Synopsis: The surprises keep on coming for Morrigan's birthday
Cast of Characters: Hank Pym, Morrigan MacIntyre, Michael Hannigan

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym would have made a good villain. He made that clear once. Since then... he got kinder voices in his head so to speak. For an arrogant jerk he can be extremely kind and generous to the few, the brave, who put up with him. So he looked the part for Morrigan's 'kidnapping' appearing in his Yellowjacket uniform and holding out a lovely green blindfold for her and then whisking her to... here. Fingertips on her shoulders to guide the principal, Hank finally allows, "All right. Remove the blindfold."

Goddam. This room better fill up. Bo sits and waits for permission to pounce. That's about it. He looks around for Mike then quickly back to Morrigan.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan had been a little late to school that morning and by lunch she was lagging from not having slept much on top of dealing with police. She had done the whole green for Saint Patrick's day though, wearing a swing style dress in hunter green with a panel of Blackwatch tartan at the collar and in a skirt panel. Her makeup was done to hide the tiredness though.

By some force of will doesn't bite 'kidnappers'. She figured someone had figured out her birthday and this was what was going to happen. It was probably more annoying to Hank that she started asking 'are we there yet?' five minutes into the journey. And so they were here! The red head carefully removes the blindfold and blinks her eyes to adjust to the room that she's in. "Karaoke?" she asks cautiously as she looks around to see who all is in on this.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
As Mike is not working, Mike is not in anything that could be described as a costume. His attire is pretty much the same as the past few times Morrigan's seen him. The clothes are different but yet...not. The general look is still there. Jeans. T-shirt. Hair pulled back and tucked into the collar of his shirt to create the illusion of short hair. The jacket is draped on the back of the chair while the knitcap is tucked into a pocket.

Sitting beside Mike is Wade Shaw. With the blonde hair already short there's no need to tuck anything in the collar. Nor would the want to. Unlike Mike, his attire is a bit nicer. He's in his early 30s which means he is the much wiser of the two(*) As in, higher end jeans and a designer blue shirt. After all, good appearances are necessary when you run a successful business.

Before the two of them, they both appear to be drinking water. How boring. But in front of Mike is a giftbag. Oooh!

As Hank looks around, Mike looks over, lifting up a hand to wave. This causes for Wade to glance over briefly before looking back over.

(*)Claim is currently being contested by Mike and is subject to change.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym says, "Happy Birthday Dr. Mac... Morrigan. he holds a chair out for her. Isn't she Irish, guys?" He wonders absently if she ever sits down on her hair. That must be awkward. Yes well, I gave... Morrigan her present previously, another little robot. I hope that it gets some usage. He goes to take his own seat next to Morrigan.

Hank Pym should not be in charge of inviting people to a party. This is on him, somehow. He knows it.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan's gaze settles on Mike and Wade, a smile and a wave given as she does, "Hello Mike! Who is your friend?" she asks him. She then gives a look to the bag and around the bar again, "Is there going to be a flood of co-workers appearing or are we safe?" she asks them with a chuckle.

Then she looks to Hank and there is a smile, "Thank you Hank." she tells him as she takes care not to sit on her hair when she does take the seat that is offered. "You guys didn't have to do anything for my birthday." she points out with a soft smile to them. "But I thank you for it. I don't think I've celebrated it really in years." she admits.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike's expression brightens as Morrigan and Hank make their way over to their table. A little off to the side furthest from the main entrance which, does sacrifice some of the acoustics but there's less chance of being bumped into by another party that may have been drinking heavily. "Hey Morrigan." He returns back, tilting his head over to the slightly taller and older looking blonde man that is smiling to Morrigan as well. "I'd like you to meet my friend Wade".

Wade reaches over a hand in offering to the doctor. "Wade Shaw. Pleasure to meet you. Mike said that you were a doctor?"

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym waves off the admission of forgetting birthdays. "Nonsense a... a nice woman like you should have their birthday... remembered." He gets up suddenly, "I should see about our food. I ordered out for hot wings and pizza. Excuse me." Hank's face is hard to read behind the visor and mask. He hurries to the bar.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan doesn't mind being away from the main entrance. Less time she has to spend worrying about things. She gives a smile to Wade as he offers his hand and she gives him a friendly handshake, "It's nice to meet you, Wade. And I am, yes. I specialize in Pathology mainly." she tells him. "How are you guys doing on this Saint Patrick's day?" she asks the two of them.

