Roomies!
Date of Scene: 10 March 2020
Location: 11C - Unclaimed Dorm Room
Synopsis: Xiomara moves into the Happy Harbor dorms and meets her new roomie and fellow alien, M'gann.
Cast of Characters: Xiomara Rojas, M'gann M'orzz

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
First there was a knock- followed by the sound of a key sliding into the lock of the dorm room's door. Undoubtedly M'gann had been told to expect a room mate- they didn't just spring these things unexpected upon students.

But who should walk in? Xiomara. She's tall, somewhat intimidating. She doesn't have much with her- a ratty duffle on her shoulder and a wooden box under her arm- a rather sizable box, but it should fit somewhere without issue.

Due to the image inducer she's been requested to wear, Xiomara has decided to take the form of a young latina woman- albeit one with her exact facial features. The only real change is in eye color and skin-tone, now a lovely natural tan with amber eyes. She pauses once she enters the dorm to get the lay of the land.

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
Megan also has a bit of a slight advantage here, given the fact that Xiomara's psi signature was quite recognizable. The redhead hops to her feet as the door opens, a wide smile on her face. "Xio! They said we were going to be roommates!" She does a brief double take, before her face falls. ...Crap. She shouldn't have been able to recognize her new roomie...

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
"Figures they'd put people with powers together." Xiomara states simply once Megan says her name- a name she doesn't usually share. Still, she doesn't seem upset by it. She just makes an assumption.

"I guess that means I don't needta wear this stupid image enhancer or whatever it is." she continues as she ensures the door is closed behind her and locked as well.

"So.. which bed is mine?" she asks next, as she looks between the two beds.

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
"I mean, I'd already been sleeping in the top one. I'd always wanted bunk beds growing up." Megan waves a finger towards the window, venetian blinds closing to cut off any view in from outside, before swallowing a little nervously. Her facial features shift subtly, eyes a more brilliant golden amber, skin tone a soft green. "I'm M'gann M'orzz. But you can call me Megan Morse."

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
"So, keep the top one." Xiomara offers as then M'gann starts to change. She just watches. Nodding quietly as she fiddles with something on her arm- a bracelet she's kept tucked under one of her bracers. And there she is- a Czarnian girl in all her glory.

The bracelet is tossed onto one of the desks and Xiomara begins to unpack. The first thing she takes out is a picture- it's partially burned, beaten to hell and obviously well loved. Two people and Xiomara.

The three of them look so happy together.

Xio stares at the picture for a long moment before placing it on the desk nearest her captain height bed. The box is slid under the bed, into the corner. "Just be quiet down here, Obelus." she says to the Chain, "We'll sneak you out once and a while when no one is watching."

And then the duffle- it's everything she owns in the entire world.
"So. You're green? It's cute."

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
M'gann blushes furiously. Still... definitely not used to being called cute. "I'm actually from Mars. Hence, you know..." She gestures towards the posters on her side of the room. Shots of mars from Space, a blueprint drawing of one of the Mars rovers... "I'm guessing they thought putting the two aliens together because we could support eachother or something?" She shrugs. "They're letting me have my bioship pretend to be a Car too, if you want to go shopping for furniture or clothes or something..."

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
"Probably." Xio offers, agreeing as she makes the bed. "It's gunna be weird not sleeping on the floor." she mumbles to herself- Megan can undoubtedly hear it. "I grew up here on Earth, so I don't know what it's like to be up in space or nothin'." she admits. "But, I guess it still makes sense for the two us to be together here. Easier to relax if your roomie's from space too, I guess."

Xiomara continues to unpack. She takes a pair of weights out of the bag and drops them on the floor with a heavy THUD. They look quite heavy.

"So. How long you been here on Earth?"

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
"Well... I can totally take you up into space if you want to see what it's like. Do a little floating around in zero G. Ship isn't that big yet, though. only about the size of a four door car. I have to keep feeding her biomass so she can get bigger. And I've only really been on Eaerth a few weeks, but I spent a lot of time growing up watching broadcasts from Earth. Radio and TV, you know."

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
"Maybe another time." Xiomara says in regards to space as she starts to make the bed- putting sheets on it, a blanket. She fluffs the pillows. "This is all so damn fancy. I ain't never had sheets before, neither." she says, "Guess I'll enjoy the luxury whiles I can."

Xiomara has already started to make a name for herself at school- she's very quick to anger. She's very quick to defend those weaker than her- and usually that comes in the form of a punch.

"Only been here a few weeks, huh? You like Earth? It's kinda a weird place."

