Catching up on things
Date of Scene: 16 April 2021
Location: Level 4 - Recreation - The Roost
Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: Conner Kent, Hope Summers

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner usually doesn't get tired unless he has been pushing his habilities for a few hours (or firing heat beams for a few minutes). Not physically.

Mentally tired? Well. It seems a week of college exams (and no sleep) did manage to put a dent. It is the weekend and he came to the Roost, took a nap (a long nap) and now he is heading for the kitchen for something... an unspecified something that can get his neurons back to working.

The problem is that he doesn't need food. And stimulants don't do anything in his solar-powered biology. But what can he do?

Hope Summers has posed:
Things have been fairly hectic since Hope got back, and she's been racking her brain over the mysterious organization that's been attacking metahumans all over town lately. It's been frustrating too, because she hasn't really found any solid leads.

It was Soo much easier when all she had to worry about was surviving a war or escaping to another time stream..

After a long night, Hope has actually fallen asleep on the sofa with papers and books strewn on the coffee table in front of her and a coffee gone cold on the table.

Conner Kent has posed:
If there is a girl sprawled and snoring on a sofa with papers and books, it is always Phoebe. That means Conner barely even pays attention, except maybe to walk a little more quietly he usually does. He is almost past the sleeping girl when he notices the red hair.

What is this? He peers briefly, picking one of the books to check what it is about. Not that Hope hates books or anything (at least he doesn't remember she said it) but the girl is a bit on the barbarian side in so many regards. Experience as a teacher, not book. Or something like that.

Hope Summers has posed:
Hope Summers yawns and stretches, stirring a bit as he comes near. And while most of the books are more weapons magazines and tactical literature, there are some books about history mixed in with newspaper clippings and notes about the mystery organization that's been causing them trouble lately.

"Hmm...Woah.." she blinks, sitting up straight, rubbing her eyes, "Did I fall asleep? Heh, Conner, what are you doing up so late?" she smiles sheepishly.

Conner Kent has posed:
Oh, oops. Conner forgot Hope is a very light sleeper. "It is not late, sun is setting right now." He reaches for her head to pull some hair off her face before catching himself. "Er... how long have you been here?" He straightens and looks at the clippings and notes. N.O.W.H.E.R.E. has been quiet for nearly a month. He has also been checking.

Hope Summers has posed:
Hope Summers laughs, "Sun setting?" she yawns again and pouts. "Geez, I guess I lost track of time, huh..Er.." she pauses a moment as he brushes hair out of her eyes, smiling faintly but shaking her head. No need to get all nostalgic..

"Dunno, a couple of hours? Just drives me crazy that I can't get any leads on this.." she arches a thoughtful brow at him. "How you been, Conner? I guess a lot has happened since I left..We never really got to...Catch up."

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner hehs, flopping down on an armchair some distance from the sofa. "That is because you never stop to catch up," he teases. But that is okay, because he used to be the same. "Not much happened after Christmas. Tim and Rose were away for a time and they broke up. Meanwhile I got to meet Supergirl and... found out a few things about Krypton. Some cool. Some not cool. Oh, and Phoebe was kidnapped and we rescue her from a bunch of assholes that wanted to exploit her power and tried to pass as her family. Really crappy stuff. They almost killed her mom."

Hope Summers has posed:
Hope Summers shrugs and smiles, "Yeah, guess I'm always rushing headlong into things..Sorry about that."she leans back against the sofa, hugging her arms loosely, "Just makes me mad that we can't catch these bad guys before they make their next move, but.."

Hope frowns a bit, watching him thoughtfully, nodding slowly as he talks about her team mates, "Wow, I really missed a lot..Sorry to hear about Phoebe, that's gotta be harsh..I guess that's why we're being especially careful of her lately. Poor girl.."

She leans forwards a bit in her seat, peering at him with a faint smile. "And how have you been, Conner? Are you..Seeing anyone new?"

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner groans, leaning back and running a hand through his hair. That is a question Hope really shouldn't ask. Blunt as usual. "I am... well. No. Not like I was 'seeing' you. To be honest, the last month or so, I am not even going to the usual college stuff. Too busy for parties. This..." he gestures to the clips. "This is my priority, really."

