Cast of Characters: Bunny Macleod, Sunny Harlow, Mark Grayson, Alura In-Ze

Bunny Macleod has posed:
In the facility, Cecil Stedman had brought coffee and hot cocoa for the two Viltrumites who were involved in the fight. Now they're all over the floor -- and his pants. And partially Mark probably, but he brushes his jacket off first as his blue eyes settle on Mark and Sunny in turn, and then he speaks.

"You might wanna st down." he growls at Mark.

"It's not good." he finally decides to lay it out. "Whatever she ingested made her insides look closer to a Bolognese than what should be survivable. Her own immune system started trying to destroy her organs and other cells. Pretty much every bone in her upper body is broken, but the spinal column looks all right. Small favors." he states. "Doc gives her less than a one in thirty chance of survival, but we don't know what the long term affects of someone ingesting a DNA melange pill is going to have on a human body."

He pulls up a chair himself.

"Humans aren't meant to take the same level of damage as you are, and whatever she took is keeping her together long enough to stabilize, but we don't know if she's going to wake up."

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Sunny herself was still in her hospital bed, a cast around her right arm and left leg respectively not exactly leaving her the most balanced look even before one took into account the bruises all over her face and trailing down beneath her hospital gown.

But those words has her sitting up none the less, fingers coming to grasp the railing tight.

"Then make -sure- she does!" the blonde speaks. "Alien tech, super robot stuff, magical healing, whatever...With everything out there, every hero or magician or alien, you must be able to do...something!"

Mark Grayson has posed:
The SHIELD facility outside of Burbank, California, had been brought into service shortly after the Viltrumite known as Omni-Man had come to Earth. It had been in service for nearly two decades, before it seemed that the Viltrumite they were assisting and keeping an eye on, now known as Nolan Grayson - has announced his retirement and said he no longer had his powers.

Cecil Steadman never bought into it, and managed to keep the facility open with a skeleton crew, a hunch that paid off when Nolan's son, Mark was born, and a few years later, the arrival of the Viltrumite that would become Sunny Harlow.

Now with two Viltrumites to watch grow, the facility, from the outside appearing to be one of the numerous tech startups in the area.

Inside, there's a reception area and beyond, there is the secure door. The first floor is the surveliance floors. The house across from the Graysons serves as a lookout on the Grayson family. There's camera feeds of Mark and Bunny's apartment in New York. Of Sunny's place. Of Joe's Diner. Of Rain Beau's Dueling Piano Bar. Every place with a tie to one of the Viltrumites has eyes on the pair.

Below that is the medical and sciences level. In a locked off area, there are scientists that are working on figuring out what could harm the pair - out of sight. They are not Kryptonians. A rock will not stop them. They seem to only get stronger with each set back.

The medical section has three medbeds. One for each Viltrumite - Mark, Sunny and Nolan. And an operating theater, where Bunny is at the moment.

Mark is with Sunny in her room, taklking to Cecil.

His fists ball to his sides in anger. "You knew about this. And you let it happen!" he roars angrilly. "If she dies, so help me...." his voice is not a threat, it's a deadly promise as glances out the door, ready to leave, to head to Bunny's side.

He will not let her be alone. Sunny's words hit home. She has hope. It's all they really can have. He looks at the spilled coffee and chocolate on the floor, on his gown. "Cecil, you said you could help her. I'll do whatever you ask. Just... just save her life. Please."

Alura In-Ze has posed:
The first hint that something isn't quite right happens when a shadow fades in over the top floor of the secret facility. Before disengaging the cloak the crystalline Kryptonian ship did not even shroud its presence below. Now the sun twinkled against it and its jagged edges cut hard dark lines in shadow on the ground. That is when the facility's detection systems become aware of the alien vessel.

The structure of the ship shifts as its underside opens up. Superwoman drops down from the sky and lands at the front door of the secret facility. Following her, Kelex, a hovering crystalline robot. Behind Kelex, several floating containers all bob behind her as she strides in to the build.

