Cast of Characters: Alison Blaire, Zatanna Zatara

Alison Blaire has posed:
After the coffee run and the excitement of that meeting, Alison had to go. Work called. Never a dull moment, always got to remain busy. Things are what they are...and a lot of other excuses that should be tacked on, as well as apologies and the like.

Work for her is spending the next several hours in the studio working on the newest project that she's got. Not including the Genosha project, which just adds to the work load at the moment.

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Alison had given Zatanna a rough idea of what time she would be done with her practice. But honestly, Zatanna's curious. And well, watching Alison is fun. So she arrived about twenty minutes before the end of practice. She's dressed more in line with something she'd be normally seen in. Also known as going out clothes - a white underbust corset over a black lace bralette, a half-coat made of leather, fishnet gloves and leather pants with kitten heels.

She enters into the sound booth as Alison practices, the young woman moving to take a seat as she takes a quick look to make sure she looks all put together.

Alison Blaire has posed:
The last twenty minutes is probably not nearly as entertaining as people on the outside might think that it is. It's a lot of repeating the same things over and over, just at different pitches, speeds. Over and over until everyone agrees that what they've got laid down is just perfect.

When she finishes there is a quiet conversation with the sound editor before she turns to head for the door, pausing when she spots Zatanna, "Hey! I wasn't expecting you here."

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"Hey!" Zatanna greets with a laugh, and then when she gets called out that she wasn't expected, the magician gets a light blush to her cheeks as she folds her hands in front of her. "I know. I really enjoyed the coffee this morning with you and we didn't get much time to talk." So she decided to be bold.

"So I thought you might want to go to dinner with me? Get to know each other better?" she asks curiously.

Alison Blaire has posed:
"Dinner?" Alison shrugs her shoulders at the question as she grabs a bottle of water from a table near the door, twisting the cap off it. "I guess that I could..." She lifts the bottle up to take a quick sip from it, then she twists the top back on the bottle.

"Now?" She wonders, glancing at what Zatanna is wearing, "Or did you need to go home to change first?"

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"Do I?" Zattana looks over herself, self-conscious. Then she laughs. "Too much?" she asks, and considers. Glancing around, she draws in a breath and then quietly. "I asked you if you believed in Magic, right?" she asks her, "I mean Magic." Big M implied. She decides that they're alone. And that she can trust her. So, she puts her hands together and speaks.

"Lausac erom gnihtemos otni sehtolc ym egnahc."

And before Alison's eyes, the corset and pants transform into a more conservative white knit sweater, black slacks, and a pair of fingerless gloves. Looking herself over, she returns her gaze back to Alison. "There. Is that better?" she asks curiously.

Alison Blaire has posed:
The sound guy is gone, and there wasn't anyone else in the room, so unless they've been invaded by tiny people or invisible ones, it's a pretty solid bet that they are alone.

But big M magic? Well, Alison smiles just a bit in bemusement when that is brought up again, "You did..." Which she did, and she answered! But there is a difference between answering, and then really seeing more than could be explained by quick hands. The transformation of the outfit is met with a curious look, and then she tilts her head, "How did you do that?"

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"I'm not a mutant, if that's what you're asking." Zatanna knows there's people that would freak at that. "I personally am all pro-mutant... but as I said. Magic. It's a simple transmutation spell, turning clothing from one form to another." she laughs. "The first time I tried it, I ended up naked, so be glad I've gotten better at it!" She's amused and reaches her hands to Alison's, stopping somewhere between.

"My father was a magician. My mother was a magical being. So it's sort of in my blood?" she asks. "Dad was... is a great musician, and I want to follow his footsteps, but the things I do? Penn and Teller would be perplexed."

Alison Blaire has posed:
Not a mutant. That is tucked away with a nod, but Alison doesn't seem to be about to judge anyone over their lack of a mutant gene, or not. Not really her style, probably. "I was really just wondering how you did it...but not a mutant." She smiles faintly, twisting the cap on her bottle for a moment in thought, "Like a witch?"

This shows where she's learned all her magical and occult knowledge in just one question. Hollywood.

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"I suppose you could call me a witch, if you want to break my heart." Zatanna offers coyly, "More like a mage." comes the counter-offer. "I can do spells and potions with some advanced notice, but most of what I do it pratical. Like... for instance." She reaches over and picks up a styrofoam cup half-filled with bad coffee and spent cigarettes. For a moment, she's reminded of someone else, and shakes her head. "Hold this." She offers the cup to Alison.

If she takes it, Zatanna will look up to Alison and meet her eyes, before she speaks. "Esor der hserf a otni esufer dna puc ssorg siht nrut."

The styrofoam cup in her hands is immediately changed, taking on a freshly cut and fragrant red rose. "Go ahead, smell it." she says with a smile. "It's fresh, I promise."

Alison Blaire has posed:
Witch....mage....It is painfully clear that Alison doesn't actually know the difference between the terminology, but she at least looks apologetic about having inadvertantly gotten it wrong. "Sorry."

Although, that apology doesn't linger as she's being handed a rather disgusting cup, and her nose wrinkles up before she takes it. The transformation startles her, and she very nearly drops the rose before bringing it to her nose like instructed, "Are you sure?"

Why yes, yes she does fully expect to smell a coffee scented ashtray instead of a rose.

