Cast of Characters: Lorna Dane, Raven Darkholme, Gabby Kinney

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna was outside, bundled up and trying to get her thoughts in order. The Mansion was too loud, and there were just too many students about and people for her to think. So the green haired woman threw on a pair of boots, and a jacket and went outside to seek some measure of peace and quiet. Even if it was colder than she cared to deal with. Her body had become accustomed to Genosha's climate and she was not prepared to deal with the cold of New York. Even if it was warming up considerably compared to the full burnt of Winter in the North East.

Lorna heaved a breath, shoving her gloved hands into her pockets as the wind swept through the trees over head and an overcast cloud dimmed the afternoon's weak sunlight into a soft gloomy shadow.

Raven Darkholme has posed:
From within the house, one of the teens steps out and is throwing on a pale colored hoodie and zipping the zipper up to his chin before reaching up and pulling the hood over his shaggy brown hair.

"Uh, hey miss Dane." The near adult says as he approaches the bundled Queen and then as he gets near her he looks to her eyes, trying to get her to look into his and he takes a moment to bow down to a knee next to her, his basketball shorts covering his knee against the cool ground. "I've been looking hard for you my Queen." His voice says, cracking once.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
The best of the snow was already gone making Gabby a little sad she hadn't really had a chance to just enjoy it for the first time. An annoyed teenage kick is swung at a clump of snow as she trudges along back toward the manor from the path to the Lake. That's where Logan's cabin was, and she felt she ought to go visit at least once in awhile. Not that he was home currently. So with hands stuffed into the pockets of her jacket, hood up to keep off the chill because that seemed the thing she ought to do, she makes her way back to the familiar back yard.

Just in time to see a young man kneel in front of Lorna.

There's a shocked gasp as Gabby comes to a sudden halt clapping her hands over her mouth while staring wide-eyed at this spectacle. "Ohmygosh Lorna! Are you getting proposed to? Can I be a flower girl!?"

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna become used to people coming up to her in the Mansion. Used to people in general. Perhaps she should be more wary, all things considered, there were doubtlessly people out there that would happily kill one of the last remaining royals from Genosha's mutant regime. But as the young man approached, she barely registered him as something odd or 'off'.

Most the fact that he stopped by her and then after holding her attention fell into a kneel. She gasped, bending over to try to encourage the youth in a hoodie to stand rather than kneel on the cold damp ground.

"No, no.. get up. Don't.." She was fumbling for a loss of words. A few people had already called her 'Queen' and a few survivors had whispered at her passing.. But no one had //knelt//.

Which is how Gabby stumbled upon her, and she missed meeting the stranger's eyes as she blinked in stunned disbelief at Gabby. "What?! No!"

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Irwin stands back up with an odd sort of confused look to his face as Lorna requests him to stand like she's embarrased. "I um.... I just heard about your dad..." He says trying to drop another hint for Lorna to catch onto, before he looks over at Gabby and lifts one of his thick bushy eyebrows to the younger mutant.

"I don't think I'm eligible to marry into royalty either way." He says with a look to Lorna and an awkward kind of wink towards the adult.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"Oh." Gabby's hands drop back down to her side palm outward in a helpless sort of shrug at the news that, no, she wasn't getting proposed to. Alas. "Well I'm sure you'll find your prince or princess some day," she offers to Lorna consolingly before flashing a broad grin toward the teen she didn't know. Then again she really hadn't gotten to know many here other than a few of the teachers, staff, and others. Classes weren't something she attended--At least not yet, or if she could avoid it in the first place.

Since nothing SPECTACULAR was going on she just tromps over the slushy snow closer to the pair with a tip of her head as 'Irwin' goes ahead mentioning Lorna's dad. "I never had a dad, but I know what it's like to lose my sisters. I'm sorry you're going through that, Lorna."

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna cast a distracted look at 'Irwin', she certainly didn't keep track of students or who did or didn't belong at the Mansion. It wasn't her job to know such things. The youthful face and sweatshirt blended into the sea of faces that came in and out of the student's dorm hall every day. She shrugged, though her gaze looked momentarily pained.

