Lorna is a public figure, inexorably linked to the royal line of Genosha and with her father Magneto. She is also a member of the X-men, typically a reserve member, and tries to keep her ties there on the down-low. People know that she's a mutant, and she typically doesn't try to hide it.

Protective:
From a young age Lorna had only herself to well and truly rely on. She had no siblings and was always distanced from others because of her hair color and later, her mutation. The truth of her mother and step-father's deaths, caused at her own hands haunt her.

As a result when she finds someone she cares about, someone that she can rely on, and someone that she can trust, she is often protective to a fault. Hyper aware of her powers and the responsibility that comes with wielding them, Lorna is not someone to stop trying to protect those she cares for.

Temperamental:
Lorna is a woman of extremes. Extreme highs and lows, just as the magnetic fields move, so do her moods. There are days, sometimes weeks at a time when she will obsess over details and plan and create anything and everything that comes to mind in sleepless fits of energy. This is often followed by low days when she can't bring herself to do more than meditate or lose herself away in reading various books.

Even worse, her depressive moods in which she sinks into long, withdrawn, states and can't accomplish most things. Her moods are mercurial, and she has the temper that comes with it. She is quick to temper, and even quicker to forgive, but her trust is hard to earn and is easier to lose.

Tenacious:
Lorna is not the sort to give up on doing what she thinks is right. This is a woman that, even if her first, second, or third attempt at trying to accomplish something fails; she will get back up again and keep trying. Perhaps the very definition of insanity, but she is dogged in her pursuits. Some might call it obsessive in her more manic moods, but Lorna will pursue what she thinks is the right course until the end. Or until proven that what she believed to be right was in fact, wrong.

Perhaps this nature was born out of her training with the X-men, where she spent years trying to master her powers. Perhaps this was born out of her ideas of loyalty. Her father's seeming abandonment when she was a child, and his return into her later in life, has left a mark upon her. Either way, she won't give up on any person, or idea easily once it comes into her mind or has earned her loyalty.

Electromagnetic Sense:
Lorna can sense the ambient magnetic/electromagnetic energy in the world around her. She can more or less 'see' the world through this sense. To truly understand the world around her this way it takes some conscious effort on her part. Otherwise, it is simply like background noise to her that is usually ignored. Through this she is able to sense all ferrous materials within her range, as well as sources of electromagnetism, and magnetism.

Em Spectrum Manipulation:
Lorna knows how to draw on electromagnetism to temporarily boost her own powers, so long as she has a source to draw on. She still does not know the upper limits of this power, though it allows her to absorb and redirect energy. She can also use this to short-circuit electrical circuits and systems.

Geomagnetic Link:
Lorna's powers are sensitive enough to pick up on the Earth's EM field far above and the Earth's core far below. She is able to sense its presence and is aware of what happens to it, at least on a subconscious level. This ties inherently ties into her powers, and should her connection be severed, her powers would be negatively impacted.

Magnetic Flight:
Lorna is capable of flying by manipulating the Earth's magnetic fields, as well as being able push or pull off metallic structures within her range to boost the speed of her flight.

Magnetic Force Fields:
Lorna can create her own personal magnetic fields to surround objects or people (including herself), to protect them from physical harm and nearly all energy attacks. These are particularly powerful against electrical or radiation based threats.

Magnokinesis:
Lorna has the ability to manipulate magnetism and the energy spectrums tied to geomagnetic forces. She can also manipulate objects that contain ferrous materials, though she is not yet on par with Magneto. Her control is refined to the point that she can mend, reconstruct, liquify, and have an effect on all objects that contain trace amounts of ferrous materials.

Basic Combat:
Through years of working and training with both the X-men and Magneto, Lorna knows the basics of combat and how to physically defend herself.

Basic Etiquette:
As Genosha's heir and Princess for a few years, Lorna learned in a crash course method, how to not insult various dignitaries, representatives, and ambassadors in the international realm of politics. She also knows what fork to use and to not chew with her mouth open.

Lorna is Queen in Exile of Genosha, while Magneto is believed dead. Even with the island destroyed, there's something to be said for being royalty.

X-Men:
Lorna has been a member of the X-men since her late teen years. She always has a home there, and she knows they will support her if she needs help. She's not a mutant alone in the world, and that's something.

Devil's Daughter:
For better or for worse, Polaris is Magneto's daughter and the world knows it. Which means she has a target on her back, either from those that love Magneto and are his allies, seeking to be around her presence or curry favor.. Or that they despise her father, like most of the world. There are plenty of people out there that would seek to use her against her father for one reason or another. Moreover, it means that her father's shadow looms large over her interactions with would be friends or allies. After all, how much like her father is she? With Genosha destroyed, the world watches on.

Glass Cannon:
Lorna can't take much physical damage compared to the awesome levels of magnetic power she has. In terms of physical toughness, she's equivalent to a baseline human. Moreover, if she suffers physical damage to her nervous system, brain, or spine; her powers would be directly impacted.

Mental Illness:
It seems that Lorna has inherited some of her father's temper and instability. The more that Lorna interacts with the wider, more violent world around her, the more its impact has had on her mental stability. While she is unaware of it, the prolonged use of over-stretching her magnetism only exasperates this instability. Leading to an increase chance of depression, and questionable mental sanity. With Genosha's destruction, her mental stability is more fragile than ever before.

Mental Weakness:
Due to the mental manipulations she's suffered in the past, including but not limited to her father having the memory of her mother and step-father's deaths being hidden from her.. she's particularly weak to mental attacks and intrusions as a result.

Public Figure:
Lorna is a known public figure. A known mutant, and people know her powers. There's risk in being so well known, it's dangerous to have your enemies be able to recognize you and who you're connected with at a glance. There's a reason people have secret identities.. and Lorna no longer has one.

HUNGER: The New Colossus, Part II	April 21st, 2024	An international military force descends upon the Atlantic Starport, deploying international super-teams and yet-unseen weaponry and equipment in evidence of rapid development and research. Diplomacy is attempted by one side, ignored by the other. Things blow up. Lorna Dane rages in defiance, and is saved by Pietro as his sister's lost treasure is turned against them. Against overwhelming numbers, Diana orders evacuation, but the enemy seems intent upon stopping the alien refugees. Arisia helps ferry them to the moon, at personal cost. Natasha sees to the safety of SHIELD personnel caught in the middle of an organizational struggle. Doom and Clea stand against a stolen arcane horror, that casts doubt to the sanity of their opponents. And J'onn J'ozz searches the minds of the attackers, sees the odd rift between these specialized forces and the US military proper, and encourages that disharmony. In the end, the refugees are saved, but a grim titan is left standing sentinel over the Atlantic Starport.
