Cast of Characters: M'gann M'orzz, Gar Logan

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
It's been quite some time since M'gann and Gar had last spoken, with the oddity of M'gann's chosen human face highly resembling Gar's mother, and how that came about. Not terribly long after, 'Megan Morse' delved deep into the quagmire of high school at Happy Harbor, a deep dive that managed to be interrupted often and for long periods by family emergencies that called her away. It's left her incognito for quite some time, and it's really been only the last month or so that M'gann has felt comfortable with really settling back into life on Earth. She managed to graduate from Happy Harbor and has enrolled in Metropolis University, has started reaching back out to old friends and comrades.

Which leads to a text to Gar Logan that becomes a conversation, and eventually, an invitation to lunch at Freddy's so they can catch up in person. Arriving promptly, she's still in her 'Megan' face, complete with wintery outfit and backpack full of books and binders from her classes. Still, she's smiling as she requests a table and mentions that there will be someone joining her shortly. Setting up so she can keep an eye on the door, she'll offer a cheery wave and smile towards Gar when he arrives.

Gar Logan has posed:
Time can get away from you. With a lot of things going on, people don't always mean to drift apart, but can it really be drifting apart when you don't know someone that well to begin with?

It's good that M'gann reached out to Gar, because it opens the door to do something about that. He was happy to hear from her, getting into a bit of small talk before agreeing to catch up in person.

Around the agreed-upon time, he strolls into the diner, dressed casually with the weather on the cool side: jacket over a shirt, pants, sneakers. It doesn't take long for him to find her. After all, she's the one who's got his mother's face, if a more youthful version of it. It's close to all he knew, anyway.

"Hey there," he says, the wave only slightly awkward, the smile the same.

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
"Hey, Gar. It's great to see you again," she offers with a slightly awkward tilt to her smile. Standing as he approaches, she tucks a lock of hair behind one ear and ducks her head, "I'm really sorry to have fallen out of contact. I spent a lot of time travelling to deal with family issues. I'm afraid I sort of.. fell off the radar for some time." Her smile brightens, "But I'm glad that you accepted the invitation!"

Motioning to the empty seats, she sits herself back down and motions to the backpack, "I'm between classes for the next couple hours, thought maybe we could, you know, catch up with each other. Maybe start building towards a friendship that's more than just.. an uncanny resemblance?" That awkward smile is back before she clears her throat and forces it away.

"Either way, lunch is on me, order whatever you want," Megan tries a more normal smile and picks up her own menu, "I've only eaten here a few times, but they make some great hot sandwiches, and the fries are nice and crispy."

Gar Logan has posed:
"Same here, Megan," Gar says, and he offers a hug since that's kind of his way of doing things. Whether she accepts it or not doesn't change things at all. "Oh, it's cool. You've got stuff going on. I've got stuff going on. I know how it is." He shakes his head in the process of sitting down. "It's still weird, seeing you look like that, but a part of me likes it. It's a good way to remember..you know, her." He can't recall exactly how they put it the first time around, but he did give her his blessing to continue using that face.

He adds, "And you can never have too many friends, especially ones who can do awesome things." Clearing his throat, the green-skinned man runs a hand through his unkempt head of hair, giving her a grin that exposes the snaggletooth of a mild underbite. "'Order whatever you want on me' is a good way to go broke when I'm around, but I'll keep it light. I'm not /that/ mean. But the food budget at Titans Tower is pretty big, and not just because of me."

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
She will absolutely go in for the hug, and feel thankful for it! When pulling out of it, she offers a faint smile, "I know, but I still feel terrible that we fell out of contact after that initial meeting. I had hoped that we would end up good friends." The smile brightens a touch, "I'm still hopeful for it." Pausing, Megan glances around, then gives a small nod, "I just hope that I do her justice. Your mother was an amazing woman, on and off the screen." She smiles once more, "I looked her up. After that first meeting. I saw all the good she did as a scientist. As a mother. I'm not quite following in her footsteps, but I like to think that I'll help to carry the legacy of her good works forward."

