Negasonic Teenage Breakfast
Date of Scene: 10 March 2024
Location: Main Kitchen
Synopsis: Ellie and TJ meet in the kitchen. Secret arts of breakfast were discussed.
Cast of Characters: Negasonic, Talia Wagner

Negasonic has posed:
So. Coffee was a thing in the morning (11am), and Negasonic was dressed casually for her.

It was actually kinda chilly out, so she had thrown on an oversized sweater - black, with a skull motif on it, over her pajama bottoms and concert top. She hadn't got her makeup on yet, but she had put her piercings in, at least.

Black-painted short fingernails tap against her coffee mug as she lifts the steaming brew from the maker to her lips, heaving a gentle sigh as she finds a little bit of relaxation.

People were probably getting their early lunches in. But... she considered it breakfast time still.

Talia Wagner has posed:
The time change has absolutely ruined some people. One of these people is Talia Wagner. Losing that hour with the same alarm set is wretched. It's inhumane! Most people think it's a very bad idea.

Thusly the blue girl walks into the kitchen in a black tank top and pink and black plaid flannel pants and makes a bee-line for the coffee pot. Her glowing yellow eyes are somehow dimmer than normal, and her usually expressive tail is just a little droopy.

TJ is not a morning person, but she tries to fix it by pouring a large mug of the black gold. Did she even notice the Warhead? Hard to say. At least until she speaks. "Good morning. ... I think it's good. ... Too early."

Negasonic has posed:
It had ruined some people, and it'd be unfair to say it wasn't throwing Ellie off a little bit... but being that she was a night person anyways, well...

It didn't ruin her as much as normal. Her eyes dart to Talia as she enters - Talia was probably used to glances like that, considering. She tries to make it a little different by lifting her chin in an upnod for the other woman. "The time change. It's throwing everyone off," she says in something approaching sympathy. She had one heck of a RBF, though.

"Morning," she says, leaving out the good.

"It's Talia, right?" she says. She knew her but maybe not *knew* her knew her.

But Talia tended to stand out. "Kinda figured you'd be a night person."

Talia Wagner has posed:
TJ is, after all, a generally cheerful and upbeat person. Much like her father. The good in morning is an absolute reflex. She busies herself with the act of pouring her coffee. The right amount of sugar, no cream, the correct number of stirs. Her tail twitches in time to a rhythm only she can hear, and it's about the hot bean juice.

Finally done, she takes a sniff and a sip from her mug, the effects immediate and psychosomatic. Her tired, drooping tail lifts a little and her eyes seem to glow just a little brighter. "Yes, that's me! Please, call me TJ. Everyone does. ... Or should. Talia's too ... formal for most of the time," she says with a smile, the tips of her elongated canines showing.

"You're ... I'm sorry, I don't remember your actual name. Negasonic is fantastic, but I doubt it's on your birth certificate. And I am a night person, to no one's shock."

Negasonic has posed:
Ellie takes a long sip of the lifegiving coffee, her brow furrowed as she listens to the upbeat mutant. She had her coffee black.

Like her soul.

(That was a lie there was a little bit of that flavored creamer in it, but don't tell anyone).

There was a lightening to her overall demeanor though, with the way TJ reacts to the coffee, a small charmed little look briefly - ever so briefly - sliding across her features. "TJ. Teej?" she offers, throwing that last one out there. Not that two syllables was too hard, but, yanno. "Ellie. Technically," she says. "No one calls me that. Negasonic, Nega," she says. "Ellie works though. Just might have to say it more than once," she says. She takes another sip. "Probably why you don't remember it. You a breakfast sandwich kinda person, TJ?" she offers. "They have some frozen egg and sausage things in there. I was contemplating one."

Talia Wagner has posed:
TJ has that effect on people. Even when, well, jet lagged by time law. In this kind of thing, she is absolutely her father's daughter with her infectious positive attitude. Most of the time. That smile grows even wider at the mention of food. Because sleeping and being woken up too early because the clock demands it is hungry work.

"That sounds like a -fantastic- idea," she says, her tail rising even more. It's almost catlike how it can project her emotions. Someone will probably be amused by it.

"I've heard you can make them in an air fryer and they turn out a lot better. I'm sure there's one of those around here."

Negasonic has posed:
And that positivity did seem to be Ellie's weak spot, really.

The unabashedly positive types, others might call them annoyingly so. A lot of light for her usually grim demeanor. Not that Ellie became positive, no, but her ever-vibrating phone was hanging out on the counter. Her brows lift up when Talia says that.

"Really?" she says.

"I've never been trendy enough to use an air fryer. But if it works..." she says, with a small gesture.

"Let's give it a try?" Phone set on the counter to wiggle away, she sets coffee mug there too, before going to the freezer, opening it up with a woosh of that frozen air. Only to remove two sandwiches from their cardboard prison.

Which leaves the air fryer.

"... what does it even look like, anyways?" she asks.

