Date of Scene: 31 May 2020
Location: Breakstone Lake
Synopsis: Ellie is all bummed out about Stryker and how everything is going, she has a chat with Lorna that doesn't ease her mind.
Cast of Characters: Negasonic, Lorna Dane

Negasonic has posed:
Ellie is by her lonesome, not a rare sight about the Mansion, she has headphones on, but she's not shifting as if she's listening to happy music. She's sat on a rock at the bank of Breakstone Lake, staring at the water, as if she was expecting for something magical to come out and fix the world.

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna was supposed to be on continued comm duty, a punishment just as much as it was a means of keeping the Genoshan Queen out of harm's way. Even if the missing members of the school weren't a priority, there was the rise in Purifiers to contend with. Stryker had been speaking out again about mutants, more specifically her, and her actions... but now there was also Senator Kelly to contend with in the election.

To put it bluntly, it was not a good time to be a mutant alone, nor was it safe. But still, this close to the Mansion proper it should... in theory, be safe. At least that's what Lorna told herself as she headed to the lake side. Her gaze catching the form and figure of Ellie and the green haired woman made her way over. She didn't interupt, or make to snatch the headphones away. She simple shoved her hands into her jean's pockets and waited. If Ellie wanted to say hi, she would.

For all that Lorna was supposed to be reigning monarch, she certainly didn't look the part. She wore a pair of heavily ripped jeans, her black T-shirt studded through with more melt than was strictly necessary, and her make up was a dark smear over her eyes and lips.

Negasonic has posed:
Ellie was focused on her meandering thoughts, lost in whatever it is she was pondering, it is only a good while since Lorna joined her by the lake that she even realizes it. But upon doing so, she does reach to lower her headphones about her neck and offers Lorna a wave of her, "Majesty," she says quietly, sounding quite bitter, her gaze shifting back to the water. "How do we deal with a royal evil asshole like Stryker? I'm pissed, I want to kill him..."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna exhaled a breath and sat down, flashing Ellie a tired smile as she did so. She folded her legs beneath her and glanced out at the lake. She concentrated for a moment, and a wet rock smattered in orange came flying to her grip. She tossed into the air once, twice, and a third time before she chucked it back into the water.

"You know, my father lived through the Holocaust, right? He was Jewish and it was before his powers manifested." She murmured softly. "Many people think in history that the Nazis just came to power one day and started to drag people away. But it wasn't like that.. it was slow. And hatred against Jews was long standing there before even a whisper of Hitler existed." She sighed softly, and pushed her hair back from her face. Green eyes flickered back to Ellie.

"I'm not saying that your feelings aren't valid.. they are. Your anger is born out of that want for justice and fairness that everyone wants. But we need to be aware that it doesn't stem from one man alone, but from many. And killing him won't stop it."

Negasonic has posed:
"I heard about it..." Ellie murmurs quietly, Magneto still being a sore subject for her after his death. He was probably the only real life heroic figure she ever personally knew. Sure there were Avengers, but they didn't save her from being a mindless cog in the human slavery machine in Genosha.

"Really?" Ellie turns to look at Lorna, finding it hard to believe, "you heard what that doucheface said, right? He called you a monster, said your hair was snakes...and that we all should die. I think other assholes believe him...and I want to shut him up forever," Ellie growls, like a little tiny jaguar, "it pisses me off to know he's even alive and having a good time right now."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna sighed and nodded, "Unfortunately... I do think that. He's just the one speaking the loudest right now. And I hate the man too.. don't get me wrong. And I do not, and will not apologize for my actions in defending Genosha against the Magistrates when they demanded I give them Carrion Cove." She pursed her lips together and she reached up to press her fingers against her eyelids to rub them.

"But I also understand that my actions will cause a spike in hate against mutants elsewhere. To pretend otherwise is shortsighted. And I'm sorry for that. I'm sorry that because I defended those in Genosha that others will suffer for it." She let her hands fall away and she looked to Ellie.

"But killing Stryker won't stop his hatred. It's already here. It's all over the world." She let her hands fall back to her lap. "And if he dies now...? By a mutant's hands? He will become a martyr to those people that hate us and they will use it as an excuse to more horrible things."

