Character Info
Profile
A brilliant scientist counted among the best minds in the world, Otto Octavius has spent
his life working to better himself and humanity through Science. His specialty is nuclear physics,
but he is always self-learning. Improving.
Then, a series of unfortunate events led to what should have been a lethal accident. Instead, it has
left Otto permanently damaged and changed.
Now, boundaries and *ethics* are no longer a concern for him. Now, he is the epitome of a mad
scientist, seeking to prove his intellectual superiority over everyone in the world... with most of
his time now dedicated to find ways to improve Science his way... or to rule the world for it's own
good.
Timeline
Timeline:
1983: Born to Torbert and Mary Octavius in New York. Otto's early years would be filled with
contradictory messages from both; his father advocating for a violent solution to most problems...
while he was the target of his father's rages. Beaten at home /and/ at school, Torbert would earn
Otto's burning hatred during this time... his only solace being when his mother managed to calm his
father.
1998: Torbert dies in a construction accident. During the funeral, Mary would tell
Otto that an early death is the fate of a manual laborer, and she expected better of Otto. This
moment is a formative one for Otto... who becomes obsessed with becoming the best scientist the
world has ever seen.
2002: Accepted into MIT, Otto pursues a number of fields in his first
month... before deciding to major in nuclear physics. He also decides to pursue multiple minors in
various other fields at the same time... and manages to graduate at the top of his class for nuclear
physics and in robotics and biochemistry. He weould go on to begin self-teaching himself other
subjects from this point forward... never stopping studying.
2007: Having graduated, Otto is
headhunted by multiple corporations and government agencies. Choosing between the US Atomic Research
Center and Oscorp, Otto chooses Oscorp, more interested in improving existing nuclear power
generation than in making weapons for the military.
2008: Having spent the better part of a
year learning the Oscorp style of operations, Otto gets fed up with current safety regulations and
takes it upon himself to invent and build a nearly indestructible set of tentacles designed for
hostile conditions. He builds them into a harness designed for himself to be fitted to his chest...
and a neural interface designed for brain and spinal column use. No one else wants to chance the
device... and using it earns his the nickname Doctor Octopus from his colleagues.
2020: After
spending years on projects and self-teaching, Otto is considered the foremost expert on nuclear
projects and applications in the world. He has also mastered the use of his uniquely designed
tentacle harness. Over the years, he had grown close to and fallen in love with Mary Anders; a
fellow scientist. Eventually deciding to propose to her, Mary accepted. However, when Otto tells his
mother the news, the two get into a serious argument, with his mother completely against the
engagement... and accusing him to turning his back on her. Shocked and depressed, Otto breaks off
the engagement... only to find out his mother was dating without telling him. The news has Otto blow
up in a rage at her, and the argument leads to his mother having a heart attack. Consumed with guilt
and considered his mothers death his fault, faulty safety equipment and mislabelled chemicals at the
research center causes a momentary distraction to turn into a near meltdown of the reactor Otto was
working on. Sealed inside the main chamber as a result of the safety lockdown, Otto is bathed in
various chemicals at the same time he is at ground zero of the near-meltdown. Instead of dying
though... his body manages to survive, the chemicals being the catalyst for his body to metaboliZe
the radiation, mutating his body and damaging his brain irreversibly. He falls into a coma as his
body heals itself.
2021: Otto wakes up after a year in a coma, his tentacle harness now
irrevokably tied into his nervous system, and his brain irreversibly damaged to the point that Otto
has become a psychopath.

Personality
Ego:
Even before the accident, Otto was a prideful man. A result of his abusive upbringing, Otto was
determined to become a famous scientist along the lines of Einstein himself. He was an accomplished
man in science circles, and he made no secret of it... and to be fair to him, he really /is/ a
brilliant man. He is reliably among the top minds on Earth.
Now, Otto has no ethical, moral,
or social boundaries for his science. The ends justify the means in every way... and if you insult
or belittle him in any way... he never forgets. Or forgives. There is no such thing as too much
retaliation to prove his intelectual superiority over his rivals, competition, and
enemies.
For him, Science is everything. People are simply a means to that end. What was once
an effort to improve the human condition has become a drive to prove to all he is the best in the
world.

Powers
Genius:
Among the top intellectual elite of Earth, Otto has few peers for brilliance. A top tier
inventor and a quick learner, Otto is learning new techniques and fields all the time.
Mutltasking:
Otto has a brilliant mind, and in his time working for Oscorp he has learned how to 'segregate'
his concontration for multiple tasks at once. He can use his tentacles to fight multiple people with
ease with this... or anything else, for that matter.
Skills
Science:
Otto is one of the greatest scientists of his generation. Considered the foremost expert in
nuclear physics in the world currently, Otto is also highly skilled in engineering, robotics,
electronics, computers, biochemistry, general chemistry and medicine.
Strategist:
Otto is a natural tactician and strategist, able to predict with uncanny accuracy how people
will react to actions... or how to setup actions in a way that improves upon his agenda. If he ever
joined a military, he would be a very effective general.
Tentacle Fighting:
Otto has used his tentacle harness for years before the accident that left it permanently fused
to his nervous system, and is a master at controlling them on one or multiple tasks. He has not,
however, spent much time in combat with them, despite being a natural.
Resources
Savings:
Otto has saved up quite a bit of money from his days as an Oscorp researcher. Enough to live
comfortable off grid for years for himself.
Tentacle Harness:
This set of four high-tensile tentacles is halfway to indestructible, able to handle extremely
high temperatures, highly durable and extremely strong. Each tentacle is able to effortlessly handle
up to eight tons each, rounding out to around twenty four if Otto uses one as an
anchor.
Powered by a mini-nuclear reactor of Otto's design, the harness will remained powered
until the energy core is replaced every five years.
Each tentacle is telescopic by design,
able to retract enough to fit under Otto's overcoat... or telescope out to around twenty four feet.
He can use these tentacles naturally for any purpose he desires, from fighting to traveling to
manipulating objects and the atmosphere using them as fans.
The accident has also rewired his
nervous system and mutated his body to the point he can 'feel' and 'see' through his tentacles, if
he chooses. This can be toggled on and off.
Weaknesses
Arrogance:
Otto is a brilliant inventor, a cunning strategist and a force to be reckoned with in combat
with his tentacles... but he has always been arrogant, believing himself to be the best person in
the world to lead humanity. After the accident, he has no ethical boundaries towards this goal
either... and always believes he is right.
Human:
Otto is a metahuman, only barely. His power is limited to his arms. Otherwise, he is just a very
intelligent man.
Psychotic:
Otto used to be well balanced, if with an edge, mentally. His moral center was good.
Now,
with the accident having damaged his brain, Otto has no issue at all with causing death and
destruction in the name of his own version of the greater good, feeling nothing for causing pain,
death, or torture.
