Who is Rave
Date of Scene: 11 July 2020
Location: NYC - Club Drop-Top Back stage
Synopsis: Kara Danvers meets the out and proud hero Rave and interviews her about being the new hero on the block.
Cast of Characters: Kara Danvers, Naria Shepard

Kara Danvers has posed:
The crowd in the club is still amped up after the performance by Rave, which includes Kara Danvers. She was inspired and slipped her way back stage to meet up with the new talent making waves. Now club music was playing and the lights were rising to encourage last drinks and for people to considering heading home. Rave was a head liner now, not just filler hire. A meteoric rise like this is a great scoop for a Journalism student.

Kara knocks on the door, her brunette hair up in a pony tail. She danced the night away in jeans and a t-shirt with a picture of The Hunk on it. He may not be the most popular super hero around these days, especially after yesterdays performance, but she thinks he's fantastic.

Kara offers a high five to Rave, "You killed it out there. Amazing. Thanks for agreeing to this interview." She takes a seat and then takes out... a pad and pen. This is certainly a bit old school.

Naria Shepard has posed:
Rave herself was still dressed for her performance, that skirt, those boots and that fishnet shirt over the black bikini top. Every bit the appearance of her namesake, right down to the faintly luminescent glowing hair and eyes. With her gear packed up and the automatic music filling the air behind her, the bluenette had retired to the 'green room' and was currently indulging in the treat she'd denied herself before going on stage for fear of it affecting her singing where it was needed: a steaming mug of hot chocolate!

When the door opens, she's currently in the midst of still stiring the drink, but the spoon is lazily placed in her mouth for a second to claim the high-five before she deposits it aside with a little laugh. "Thanks! And no worries. Winters passed the request to me, and us college students have to stick together, right?"

There was no hiding her metahuman nature, the fact that she was 'outed' immediately was part of both the girl's draw and controversy, and the sudden 'flash' and streaking neon had her moving from the door to lounging on her seat with drink in hand. Or at least too most, Kara herself? She probably saw the speedster move! Still, Rave smiles, tilting her head. "Did you want a drink or something? Coffee? Water? Soda?"

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara's vaguely foreign sounding accent, something Swedish perhaps, mixed with American, adds to her journalistic charm - or at least, she thinks so. She adjusts her glasses and smiles to Naria. The sudden high speed movement is very notable, but she has been training herself not to stare or track then as Kara Danvers. Super speed eyes is a bit of a give away to a speedster, though it's incredibly frustrating!

"Absolutely we do! Can I call you Naria or would you prefer Rave. Also for the article, which would you prefer?"

She draws a few structural things on the page and looks back to her with attentive blue eyes. "With everything going on in the world, especially with Mutant Town, you've come out to the world in a big way. Could you tell me what that felt like, the sudden fame and notoriety?"

Kara knows a little bit about that, as Supergirl she is constantly in the news and an uncountable number of instagrams, blogs, twitter accounts, web pages are devoted to her. Her fanbase has grown immensely since she took the skies a year ago. Though, as merely Kara Danvers, she is a completely unknown student trying to find her way in the world. She adjusts her glasses again and her knee fidgets a little. "Oh and can I get a photo for the article?," she takes out her phone, fumbles it on to the floor and then picks it back up, checking for any new marks on the surface, "Phew."

Naria Shepard has posed:
"Rave," the blue-haired girl ansers perhaps a little too quickly, but there's a little shrug of her shoulders almost in explaination. "It's more...me than the name I was born with, if that makes sense. I mean, look at me..." A gesture of her hand indicating herself, it seemed the young woman hadn't noticed Kara tracking her. Perhaps she hadn't quite trained herself to look for such a giveaway yet! Another sip, the drink is placed on the coffee table nearby as she ponders the question.

"I guess it was...hard to describe. I'd been making music, doing okay, having fun with it all and developing some amazing fans. But when I...had my 'outing', changed in front of the crowd, it was something else. I think the footage is still out there in a few places, people can be crazy quick on camera phones. It just caught people's eye. But that's what neon is supposed to do, right?"

