Date of Scene: 05 October 2021
Location: Location
Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: Mina Murray, Otto Octavius

Mina Murray has posed:
Mina Murray likes to keep tabs on prominent figures in the scientific community, as something of a professional courtesy. It's also good to maintain a professional network, just in case she should require expertise outside of her own, general knowledge. And when prominent scientists wake from a coma, massacre their way out of the hospital, and flee into the night, the case crosses the line from professional curiosity into homocide investigation.

After doing a little research into the scientist in question, Mina begins to narrow down the obvious possible locations where Dr. Octavius might choose to take up residence. From the photos, it's not like he can hide very well. The general trail of bodies and debris was initially erratic, but less obvious clues were dropped in a fairly specific direction.

"How curious." Mina said to herself as she got closer. The abandoned underground subway terminal had been repurposed by her own League a few decades ago. While the League (as she knew it) is officially disbanded, no doubt there remain facilities that could be useful.

Otto Octavius has posed:
He /has/ disappeared into the night... and seems to be able to blend in enough that only a dedicated investigation caught him here. That being said, Mina probably knows this abandoned lab well enough to pick out the signs of forced entry; that tunnel vent practically brute forced back into place instead of being kept closed by nuts, for example. Easy enough for Otto to try to blend in... but for Mina, she /knows/ that vent was well maintained before maintenance stopped.

Indeed, looking inside, it's clear that pincers from Otto's tentacles were used to pull the man through the vent. A quick and useful tactic... but anyone who looks inside can easily follow his trail.

Mina Murray has posed:
A dedicated investigator, yes, but Mina is also one who knew of this particular hidden lab. The signs are unmistakeable to her, of course. The condition of the vent, the damage from the tentacle pincers, make it easy for someone to follow. Especially someone who knows what to look for.

Mina usually keeps a pair of combat knives and a .445 caliber Webley Bulldog on her at all times, and tonight is no exception. She makes sure that all of the weapons are well and duly stashed, however. Neither would be of much use against the mechanical arms.

With her modified physique, Mina can see quite well in the dark. She slips out into the lab as quietly as she can, sneaking without SEEMING to be sneaking. At least until she can see what is happening.

Otto Octavius has posed:
Once inside, Mina gets treated to the sounds of multiple things happening at once... and soon, four titanium alloy arms can seen moving around the room as Otto start making a pile of documents and equipment to sort through. His own goggled eyes already reading from a table in front of himself.

Mina Murray has posed:
Ah. Yes. As she suspected, of course. Mina makes no trouble to hide the sounds of booted footsteps on the antique tile floor. Hands are clasped behind her back, and while she's (mostly) suppressed her native, Victorian-England accent there are certain mannerisms that have remained. "Doctor Octavious, I presume? I do like what you've done with the place."

Otto Octavius has posed:
One of the tentacles turns, and a red 'eye' peers at her as the pincer opens to allow vision. Otto himself simply continues to read through the documents.

"I see my reputation precedes me. Otto Octavius was a fool who allowed lesser minds to claim his work. You may call me Doctor Octopus now. I've left Oscorp and Norman's idiocy behind."

Mina Murray has posed:
Mina Murray keeps her attention on the doctor, sparing but a glance to the curious tentacle with its red eye. "Your reputation, yes, as well as the significant media attention." she replies. And the trail of bodies and debris, but she doesn't bring those up. "Mina Murray. I've followed your work for some time, but we've never had the pleasure." All the while her footsteps carry her slowly into the chamber, while keeping at a respectful distance.

Otto Octavius has posed:
"When fools decide to chop off my limbs without even consulting me, they deserve what they get in self-defense." Otto informs her with comtempt in his voice. "I think they were trying to remove the harness. A serious mistake now that they're fused to me."

Otto stops going through papers and turns towards Mina finally... his eyes hidden behind his safety goggles. His tentacles keep idle around him as they turn with him naturally, "I vaguely recall that name from somewhere..." Otto muses... "Probably from a conference. You'll have to forgive me, my memory is not what it used to be since I woke up."

Mina Murray has posed:
Mina Murray keeps both hands clasped behind her back as she slowly paces inside. She clucks her tongue, head shaking as well. "It's amazing what stupid things people who call themselves 'learned' are capable of doing." Pausing, the woman tilts her head. "Stupid and rude."

"Yes. Quite likely a conference." Mina agrees, deftly avoiding the potential conversation about horror novels and Transylvanian monsters. "And I completely understand. You are recovering well, I trust?"

Otto Octavius has posed:
"I am as well as can be expected after having woken up from a coma for a year. I'm still cateloguing potwntial problems." Otto narrows his eyes now, "So, Miss Murray. Is this your lab?"

Mina Murray has posed:
Mina Murray tilts her head a little at the question, the motion almost a shrug. "It was. A very long time ago." she replies. And although she looks scarecely old enough to be of legal drinking age, there is a certain confidence and maturity in the way she carries herself.

"That seems like a different life to be now." she replies. Before the League disbanded. Before the LSD and the bats. Before decades in the asylum.

Otto Octavius has posed:
"That would explain your presence here. I've been searching the city for potential resources and information for my project." Otto glances to one side, to one of the older desks, "I don't get the impression I'll find anything useful, but organizing is a good idea in itself." Otto looks back to Mina, "Is there an index of materials here? I assume since you haven't objected you don't mind me doing a search."

Mina Murray has posed:
Mina Murray gestures generally around the lab, palm upward, and offers a small smile. "Be my guest." she replies. "Anything of use was removed decades ago, and I seriously doubt that it would be of any consequence to one such as yourself." The woman takes a few slow, measured steps around the lab, as if remembering.

Otto Octavius has posed:
There's a frustrated sneer in Otto's face. Then, one of the tentacles suddenly wraps around a desk and tosses it with enough force against a wall that it shatters on impact.

"Better to know than to waste my time. Trying to advance science and already encountering blocks." The four tentacles plop down to the ground and Otto lifts into the air as they support his weight. "What is your field?" Otto inquires.

Mina Murray has posed:
Mina Murray's mouth twitches a little at the sneer, the woman keeping eye contact with the violent shattering of the thrown desk. This woman has been Dracula's victim and has seen Mr. Hyde at his worst. She does take a few steps away from the debris, however.

"My field? Oh, I consider myself a generalist, actually, dabbling here and there as interest and opportunity permits." The slow, measured steps resume. "I have had some inordinant exposure to the occult, if anything, although I am no practicioner of the occult arts."