Negasonic has posed:
"So the entire thing is rigged? This is fucked up. If we do something, they hate us, if we don't, they kill us? Fuck that!" Ellie snaps, and picks up a rock, tossing it towards the water, she gets a two skips, but doesn't really cares. "...and that evil douchelord is talking like he's the second coming of Christ or something to top it all off."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna nodded, "Unfortunately, yes.. the system is rigged here. Very much so. It supports those in power and those with wealth and everyone that doesn't fit into their tiny mold of what is 'acceptable' is crushed beneath their feet. It's the same story all over the world." She sighed softly, and followed the rock that Ellie tossed into the water.

"Which is why Genosha has to exist. So that mutants can have their home and learn.. and grow without that. The Professor's dream is just that... a dream. The world isn't ready for mutants and humans to co-exist, and it might never be." She pursed her lips, pushing her hair back as the wind ruffled it about.

"I'm not saying that we should give up or stop fighting either.. but we do have to be careful in how we do it. And weigh the lives of others that might not be able to defend themselves against it."

Negasonic has posed:
"Well, I think it's BS," Ellie groans, shifting to bring her knees to her chest, embracing them against her with her arms, as she leans her chin on her knees. "That sucks ass."

"Can it though? I haven't been there since...-that- day, is anything even left standing?" She turns to look at Lorna quizzically, she honestly thought it was gone forever. "So no killing Evil McNasty yet?"

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna nodded, shifting as she reached out with a hand and summoned another iron ladened stone to her grip to chuck out onto the lake. She might have given it a little push in terms of flight, and it skidded across the surface of the water for a time before plunking down into the depths. "It is.. and it does suck. But we're fighting a system, not just one person, and we can't forget that." She murmured softly.

In regards to Genosha though, she winced and shook her head. "No. Nothing was left standing. But we're rebuilding Hammer Bay slowly right now. We have several pre-fabricated buildings up, we've cleared a runway, the beach.. and built a dock. We're working on getting farmland up and running right now. We've managed to get most ultitiles up and running.." She exhaled a breath.

"We still have a lot of work to do. There's only a few hundred Genoshans there.. but we've had a lot of foreign mutants come to help with rebuilding efforts."

Negasonic has posed:
"So how do we do that...? What can I do...? It sucks feeling helpless, I had enough of feeling helpless," Ellie sighs and takes a bigger rock, throwing it hard to make a bit of a splash in the water.

"Well, that's good to know, I hope it's back to what it was, eventually," Ellie says with a faint hopeful smile to Lorna, but still seems mostly bitter and angry. "Nice at least that other mutants are helping."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna exhaled a breath, her eyebrows pinching as she gazed back at Ellie. "How do you fight back against the system that is against you? Well.. that's the debate my father and the Professor were in for a long time. My father fought against that system for years, and he was labeled a terrorist for his actions. Pietro and Wanda were with him then." She paused and considered.

"But they left him eventually, and joined the Avengers.. and my father gave up that form of the fight. He turned his attention to Genosha and ruling from there. He always spoke that he wanted the world to be like Genosha was.. but.." She shrugged once, glancing back to Ellie.

"Now I'll just settle for mutants having a homeland." She murmured softly, "The Professor thinks that we need to be the better person, both ethically and morally. We need to defend those that hate us and in the process, slowly change their opinions of us through our actions. To create a world where both humans and mutants can coexist." She pursed her lips together and glanced at Ellie.

"Neither one will bring about change quickly nor easily."

Negasonic has posed:
Ellie stands up and places the headphones back over her ears, "sounds like nothing will ever work, this is so stupid, I'm going to go lay down a bit...thanks for the chat, your Highness," Ellie sighs and walks back towards the Mansion, dejectedly.

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna sighed, wrapping her arms around her knees and grimacing. "Don't I know it Ellie.." She grumbled, closing her eyes and keeping her magnetic senses spread out around her, keeping an eye on Ellie to make sure she made it safely back inside.