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
No coffee. Just rose. Zatanna smiles and shakes her head. "Don't blame you for not knowing the difference. Hollywood gets all wrong though." she comments idly.

"Burning us at the stake only ruins our hair, and we don't float."

That is said with a teasing lit. "So I admit I came not just to listen to you and talk about the concert, but because..." she trails off, and chickens out at the last second. "Nevermind."

Alison Blaire has posed:
The fact that it doesn't smell terrible is a little more amazing then the fact it doesn't look the same. Alison takes another sniff from it before she moves to tuck the rose into a half finished bottle of water, and sets it on the small piano in the corner of the room. Then she moves to grab her things, a jacket and her phone before heading for the door, "What?"

There's a curious look, but then she pushes the door open so that Zatanna can go through the door first, "You are wanting to talk about the concert too, though, aren't you?"

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"I do!" Zatanna is quick to reply, "I just..." she laughs. "I'm a big fan, and when I found out you were on board, I was really excited." comes the admission as she moves to slip through the door, tucking her hands in her pockets. "And before you think I'm gonna ask for something like an autograph or a backstage pass, I tend to aim higher than that."

And she'll leave it at that for moment.

Alison Blaire has posed:
"Higher?" Alison wonders as she steps out the door as well, shutting it behind her before she turns off a few lights. Then she heads towards the exit of the building, looking somewhat bemused by Zatanna's entire speech.

Once they reach outside she tilts her head at her, expression looking curious, "So?"

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
As they head outside, Zatanna settles her jacket around her shoulders. "For the concert, I wanted to see how long of a set you wanted. And what all you might want for it. I want to make sure you feel comfortable and all." she admits, hands in her pockets as she shrugs her shoulders. "If you mean by higher..." the young mage takes a hand out of her pocket and brushes it through her hair. "When it comes to relationships and dating, I'm attracted to personalities. And yours is really amazing. I mean, yes, you're hot, but your attitude and personality just makes it so much more awesome."

"I was just curious if you were seeing anyone at the moment. And if not, if maybe you'd consider going on a date with me? Or spending time together, or whatever?"

Alison Blaire has posed:
The smile that passes over Alison's face is a strange one. Amused, certainly. Flattered. But also apologetic. "I'm not seeing anyone, no. And while I am really, really flattered. But I do not really..." Really what? Alison takes a moment to consider the exact phrase. "I'm not really looking to date anyone at the moment. I've got to focus on work."

Speaking of, she doesn't quite launch herself into the work aspects of the conversation. Not yet. Instead she takes the time to wait and make sure that Zatanna isn't going to get really upset and turn her into a frog.

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Zatanna laughs and shakes her head. "Hey, not the first time I've been told work first. It's the same excuse I use sometimes." Shrugging her shoulders, she smiles. "I had to try." Hopefully Alison understands and doesn't back out of the concert, really, by being forward with her. But at least she's not speaking backwards and using the word 'Grof'? So that's got to be a positive.

"So." she acts as if she didn't just get rejected. That stage presence at work. "How many songs would you be interested in performing?" she asks, smoothly guiding the subject back in like with what Alison is comfortable with.

Alison Blaire has posed:
"I could do one or two. I know that there are probably plenty of other acts that will be taking the stage for the cause as well, so I wouldn't want to overshadow any of them." Alison is easily guided back towards the conversational topic that doesn't make anyone uncomfortable. Or potentially turned into frogs.

"I know that one will be a duet, but I could also do one. Perhaps one of my well known songs...unless." Alison taps a finger against her chin, considering this for a moment, "I could also debut a new one."

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Gosh, why does everyone assume Zatanna is going to turn them into frogs.

Slugs are far more satisifying.

"Well, think about it, and when you know, shoot me a message?" she asks. "You're one of the headliners at the moment, after all!" she says with a grin, and the fact that it doesn't quite touch her eyes may be the only sign of sadness at her rejection.

Alison Blaire has posed:
Ew. Slugs.

"I'll have to talk with my manager, decide which song we're going to drop as a single first. That might help make the decision on if I'll do that, and if so...which song." Alison probably doesn't have to go on about these kinds of details. It's unlikely that Zatanna actually //cares//. Right? But she seems to be willing to share a brief glimpse behind the velvet curtain into how she does things.

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"I look forward to seeing what you come up with!" Zatanna sounds opptimistic. And a new song? A bonus, completely. But she's tempering herself. She't already struck out with the colorful mutant, she doesn't want to sound desperate to be part of it all. "You have my number, right?"

Alison Blaire has posed:
"I think that I do." Alison reaches into her back pocket to get her phone pulled out so that she can check to see if she //does// actually have the number. Presumably there was some method of contacting each other prior to all this, afterall.

"I'll let you know, though. Do you know yet how many people will be volunteering for the concert?" Alison wonders, glancing up from the screen before tucking her phone back into her pocket.

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"For sure? One of the Green Lanterns and Iron Man plans to show up. I made sure that Tony knew not to turn this into a political rally." Zatanna responds. "Then there's you and your friend. And me, I plan to give my own performance. I'm going to give it another week and then announce it."

Alison Blaire has posed:
"That is quite the line up." Alison offers after a moment with a nod, then she smiles at Zatanna, her hands tucking into the pockets of her jacket, "So." She takes only a moment to let that word draw out before she finishes the thought, "I'm guessing this is good bye until then?"
