mask or a costume or anything like that, it's silly for me to use a different name when I have the same face no matter what I'm doing," Kiden lifts a shrug and offers a lopsided smile before nodding to Rose, "Thanks. Flux makes for a good codename but like.. I'm not exactly *hiding*."

Rose Wilson has posed:
Rose Wilson shrugs lightly. "Mine fell a few hundred feet into a crevasse. Not only gone, but probably shattered." She tilts her head the other way and white hair spills across her eye patch. Probably a habit.

"Tibet is cold. I hit the States a week ago to run a few errands, and I'm only just now no longer chilled. But I studied and I learned." A toss of her head flips the hair back again. "I should pick up a new phone tomorrow. Get back on the grid again."

"So, Kiden, what makes you want to join our happy little band? You have a haunted past like a few of us, or just want to fight the good fight?"

Conner Kent has posed:
"Maybe you should wear a mask," mentions Conner. Since well, she -might- want a secret identity at some point. It would be hard to get one if she becomes famous. "I don't, but that is because no one believes a half-Kryptonian would be going to college. I think they expect us to live in the moon or something. And actually Supes lives in the goddamn pole, so they are not so far off. That place is cold, too."

Kiden Nixon has posed:
"Uhhhh, well.. I mean.. my past isn't *great* if that's what you mean? Mostly it was Conner that suggested it might be good for me. He was right, too," Kiden lifts a shrug and offers up a quick grin, then glances to Conner. "Little late, isn't it? I've gone up against villains bare-faced already. Not like I'm ever gonna be Bruce Wayne or anything."

She sticks her tongue out and blanches, "I'm a mutant. Nobody expects me to make anything of myself anyways."

Rose Wilson has posed:
Rose Wilson's wry smile returns, then. "My father is an international criminal, and for a long time I worked with him." she offers casually. "I was supposed to be in prison by now. I wear a mask when I'm on a job, but the white hair and my size still sometimes gives it away."

Rose squints at Con, then. "I really *did* think you lived on the moon. Or at least at the bottom of the ocean or something. Anyway, my code name is Ravager, which is great if you're a pirate."

Conner Kent has posed:
"You have been in my apartment, you pirate wench," protest Conner with mock-indignation. "Also, Aquaman kicked me out of Atlantis. Happens Rock music transmits too far underwater and Atlanteans are all tone deaf." The story is probably not true. Unless Hawaii is secretly part of Atlantis.

"Why am I not supposed to expect to make something out of yourself?" He asks Kiden. "I man, compared with most of us you are terribly normal. I am half-alien, and a clone. Rose is a stabby pirate."

Kiden Nixon has posed:
"Uhm... my dad was an NYPD cop, I watched him get gunned down in front of me when I was 11.. my powers manifested when one of the gangbangers' little brother decided to get his 'in' to the gang by coming after me. I broke his arm.. on accident. So he brought a gun to school to kill me. I used my powers to get out of the way.. and he shot my favorite teacher instead. To keep my mom and brothers safe, I hit the streets, been living homeless in New York for the last five years. Had a lot of strange shit happen, lost more people along the way..." Kiden lifts a shrug and glances at the floor, scuffing her toe against it, "Lots of blood, lots of death, suffering. The usual fun stuff." Glancing back up, she offers a wry smile, "All of it without a mask. Never been part of a team, never had any money for anything.. so I just get by as I am."

Looking back to Conner, she smiles faintly, "He took me in at my lowest, helped me get turned around, brought me into the Outsiders." Then over to Conner with a snort, "Nobody ever expects mutants to make anything of ourselves. Nobody really tends to think of us at all, until they're forced to. Also, oddly.. half-alien more welcome in the world than a mutant. There are literal hate groups dedicated to the 'mutant menace'. They made giant robots to kill or capture us. Government made. There are still whole ass trafficking rings dealing specifically in mutants. Pretty sure you're more 'normal' than I am, Conner. Stabby pirate, too." She flashes a brief grin towards Rose, "Ravager is a great codename."

Rose Wilson has posed:
Rose Wilson stabs a finger towards Con, then. "I am *not* a pirate, and I never was. The proper term is mercenary." All the same, she is smiling when she says it.

"My dad is crazy-rich, mostly because he charges a premium for his murderous services. I should've been raised like a mafia princess, except my dad was more like a sadistic drill sergeant than a Don."

Conner Kent has posed:
"I made myself normal-ish," points out Conner. He is not going to remind them he was created as a WMD. It is not a cool thing to say, or remember. "Hey, whatever makes you happy, princess," he replies at the stab-poking. "Myself. I am happy you are back, and happy you are not in jail. Welcome back. I was showing Kiden around the boring areas of the Roost. But I am told Laura already showed her the training facilities."

Kiden Nixon has posed:
"My dad was great.. I just wish he coulda been around longer. But.. mom's remarried from what my brother was saying, so it sounds like they're doing alright for themselves." Kiden lifts a small shrug and a faint smile, then glances to COnner with a grin. Looking back to Rose, she nods, "Laura's training me in hand to hand and weapons. Grueling, but I'm learning good stuff!"

Rose Wilson has posed:
Rose Wilson lifts her uncovered brow at Con. "Normal-ish? None of us are NORMAL-ish." she replies back. "But I'll be happy to show you what I know sometime, too. At least the good stuff." She glances back towards the door again. "Right how, I think I'm gonna grab a shower and see if I can scrub off the last of Tibet."
