Never Forget the Rice!
Date of Scene: 23 January 2024
Location: Alley Behind Sion
Synopsis: Remo takes care of the thugs with some unneeded help from Betsy.
Cast of Characters: Remo Williams, Betsy Braddock

Remo Williams has posed:
His name was Remo and he was walking home.

It was his own fault, forgetting the rice. He'd thought they had more than enough, but Chiun had wanted him to pick up some wild rice to get with duck tonight, and Chiun was very particular about it, saying, "If you had asked me, then you would already know. Never assume you know how things are. That leads to mistakes, and assassins only make one mistake. Their last."

By that time, Remo was already out the door before Chiun go to where he woukd call Remo a "pale piece of a pig's ear".

Betsy had managed to escape the inside of the club, closing the door, unseen in the alleyway, but it gave her an unencumbered view from across the street, enabling to see the man walking along with a shopping bag in his hands....and the four men in the alley just ahead.

Before she could think to warn him, the men leaped out from the alleyway, right at him from three feet away...

...and they missed.

Allfour of them.

The man they tried to amush was still walking down the sidewalk.

Remo Williams has posed:
The men looked at each other, and Betsy recognized them easily. Pacho, Giggles, Rough Rider and Nails. Members of the AG-19 gang. B&Es, car theft, arson for hire and other outdoor sports. Big, capable in a fight, a little dumb, but the idea of them missing a man completely from a few feet away stretched the limits of imagination.

"HEY! ASSHOLE!"

Almost forgot. Sparkling repartee, too.

They rushed over and stood in front of him.

And suddenly they were behind him again. Betsy had been paying attention this time, and she realized he had moved, FAST, to sidestep the gang members.

Betsy Braddock has posed:
Betsy wasn't a huge fan of owning a nightclub. Sure, it was a place in the City. And yes, it was nice to have a place outside the mansion. But occasionally one gets an unwelcome element.

And she just hated getting a silk blouse torn while making sure things were sorted properly.

But, when the security cameras were picking up the four-on-one fracas in the back alley, she slipped unobtrusively out, as only a ninja could, and watched the fight. An eyebrow arched as she watched Remo's movements, almost chuckling despite herself as she observed the moves.

Then she saw one of them pulling out a switchblade, and instinctively she reached out with her mind, just to let him know, << Switchblade, coming on your six. >> Not that it appears he needed the help, but when the stakes get raised she had to at least say something. Relatively speaking.

Remo Williams has posed:
The man seemed to just shift to one side, then his hand moved up and the switchblade clattered on the sidewalk. Nails looked down at the knife, then over at his hand, which he'd lost all feeling to. All the way up to his shoulder.

The man stopped and turned around slowly. "Boys, don't you think you should get on home? Street lights are on."

"Hand over the cash, man, or this night's gonna end bad for ya."

He sighed and reached into his pocket, took out his wallet, tossed it ver to the gang members, then picked up his groceries and started walking again.

Giggles picked up the wallet, opening it. From the look on his face, he was clearly not seeing money inside.

Betsy Braddock has posed:
Giggles would probably have said something at that point, except for the fact that there was a psychic blade thrust into his skull. His eyes rolled back and he fell to the ground, unconscious, and Betsy was standing there. Her attire was rather stylish, a black silk blouse and slacks, and she was wearing heels. Hardly an intimidating figure, save for the fact that she just managed to take out one of the mooks from out of nowhere.

"I suggest you follow his charitable advice." She smiles faintly, nodding towards Remo, "I believe you have been told that this is not your territory. You should endeavor to remember that." Her accent is classically British, though her appearance is far more exotic than that.

Remo Williams has posed:
Rough Rider went a satisfying shade of white. Oh, good, he remembered the LAST time he'd seen her at work.

He didn't even bother waiting for his friends, taking off at top speed. The two remaining thugs saw how Rough Rider reacted and took off as well, leaving Giggles to his fate.

Looked at her, then at Giggles. "Okay, I don't know what you did, but I'm glad you did it."

Betsy Braddock has posed:
Betsy smiles slightly at that, "Well, it's just a little trick I can manage." She shrugs a bit, then crouches down, plucking the wallet from Giggles' unconscious grip. "With the wallet being empty, I suspected their reaction would not be pleasant. And it seemed like the proper time to intervene. Normally people don't go walking around the back alleys in this neighborhood, though." She arches a brow at Remo, offering him the empty wallet back.

Remo Williams has posed:
"Well, I only had enough to grab the groceries we needed. Little Father is sort of...particular about these things. Aw, rats. Here we are, talking in the street and I haven't even introduced myself. Name's Remo."

Betsy Braddock has posed:
Betsy laughs softly at that, "Elizabeth, but everyone calls me Betsy." She nods, "Little Father. Your sensei?" She seems to be familiar enough with that kind of title, that she intuited what he might be.

Plus with Remo's moves, it's not exactly a hard guess. "Though, if you have the time to get a drink, you can step inside the club. I happen to know the owner." Her lips quirk in a bit of a wry grin at that.

Remo Williams has posed:
"Normally I'd find it hard to refuse an invitation from a lovely lady, but I'll have to take a rain check. I still have to cook dinner tonight. Listen, would you like to talk over lunch tomorrow? I discovered this lovely little Korean place that serves duck just the way Little Father likes it, and if you wouldn't mind a light meal and a little banter...?"

Betsy Braddock has posed:
Betsy grins slightly, "Well, Remo, lunch tomorrow then. I wouldn't mind having a chance to talk further." She nods slightly, handing Remo back his wallet, and gives him a wider smile, "And stay out of back alleys, unless you need more of a workout." With that, she slips back towards the back door of the building.

And in addition to some extra cash in Remo's wallet, there's a business card from Elizabeth Braddock, owner of Sion. So getting in touch with her for later isn't going to be an issue.