A grin at her own joke, that sudden fumble towards the floor had Rave already making to move, intending to catch the device before it could be damaged...but it wasn't moving fast enough. A normal human? They'd never even know she started to move as she immediately returned to her chair.

"But now, being able to help people who are different, being seen as a positive light and doing the 'Hero Thing' is probably the best thing that ever happened to me. Being able to make a difference and show people some...I dunno, hope? Joy? Excitement? It's awesome!"

Perhaps it was a strange Paradox for Kara to be faced with; she focused hard on hiding her identity, Rave had never had the chance and simply embraced it as best she could. If her social media, or indeed even her physical presence was to be believed? She -loved- being who she was now.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara takes note.. Rave has a kind heart. Well, she almost saved the phone. The phone is fine of course. "Rave it is! I can understand that. I have heard it's common when the change happens to adopt a new name that is chosen and has more meaning to you." She nods with a bob of her hair. She writes down the response. "You mention being a hero now, which is a big career direction change. Who in the hero scene inspires you the most and why?"

She has to admit, her cousin was right - interviews are the best part. This is a lot of fun. She's going to make a habit of doing her assignments as interviews from now on and may be one day they'll make it on to a proper paper. She's just an intern right now, but she has aspirations.

"Could you tell me about the attack at your other show? I know that's a bit of an emotional deep dive, but hearing it direct from you is the best way for people to understand a world foreign to them." And in some ways, help Kara understand humanity better.

Of course, she can't help but like Rave a little more when she says she wants to show people hope. Kara's favourite gif from the battle against Brainiac was of her throwing one Brainiac drone in to another followed by the text, 'S is for hope. S-ure hope Brainiac has insurance for those drones.'

Naria Shepard has posed:
A little exhaled breath, a puff out of her cheeks of consideration as she's quizzed on inspirations. A folding of her arms under her bust, the neon speedster considers for a moment. "I mean, it's more than one to be sure. Anyone doing good is an inspiration, and people who make it look easy are awesome. But y'know, people like Superman, or Supergirl, or Wonder Woman. They're the ones you grow up with, the ones you're always excitedly keeping an eye out. People who got all that power and decided to do good things with it! I want people to be as excited and inspired when I turn up on the scene one day!"

The second question however, it had Rave frowning...but only for the smallest of seconds, a crack in that high-energy joy that most wouldn't even catch. "There was a statement released and the police are still investigating, so I can't really talk about some parts of it, I'm sure you'd understand. Right Kara?"

A beat, the bluenette's crossed arms become a little more of a 'self-hug', even if it was minute difference easily missed. "It was a show with a mainly mutant crowd, and we were attacked by people armed to the teeth and intent on harming or abducting mutants. My fans, people who'd come there to see me..."

She trails off, biting her bottom lip. Of course, she didn't really like reflecting on the fact she'd been unable to stop the attackers, that she'd been hurt and very nearly abducted herself...or what she'd found when she tracked the kidnappers down.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara nods her head and says, "I'm so sorry. It's horrible isn't it, bigotry and hatred. I understand." She glances down for a moment. She wonders how people can stand the way life is in this world sometimes. "The more people who stand up for what's right, the less this kind of thing will happen - in the future, we make for a better world."

She tempers herself, best not to edge in to speech territory, though Rave seems so sad now. "You are very fast. There are many speedster heroes such as The Flash and Impulse. Do you know if your powers at the same as theirs, or is your speed different, perhaps magical in nature? Who do you think you could beat in a race. The Flash? Supergirl? Wonder Woman?"

Gosh, she needs to be more careful with how she asks questions, she doesn't want to upset these interesting people who have let them in to their live briefly, letting her see a slice to share with the world. "Speaking of being the hero who might be the inspiration for others one day, are you part of any super hero types, or being perhaps considered, recruited by any of them?"

Naria Shepard has posed:
"It's different," Rave shrugs, gesturing to herself again as her fingertips alight with a bright glow for a moment. "At least, I think it is. I've never seen any of them shoot lasers or anything," she shrugs again, lifting her arms over her head to stretch and arching her back just a little. "I've got no idea exactly where it came from, but my guess was that it was one of those 'always there and waiting to come out' things. Of course, my hair wasn't always glowy and blue. So I guess it was kinda dormant?"