Then she looks to Hank as he speaks and there is a smile, "That's very sweet of you all." she tells him. Then he's getting up and moving suddenly to go check on food and Morrigan gives a look back to Mike, "Is he okay?" she asks him. She gives a look to Bo and there is a little wave of her fingers, "How is my favorite ant today?" she asks him.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike turns his head to watch Hank head off towards the counter. Upon him reaching there, he looks back over towards Morrigan. "It's hard to tell with the mask on." He admits, "He's very detail oriented. It could very well be checking on the food. But I'll go check." Intentions stated, he gets up, leaving Morrigan to Wade. Crossing the room, he comes to a stop next to Hank. "...You doing alright?"

Wade glances towards the bar as Mike walks off before looking back to Morrigan. "We're doing ok. Good news from observing this place while waiting is that it does not appear they're serving any beer dyed green." He picks up his water, giving it a sip before setting the glass down. "Pathology. Which is that?"

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym puts his hand on Mike's shoulder. "You should know by now... I'm always functional. But not always okay. I'm starting to dip into the depression cycle annnnnd every crappy detail about my life is staring me n the face. Sometimes I hear them or see them but... they aren't fooling anymore and I am banishing them without any more goddam pills. Do I look it? Do you think I should leave the mask on? Take it off? Maybe I should just go... "

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
"Thank you." Morrigan tells Mike with a soft smile. She wasn't sure her asking Hank that was going to be alright this early on in a friendship. Her violet gaze turns back to Wade and she smiles to him, "But isn't green beer one of the staples of having a proper American Saint Patrick's day?" she asks him with a chuckle. "And Pathology is the science of causes and effects of diseases. Especially the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes. My subspeciality is in Hematology. Which is the study of the blood." she offers to him. "What do you do, Wade?" she asks him curiously as Mike and Hank have their conversation.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike rests his forearms on the bar, leaning into it as he cranes his head to look to the scientist. "You got to do right by you first. If you want to stay. Stay. If you want to keep wearing the mask. Wear the mask. If you want to sing. Sing. If you want to stay quiet. Well..." He tilts his hand palm upwards diagonally and slides it away from himself. The head tilts, "There's the pattern. Either way. We'll be sitting there with you if you choose to stay."

Wade chortles. "Don't ever let Mike hear you say that. The Hannigan in him is pretty particular about his beer." He glances to the pair of water glasses, "When that time comes around. As for what I do, I was a bassist and now own and operate Shaw Studios." He pauses lifting up the glass, "Recording studio. So, any particular blood disease or just, anything blood related?"

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym might be seen to knock his head back and place a small glass on the bar. A minor quibble starts with the man who ordered the drink but reparations are made and Hank is a big damn super hero. Pizza and wings arrive about then and Hank gives a tip, takes the boxes and bags and is all smiles as he returns to the table.

"Hello Wade, forgive my manners. So glad that you could come. Hope you're all better now." He gives Morrigan an especially bright smile as he sits.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a look to the bar to see how things are going, but she looks back to Wade and continues conversations with him. "Oh I'll be sure not to tell him." she muses to that. "Did you used to play in a band?" she asks him curiously. Then there is a nod to him, "Blood related in general, aye. I used to be the head of Pathology at Mount Sinai, but stepped down to focus on Happy Harbor full time." she explains.

When Hank returns to the table she returns the smile, "How was your day?" she asks him.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym shrugs. "I'm having a little trouble getting students for my AP workshop. Apparently I taught one of their parents in grad school. The word got around that my former grad students burned me in effigy and the kids got shy. But the ones who stayed seem tough enough. The student's dad was a big baby, just between us." A server comes up with a tray of beers and the scientists helps serve them.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Wade nods, head tilting in indication to Mike. "We were both members of Silver Round. Bass and drums. Happy Harbor, the town? Taking up boating?"

Mike watches the drink get knocked back, unsure to when he managed to orderone. But the momentary discord did explain things. While Hank turns towards the delivery man, Mike gets the bartender, making a gesture to the man whose drink was stolen. Makes a 1 motion and points to himself. The bartender gives a slow nod to which Mike leaves. Either that guy will get a drink after the one Hank took care of. Or Mike is going to end up getting whatever that guy was having. WE'LL FIND OUT. Either way. Someone is getting a drink. Task accomplished, the musician follows Hank back over to the table.