And don't tell anyone, but that tail thing was adorb. She was glancing that way every so often.

Talia Wagner has posed:
Ellie's radiating cynicism is, to TJ, both adorable and a challenge. Like befriending a grumpy stray cat. Leave the tidbits out to get their attention and lower their guard, and the next thing you know, you have a new friend.

It's honestly shockingly similar.

"They're ... hm. Unless someone stuffed it somewhere...," she says, beginning to flit around the kitchen, showcasing some of her inhuman agility without effort. Cabinets open, she looks high and low. It doesn't take too long to find the black object with the handled drawer basket-thing. She tugs it closer to the edge of the counter, tugging the basket free. "Here it is! And they might be trendy, but they're really just a countertop convection oven." She beams, the caffeine kicking in, or just enjoying the company. "The one trendy thing that's actually worth a damn!"

She rummages through drawers, hunting down parchment paper and cooking spray, prepping the basket so nothing sticks. Mostly because she doesn't want to do dishes.

Negasonic has posed:
It's probably because a lot of it was just keeping annoying people away. She just had a different idea of what 'annoying' was.

People who were honestly happy, and open - she respected that, quite a bit. Because Ellie had been through some shit, and decided to adopt a lot of her persona to reflect that.

She takes a step away. In spite of being able to... you know, explode at the drop of a hat, she was disturbingly human, so she watches Talia flit about the kitchen like that.

"Whatever that is. My cooking skills begin and end at macaroni and cheese," she says glumly.

She did still have that reaction, though. As the cheeriness picked up, her glumness did as a counter, her lips - not yet painted dark, even if the lipring was there, turning down into a deeper frown.

Her brow knits.

And Talia was being very thoughtful for others. Ellie just left dirty dishes in the sink, don't tell anyone.

Talia Wagner has posed:
Talia tries to be thoughtful, because life is hard enough for everyone. Her home universe wasn't as bad as some, until it was for her, but it's always been the little things. As she bustles, it's almost like she's doing a little dance, hips swaying to some unheard tune. It doesn't take her too long to get the contraption set up and preheated, because that's a thing.

She gestures at the waiting basket with a smile. "Now we just drop them in and set a timer and drink coffee." She pauses, frowning slightly. "Cooking is an important skill that anyone can learn. Eating well is important, plus it can be fun. I'm not fantastic, but maybe I could ... make you dinner sometime and give a little lesson?"

Negasonic has posed:
Oh yeah. Talia was from a whole other multiverse or something.

Wasn't life crazy like that? Not that Nega knew that - really, her working thought was that Talia was Kurt's daughter or sister or something, which wasn't *wrong*, but... whatever.

While Talia does her little dancing, Ellie was more the stoic grouchy presence, coffee caught again as the Exile does her thing.

She brings up her coffee mug but pauses, her head tilting to the side as she looks towards Talia with a little more direction in her eyes. "Huh," she says.

She seems to consider it. "... sure," she says.

A pause more.

"You like music at all?" Everyone did, but the question was a little more... what kind of music might you like? If Talia picks up what Ellie was putting down, at least.

Talia Wagner has posed:
With food beginning its journey towards hot and sizzling, Talia can turn her attention back to her quite large mug of coffee that is now at precisely the proper temperature to drink. She scoops it up in three-fingered hands and leans against the counter for proper kitchen conversation vibes.

The acceptance makes her beam, and and ideas of easy things that are still good for you flit through her brain. "I think I have an idea," she says cheerfully.

"I am into music, yes! I'm...polyjamourous."

Negasonic has posed:
The *look* that Negasonic gives Talia at that last thing said might speak volumes. Pursed lips, frowning expression. Her nostrils flare, and she gives her head a shake in abject disapproval.

She was allergic to puns, by the look of it.

She was leaning back too, in that black sweater and red pajama bottoms, and easy sneakers, her attention full on Talia. The disapproval was fleeting, she was already going back to sipping her drink. Probably better to focus on the idea.

"Yeah? What kinda idea is that?" she adds onto that. "I like pretty much anything that speaks to me. Artsy and different stuff, even if it's a little pop, you know?"

Talia Wagner has posed:
Music is important to the experience of life, be it human or mutant. Music is concentrated feelings injected to the brain. "I refuse to apologize for the joke. Because I think it's funny." Is that a statement, or a threat?" The impish twinkle in her glowing eyes says it's both.

"I am contractually obligated to love Alison's music, I think it was in some papers I signed, but I also like anything that can make me -feel-. I've been listening to a lot of 80's Darkwave and synth stuff lately. I really like Joy Division and New Order lately, though I'm sure I'll latch on to something new in a week."

Negasonic has posed:
"It's probably was a hit during grade school, right?" says Negasonic in response to the first thing said. Mean!

Regardless, her RBF doesn't change at all. "Some of that stuff is good. Darkwave, and synth is a vibe, although I don't really know many bands there. Sisters of Mercy?" she says, canting her head a bit. "Dazzler is way too poppy," says Negasonic.

