Everything's exciting with 'Of Doom' attached to the end of it
Date of Scene: 20 July 2021
Location: Coffee of DOOM
Synopsis: In a crowded coffee shop, a kitsune is offered up a chair.
Cast of Characters: Joan Wright, Saeko

Joan Wright has posed:
With Coffee of Doom's close proximity to Consulates and the like, this establishment keeps busy. Be it the high end decor of the place or folks just wanting to maintain the appearance of being supportive, it's a good spot. But honestly most people come here for the coffee.

No matter the reason, Coffee of Doom is once again packed making open seats a rare thing. It is by sheer luck that Joan managed to get ahold of a small table herself, leaving just the empty seat before her vacant. Before her, lo! It is not coffee, but hot chocolate. In summer? Yes. But. Why? Because it is Damn good Cocoa!

...of Doom.

Saeko has posed:
There were a lot of good things in the mortal realms, variety not shaped by one tradition, mortals themselves living fun and exciting lives... and chocolate. For all their divine knowledge? Chocolate wasn't something the Amatsu-kami had in their home plane.

Clearly an oversight, because Saeko had quickly found on her trips to Earth that it was absolutely delicious!

While a simple application of her abilities had changed her form, hiding her tail and ears as she stepped into the cafe, the kitsune still carries her usual unearthly beauty about her...that and apparently a single-mindedness as she made her way to the counter. Doom or not, this place smelt delicious and soon enough she was placing an order for the same beverage that sat before Joan.

Joan Wright has posed:
No stranger to persons with multiple fox tails, the illusion is not necessary for Joan's sake. But likely very much needed for those that are not Joan. Picking up her cup, Joan sips, simply people watching for the time being. It's not often she gets to take things slow so darn it all, she's going to enjoy the activity now.

Saeko's entrance is a bit different than others. Not necessarily beauty, but the poise is different. Someone from one of the nearby consulates perhaps?

Saeko has posed:
Close enough, certainly the attire she'd chosen for her guise, a simple pencil skirt and white button-up shirt under a jacket painted the guise of someone official or at least attached to one of the offices around the district.

Drink retrieved, the woman turns with a pause, clearly intending to find herself a seat....but options were a little lacking in tight quarters at the moment.

Joan Wright has posed:
How fortunate that Joan happened to be looking over Saeko's way when the Kitsune discovered a new problem. When she thinks the woman's looking her way, the Damage Control employee smiles, gesturing to the empty seat in front of her. The lady appears by herself so she should be easy to accommodate.

Saeko has posed:
It's an offer taken, Saeko moving herself over with her mug cupped in both hands. Nudging her chair back a little with her hip before reaching to scoot it back properly she sits, exhaling lightly and offering the other woman a smile.

"Thank you, this place seems to be quite popular today!"

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan nods, lifting up her cup of cocoa. "This place is really popular during the weekdays." She agrees, "It's very hard to get a table during the busy hours." She takes a sip, lowering the cup to the table, "I think a number of the people here right now probably work for government groups."

Saeko has posed:
A soft chuckle, the dark-haired kitsune-in-disguise shrugs her shoulders. "Almost everybody answers to somebody, but it is good to take a break and enjoy yourself when you can, even if the indulgence is simply the warmth of a good drink."

Joan Wright has posed:
"Oh and they do have a delicious hot cocoa here." Joan agrees, "You get some odd looks ordering it in the summer time. But, it's just so good."

The smile on her face is directed down to her cup. "It's also nice to take your time drinking and not having to rush to the next work related thing."

Saeko has posed:
"Isn't the point of enjoyment to...well, have something that brings you joy? And chocolate brings plenty of joy!"

The woman pauses, lazily fishing a marshmellow from her mug and popping it into her mouth with a smile of slightly puffed cheeks.

"These are not bad either!"

Joan Wright has posed:
"Yes. It is hard to go wrong with chocolate. And while I don't like marshmallows by themselves I do like them in the cocoa." Joan pauses, looking to the puffed faced woman in front of her. "Are you from one of the consolates nearby?"