"I'm not.. I.." She fumbled for words as Gabby spoke to her about losing her sisters. She reached out a hand toward the younger mutant, trying to settle a hand on Gabby's shoulder if allowed.

"I've never been very close with my siblings, but we're all we've got now I guess.." She exhaled a breath. "And I only got to know him for a few short years. He didn't raise me.. But thank you. I miss him. A lot."

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Irwin looks down to Gabby and takes note of the girl, taking a moment to look her over as she is quite familiar to the shapeshifter but, he doesn't say anything else and whips his hair out of his eyes with a turn of his head. Looking fully at Lorna, Irwin speaks again. "Not to sound rude, but I know your people could really use their leader in a time like this. I know you're having a hard time, but ... they are going to be feeling lost, neglected and uncared for..." Irwin notes, not trying to sound harsh but sound honest.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney glances up at Lorna when she places her hand on her shoulder only to smile tight lipped at the woman. She wasn't upset by the memory of her sisters. Merely trying to show she undersood, because she did. In her own way. When Irwin starts to talk about needing people she steps in closer to Lorna to throw her arms around the Queen of Genosha's waist in a hug. Just in case *Lorna* needed it, too.

But Irwin was there as well.

Gabby reaches out with the arm closest to him to make a grabbing 'come here' motion along with the demand of, "Group hugs!" And if he's not quick she might just pull him into it.

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna's expression twisted with emotion as 'Irwin' spoke and she felt her lips part in shock as he went in for her duties and responsibility. She inhaled sharply, looking rather annoyed that this student started to talk to her like that. This person that didn't know her, and in her mind, didn't know what they were talking about.

"I have subjects here. I have refugees in Wakanda, in Genosha, and Mutant Town. People need time to grieve. I have been to visit them and I--" Her voice became choked, heated with a tangle of anger and guilt. Which is when Gabby leaned in and pulled her close around her waist for a hug.

It was very effective at cutting off the green haired woman's rant and annoyance and she felt her expression soften again as she wrapped her arm loosely about Gabby in response.

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Irwin blinks at the hand outstretched to him and then takes the hard swallow and leans forward to warp those lanky arms around Lorna and Gabby. An awkward teen hugging another teen and the Queen of the mutants.

Though he does try to pull away and break the hug somewhat quickly, as teens are aught to do.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney seems satisfied enough with this as she beams a bright encouraging smile to the both of them. Whatever duties Lorna had, she wasn't entirely sure, so hearing Irwin suggest she wasn't doing the right things? Or enough of the right thing? "Sometimes the first step to helping is just being there for people. Helping them realize they're still strong, too, even if they're hurting." Insight? From her? Maybe she got it out of a fortune cookie.

When Irwin pulls away she gazes at him a moment with a quick sniff as if she'd begun to get the sniffles from the cold. Then she steps away from Lorna as well to give her a chance to recover. "You got an idea how to help?"

Lorna Dane has posed:
Lorna exhaled a deep breath, looking away from her irritation at Irwin as he stepped awkwardly away and Gabby spoke. She smiled at the younger mutant instead and she shook her head. "Until last week people thought I was dead, so you know... baby steps." She murmured softly, she had at least made one big public appearance.. and a few smaller ones here and there.

"And besides that I don't know if I can do much without falling apart. People need someone stable. With experience. They deserve better than me.. I don't even know what I'm doing." She sighed and shrugged once, looking down at the cold ground that still partially clung to winter.

Raven Darkholme has posed:
Irwin looks down to Gabby and takes a deep breath before looking back to Lorna and sighs deeply. The boys voice is gone, in it's place is something deep, barritone and intuitively familiar to Lorna, "Lorna, this isn't the way a Queen should act. I understand you need time to grieve, but you are to be a rock for all mutants first, this is greater than you." Erik's voice comes perfectly from Iwrin but then he closes his eyes to Lorna and starts to turn to the door. That was too risky.
