Baby Shanks
Date of Scene: 21 October 2020
Location: Clinic <Mutant Town>
Synopsis: Alanis stops by the Bushwick clinic after a tumble, while Viola stops to help one of her father's men. Robert Marksman does the doctor thing.
Cast of Characters: Viola Fiore, Robert Marksman, Alanis Bezanero

Viola Fiore has posed:
It's a typical Wednesday afternoon at the small Brooklyn clinic. A variety of patients with different ailments can be found in the waiting room. Everything from a mother with a kid who came down with a bad cough, to a man coming back for a follow up after he had stitches last week, to a guy holding a cold steak over his eye as an old fashioned preventative for a black eye.

The door opens and Viola Fiore steps in. She's wearing jeans and a dark grey sweater, boots, and has a purse over one shoulder. Her hand holds her phone which she checks after she's stepped inside the doors, before finally looking away from it to gaze around the waiting room with the unusually sized furniture.

The young Italian-American woman has no visible signs of ailment herself, but seems to be looking for someone. After a moment she spots him and moves over to where a guy with a swollen face and supporting one arm with the other is sitting. She stops in front of him. "Ouch, Baby Shanks, are you going to be ok?" she asks him. He looks up at her and gives a sheepish nod. "Yeah. Thanks for coming. Got jumped," he tells her, his tone a mix of anger and embarrassment at the admission.

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman is working today and a couple people are called back to examine rooms. He finds the nurses are a bit busy and will come out to have a look at the waiting room, doing a basic triage to see if anyone is emergency or if they can wait normal times. He is wearing a white doctors jacket instead of his leather one, but still has on his sunglasses

Alanis Bezanero has posed:
Free running. It was now her thing. Well, she hoped it would now be her thing. There is a truth she had to admit to herself - she was already fit but she needed to be fitter. If the universe was out to get her, she needed to be able to run away from it faster. Too many weird coincidences have been happening lately.

Sticking to the pavements and alleyways was a good plan since there wasn't as much plant life there. Except suddenly there was. A person stepping out in to the curb carrying a giant potted plant. In her attempts to steer clear of this, she pushed off a wall with a kick and discovered that she was not, in fact, Batgirl.

Alanis pushes open the door in to the mutant town clinic and makes her way in. She has grazed the underside of both her arms on the hard cement. Somehow she avoided giving herself a nasty bump on the chin or scraping her knees though there are scuff marks on her pants. She is still breathing hard from the exertion of the run.

It is, then, that Alanis assumes the universe is out to get here because there is that random woman she met in the park when the park tried to kill her. "Viola?," she queries - too late now. She needs some help patching this mess up so running away will have to wait.

Viola Fiore has posed:
Viola reaches over to rest her hand on the shoulder of Baby Shanks. He's got dark hair with a few unkempt whiskers, in his late twenties. He's not the tallest of men. "Well, can get you checked out here and then Dad said I can drive you back to our place, or take you home, your choice."

Baby Shanks nods his head to her. "Thanks Viola," he tells her. "Mostly worried about my arm. The rest'll be ok." He glances around the room, spotting Robert Marksman as he comes out and starts examining people.

Viola hears her name said and she turns to see how it is. "Yes. Alanis, right?" she replies. Her eyes roam down Alanis, spotting the scrapes. "Uh oh," she says. "Let me guess, you went near a park again?" she says, tone a combination of wry and sympathetic in a mixture meant to express sympathy while also injecting the smallest amount of humor for the injured woman.

Alanis Bezanero has posed:
Alanis is one of those people who tends to get more than her fair share of scrapes and bumps. She's always out there recording the violence and events of the city - especially when it comes to Mutant Affairs. She tends to have the kind of friends who egg her on too.

"Potted plant being carried by someone who had just stepped out of a plant store and I was barreling down the street. So.. you know. The laws of physics are still a thing," she explains to Viola. She gives an ironic vulcan salute to Viola, "Best mutant powers ever." There's a twitch of her eyebrow subtly indicating she's not being serious. It's a rare thing, she's often revved up over something.

"Heya doc do you ever get that feeling like the universe is out to get you? and I don't mean in a 'i'm going crazy' kinda way where you recommend therapy and drugs - though some good drugs sound like fun. No I mean as in it's _really_ out to get me."

She holds out her grazed arms. It's a mess that's going to hurt and itch for ages as it heals, but it's not _too_ deep. This is the nicest walk in clinic she's walked in to.