"Sorry to barge in unannounced," Alura says to reception, "but time is of the essence." Usually the S and the cape mean she can go where she pleases and is greeted with open arms. Secret SHIELD bases aren't exactly that kind of welcome. Her eyes scan about until she sees, then hears, the patients below and Agent Steadman.

Alura has a debt to pay to Sunny and Mark. Bunny she has not met but when she heard what had happened it was an immediate emergency response for her.

The lights flicker in the facility as Alura activates her bracer. The elevator door normally locked away for security reasons goes 'ding' as its doors open. She walks past their security section. She doubts any of the agents would think it's a good idea to try and stop her. She can already hear one hitting the comms back to the Triskelion for guidance.

Alura enters the elevator with Kelex and her floating equipment. She gives the bewildered onlookers a small nod, "Please, go about your business." The doors shut and it descends down to the secured medical and sciences level.

Bunny Macleod has posed:
"We've already done what we can. She's resting, an' your mom's sitting with her."

Cecil does not mention that he suggested giving her an easy out due to the damage sustained. Mark's already pissed off.

He does turn however, thin lips pressing together with disapproval as he gives a breath out. "But maybe her choice to broadcast openly to every heroic group she could is gonna pay off. You're one lucky kid, Mark, that she had brains in her skull to live-cast what your dad was saying. Every word about the Viltrumite Empire, preparing Earth, right down to..." he trails off, but stops short.

"Seems we have a Kryptonian on their way down." he rises from his seat and straightens his tie.

"I s'pose we oughta welcome them. You good to wheel about, Harlow?"

And a wheelchair is teleported in, just in case.

"And we'll see about getting you to Bernice's room."

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"I'll crawl there if I had to," Sunny affirms, coming to swing her legs around and out of the bed. A little dramatic given that she could probably attempt to fly but...well it was an emotional time.

A kryptonian on the way? Well, Sunny only knew three of them...but any help at all was a godsend.

Mark Grayson has posed:
"I don't need the speech, Cecil. I need you taking care of..." And that's when the lights flash and the dull red lights of an alert go off as Alura makes her descent. "No." he says, a cold eye given to Cecil. "You're the lucky one."

Pushing past Agent Steadman, Mark pushes through the door into the hallway beyone with his good shoulder, ready to face whatever it may be head on. If it's his father coming down to finish the job, it will be a hell of a place to make a last stand.

But when Cecil says it's a Kryptonian, the young Viltrumite's lips pull into a thin line. His face is battered, bruised and swollen. His left arm is still in a sling. The hospital gown hangs down to his knees, but he is still ready.

It is only when he recognizes Alura that Invincible shows the first signs of relief. "Alura!" he announces, hand loosening at his side. "Don't worry about us."

That said about him and Sunny as he points to the door where Bernice "Bunny" Macleod is currently in intensive care. "Bunny's in there. She's in the worst condition, her first!"

Alura In-Ze has posed:
Alura smiles when she sees Mark is upright. That's a good sign at least. "Invincible," she replies not knowing his mundane name. She nods at his insistence but motions to Kelex. "Find Indestructibelle as well and apply diagnostic to them."

While hovering along Kelex turns its upper body backwards and takes from one of the storage containers a small black device. As Kelex passes Mark it rotates back around to face forward and as it does so, presses the device to Mark's chest.

Alura ever so gently places a hand on Mark's shoulder and then moves past. A quick look up and down Agent Steadman and she presses on through the doors in to the operating theatre. The floating equipment comes to rest on either side of the bed and then plants itself down. An arch constructs itself from one side to the other followed by a blue light emitting from it, sweeping back and forth over Bunny's battered and broken body.

Kelex floats on in to the medical room where it approaches Sunny and places another black device on her chest. In a soothing voice it explains, "I am Kelex. This is a monitoring device linked to Alura In-Ze."

Holograms emitted from Alura's wrist begin to update with real time data about her body; including one hologram of her genetics. She pauses a moment as she glances over it and an eyebrow raises. With a few motions of her hands controlling the holographic interface she begins to map out the intrusive changes from her human genome -- only to quickly discover something unexpected.

