Seeking the Sword Pt 2
Date of Scene: 11 January 2024
Location: Muspelheim
Synopsis: Going into the firey realm itself, Sonja and Angela seek her stolen blade!
Cast of Characters: Mary Jane Watson, Aldrif Odinsdottir

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
The wizard Agger had teleported the duo upon their return the morning after to the lava-filled realm of Muspelheim. Mary Jane had her blade out in front of her, and from mere seconds here was starting to sweat. "I really should've brought more water.." The silly issues with being human. Even with the charm saving her from the heat. It was probbly psychological in nature. "So what direction, My Lady?"

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
Angela holds her sword at her side as she starts walking along the path into the Dark Land, "I told you," she mutters, "We can see if anything is coming from a good distance but we'll have to deal with these hills," she explains as she climbs the rocky hill. She checks behind her then at the peak of the hill she says, "The amulet must be working, it's pretty quiet. We'll need to reach the caves before nightfall. That's where they keep their loot," she explains. She wipes her forehead as it's really humid at the moment, not just hot.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would nod, "And I presume that the caves are booby trapped the entire way and have magic and wards within?" Because being set about by hordes of small monsters in close, confined quarters where they knew every centimeter of them was going to be ever so fun. "And can you sense your weapon?"

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
Angela smirks a bit as she walks down the hill on the other side, "How am I supposed to know?" she mutters sarcastically, "My weapon? It's not hard to track, but The Goblins are devious little tricksters so the caves probably will be booby trapped. You have a plan for that?" she wonders.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would sigh, "Well, honestly the way I'd normally go about it is with fire. But, since everything here is fire immune.." She would smirk. "And this is your sword, I thought you would lead the charge ina fter it. But, if you want for me to come up wtih a plan.."

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
Angela huffs, "You thought that, huh? You're right, the direct way is usually the best," she explains like a jerk, "They won't be weak to any fire or heat but I think we can surprise them if you can stop shuffling your feet," she explains. She puts her hand out as she gets to the bottom of the hill, "Wait stop, look at those two large rocks up ahead."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would glnce at the rocks, "Yes, are those gunpowder or you simply going to launch them in there? I was just going to suggest we do something with those." She ould point over to the floating hair ribbons of Angela. "How far can you extend them?"

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
Angela hmms, "They're something like Earth gunpowder but The Goblins hit them with their fire swords to light them up," she says and then nods, "I think we can carry some and use them but don't drop them," she suggests. Her ribbons poke at the rocks and Angela walks closer to the fire rocks for her ribbons to slink around some to hand them to Mary Jane.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would nod over and smile, "Well, I'm thinking that you extend them as far as you can and just whack them onto the walls and the ground." The rocks held in the ribbons. "It makes a lot of noise, sets off traps, and makes it hard for the goblins to tell where exactly we are. If you can backfire their traps on them all the better." Taking the rocks given to her.

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
Angela smirks, "Just whack them? Just like that huh?" she asks and starts walking again, taking another path, "I wish it were that simple every time," she mutters, "The loot will probably be in the back if they're smart so don't set off any traps in there," she explains.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would nod, "Well yes, that makes sense. Far be it for them to want to make it easy for invaders." Her expression is amused. "We can sneak past and bypass some of them, but we're going to get spotted in. That's too likely." Sonja might be a skilled thief, but not underground in another realm against things in their home turf. "How many are there, you think?"

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
Angela points up ahead as she walks the trail, "Down there are the caves. Stay in the shadows," she advises and then thinks about what Mary Jane says. Some voices can be heard down below in the valley where the caves are, "A large amount, that's how many."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would muse softly and listen. "Too many for us to just find a defensive spot and get them to rush us and gut them all and walk over their corpses when the survivors flee." Even the two of them couldn't take on what must be at least a hundred or so. She would glance in the direction of the caves. "So shall we My Lady?"

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
Angela smirks, "If we watch our backs, we should be able to handle it," she explains, "And if there's no surprises," she adds. She raises her sword and discards the rest of her equipment like the pouch at the side of the path, "Remember, use the rocks once we're close enough to give the surprise we need," she says to Mary Jane. She raises her sword and quickens her pace down the path into the Valley of the Caves <tm>.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would head into the valley of the caves. And goes to hum as she does so. And when she goes into the caves.. She moves almost with total silence. Pressing herself to the walls and the darkness, eyes darting ahead to scan for threats. Listening alertly and almost not seeming to breahte as she would do so. Not a murmur, not a sound as she would walk along.

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
Angela presses against the wall and raises her chin as she sees light up ahead in the cave. Suddenly, there's a loud roar that echoes through the caves. Two (2) large CAVE TROLLS emerge from around the corner and charge at Mary Jane and Angela. She motions these monsters closer and waits for them while the chittering of the goblins can now be heard behind them.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Lovely. So much for stealth! Mary Jane goes to draw out her blade, and goes to charge over at the cave troll! She doesn't try and take them head on - that would let them bring their far greater strength to bear. Instead she goes to try and dart to the side to try and go for a quick slash over at the hamstrings of one. Trying to kill it's mobility if she can! And maybe even have it topple onto the others. But they're faced by far stronger enemies in close quarters. They have to neutralize them fast.