Hope Summers has posed:
Hope Summers frowns softly as she listens, and maybe she feels a bit guilty for the part she played. Breaking up is never easy, especially for the high action dangerous crazy life that they live. And this was her idea, afterall..Honestly it seemed a good idea at the time.

"Oh. I'm sorry. I thought it was for the best. I didn't think I'd return from such an intense Xmen mission for at least half a year, figured it wasn't fair on you to wait.." she sighs, reaching out to grab the cold coffee, but makes a face, "Yikes, how long have I been out, anyway?"

When the clips are noted, Hope glances between them and him and laughs a bit, shaking her head. "I mean really, what *are* we doing? We only get to be young once..Maybe it's time we took it easy, just for one night..We deserve a break, once in a while dont you think?"

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner shakes his head. They were together like three or four weeks. It was short but intense. Hope was/is always intense. "Well. You knew what you wanted. You always do, hmm?" He stands up, "that was one of the things I found so hot about you. Never hesitating and never afraid." And then she mentions a 'break'.

"A break? You? Who are you and what have you done with the real Hope?" He asks with a smirk. "I do need a break, finals are over and my brain is pulp. But maybe we should go out to patrol and see if the cool evening air clears my head."

Hope Summers has posed:
Hope Summers smiles. She's definitely extreme and intense. And that short time may be nothing but a passing fancy to someone else but just maybe Hope took it more seriously than that. She also climbs to her feet, stepping up to him, perhaps a bit too close for comfort as she looks at him with a thoughtful smile.

"Yeah, I know what I want. I missed you, you know? It's like, it was too short what happened, between us. Maybe it's not too late to try again?" she may be rushing things, but..

The idea of a patrol does get her chuckling. "We could..Or you know, we could check out a night club or something, do something fun for a change. Hey, you got through midterms, isn't that a cause for celebration?"

Conner Kent has posed:
It was too short? Truth is whirlwind romances are not rare at their age. "Missed you too, Red," he admits, letting her come 'too close'. "But you have your way of being. Which involves running to put down fires and trying to save the world all the time. And... yeah, we do that. But you actually have plans and plots in your head."

Just like Tim, now he thinks about it. Only Hope does it faster.

But that is part of her charm, too. "A club, uh? How many times have you been in a club anyway? I do have fun often. You are the girl that is all work, work, plan. Well, Laura and you. And..." he shuts up. Most of the girls in the Outsiders are all work and no fun!

Hope Summers has posed:
Hope Summers hmms, biting her lip as she considers things. Lots of things. Heck, she's too young to be a soldier, a hero, and a messiah all at the same time. But hey, life really is short. She smiles, tilting her head a little.

"Ooh, you know, I don't think I ever had the time between all the serious stuff, but..Honestly I've walked by, seen the line ups, heard the music. It really does look like a lot of fun. I'd really like to check one out sometime soon you know? At least before things get hectic again, you know?"

Conner Kent has posed:
"Seriously?" Conner did take her to one club in Hawaii, but it was brief. He is not terribly surprised she has not tried again. He is a bit surprised she wants him take her to one now.

Balancing duty and fun seems one of the main problems of heroic folks, but in Hope's case he suspects she actually never had a choice. "I guess it is my duty to take you dancing a few times. Hmm, do you need to change clothes?"

Hope Summers has posed:
Hope Summers smiles and nods, "Yeah, really! I mean I know we went to one briefly in Hawaii, and it was fun but you know, work is work and I really haven't had time to go again. But this time, I just wanna enjoy life a little, so..Why not?""

She looks down at her crumpled and sweaty clothes. She'd been ready to hit the sack and was already in some shabby home clothes. "Sure, although I don't really have any super fancy clothes.."

Conner Kent has posed:
"That is okay," replies Conner. "Grab some jeans or whatever. I need a shower. Pick you up at your room in twenty?" Wait, what club? Gotham is weird with those. Maybe he should take Hope to New York instead.

He has the vague impression he is making a mistake, but right now he is not sure why. Probably it will become obvious in the morning. But whatever. He is going out with Hope to a club and just spend a few mindless hours. What could go wrong?