"She's Homo Superior," Alura states mostly to herself but also to Kelex. A quick flick of her wrist, she discards the work and begins again. Because human and mutant may have similar roots but they are not the same.

"Immune system working overtime," A motion to the far wall brings up the epigenetic map of her immune system. "Smart body, wrong solution. Let's see if we can't calm this storm."

Bunny Macleod has posed:
The doors to the recovery room Bunny was in are opened as Alura walks through, tailed by Mark, Sunny, and bringing up the rear, Cecil.

The room has a lot of monitors. A woman with dark hair who bares more than a passing resemblance to Mark stands up from the chair she was in, upsetting a cup of tea that was balanced on the arm as she regards Alura sweeping in with authority, and she cries out:

"Who the HELL are you?!" grabbing the chair and readying for a swing.

    "Debbie -- it's all right -- she's--"

    "You /shut up/ Cecil!"

Meanwhile, Bunny is admittedly not saying much. She's on an oxygen mask, her pink hair has been carefully dutch braided (probably by Mark's mom), to keep it clean and clear of the bands holding it in place. She has a patch over one eye taped into place with a time and date. She has several IV bags and a PIC line leading under the pocket of a hospital gown that's better suited for kids -- it has pink bunnies on it. Monster Girl had used up the rest of their good stock and they never got the 'extra small adult' hospital gowns in. She's got monitors and wires and pads, her arm in a stabilizer and her legs covered beneath blankets.

"Yeah. We saw that her immune system was going haywire, probably from the possible changes of the DNA meant to incorperate into Viltrumite bodies. Human body -- mutant or not -- wouldn't know what to do with it." Cecil ignores the command from Mark's mom to shut up, and folds his arms behind his back. "So one of those IV's is a strong immunisuprresant. Weapon's grade. So no one sneeze."

Mark Grayson has posed:
As Kelex attaches the diagnostic, Mark doesn't fight it. Instead, he allows it, trusting Alura, especially since he's worked with her a few times before. And he's grateful for the assistance, in any form.

A quick upnod of his head and a quiet, "Thank you." is offered to the Kryptonian as she passes and touches his shoulder. She's quite motherly in that regard...

And his good eye widens as he realizes - his own mother is in there with Bunny and is totally not going to realize what's going on. He lifts off the ground to fly after Alura, he's too slow to walk still as he comes into the theater room. "Mom!" he calls out to Debbie. "It's okay, she's a friend!"

He comes over to Debbie, his eyes threatening to erupt in tears as he is hit with the double-whammy.

First, there is the relief that Debbie was here. That Bunny was not alone. That his mom hadn't abandoned them both when Nolan said... what he did.

And then there's the condition of Bunny. Hooked up to tubes and machines and god knows what else. He caused this. This is his fault. His shoulders slump, as he moves forward, grabbing his mom and pulling her into a fierce hug and a sob escapes from him.

He'll only need a moment. He's got to pull himself together. And he does. "Over here. With me and Sunny. Alura will help her." he promises quietly, a gentle tug before he's back over to Sunny.

And his hand drops down to hold hers. Because they're both concerned. He can only watch and wait and he has never felt so helpless before.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Wheeled by another or stubbornly wheeling herself along with her one arm? Sunny was indeed going to follow. Of course, there was Kelex scan, but compared to Bunny Sunny just had quite a bit of physical trauma that with the care she'd had was already healing quite well. She was in pain, but she was okay.

Her gaze came to Bunny and a soft gasp came from her lips at the sight. She'd not ever seen someone so injured before, and this was not where she'd want to start.

A hand out, gently offering a squeeze to Mark's own if he'd take it in reassurance both requested and offered while her gaze remained fixed on Bunny and Alura.

Alura In-Ze has posed:
Alura looks over to Debbie at her defensive (or offensive?) posture and chair. Her mouth opens to respond when Mark interjects. She waits and then explains, "I'm Alura In-Ze, Superwoman. A friend of.. your son." She looks back to Sunny wheeling herself in. A smile and nod is given to her too.