And what was on her playlist sometimes? Dazzler. But you can't tell anyone. "A little bit of grindcore if I'm feeling a bad mood, but... uh... Otep? Starbenders - a little bit of a punk vibe there. Poppy..." she says. "Although the real hard metal stuff I typically don't go for so much," she admits.

"You'd probably like Starbenders if you like an 80's sound, you know?" she says.

Sip of the coffee, as she looks to the air fryer.

Talia Wagner has posed:
TJ sips her coffee, just enjoying the moment of human connection. Not to mention the coffee and the growing smell of breakfast sandwich. She peers over at the fryer, eyeballing the timer. It's close, so she moseys over to peek, pulling the tray out and considering. "Close enough, I think." She lets the basket sit as she turns the machine off, reaching in to pull the parchment out, setting it on the counter to let the absolutely molten sandwiches cool a bit.

"Sisters of Mercy are a vibe," she says, blatantly ignoring the comment about Dazzler. "As is Cradle of Filth. Nine Inch Nails is growing on me, but, um, his music has two speeds, depressed or depressed and horny."

She closes the fryer after giving it a wipe out with a paper towel, leaving it sit to cool before it can really be put away. "I'll check out Starbenders, it sounds up my alley!"

Negasonic has posed:
The draw of food was having Ellie kinda meander towards that way as TJ does, "Smells good, at least," she says to her, although she doesn't crowd her work, giving her enough space to be the master chef of the moment.

"I never was a fan of either of those bands. I like the ones with a little bit of... hope underscoring the whole thing, I guess," she says. "Unless I'm in a mood," she says. Coffee was nearly done. She tilts her head back to drain it.

"We all get in moods, sometimes," she admits.

"The Game, go for the Game," she says. "Although that's not my favorite. Blood, or Holy Mother, yeah," she says, a rare note of excitement in her voice at that. A glance towards the clock.

"Probably should shower sometime before noon."

Talia Wagner has posed:
"It does, so consider this your first cooking lesson," TJ says with characteristic cheer. "The air fryer is a way to cheat. If you can microwave it, you can probably cook it in the air fryer and it will be ten times better. It just takes a little longer," she says, snatching up one of the hot sandwiches and hopping up to sit on the counter, feet swinging.

"I'll look them up," she says, nodding, though she is clearly paying attention to the unsaid and undertones as she starts to eat. "I'll keep an ear out for stuff you might like," she says with a smile. Though that smile falters a little as Ellie mentions showering, and she does math about the time change. "Oh man, there's not going to be enough hot water left, is there?"

Negasonic has posed:
"Sometimes, time is money," says Ellie to TJ.

Like she had tons of things to do with her life.

She chooses the other sandwich, and - using the sink to fill up her coffee mug with some water, starts to sip at it, her attention nonetheless going to the agile mutant.

"I'm pretty sure this place has an underground reservoir of hot water, but even if it does run out..." she shrugs her shoulders.

"Are you afraid of the cold?" she asks, taking a sip of her water before she takes another bite of sandwich, looking to her.

Talia Wagner has posed:
TJ eats like her father. Quickly and with great gusto, though she manages to retain some semblance of manners. It's at least not grotesque, just a little fast. In a blink or two, it seems her sandwich is gone and she's guzzling down the rest of her coffee.

"Afraid of it? No, but I like to luxuriate in a nice hot shower. It helps me clear my head and relax to be ready for whatever craziness the day might bring me. Cold showers are ... not that. Not luxurious at all."

Negasonic has posed:
Ellie kinda had a thoughtful approach to her munching. A little bite here, say a few words, take a few sips, and go on.

But she watches the devouring with interest. "Damn. You must've been hungry," she says.

"And yeah, I get that. It's about the mood of the moment, I think. Most of the time, something cold really gets you up in the morning. Or after training, helps you cool down a bit. But at the end of the day, a warm shower - or even a bath, is great."

She pauses a moment more. "Might be a warm shower day, though," she says.

Another buzz of her phone draws her attention away from TJ, and she picks it up, looking down to it and starting her scrolling vibes.

Talia Wagner has posed:
Talia likes creature comforts. Tasty food, comfy bedding, hot showers. It's about as basic as one can be, but there are worse things. "I think I eat like that because of my dad. ... Back home. It was always so busy and you never knew when you'd have to drop everything, so I just picked up on it." She shrugs, not embarrassed about it at all. She's clearly unashamed.

While there is absolutely a call for a cold shower now and again. It is not this day. She goes to further elucidate, but Ellie picks up her phone and falls right into it. It was bound to happen. She bustles to rinse her coffee cup out, leaving it in the sink before she turns back. "On that note, I think it is shower time," she says. "Thanks for hanging out and having breakfast with me, Nega," she says brightly. "I think I will go and fight for my hot shower. I'll find you for your cooking lesson!"

With that, she heads out, tail held high, humming something to herself as she seeks the elusive hot water.