"Agreed on both counts. Though I like to think all my friends can do awesome things, even if they can't all be as awesome as you." Megan flashes a brief grin before letting out a small laugh. "Noted. But I meant it, eat up. I have a decent portfolio, I think I can handle this one time." Megan pauses, glancing around again, then giving a small nod, "I was there for meeting Irie's new boyfriend, albeit in my own awesome form. Superboy invited me, he thought it might help me make more friends now that I'm back from my travels." She grins, "They have some very big appetites. I helped carry in some trays of food."

Gar Logan has posed:
Garfield Logan keeps it polite and appropriate, without a doubt. "Aww, don't be that way. It's not too late to be friends, and you should come around the Tower sometime. Have you met anyone else there yet?"

Fingers interlock once he's seated across from her, visible atop the table. "I wish I could remember more about her. The first time I turned into an animal on my own, she was in danger from a black mamba and I just reacted. The next thing I knew, I was a mongoose. But then there was the storm, the boat, and the waterfall..."

Trailing off, he shakes his head. "If I wasn't so scared, maybe I could have saved them. But they told me to save myself. I know they were really smart and knew a lot." He shrugs, as if to suggest he's not sure what else to say about them.

Grabbing the menu, he looks it over after she gives him carte blanche to go wild with it. "All right, if you say so. I'll still keep it light." 'Light' in this case means a big double cheeseburger, a cheesesteak, and a chicken sandwich along with fries and onion rings. "This should tide me over until dinner," he quips. "And yeah, the speedsters put away a lot of food, too. Maybe I need it because of what I do. But what have you been doing? Your classes? Travel, you said?"

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
"I'm not sure who all else that showed up is from the team and who was a plus one, like me. There were a lot of people there." Megan offers a smile and shrug before adding, "But I'm glad to know that we can still be friends. I'd really like that. And, you know, maybe it will get less weird if we can hang out more."

Nodding, she offers, "She did a lot of good in her work, and it's clear from her old social media that she was *so* proud of you." Megan clears her throat and offers a small, shy smile, "And her time acting was an inspiration to at least one girl, gave her the courage to go seek out her own dreams."

Reaching over, she offersa a gentle squeeze of her hand over his interlocked hands before pulling back and giving a nod, "I... know what it's like to lose your parents, to wonder if there was something more you could have done. The guilt of survival is a heavy burden, and I am sorry to share it with you. But.. I am very glad that they made sure you survived, because I'm very glad that I got to meet you."

She chuckles softly at his order and glances up at the water, "Make that two of everything. Oh, and I think I will try the orange soda this time." Megan looks back to Gar, lifting a shrug, "I don't *need* the food, but sometimes I enjoy the experience." Her smile kicks back in and she nods, "I'm dual majoring in linguistics and business, with a minor in diplomatic relations. I want to be a translator. Not for some Fortune 500 company. For the civil engineer companies that go into third world countries and help to redesign and build new infrastructure for the people there. I want the world to be better." Mention of travel has her wincing, then nodding, "I have been trying to help Uncle Jon with some issues at home.. I think we largely have them resolved, but it was very touch and go for awhile."

Gar Logan has posed:
"Or it could get weirder, because I think I'm kind of a weird magnet. I attract it," Gar offers, a fleeting smile following the squeeze of his hands. "And..heh. She told me once that they celebrated a big breakthrough on something almost a year before I was born. It took me a while to figure out what that meant. Anyway, I'm glad you thought enough of her to want to, you know, honor her like that. They saved my life when I was barely old enough to walk and talk, and now part of the reason I'm doing all this is so what they gave up doesn't get wasted."

He whistles low under his breath, both at the duplication of his order and more. "See, I can't imagine not needing food. I always enjoy it. And you definitely sound like you're keeping yourself busy with all that. I'm just a mostly failed actor - no, don't say otherwise. It's been a while since I had any serious roles come my way. But I'm a guy who can turn into any animal out there and make people laugh, and I'm gonna do what I can to help others. Hopefully whatever stuff you had to take care of is in good shape."