Both of them had aided her. One with Brainiac and the other with the Hegemony.

As Cecil tries to catch her up she looks at the immunisupprasant IVs and frowns a touch. "Declaring war on her immune system is not the answer. You've done the best you can - I understand." The holograms of her DNA and immune system readouts, structures and geometrically complex, are all written in Kryptonian. Her eyes keep scanning over them.

"There's a lot of antibodies immobilised. First things first." She brings up what could only be described as a Kryptonian keyboard of holograms and begins to manipulate them in the air with her finger tips. Glancing back at the altered DNA, she completes a change.

There's a pulse of light over Bunny's body and the epigenic readout of her immune system changes. Kelex watches and states, "77% compatibility Mistress." Alura pauses for just a moment and says, "More then." She works again on the hologram and there is another flash over light over Bunny's body.

"I'm adjusting her immune response to accept the changes to her body. After which I will give her a mild case of the common cold for the antibodies to attack." Kelex chimes in again, "93% compatibility."

"...Human beings are remarkably complex, homo superior even more so. Thanks to my brother in law's earlier work and Kal's work.. Superman.. I have a pretty good understanding of the way things are meant to work."

She presses her lips tightly for a moment, "But being a mutant changes the equation. Neither of them have documented much about their genetics since each mutation is very unique. And now we have an alien retrovirus interacting with it. That last 7% is up to her. Deploying rhinovirus." Another bathing her body this time in yellow light. She unplugs the immunosuppressant.

Bunny Macleod has posed:
"Mark what's -- is that the other Viltrumite? Sunny?" Debbie blinks before she's pulled into a hug, and she hugs back on Mark just as fiercely.

"I kept switching rooms trying to make sure no one was alone for too long." she whispers. "I'm sorry Iw asn't there when you woke up. They didn't tell me you were up--" she whispers quietly, trying to force the tears to stay and not progress down her cheeks as she brings her hands up and grasps Mark's cheeks. "Ohmigod, your whole face --" she whispers.

"Well of course we did with what we could. You think alien tech and mutant bodies just fall out of the sky on us?!" one of the aides -- Donald, Dufus, a pale, pasty guy who looks like he might have an interior of oatmeal complains as he turns and tells some guards to stand down.

The IV bag alert gives a harsh BEEP as the medication is taken off the line.

The rest of the IV's are pain meds, keeping her sedated and calm. Bunny doesn't seem too worse for wear other than the already present damage, though her O2 rises slightly.

"Well. I'll be damned." Cecil states quietly.

Mark Grayson has posed:
As Alura does her work, all Mark can do is wait and pray that what the Kryptonian does is the answer. He watches and listens, catching bits and pieces of the conversation as he draws in a breath, even if it still sears his lungs in pain where they are healing from numerous broken ribs.

He sees Sunny's hand, and Mark takes her hand in his, lacing their fingers together as he squeezes it. They'll be there when she wakes up. Because Bunny's got to wake up. "I'm surprised that her being a mutant wouldn't work in her favor..." Because that's all he's heard on the matter.

But then his mother is distracting him. "Yes. It is. Mom, this is Sunny Harlow. Incredibelle. She's a close friend of Bunny and I." he says in way of introduction.

"Sunny, this is Debbie Grayson. My mother." he offers in way of greetings. It's a short one, because he just heard Cecil's words and he looks up.

"Told you she was a fighter."

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Sunny had seen a lot in this year and change, going from doing the odd rescue and bank robber as a rookie to fighting killer robots and evil superheroes ...so alien healing technology? Well, she'd trust in it. She'd practically been praying for it after all!

"Hi," was all she could offer weakly to Debbie, almost lamely unsure of how to address the woman she'd probably hoped to meet but not on one of the worst days of her life.

Back to Bunny, the less toned beeping of the O2 sats probe had Sunny giving an excited squeeze to the hand she'd held. That was good right? The numbers going up?