The second question? It makes her laugh softly and grin. "I dunno about the Flash, but I'd love to try any of them!" She shifts to the last question, shaking her head with a little laugh. "Not to my knowledge. I don't even have a costume or anything like that. No idea where people get all these 'Super Suits'. I'm still fighting in activewear or...well, stuff like this."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara grins at the mention of activewear. "Well you're just getting started. There's a whole internet forum of famous heroes now who once wore hoodies." Yes, she's looked them up. When she met Spiderman, it was something she was super curious about.

"What would you like the world to know about you, what do you think people should know - what words would you like them to hear to make their lives better?" Yep, she's going for the tough questions, but Rave wants to be an inspiration, it's time to give her a platform. It's not much of a platform yet, but Rave is certainly one to watch out for in the future. She has put such a target on her back too, may be she'd better keep a closer eye on her just in case she runs in to trouble. "Give me your best hero.. no.. superhero inspirational speech."

Naria Shepard has posed:
"Oh wow, putting me on the spot here..." she jests, grinning a little at the brunette before her. "Guessing you're quite the student, huh?" Rave's back to biting her lip, but it's an expression of consideration rather than sadness, after all she wasn't expecting much more than a few questions about her personal life and her music but Kara had came to play harder than that. Exhaling a breath, the glowing girl considers for a moment.

"Life has its ups and downs, good and bad. Sometimes we can't help the bad, sometimes we can't find the good easily, but there are plenty of moments we get to make a difference. Some of us are lucky enough to have the ability to make a difference for other people too. People deserve joy, safety, fun...and I think it's important that when we can give those to people? Do some good? It's what we have to do."

A grin, there's an added afterthought. "Besides, if I didn't get a thrill out of people having a great time? Bringing joy to people? I wouldn't have been making music!"

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara smiles with delight as she writes down the words Rave has chosen. She hmms and nods her head, "On that note, where can people see you performing next?" Why not try and drum up a bit more attendance for Rave. Now that other people will know more about her, they might also be curious about her music. "And do you have a twitter and instagram where people can hear about your heroics or other public appearances?"

Kara is impressed with this young woman. She does wonder what life would be like if she didn't have a secret identity - well for one, the DEO would not be okay with that, but also her regular friends would be in danger. Kal's approach still makes sense. She hopes Rave can make this public thing work. Mutants are a target, especially the visible ones. She stands and offers her hand, "It has been an utter pleasure and again thank you for letting me interview you. I'll message you when I've put the article up on my blog." The truth is, Rave probably has more followers than Kara Danvers does, but that's besides the point - university students have to stick together, right?

Naria Shepard has posed:
"I have a few shows coming up, if you follow my social media you'll be able to see the full list. Buuuuut...I believe the next one is booked at 'Club Evolution'. I love performing, so I try to get as much in as I can." Question of the social media earns a laugh and a nod, a look of mock-offense on her features. "I'd hope most people who read what you write would follow it. I've got quite a few pictures, selfies with some of the other heroes and stuff. I think the one with Spider-man was the most recent, and the sunrise I caught at the top of Stark Tower? That was -super- pretty looking..."

She trails off, clearly catching herself before her excitable gushing can continue. "But yeah, all of the above. I'm pretty easy to find!"

Interview over, Rave takes the hand and gives it a little squeeze of thanks before releasing it lightly. "It was good fun, even if you caught me off-step a little." A wink, there comes a tilt of her head before she gestures with her thumb to the table. "Drink offer still stands by the way but...no alcohol. That whole 'Under 21' thing."

That and speedsters didn't tend to get much mileage out of alcohol anyway!

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara chuckles and stands up, dropping her pen this time. She bends over and picks it up, tucking it behind her ear and flipping the note pad closed. "Thanks. Did you know in Europe the drinking age is 18, sometimes lower? Wild right?," Kara grins and heads out of the club. She has a short flight home to Metropolis after all.