As the two at the bar return and Hank addresses him, Wade looks over to Hank and the boxes. To the mention of hoping he's better, the elder musician lifts up his hand. "Cast came off last week." He replies, matter of factly, voice betraying a bit of a good mood at the reminder. "Thanks for inviting me, Hank."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan listens to Hank and there is the smallest fof frowns that touches her lips, "I am sure that we can find a few people for the class. Maybe Vivian and others will be interested." she offers. "And I'm sure with the incoming kids there will be new interest." she explains. "And there are quite a few parents that are babies. But I won't tell them." she muses to that. She gives a smile when beers are brought out as well.

"That sounds like it was fun. And I run a school over in Happy Harbor. Though I did buy a house on the beachfront there over the summer last year as well." she admits to that. "It's a nice little place. Figured it wouldn't hurt living there." she explains.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym steeples his fingers. "I'm not dumbing down my workshop for people or holding their hands. If they get a job in research, people are not going to care if they gave it a good try. They will want results. Same thing in college. As to Vivian, I assume GIRL is going to take a lot of her time and I do not want to deal with her divided loyalties. She has enough to deal with."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Wade gives a bit of a nod. "What was the real estate market like when you purchased your home? Plenty of stand alone homes to choose from?" He pauses as he looks over to the curious look flashed to him by Mike. "Oh like you never took a break from New York City." He murmurs.

Point taken, Mike lets his inquiry drop and glances over to Hank.

The sounds of music start to filter over the speakers. An older woman climbs up onto the small stage and walks over to the microphone stand. Tapping it. There's the high pitched whine of feedback that feeds through triggering some yelps.

The musicians collectively wince, turning away from the speakers.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a blink at what Hank says about the kids, but she doesn't really get into it. "I'm guessing I don't see the kids as needing their hands held. Some of them just aren't sure about where they can apply themselves. Sometimes they need some guidance." she points out. "I'm not sure what GIRL is, but if Vivian has other things that she's doing then it makes sense." the woman states as she takes one of the beers and sips at it. The glass is settled on the table.

Then she looks to Wade and there's a smile, "It was an alright market. I found an old victorian and had to pay for renovations and things. But it's beautiful now." she admits. When the speakers feed back there is a cringe away from it, "Oh that hurts." she chuckles as she goes for her beer again. "What kind of house are you looking for, Wade?" she asks him.

Hank Pym has posed:
Service animal training or not, Bo dives under the table at the sound of the feedback. Hank glances at him and then reaches out a hand to touch an antenna and the ant vanishes for a moment, until he flies up, merely ant-sized and enters a compartment on Hank's belt. Listens to the lady sing 'You're my Thrill' shakes his head and gets up. "Something must be done. I'm going in!" He pulls his mask off as he mounts the stage and grabs the mic. Bo quickly flits to Mike.

And so...

"The eye of the tiger!

"The eye of the tiger!

"The eye of the tiger!" A scattering of clapping. Hank returns to the table.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
As the feedback goes away, Wade turns back towards the conversation. "No shared walls. Control over the whole building in terms of improvements so as not to disturb the neighbors."

A couple at a nearby table turn their heads to look over, giving 'a look'.

"...Mind your business, please." Wade requests of the table neighbors staring at him.

Mike considers the specifications as they pause to watch the energetic going ons of Dr. Henry Pym : Ant whisperer. He claps along with the rest of the audience until Hank returns to his seat. And turns back to Wade who has followed suit. "Building another studio?"

Wade grins, lowering his hands, "I was thinking more of a retreat- that happens to have a studio. Might as well rent it out when we're not using it directly."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan continues to drink her beer, the redhead looking off after Hank as he goes to sing. And oh boy that's a number! She gives a round of applause for the Doctor as he makes his way back to the table. "That was good." she tells him.