Viola Fiore has posed:
The man that Viola came to check on leans to the side to see around Viola and check who she's talking to. There's a protective air in the way he does it, even with his arm needing support, though as he sees Alanis he relaxes again in his seat.

Viola gives a supportive grin to Alanis. "When isn't it out to get you? If it ever wasn't I wouldn't know where I was," she tells the other young woman. Viola glances over and motions to a chair beside the man that's open. "Feel free to take the seat, Miss Walking Wounded. Alanis, this is Michael. But we all call him Baby Shanks," she says in way of introduction. Baby lifts his hand and gives Alanis a little wave of greeting. "Hey there," he offers.

Viola glances back around the room, seeing a doctor seems to be making some rounds. "Hopefully not too long now. So did the plant survive?" she says, the latter question directed at Alanis.

Alanis Bezanero has posed:
Alanis lifts an eyebrow, "Do you have a small butt or something?" She knows she's joking - that doesn't mean others know she's joking. She sits down next to him regardless. "Nice to meet you," she says and holds up her hands indicating a handshake would not be appreciated at the moment.

"Better than the fucking walking dead sheeple of this broken city," she says.. ayup there she is. "But hey, the stupid plant survived. I have no idea how people do that kick off the wall spin roll and keep running thing they do in the movies or in those online videos of vigilantes. Fuck me if you don't just face plant. The guy was all like 'hey I'm walking here' and I really wanted to give him a piece of my mind, but, you know I was actually in a lot of pain. Who the hell deliberately buys a plant, they're already everywhere."

Viola Fiore has posed:
Baby is using one hand to support the other arm, a biological sling if you will, so he also seems fine on foregoing the handshake. The comment about a small butt causes his face, already graced by a fat lip and a growing shiner, to convolute a bit. It also causes Viola to laugh softly. "Nah, it's because he's got short legs," she tells Alanis. "Though hey, you're about as tall as me so /I'm/ not going to call you short," she tells Baby, getting a grudging nod from him.

Viola looks back to Alanis and says, "Yeah, might want to practice that stuff in a park at least where the landing isn't so rough. And doesn't scrape you up even if it is a hard fall. I've never really tried," she says of parkour. "But I imagine I'd face plant before long, yeah. So are you still doing the... you know, videoing stuff? Do you have a channel somewhere?"

Alanis Bezanero has posed:
Alanis chuckles and then sighs, "No way am I going to a park. The grass'll eat me." She has a somewhat dour face when she says this and then shrugs her shoulders. "Well yeah of course. People rely on me to bring them the unadulterated truth. Have you seen the news these days? it's not news, it's opinion pieces. They take the events and report them the way that suits them."

"Not all of my viewers have enough context to see the sick conspiracy of life, the way money is used to enslave them. The way advertising and propaganda is used to convince them they're free even though deep down they know they're not.
And this is your average cis het white dude - the rest of us, the mutants, the immigrants, the people of color - hell we see it every day. We shout at the top of our lungs but no one listens. So I try and teach them, try and keep them informed, try and get them to take a stand."

She pauses, "Oh, yeah, it's called Mutant Rights are Human Rights. You can follow me on @MRHR." She smirks a moment and says, "How about you, any water mains tried to blow you up recently?" She glances at Baby Shanks and really wants to sing 'baby shark' but she also doesn't feel like getting in a fight right now.

Viola Fiore has posed:
Baby glances over as Alanis starts to cross into her outlook on the state of society. He's a pretty salt of the Earth, hardnosed kind of guy. So he just stays quiet about his reaction, out of respect to the boss' daughter probably.

Viola though just gives a soft grin, though it slides a bit as Alanis asks after whether Vi has had more incidents like that in the park. "No, but I had a car accident. A nearly really nasty one," she tells Alanis. "That involved a statue of... I never did find out who it was. Anyway, big stone pillar falling onto the car. Except this guy caught it and saved me," she says. "But I'm still a little sore from the accident itself."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman comes walking over to the two next, and looks them both over a moment, he directs Baby Shank, to the reception window, telling him to tell the nurses 73, and he will be taken back to get saw about the arm. and the face. He offers Alanis a smile and says "So, lets see your arm." He asks, as he squats down a bit.

