- Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson looks into the camera he'd set up. Staring into the camera was a no-no for actors, required for journalists and he was a journalist. Admittedly he'd specialized in kitschy man and Mutant on the street interviews and putting people in silly situations. But those who had watched him would remember when he attempted to interview Tarot and lost his first streaming service.
"Hello folks, this is Billy Batson. I have something a little different today. I'm in my studio apartment." No lie, a corner of his apartment WAS his studio,
"My special guest tonight is Police Officer Sam Guthrie. Let me start by welcoming him and saying thank you for your service, Sam. Sam, how long have you been on the job and why did you choose this career?"
- Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie will be sitting where he was told to. He is wearing a purple button up shirt, and dressed pants. "Well, Ah have been on the force for getting close to two years now." He tells him "Ah was looking at a way to help folks, and decided to go to the academy. Ah saw an opening with NYPD's Special units and Ah applied and was accepted."
- Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson nods. "That is a noble sentiment. Congratulations. What do you like about your job in the Special Unit. Are there any misconceptions you'd like to address? I ask because my dad is a policeman and he has stories."
Victor indeed had stories and told them, often when you were watching a movie. He also loved to point out errors in police shows and the Philly's games. Billy listened. Boy did he listen. He also had his own experiences from those dark days.
- Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie smiles a bit and says "Well special unites is NYPD's answer to crimes that are beyond the normal. Be it super powers, magical, high tech or what not. We try to make sure that the folks of New York stay safe. Many of us work around the city when not on the call for a special call. Ah personally have walked the beat over most of Manhattan and Queens, but my main beat when Ah am walking one is Bushwick."
- Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson smiles and says, "I know, the people in Bushwick had some lovely things to say about you." He pauses the recording. "I got a few testimonials about you, sound bites. I'd like to insert them here before continuing. I'll let you review them first. Ok, rolling again." He switches the recorder back on.
"So, Officer Guthrie, what is is you came here to say tonight?"
- Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie says, "Well, Ah have been thinking about something for a while. As Ah said Ah work often in Bushwick, which is known by many as Mutant Town. Ah have felt drawn there to help folks, and Ah believe it is time Ah told folks why it is so. Ah Sam Guthrie am a mutant, Ah have the ability to fly at rather fast speeds, and am neigh invulnerable when I am blasting. err flying." He rubs a hand through his hair and says "Ah always called it blasting, as in blasting off.""
- Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson says, "It must be hard to live a double life. Your power sounds awesome. Sam, as I understand it the NYPD has a sort of don't ask, don't tell unspoken rule. Why are you coming out NOW as a Mutant? Are you worried about reprisals? What happened to make this decision?"
- Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie says, "Well, yea, pretty much, Ah am lucky in a way some are not. You can't look at me and tell, Ah am a mutant. So yea, Ah could have kept it to myself, but Ah want people to see that mutants are just normal folks to. Yes there are bad folks and good folks, like in most cases the bad folk get more publicity. Ah want folks to see there are some of us out trying to do good, and am also hoping with me letting folks know Ah am a mutant it brings opportunities to people, letting them know that if you try and set your mind to it."
- Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson says, "Well, this is true. I came up from the streets and I never thought I'd be an influencer, let alone a reporter. I liked doing human interest stories from Mutant town, made a few friends there. I like showing Mutants in a positive light, especially since there are so many wrong minded people out there. thank you for trusting me with this story Sam. Do you have any closing words?"
- Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie says, "Folks used to have a problem with folks cause their skin was different, who they worshiped, or who they loved being different. Yes in some ways we are different, but we are still folks, and Ah hope folks will realize that and give us a chance. Don't judge all of us by someone who breaks into vaults, or even those who fight to stop those people breaking into banks. Judge us by getting to know us and seeing what kind of folk we really are."
- Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson says, "Thank you Sam. I wish you the best of luck on your job and in life. This is Billy Batson wishing you all a good day." He shuts the recorder. "That was a great interview, Sam. I was letting my folks watch it live out of personal interest. My foster dad is a policem..." There's a strong knock on the door. Billy jumps a little. "Oh gods, he promised..."
- Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie 's brow raises a bit as he looks over to Billy but he does not seem upset "So, ya think thats him?" He looks to the other young man, and says "Or someone else, wanting to come by and be on your cast?" He asks him. Sam waits to see what is said.
- Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson facepalms and nods.
He gets up to answer the door. Sam can't see with the door in the way but Billy steps back. His father steps into the apartment in full dress uniform. He regards Sam for a moment then standing tall he gives him a perfect salute.
"I decided to do this in full dress. I wanted to salute you and a Hawaiian shirt didn't fit the bill. Victor Vega, St. Albans. Pleasure to meet you." Victor extends a hand.
- Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie will stand up and salutes back, before shaking the hand "Well, sir it is an honor, and Ah do believe it would be an honor no matter what you decided to wear. As you heard, Ah am Sam Guthrie, and the pleasure is mine. Ah am pretty sure you have been doing the job a lot longer than me, and judging by your kids Ah have met you take jobs you do serious and do them well.
- Billy Batson has posed:
Victor will hand Sam a business card. "We need guys like you on the Job and it's Victor please. We're all in this together. That card has my contact information. If I can ever help you, give me a call."
Billy sighs and says, "You actually look respectable right now, dad."
Victor huffs. "I always look respectable. Stop listening to Rosa. Anyway... thank you for the secret preview Billy. Maybe Officer Guthrie will convince you or one of your siblings to apply to the Academy. I can always hope."
