Cast of Characters: Lois Lane, Shuri

Lois Lane has posed:
The open air shopping plaza known as the Avenue of Tomorrow in Metropolis does a fine job of being part art exhibit and part shopping extravaganza. Usually, if it's clothes shopping, Lois is dragged about to the higher-end shops in New York City because she almost never shops fully for herself these days, Janet plays dress up. So it's at this point in time that Lois is shopping for something entirely different.

An MP3 player.

But not just any MP3 player. One with actual battery life so that it doesn't run out while she's in the middle of an article or waiting on a stakeout. She may have lost the last one in a lake. So, slowly wandering the blocks of the plaza looking for a decent electronics store, Lois is at least taking her time about it. It's nice to get some air.

Shuri has posed:
Walking into the plaza, Shuri was wearing her more traditional wear and while she had a couple of outfits, she wanted more. She was hoping to find something that was more a mix of her own style and the American style. Fitting in without losing herself completely. She knew she could easily get something at home but...this isn't home. Once inside, she almost stops immediately as she spots an electronics store and she has time.

"Suppose I can have a laugh." She states simply enough even as she looks through the window and shakes her head at the very first thing she spots, the TVs that are on display, "OLED?" She laughs a little, "Wow..." She shakes her head and then she walks to the door.

Lois Lane has posed:
Stepping inside, Lois peers around a bit as she searches for /something/. Technology, at least beyond her computer, is something she hasn't bothered too much with since... well, far too long ago. She needs something of an upgrade. Maybe learn some terminology. So, stepping foot inside she looks for the nearest employee.

"I need something to play music that isn't going to lose battery two seconds after I unplug it." There's a pause. "Maybe if it's waterproof that'd be great."

Shuri has posed:
Overhearing what Lois says, Shuri blinks and tilts her head as she walks up to where Lois is and then asks, "Doesn't your phone do that?" She tilts her head as she looks at Lois and then looks over at the guy who was gonna help Lois and then back to Lois, "You Americans have that, right? Smartphones with built in MP3 players?" She nods her head and then chuckles as she looks toward the nearby phones and back to Lois.

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois takes a glance over at Shuri. "I would use my phone if it weren't for the fact that I need it as an audio recording device and that already drains the battery and if my phone dies while I'm recording... I'm gonna miss out on exposing some really shitty people /and/ I won't have music." She grins. "Hence the battery life question."

She looks down at her phone to check it just in case. "I have specific needs." She does give Shuri a once over for a moment. "Americans, huh?"

Shuri has posed:
"Yes, Americans and if you have trouble with battery life then why don't..." She pauses and then sighs, "I forgot that your phones don't have replaceable batteries." She then shakes her head before she considers something and then looks over at the options for MP3s and then shakes her head again, "None of these are going to be great but I imagine having something like that would be the best you could do." She nods her head and then looks over to Lois and then states, "If you really want to have the best possible battery life." She shakes her head and looks over to Lois and shrugs.

"Oh, and I'm Shuri by the way." She nods her head.

Lois Lane has posed:
"Not surprised that technology's not yet at the level where I'd like it to be," Lois looks amused. "You at least sound like you know what you're talking about, so I appreciate it. I'm Lois, and it's nice to meet you Shuri." She seems to be puzzling through her battery options. "I suppose more devices for different things but that seems clunky..." She gives Shuri a look. "I imagine, then, if you're laughing at Americans that you're from somewhere that /does/ know how to have a replaceable battery."

Shuri has posed:
A shrug and then she nods her head, "You could say something like that." She nods her head as she looks over at the options briefly and chuckles as she looks at them before she then walks over to an accessories wall and then she shakes her head, "This will do I guess." She pulls one down and walks over to Lois, "This is a portable charger." The thing looks to be the size of a lipstick tube, "It should be able to charge the one I pointed out twice before you have to recharge the charger." She nods her head, "You'll get around two days of total battery life."

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois studies Shuri, but she doesn't pry further. "You know, the help is very much appreciated. I don't particularly get to charge my devices right away. Lots of time out doing things." She nods. "Right, I suppose that's at least a better solution than what I was doing before. I do appreciate the help, Shuri. Even though you don't work here. I imagine you outmatch them by a great deal."

Shuri has posed:
A laugh, "If I had the right equipment, I'd build you something that'd be twice as good as both." SHe nods her head and thinks about how she could make something that'd basically never run out of battery life but she can't just go around handing out vibranium equipment. Still, she could work with there crap and still do better. She shrugs as she looks back at the MP3 player and then smiles at Lois, "This will do for now." She nods her head, "Either way, who are you? I gave you my name but you did not give me yours."

Lois Lane has posed:
"Lois Lane. I'm a reporter for the Daily Planet," Lois says with a small grin. "And for as much as I need it, you'd be amazed at how far behind I am in technology. But... it sounds like you're a bit better at it than I am. Thankfully, I just need for it to work, I don't have to do any of the designing or building. I stick to what I'm good at."

Shuri has posed:
"Ah, I have heard of you. You did the story on Tony Stark's bed for the President." She nods her head, "I read that after I saw Lex Luthor talk about how he wished to be President. I can't say I'm entirely impressed with either but then I am not American so it is hardly my problem." She shrugs, "As for me being better at technology? I am the best /at/ technology." She smirks and nods her head with a shrug, "Just a fact." She laughs a little, "It is what I studied the most growing up. Not that I haven't studied other things."

Lois Lane has posed:
"It is nice to see my reputation precedes me." Lois looks at Shuri. "I certainly don't know that I think Tony Stark should be president, but I can tell you that Lex Luther is no good for this country. He is the kind of person who spits on the grave of hero." She nods. "I think, growing up, this is what I wanted to do, so I did it. Going for what you're good at, what you believe in is very worth it."

Shuri has posed:
"I assumed as much based on how he spoke. He sounded like a man who would destroy anyone just to get what he wants. Even if he means to do it for a country, that still sounds wrong to me." She shrugs. Shuri then sighs as her wrist begins to vibreate. She looks at the beaded bracelet and then shakes her head, "Seems my presence is required." She nods her head, "I think they should have to wait on me but then I already ditched them twice today." She laughs a little as she nods her head, "All the same, it was nice to meet you, Lois." She nods her head, "Maybe I'll run into you again." She shrugs and then starts off toward the exit.

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois nods, glancing back at Shuri as she leaves. "I appreciate all the help, I'm certain that I'll be able to get something useful from all of this." She offers a smile. "Don't get into too much trouble with that technology thing, alright? There are some big fish that I'm sure would like to gobble up anyone unsuspecting in that world." She then turns back towards the products, setting about to get what she needed.