Saeko has posed:
A smile, Saeko lifts a hand in a vague 'sort of' motion. "I am...what you would call a consultant. I am called in to help improve outcomes and help with prosperity for projects of my clients."

Kitsune spirits summed up in business speak, but she wasn't actually lying!

"What about yourself? You do not seem to be a Latvarian, but I am still learning a lot about some of the cultures here."

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan shakes her head. "Not a Latvarian." She confirms. "I'm American. But I'm an architect who works with an emergency construction firm." She gestures to the ornate decor. "Along with the barista cats, I also have an appreciation for the building touches they did with the shop."

Saeko has posed:
A little chuckle from Saeko, the kitsune nods her head lightly and takes another small sip of her drink. "It is certainly a little bit ornate, I suppose that it's worth the finery for people around here." A sip, the woman tilts her head to the side. "Emergency construction though? The repairs after some of the battle that occur in this city?"

Joan Wright has posed:
Saeko's rewarded with a nod, "Yes. We work to cut down the amount of time it takes to get things back the way they were before the damage occurred." Joan glances to the cup, "We can't really do anything for those who may have gotten hurt during the initial incident. But we can at least assure there's less of the other stuff to worry about afterwards."

Saeko has posed:
"I have seen some of that devestation up close, between the monsters and villains that are out there have...destructive appetites." A little shift of her head, the fox woman frowns a little. "There are many heroes that try to offer their aid, but ensuring no damage at all is...well, impossible I imagine."

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan nods, "Very few people can be of help both during and after. It's great when they can minimize the damage. But yes. we come in when the fighting is done to pick up the pieces." She gives a tilt of her head, voice having a bit of an uptilt despite the talk of monsters and villain, "You just do what you can to help."

Saeko has posed:
"It is tricky," Saeko muses softly, one hand coming to rest at her cheek while she tilts her head to the side. "Not all who need help as for it, not everyone gets the attention they deserved...but it is quite fullfilling when you can offer aid and see people flourish after enduring hardship."

Certainly, Saeko knew that quite literally. There were rules the Tenko had to follow when offering her blessings.

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan nods. "A group of us also participate in Habitat for Humanity projects in our offtime so there's a bit of balance in there." She offers up. She grows quiet for a moment, looking back to Saeko, "You said you were a consultant for improving outcomes? Like an analyst?"

Saeko has posed:
"A good enough term for it, yes," Saeko offers back as topic shifts to her, a little sip of her drink. "I offer my insight and input to help things improve. It is a lot of listening and thinking, then applying a little change here and there. Some people ask for the moon, but you'd be suprised by what can happen with simply small adjustments at the right point."

Joan Wright has posed:
"Ok..." Joan lifts up her cup, "What's the most interesting thing you had to improve?" As she lobs the conversation ball over to Saeko, she takes a sip of her drink.

Saeko has posed:
Ah-hah, this was almost a game unto itself. How to answer without an answer? The woman grins to the challenge, although it might simply be taken for the fondness. "There was a lab with technologies I had never seen before, the sorts of things that would probably be taken for magic. Perhaps it is magic, just magic someone understands. But anyway, the creator of these technologies was having...creative problems, frustrations and despair that was hurting their ability to do their calling."

Another sip, she smiles lightly, perhaps more genuinely. "I helped him find some perspective."

Joan Wright has posed:
Joan tilts her head considering the description, "So, you act more like a muse? Or a life coach?"

Saeko has posed:
"Sometimes, it's a little bit of an analyst, a little bit of a counciller and a little bit of a sounding board. Perhaps I'm just good luck?" the fox offers, giving a little wink before she exhales a breath, stretching her arms over her head. Her drink was gone, marshmellows devoured...and now she made to stand.

"It was a pleasure talking with you my friend," she offers, an introduction never actually having been made, but the Kitsune was unfazed by such. Instead she lightly shifts to offer a little fond pat on the other woman's shoulder as she made to leave. "I wish you luck with your efforts to help those in need."

Then with that and not a word more, the Tenko was headed out the door!