Then she gives a look to Wade and Mike, nodding her head to what they are looking for, "I can see if my realtor can find something. I turned the basement into a lab as I have a penchant to over work myself." she chuckles.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym steeples his fingers and clears his throat. "Overwor... no comment on that. Thank you my friends. I think I'll just keep singing as a back up in case this science thing doesn't work out." He takes another beer. "Baudelaire... get back over here right now." The ant flies back, perching on Hank's finger, then flying back into the ant motel on the belt. "Pathology can be fascinating. I spent a couple months trying to diagnose some problems of my own. It's hard when you're the only case study and you're doing the study. I finally sorted it out with a lot of help."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Wade nods to Morrigan "That sounds great. Much appreciated." He reaches into his pocket, pulling out a business card, offering it towards Morrigan. "Here's a way they can reach me. Or you can send over the contact information for the realtor. Whichever's easiest for you."

You're welcome to consider it, Hank. Have to start from somewhere." Mike replies, watching as Bo leaves him. The small stature making him a bit hard to see until he moves back towards Hank.

"Case in point. Most of Mike's music training happened AFTER he joined a band." Wade points out, with a laugh, looking to the glass before him before glancing to Hank's beer. "Oh good. It's not green."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan crosses one knee over the other and smoothes her skirt over them as she listens to people sing. It's not the best singing, but she's heard much much worse noises. She finishes the beer that was ordered for her rather quickly and it shows by the pink in her pale cheeks. "Pathology is usually a bit harder when you try it on your own. If you ever need help let me know." she tells Hank as she waves down the waitress for another drink.

She reaches out to take the card from Wade and there's a nod, "For sure. I'll either have them contact you or do it myself. Neither is trouble." she smiles to that. Then she quiets a bit more, listening to the conversations around them.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym smiles and says, "I... thank you but I'm awful to work with. The kids are different. But... I have... I'm not easy and I would like to remain friends. The only person I ever worked well with was my daughter. I couldn't be mean to her." Though somehow he succeeded a couple times.

"I mean we could try but if you don't care to continue you can just drop it. But maybe I could assist you? I am a good biochemist."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
As a rendition of Tomorrow from Annie goes on over the speakers, Mike reaches over for the binder with the music selection options and starts to skim through it. "For one, I was eighteen. Two, my employment options at the time was working a convenience store or working at another conveneince store. It was worth a shot."

Wade gives a nod, "Yeah you've been making up for it for the past decade..." The studio owner looks over to the conversation between Morrigan and Hank, "So why is it you didn't become a medical doctor, Hank?"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a look to Hank and there's a bit of a curious look to him, "You realize we're co-workers in a way, correct?" she asks him. "If you think that it is better for friendships then that's alright." she adds though. She didn't want to make him uneasy. "Your daughter sounds like she is a grounding presence for you." she states with a softer smile. "Assist me with what?" she asks him as she gets her next beer. Apparently she wasn't worried on drinking too much. The question from Wade makes her nod a little softly. Good question Wade!

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym looks a little embarrassed. "I have bipolar disorder. Not a good idea to give me a prescription pad. I never completed formal training and exams for a license. I am a trained first responder. I've rendered all manner of aid to my teammates and friends."

He turns back to Morrigan and says, "Assist you with whatever you're researching of course. No I'm saying we could work on something just... if we don't click no harm no foul. What have you been working on?"

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Wade gives a nod. "I see." He glances over towards Mike briefly, seeing the younger looking through the binder. He looks back, giving a shrug, "Still. You've done a lot. Can't do everything. That's just asking for a burnout."

Mike grabs one of the table notepads and writes down a code before getting up from the table to turn it in.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan looks down to the beer she was drinking and realizes that is almost gone, "Oops." she mutters to herself. "I skipped lunch. Probably can do one more beer...then water for me." she murmurs to no one in particular. Though she looks to Hank and there's a bit of a smile, "I'm not researching anything currently, but I tend to go down in the middle of the night and get into work on a whim." she admits. "Research isn't all sunshine and roses. Toes get stepped on. Beakers get broken. If things aren't all groovy that's not the end of the world." she tells him.

"So if you want to try working on a project we can." she nods to this before she finishes the rest of her beer.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym finishes his beer. "I'd like to see how the school year goes first. I mean I know I'm just teaching part time, but I have my own lab, my government consultation, and I do help the Avengers as well. Can I take a raincheck?"

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Wade looks between Hank and Morrigan brow arching. "Hmm."

Over the speakers there's an intercome message almost carnival barker or coach style seemingly coaxing the listener.