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
Angela chops at the cave troll nearest to her as she is able to duck it's massive swipe of its claws. The two trolls seem to have large claws for their attacks. Angela CHOPS at the troll's shoulder and it roars up in anger, taking the sword with it. Angela frowns, "Nice," she mutters, "You'll pay for dealing with us," she comments.

The other troll clammers at Mary Jane and keeps swiping at her as she dances around chopping at its legs. Suddenly it leaps at her! Perhaps it's totally annoyed at how quick she is.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
All right, she has to take it down quick. As it goes to charge at her her hand goes to blur - flipping out a small dagger and throwing it at the eye of the charging troll. Even if her aim is good, it's likely that the blade will just deflect off of bone to no damage. And the troll is too heavily scarred to be thrown off a beat by something simple, and too bulky to have an issue with the strike slowing it down. But, if her aim is good.. Then it's a blinded enemy - or one with blood going down it's face.

She darts to the side, intent on letting the thing slash at her and hopefully ti's momentum carrying it past!

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
The large troll in front of Angela whips around with her sword in his shoulder and she ducks under his lunge as he too comes directly for her. She grabs at the hilt of her sword and twists it rather viciously while it's in the troll's shoulder. Ouch. There's some ugly popping sounds and she chops it again to send it down.

The other troll at Mary Jane is really upset. The dagger is embedded in his one eye though it has another. It charges right past Mary Jane in his anger and plummets into the wall.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
It smashes over into the wall, and then Mary Jane is upon it again before it can hopefully rally! She goes to slash out with her blade, going to try and chop it over at the neck rather than through the gut. Her intent is to if not take off the head then sever the spinal column of the thing! She's not necessarily strong enough to behead something so huge, so she goes for a strike that will cripple it no matter what and not risk her sword getting stuck over in it. Then it's going to be a quick move to counter the goblinst hat will be coming as she looks at her fellow psychotic redhead to see her status.

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
The troll lets out another yell as Mary Jane chops at his neck and it falls backwards in a bloody, censored mess. It doesn't seem able to recover any time soon.

Meanwhile, Angela has stabbed and chopped her troll but eyes further down the cave, "Stop fooling around over there with that thing! Get the rocks ready!" she lets out, "Here they come!" she says as some waist-high creatures of fire start rushing out around the corner, as if running with no regard.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would go to charge in after Angela and swear back at her. She gets the rocks ready, and is then ready to hurl and launch it as she's in position. A few more obscenities come out as she goes to howl at the goblins.

"Come monsters, who wants to be teh first to have your guts strewn throughout the caverns? Who wants to be the ones left alive hearing the cries of your gutted comrades? Who wants to be the first to be strangled in your own guts?" She's going to howl at them like a banshee!

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
After throwing one of the rocks, the explosion sends goblins in all directions. Angela meanwhile closes in on the goblins and lowers her sword down like a buzzsaw, "Waaaaaa!" she lets out, cleaving back and forth, "Die!" she adds. After a few moments, a sudden gust sends Angela off her feet and some distance from Mary Jane. A magic gust of wind! Oh no! Angela tumbles but isn't down for the count, "Watch...out...!" she lets out in warning as the magic gust of wind suddenly comes for Mary Jane too.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
A gust of wind taht's strong enough to knock the Asgardian off her feet also sends Mary Jane flying! She's not nearly as braced as Angela is either, so it sends her reeling as she's trying to rapidly get back up to her feet as soon as she can. Swearing over and trying to quickly rally and use the wall to prop herself up.

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
A tiny little Goblin giggles like an asshole and seems to be directing things. He's at the back seemingly where they need to go. "That little one," Angela mutters, "I'm going to enjoy stabbing you!" she calls out but the Little One sends some Goblins at Angela for her to deal with. She chops a couple off of her but starts wrestling with the others. Some five or six Goblins also rush at Mary Jane. Uh oh! Now separated, Angela and Mary Jane can't work together! What a problem!

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Lovely, they're each separated now and can't work together. Fortunately, Mary Jane has some things on her for just such an occasion. Two sealed bottles held in heavy glass with rags within. She goes to kick out with her blade to make the goblins have to stay away from her while they swarmed. Then one bottle is yanked out, wick lit.. And hurled.

Greek fire was the terror of the seas for millenia for very, very specific reasons. And the goblins might be resistant to fire.. But they probably weren't resistant to being /on/ fire from the fuel-jelly blaze soaking them!