Alura In-Ze has posed:
Alura's own readouts show several indicators rising. She nods with satisfaction. "Considering some mutants gain the ability to change their hair colour while others gain the ability to change the forces of nature it's a bit of a dice roll as to whether or not the mutation would help or hinder."

Alura flicks away the genetics monitors. That's a problem for a less life savey time. Up comes a holographic map of Sunny's internals. There's a lot of Kryptonian glyphs dotted all over her body. "Kelex," she points to the lungs.

Kelex places a robotic hand over her chest. The beam pulses purple and strikes its hand which translates down straight in to her lungs. The lungs puff back up as their punctures stitch back together.

Alura carefully draws the intubation tube out of Bunny's mouth and waits for that first breath of her own volition to return. When it does, her shoulders relax. "The last time I used this technology on a human was with Batman. It took time to repair all his damage - as it will take time to repair all of your friend."

Her organs are in a bad ways. The beam of light starts pulsing back and forth over her as Kelex withdraws. "I'm focusing on the critical components first. But it's a good time for you all to get your own rest. I won't let anything happen to her - I promise you that."

Mark Grayson has posed:
Perhaps sensing Sunny's trepedation with her mom powers, Debbie turns her attention to Sunny and puts a careful hand on her shoulder. "It's okay. It's nice to meet a friend of my son and Bunny." she offers in quiet reassurance. This may be a bad circumstance, but Debbie realizes she needs to be strong for the three kids. "Do you need me to contact your parents? I'm sure they would be concerned about you." comes her offer.

Mark feels the squeeze of Sunny's hand and he looks down towards her, offering a nod of confidence. "She's strong, Sunny. I have faith she'll pull through." His words are quiet, hopeful, not looking to interrupt the procedure that is happening through means he doesn't understand.

His dad would though, he realizes. And his hand tightens in Sunny as he feels that anger rising again, before Alura's words snap him out of his dark thoughts to listen.

There's a slow nod of his head. But hell, if Batman can take it - he's sure Bunny can!

Cecil frowns as he watches, hands stuck in his pockets as he glances up in a corner. A camera is there. He's not sure if it's working, but if it is, he's gathering as much information as possible. "I'm assuming you're not willing to share this technology with us lower life forms, huh?" he asks dryly. "Could use it if we're going to help the kids..." A glance over to Sunny and Mark. "...stand up to his father. Especially since they rejected a chance to be as powerful as he is." He sounds a cross between glad. And disappointed.

Bunny Macleod has posed:
All is still for a few moments then. There are breaths held, before Bunny's chest rises, and she takes a shallow breath, unaided, and slowly lets it out.

Several people appear to breathe sighs of releif, including Cecil who was pretty sure Mark was going to take a swing at him if it didn't work.

Alura In-Ze has posed:
Alura takes one of the black sensors and places it on Bunny's chest. The light keeps sweeping back and forth slowly repairing the damage done to her. So much kinetic energy. So much abuse. Far too much for one human, or mutant in this case. Yet another example of the bravery of this species.

Alura with draws her hands and glances at the holograms. Through them she looks at Cecil. "I'm sorry agent, but this world isn't ready for this kind of technology. It would do far more harm than good."

SHIELD has a whole division dedicated to the securing away of advanced technologies for exactly that reason. What can heal can just as easily harm. The wrong person with their hands on this medical technology could kill billions. "Your recording devices are paused. They'll resume when I am complete."

"As for Omni-Man. Well. It seems like the problems just keep piling on. Perhaps the solution isn't to be stronger, faster, more powerful - but instead to take that power away from him." Mark. Sunny. She knows their names now. A look to them both and she repeats, "Rest now."

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Maybe." Cecil muses, but there's a small string of curses with Alura announces that nothing was captured tonight.

Mark, on the other hand, doesn't care. Releasing Sunny's hand, he comes to Alura. "You didn't have to come. But you did. Thank you." he says gratefully. "Even if it is returning a favor. You... just thank you." His hand sets on Alura's forearm for a moment before he's the one moving to take a seat.

His mom needs time to rest. And Sunny needs to heal. He'll take this shift.