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
Laughing lightly, she grins at him, "I think I definitely fall into the 'weird' category, even if I don't try to. So that tracks." There's a long pause where Megan simply stares at him, a vaguely confused expression on her face as she puzzles it through. When it hits, the understanding dawns across her face, chased immediately by a heavy blush, "...oh. I... oh." Clearing her throat, she smiles awkwardly, "There are.. two main sides of my family. And they've been at odds with each other for a very long time. I was... I favored the side of the family that I was not raised with, to my parents' everlasting disappointment Those old reruns gave me the strength to persevere until I could make contact with the other side of my family. You mother saved *me*, from a very lonely and painful childhood."

"My unique physiology means I can go for a long time without need for food, water, even air." Megan flashes a brief grin at him before giving a nod, "I've been trying. College courses, trying to have a social life. I even went on a few dates with a very nice young man named Jon." Pausing, she adds, "Yes, I realize the humor in that. His is short for Jonathan, though. Uncle John is just Uncle John." Tsking at him, she smiles, "Even if you aren't currently acting, that doesn't make you a failed one. Someday, I hope you get to find out from some kid how much your roles helped to inspire them, or got them through a rough point in their life. Because I can't believe that you, of all people, haven't inspired anyone, or made their life better. You've made mine better just by these few short meetings." Megan gives a small nod, "I think we have most of the issues worked out. There was a flare-up of tensions between the sides of the family and it required some very careful handling to get them to back down."

Gar Logan has posed:
Garfield Logan says, "Being normal is boring anyway." He can't help but laugh as she comes to realize what he was talking about with the timing of when he was born and the success leading up to it, leading to him extending a finger - even featuring a bit of a claw now - to tap once at her nose. "Mmmhmm. And yours sounds like a real Hatfield vs. McCoy thing, just different. If you don't know what that means, look it up."

He glances toward the kitchen - it /is/ a lot of food to come - before nodding slowly to her. "I'm glad she helped you then, even if you never met her. And if anything, I hope people learn a better respect for all the animals out there, about the balance instead of just taking them for granted."

Then, "It sounds like you're fitting in well, then. Dating, learning, eating even if you don't have to..heh. You know, I should send you an invite to the, uh, wedding. The date isn't set yet, though, so I guess that's premature. But I can put you on the list."

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
Laughing, Megan lifts a shrug, "I strove to be normal, but my life is anything but. Still, I stubbornly clung to it for awhile before I finally just admitted that I will never have or be 'normal'.. and that I wouldn't give up my weird, crazy life for anything." She down the comical eyes turning to follow that clawtip all the way to the tip of her nose, the tap making her blink before she smiles at him, "I know the story. They taught it in history class. And you're not wrong, though in my family, there is definitely one side that is much larger than the other."

Smiling brightly, Megan nods, "She helped me through the darkest years, even through my parents' death... until I was able to find my Uncle John. Not to.. to canonize her, but she did much to help me maintain my equalibrium during tough times." THere's another nod to his last comment, "That's one of the other reasons I hope to work where and how I want to work. It will let me use my more awesome self to help cut down on poachers and hunters that are bribing officials and agents to get away with their cruel acts."

Not terribly long after, their food starts to come out, starting with the cheesesteaks and fries. "I'm certainly trying to! Wedding? I would love to attend! Yes, please. If allowed, I may even have a date to bring. Though which face is invited will determine if the date is simply friendly or.. possibly more." They get interrupted again, this time by the arrival of the cheeseburgers and onion rings. The chicken sandwiches can't be far behind!

This means that conversation will begin to lull as they dig into the food, with Megan expressing surprised enjoyment of the cheesesteak and onion rings, two things she hadn't really tried before. They can fall into companionable semi-silence as the food is enjoyed, able to enjoy each others' company without the need to talk.