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
The Goblins are set on fire easy enough but it takes a few minutes for them to drop over. Meanwhile, they leap at Mary Jane like some firecracker! Angela is backed up against the wall while struggling with the Goblins. Her ribbons tear the nearest foes to shreds and shows that isn't the place to be, so most of them close enough don't fare too well. She kicks another into the growing fire and realizes the floor is going up. The fire cascades over the floor and threatens to send the whole place up, "Dammit!" Angela curses, amongst other things. "Break away! Join me and charge to the back!" she lets out.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
It wasn't the best idea, but Sonja tends to set things on fire wherever she goes. Mary Jane argues with her internally while going to chase along after Sonja, goblins nipping at her heels as she slashes at them as they pursue! And goes to try and skewer her way to link up with Angela. At least the two aren't separated now. "They'll have to run through it to get to us." And if they're really lucky the flames will go on until they consume all the oxygen in the area.

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
"There! The Little One!" Angela cries out and points nearby. The pathway behind them goes up in flames and really the only way is to the back. Angela looks up and can see the Goblin's loot nearby, along with her sword sitting on a pedastal. "This was a poor excuse of a test, Little One!" she lets out.

"But you'll never escape!" he laughs.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
And there comes Red Sonja charging! Her outfit has been torn, melted off and just covering her strategically in threads. Her sword is blazing from the heat and the fire,e ven as ash drops from it as blood is burnt away. Embers drop down her body, parts of her hair smoke.

"Come, freak!" They're not surrounding the pair. The goblins are in the same room with Sonja and Angela. "If w edon't then neither do you!" Mania and almost feral bloodlust in her eyes. "So come and die like the dogs you are!" She goes to let out a shrieking cackle of a madwoman, before going to charge in at the goblin if she can that has been going on about how this si a 'test'.

Sonja has a metahuman physique. She can run for short periods at sixty kilometers and can lift up to a ton. So when she charges the goblin, swinging her blade of secondary adamantine with several dozen meters to build up momentum, hopefully she can cleave him right down the middle and bulldoze past whatever guards or magic he has in the way!

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
Angela watches the true Red Sonja come out and guards her back as she rushes foward like a whirlwind, cleaving the goblins aside, their guts splattering against the wall. Some others---their appendages fly up in the air dismembere until she's through them.

Angela turns away to cleave a few to keep them from encircling Mary Jane, being totally helpful, and she misses the end of Mary Jane's massive, bloody charge. Mary Jane's sword goes completely through the Little One and skewers him to the wall, painfully putting a stop to his work before he can even open his mouth to cast a spell. Angela finally turns about to see Mary Janes work and nods, "Good," she mutters, observing the guts and entrails. She leans forward and wipes her sword from the pedastal, raising it in the air with some pride.

The only thing left are the hot flames which block the trail back.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Now they have Xiphos back, and just enough of a head start over to be away enough from the goblins. Sonja's bloodlust is strong - but even she isn't capable of running through that amount of fire. Evne protected from the heat, she still has to breathe. And it's blazing for too far for her to just charge through it.

"Does the spell the wizard gave us have the capacity to take us /now/?"

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
Angela waves Mary Jane back from the flames, "We have to try! Touch the amulet!" she tells her, although isn't sure about the procedure since they're not exactly following directions. "Agger! Dammit!" she lets out loudly, "Summon us back. Now! Summon us back dammit! Can you hear us?" she calls out.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson goes to grab over at it.. Then as an afterthought goe sto grab the head of the goblin that had done the testing, lopped off over and ith the spinal column hanging out where she had beheaded him. She goes to hold her arm over on Sonja's, gonig to let out a mad cackle with glee.

"When you get to Hel, tell them that Sonja sent your damned bones!"

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
Suddenly, Mary Jane and Angela are in a different place. They're in the middle a small cabin where Agger looks at them crossly, "You did not follow directions. I told you---"

"Will you shut up!" Angela lets out. She then rubs her neck and adds, "We have completed our task and owe you a debt," she mutters, a little less annoyedly. A little less.

"Hmmf. I should say so," Agger also mutters.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would pant over, "And just as promised.." She goes to make sure to not bleed on the floor. "Third rock to the right of your door away from the cobblestones." In it is the prize that she promised that was worthy over of the amulet. When Agger does go to open it, he'll find a DVD collection of Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
Angela walks outside and glances at Mary Jane, "You offended him didn't you?" she asks her with a smirk, wondering how bad this situation will be. She slings her broken belt over her shoulder and offers Mary Jane's own sword back to her, "Here, the loan is no longer needed."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would take the sword over, and move to after a few moments realize that she has nothig on it to clean the blade with. "Come then. Let us be off before the wizard calls us greater fools than we are already." She goes to offer the head over to Angela. "For your troubles."

Aldrif Odinsdottir has posed:
Angela waves her hands dismissively, "It is you who should keep it," she says and pats Mary Jane on the shoulder, "Twas glorious," she says, "I did get singed though," she admits, then starts walking, "Tis no matter! Time for mead! Ha!" she lets out loudly.