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
"I do, yeah! And I'm really glad we're roommates. I've never had one of those before. It was just Caretaker and me when I was growing up. oh, Um..." M'gann bites her lip, lowering herself back into her desk chair. "There was this plague a few thousand years ago that wiped out almost all of the Martian species. I grew up in a bunker called the Ark Project that was supposed to wait until everything was clear and start thawing frozen embryoes, but there was only enough power to thaw one out. Me. So i got raised by the AI controlling the place who has the psi imprint of someone who worked on the project." Megan's reputation, meanwhile, is mostly one of geekery outside her managing to gymnastics her way onto the Cheerleading team.

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
"Hunh. My biological father killed all the Czarnians." Xiomara offers. "There ain't any left 'cept for him.. and me, I guess. Only that makes me half-Czarnian. Ain't real sure what the other half is, though." she just shrugs at that, "Don't matter none. Ancient history, right?"

Xiomara unlaces her boots and slides them under her bed. She pulls some clothes out of her duffle and starts to put them into her drawers- she doesn't have a lot of clothes. A couple of pairs of leather pants like she enjoys, a bunch of t-shirts that all show off her stomach. Socks for her boots.

"Musta been weird bein' raised by a computer." Xiomara says, "I was lucky. My parents were pretty cool."

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
"I mean... I do like learning about History. But I'm still working on my Earth history. Not a lot of need for the other kind. And we do need to take you shopping for some more clothes." M'gann is blushing a little less now, but... Compliments are still new. And exciting. "It was... different? Nothing like what I saw on TV and I kind of wish I'd had more of a family, you know?"

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Xiomara nods slowly, "Don't really need more clothes. Ain't got no money to buy 'em." she says, "Anyways, I got what I need. Anything else I can finds without too much issue." A pair of shorts and another t-shirt come out of the bag next and Xiomara disappears around the corner to change.

She's back in moments, her leather pants tossed over a chair as she comes to rest on her bed in something more akin to pajamas. Comfortable clothing.

"Yeah, I can't imagine what it be like to grow up lonely like that. Musta sucked hard." Xio says, "I know I miss my 'rents." She misses them a lot. "I think they'd want me to try the school thing though. They couldn't never do that for me. We moved around too much."

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
"I mean, I get a stipend and stuff. My uncle helped me register it with SHIELD." It's kind of more obvious who said uncle is, now. ...Crap, did Megan just out J'onn by accident? ...Double crap. Wait, friend is sad! "If you'd be okay with it... martians are empathic as well as telepathic. If you want, we could share the burden for a bit. I understand if you are not comfortable being this close, though."

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
"Yeah, so you got family. You got an Uncle." Xiomara notes, "You oughta explore that." she continues, as she just lays back. "Eh.. TO be perfectly honest, Meg, I'd rather you stay outta my head." it's said politely at least.

Anyways, Xiomara's mind is not the human mind- it's hard-wired for aggression and anger and rage. She fights to keep it in check- but even now it's there, roiling and rolling just beneath the surface threatening to escape.

It's a strong memory that flashes in Xiomara's mind- one Megan might catch without even trying. It starts with a smell. Burning plastic, wood, and fabric. Burnt hair. And then a feeling- heat. And then an image- Xiomara's parents, each shot through the head and the poor girl wailing in pain and sorrow as she holds their bodies close before the cops arrived- Xiomara running into the night, only able to grab a picture before she escaped. She had nothing more.

    It's such an intense memory.

"I don't think you wanna be in my head anyways." Xio says with a slow breath, as she stands up from the bed and walks towards the small kitchen. She looks around, "Jeez. This is a nice kitchen." she says aloud as she looks into the fridge. Through the cabinets. Just exploring to escape that memory. "You want somethin' to drink? I got some coffee. Uh.. hot chocolate.. Couple of things like that in my bag."

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
"He's... He's not my real uncle. He's just the only other Martian that I know of who's not frozen at near absolute zero. it's easier and avoids the whole thing of everyone looking at me like I'm broken." M'gann stares down at her hands, shivering a little at that very brief flash. "I'll... I'll respect your wishes. I'm sorry. ...And I think I'd like hot cocoa. I should get some of that next time we get food. I've been trying to learn to cook, maybe I could make cookies?"

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
"And my parents weren't my real parents. Doesn't mean they weren't my parents. They still raised me. Loved me." Xiomara says- she has a certain understanding for strange family dynamics. Her parents were very strange people.