Alanis Bezanero has posed:
Alanis holds up both her grazed arms to Robert and raises an eyebrow, "It came out of no where." She smiles a touch but shrugs her shoulders. She's no stranger to a bit of rough and tumble. In this case a rough tumble. "Look I'm not exactly the kind of person who is.. flush with cash, or has health care, or a full time job, or a permanent residence. If you catch my drift..."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman looks to her and offers a smile, and says "We get a lot of folks like that here, we can put your address as the shelter for our records if need be, and most of us who work here are volunteers so your good there. He hmms and says "Come on back to the exam room, we will clean ya up, see if maybe a stitch or two if needed and get you bandaged up.

Alanis Bezanero has posed:
Alanis nods her head and says, "That works. I tend to couch surf around. Usually in mutant town." She rises up off of the chair and heads to the exam room with a sigh and says. "This serves me right. I should save the wild running for when an angry mob is chasing me - though, you do have to practice too right?," she says with a wry smirk and sits down on the exam bed for her wounds to be cleaned up. "Has this clinic been open long? I'm always heading over to Brooklyn. I only heard about this place by word of mouth the other day. Good thing too, because arms are really smarting."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman says, "Well it took us a bit to reopen after the whole town missing and such, but we have been here for a while." He will tell her getting a tray to put under her arms washing away any dirt and debris on her arms. "So, what were you doing to do this to yourself. Running from something or to it?""

Alanis Bezanero has posed:
Alanis smirks, "Running around it. I'm taking up free running. It's going to be my new thing. But I was running down the street and this guy, out of no where, steps out of a flower shop carrying a big pot plant and a huge green plant in it. I almost run in to him, so I did a quick turn and pushed off of the wall and then I was flying through the air and bam, hit the ground arms first. It turns out those parkour like moves? they don't come naturally."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman shakes his head a bit and says "No, no they don't and if your wanting to learn them, please make sure from a lower level, not some of the roof jump, stairway diving type." He does give her arms a look over kicking in the x-ray vision making sure nothing is wrong or broken inside them. Bringing out the super clue stitches for a couple small nicks. "I could just bandage here, but putting a stitch or two should hep limit scaring.

Alanis Bezanero has posed:
Alanis tilts her head and nods. She winces a little at the feeling of the stitching needle, but it seems like she's experienced this before. "Ah thank you doc. I'm Alanis by the way. You may end up seeing me around more now that I know you're here. I tend to get scrapes and bumps a lot. I document violence against mutants and protests for mutant rights."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman hmms and says "Well if your going to do that might want to invest in a leather jacket or something, closest thing you can get to armor semi cheap. and protect you from stuff like this." He motions to the arms . He starts wrapping them and says "I am Dr. MArksman, or you can call me Robert if you prefer.

Alanis Bezanero has posed:
Alanis raises an eyebrow and smiles. "I do have a leather jacket. It hadn't occurred to me that free running in a leather jacket would be a thing to do. But, actually, despite it being hot I think it will make sense to do that. It's a pleasure to meet you Robert. Thanks for doing this, Bushwick is still hurting after our abduction. Were you taken too? That was a freaky weird time. I moved from Florida to here to be with my people and then bam, alien abduction."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman shakes his head, and says "Na, I was out and about when it happened. Set up a temp clinic while it was gone, trying to help folks left behind, was more support group than medical, but I do think it helped. I've lived in the city my whole life.

Alanis Bezanero has posed:
Alanis nods her head, "Hey may be I should do a piece on your clinic. Or, would that be too much exposure for you? you might end up with lines of people looking for help.." She looks over the bandages around her arms and then chuckles, "See now it looks like I had an accident with a razor or something. Eh whatever. Leather jacket next time. Gotcha." She twists her lips and says, "Anyway I don't want to hog all your time, there's people who need a doctor a lot more than me."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman smiles and says "If you decide to do a bit on it, make sure you get the information on our link where people can donate to the place. I.. er we try to make sure it has everything it needs but a little extra here and there can always be useful for more help to the local population. " He offers her with a smile. He does pull out some paper work for her to sign.

Alanis Bezanero has posed:
Alanis looks at the paper on the clip board and then does a little sign and fills in her name and mobile number. She nods her head, "Sure will do. You're getting a glowing review." She slips off of the bed and hands the paperwork back. "See you around doc, you're one of the good ones."

Robert Marksman has posed:
Robert Marksman nods and will walk her out heading back to check for more patients, who might need help and checks for broken bones on any that need it to skip x-rays if possible. His eyes always hidden by those sunglasses.