'Welcome to the real world kid. You didn't ask to be here but this is where you are
And this is all you will know and this is all you will do. Follow me.'

Wade grins, turning his head to see a surprised Mike walking up, tapping him on the shoulder and gesturing to the stage. "No line." He explains. The two musicians move up to the stage as the speaker finishes the intro into the singing part.

'Left. Right. Left. Right. Left. Right. NOW!

Gotta hit the ground before the moon comes down, get your beak into the dirt
Cause the birds out there still waking up are the last to get their worm
And even when the table's full only the foolish slow down
I've been around long enough to know there ain't enough to go round...'

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a look to Hank and there's a bit of a blink, "I...yeah. That's fine." she tells him. Then there is a buzz on her phone and she sighs as she thinks. Wait, didn't four beers get delivered to the table and no one drank a few? The Irish woman takes the incentive to make quick work of a third. The glass is deposited onto the table top and she looks between the three of them as she talks, "Thank you all for the lovely birthday gathering, but I need to be getting home. One of the officers wants to check over the house again and I need to let them in." she states as she stands up from her chair. She opens her wallet and fishes a few twenties out before putting them on the table as a tip. Always tip good!

But Mike and Wade are heading up to sing and she can't be rude and leave yet. "Ah they can wait a minute." the women states quietly as she leans against the back of her chair.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym heads Morrigan off and hands her back the bills. "You are not paying one dime. It's your birthday. Period." He puts the money into her hand, then continues to hold it gently.

Broken Hank is gone.

This is the man who was ready to obliterate half of Russia for his daughter. This is the Hank Pym who moved Micro Worlds and wrestled with a singularity. This Hank Pym threw himself into the fray countless times, not heeding his safety or health. The intense blue eyes lock into beautiful violet ones and then soften to concern.

"Officers? Did I miss something? Are you all right? Was there a break in?"

Michael Hannigan has posed:
'...So it's left, right, left, down, the trail of the dead
And only six feet between me and catching my breath
Only six feet between me and getting some rest.'

While the song doesn't contain high notes, the two guys on stage are in tune and hitting the rhythm of the song which... is pretty good for the venue. Ah the power of low expectations. The two nod to the clapping before stepping off the stage and walking over to the table. Hank's inquiry about a possible break in does get some looks from the performers. "...Things ok?" Mike asks.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan wasn't expecting anyone to head her off, so she gives a little jump when Hank does, "It is a tip for the waitress. I can tip on my birthday, right?" she asks him as she looks at the money in her hand. Then back to Hank. Her features soften and there's a moment she takes a breath, "Something got delivered to the house and it was unusual. I don't really have the stomach to talk about it right now. Tomorrow maybe." she tells them.

"I just need some fresh air and some sleep." she chuckles as she runs her free hand through her hair. "And if I'm not there and they go in Occam is going to death from above them from the fridge and I don't need my cat incarcerated for assaulting an officer of the law." she muses. Because Occam would absolutely do it.

"Mike and Wade...you guys did great." the flushed face woman tells them with a smile.

Hank Pym has posed:
Hank Pym thinks for a moment of another woman who said she was not worried and her wonderful American husband would protect her. He fast forwards to a restaurant exploding almost in his face, knocking him flat.

He slowly releases Morrigan's hand. "We are escorting you home. All three of us. You are obviously upset and we will be there to support you. Dealing with a police investigation is very stressful. When you are safe at home we'll leave. You don't have to tell anything until you want to. The police can deal with you. If it gets to overwhelm you... well I have a little pull with the authorities. I... you made friends with a superhero and two badassed rockers. You brought this upon yourself." Small smile.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike and Wade share a glance at the mention of things being delivered being the reason for Hank's concern. There's an exchange of nods before Wade pulls out his wallet to square up the rest of the table's expenses. Mike can pay him back later. He knows where he lives. Mike grabs the gift bag. "Right. Let's go."

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a soft nod to Hank, "Alright Hank." she states. "Thank you all for the birthday dinner. I did have fun. I just...haven't had a drink in awhile so I'm all flustered." she chuckles as she starts for the door again. Money is deposited back into her bag and she keeps close to the group as they head out. Even if she could just snap her fingers and be home, she didn't want to chance the wrath of Doctor Pym.