Xiomara walks on back to her bag and pulls out a smaller bag filled with various food-stuffs. "Whatever I got you can share." she says over to M'gann. It's back to the kitchen soon after. She unpacks all the food she brought- it's all fresh, purchased on her way over. She was told she'd have a fridge.

Thinking nothing of the fact that she's underaged, she first takes out a six pack of beer and slides it into the fridge. She follows that up with milk, some vegetables, a loaf of bread, a can of condensed milk that's put in the cabinet. "I'll make it like my mother made it." she says over to M'gann- apparently wanting to share that treat with a new friend.

She starts to heat some of the milk, adds condensed milk and the cocoa powder to the mix. She stirs it all together on low heat with a bit of water to help everything blend.

"It'll be a few minutes before it's ready, but it's worth it. My Mom used to make me this... all the time, really. It's not expensive and it's easy. She weren't the best cook, but she could do this real good. Makes me feel.. I dunno. I just like it." It makes her feel like her Mother is still there with her...

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
"It's still kind of weird, though. Like... He's J'onn J'onzz. The Martian Manhunter. I grew up watching him on TV. And now he's helping me go to school." Megan rises to her feet and half walks half hovers after Xio, rising a little to peer over the tall girl's shoulder. "Oooooh. I've only ever had the instant powder kind before. You can teach me recipes from your mom, and I can teach you stuff I've figured out! ...But no martian vegetables. You don't have the biology or the mouth for it. And there's too much hexavalant Chromium. It's why I can't let anyone eat the veggies I'm growing for the science fair."

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
"Well, I mean, I use instant stuff." Xiomara says as she offers the can of chocolate over to M'gann, "She just added other stuff to it. Said that's how her Mom did it. So.. I guess it's like a family recipe?" she shrugs, still stirring the drink slowly, making sure nothing burns or gets curdled- it just takes slow, easy stirring though. "Oh, my Mom was a horrible cook. After I was maybe.. seven? I did mosta the cooking." she offers, "Mom and Dad were usually stoned off their asses." There's no anger or resentment there, surprisingly. Just a statement of fact.

Soon, the drink is ready. Two large mugs are found and each is poured full with the hot chocolate.

It's steaming and nice, but not overly hot. It wouldn't burn anyone's mouth. Xio offers Megan one of the mugs.

"I ain't human, maybe I can eats them." Xiomara notes, "I mean, ain't like I gotta worry the same as most people."

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
M'gann somewhat guiltily pushes her box of swissmiss further back into the corner with a quick TK push. It's /relaxing/ to be able to use it again. "...Stoned? They were hit with rocks?" Okay, slight translation and idiom flaw here. She gratefully accepts thee coffee, sipping appreciatively. "I mean... imagine something that looks like brocolli or a ginger root but with the inside closer to sugar cane."

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
"Yeah, crack rocks." Xiomara states, again- without any anger. It was just normal to her, and her parents were never intentionally neglectful- in fact, they played with her and paid attention to her constantly. There is no doubt in her mind that her parents loved her completely.

"Huh. Okay. So like real stringy and stuff." she says with a nod as she moves over to the couch to sit down with her hot chocolate. Sipping it quietly.

It was a taste of home and this is supposed to be home.

"What's it taste like?" Xio wonders next, just laying back into the comfy sofa. It was nice to have one that wasn't busted all to hell.

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
"Hmmmmmm... I don't really think I know the words to describe it, or how human tastes differ from Martian..." M'gann ponders, sipping her cocoa slowly and lowering herself onto the sofa as well. For a moment, everything's quiet, and then the redhead straightens up a little. "Hello, Megan! I could just send it to you! I mean... If you were okay with that. Just a one way link. ...It'll probably feel kind of weird though. Different mouth shape and tastes and all..."

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
"Uh.. I'd rather just try it myself, to be perfectly honest. And again- I ain't human. Not really sure what I am other than half Czarnian." Xiomara admits with a shrug before she finishes her hot chocolate. She stands up, washes the pot she made the hot chocolate in and washes her mug before setting them over to dry. "I think I'mma hit the sack." she says over to Megan, "See you in the morning, I guess. I gets up early to work out, so, might not be here when you wakes up."

M'gann M'orzz has posed:
"Okay. I'm just not sure if I'm allowed to, since I can't grow it on Earth, and there'd be all sorts of rules and stuff about it. ...I should probably keep studying, but thanks for the cocoa!" Megan returns to her 'human' form and gives a cheerful smile before relocating back to her desk, continuing to slowly sip. "I'll stay quiet. I hope you sleep well!"
