Random Tech Help
Date of Scene: 08 October 2021
Location: Central Park
Synopsis: A couple strangers spend a few minutes getting to know each other in the park.
Cast of Characters: Susan Sullivan, Lara Croft

Susan Sullivan has posed:
People had largely moved on from the park. Most people knew better. Most people were afraid of muggers. Most people wouldn't take a drone there and mess with it with tiny screwdrivers trying to fix it. Most people were not Demona. She was not wearing her usual gas mask, and had her sharp, pointed ears on display, as well as her pale, translucent skin and her sharp teeth. She did not look like someone people should mess with. The woman made the drone fly up, it flipped over, it started accelerating toward the ground, and she thrust out her hand. The blades whirred, but the drone stopped. She cut the power and did something to the drone, then started the process all over again.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara doesn't fear muggers. She's a capable grappler and has had more experience in such things than most people. Plus she only jogs in the busy part sof the park. She's here now, in black and white jogging clothing with a loose tee over her black and white top, matching black and white leggings. Her hair is tied back in a loose pony and she's got a pair of earbuds in playing music from her phone.

She doesn't notice Demona as in its a busy evening in most of the park... she's just jogging along... until her music cuts out.

The British noblewoman stops in her tracks and moves in a circle as she lifts her phone off her hip and starts to mutter as she tries to get the damn thing to turn on. She even can be heard muttering. "Damnit..."

Susan Sullivan has posed:
Demona turns, looking toward the British accent. Concern is painted on her face as she takes a hesitant step. "Everything alright, miss?" she asks.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara pulls her earbuds from her ears and looks to the woman who speaks up to her. She comes to a stop on her white jogging shoes and just offers a faint smile. "I don't know." She says as she glances down at her phone. "It just stopped playing the music. It doesn't want to start up again. I suppose I should just refresh it..." She sighs heavily. "Maybe its time for a new one. These things supposedly die off immediately after all, right?"

Susan Sullivan has posed:
"I can look at it for you, if you want," the nosferatu-lookin' woman says. "If it's a software problem, I'm probably not going to be of help, but I might be able to help if a connection's come loose."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara looks up from her phone again and considers the offer. Is this person a mugger? Does she care? This phone isn't even her work phone, its literally just one she uses for music and media searches online. If its stolen its not a big deal! "Sure, that's fine." Lara says then as she walks toward the other and offers it to her. "I suppose it could be my earbuds too. They were a gift from a friend." She says with a soft smile as she looks the lady over a bit more now that they're closer together.

Susan Sullivan has posed:
Demona's face has the curves of a beautiful bone structure, but she's been twisted by cruel fate. Given her open display of telekinesis earlier, it's at least possible she's a mutant. She takes the phone and earbuds. She moves to a grassy area and sits down. Closing her eyes, she holds the phone between her hands. She looks very much like she's entering a meditative state as she calmly considers the device. While she's doing so, she asks, "Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara just observes this behavior as she trails after the other woman. Her hands go to her hips. She pauses when watching the woman do that meditative state with her device and just shows a sly grin at the question. She shakes her head side to side then. "I haven't yet. No. You caught me at the very beginning of the technical issue." She huffs another little laugh. "A few minutes later I would've either restarted it and been on my way... or just... thrown it in the trash. I don't know." The Briton says before smirking then. "You're a mutant, I assume?" She asks tentatively

Susan Sullivan has posed:
"That's a good guess," Demona says. She opens her eyes and holds down the power button, starting the phone on a reboot cycle. "I normally hide my face, but people get a little weird after dark, so I make myself a less appealing target by being open about my looks." She furrows her brow as the screen turns back on, displaying the manufacturer's logo. "Are you a mutant?" she asks.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara shows another soft smile at the first response before she watches and shakes her head at the last. "Technically everyone is a mutant. All of our genetics mutate after all. But... that's the nerdy, and annoying, response." She grins quickly before she drops her hands to her sides and raises her palms up to press them together as the phone restarts. "I'm just a person, normal, ish... Obviously not from around here, if you hadn't noticed already." She purses her lips and glances away for a moment. When she looks back down to the seated Demona she speaks again. "I moved here for work, is all. I work with SHIELD>"

Susan Sullivan has posed:
Demona purses her lips, a little difficult to do with fangs, and huffs out a breath through her nose. "I feel like I should know SHIELD. Should I know SHIELD? I'm sorry, I spent the last seven years in China doing martial arts and yoga in a monastery."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara breathes out a quick huff from her small nose. She shakes her head side to side then. "If that's the case, then no. You shouldn't know SHIELD. But you may hear a bit about them more now that you're in New York. This city... deals with a lot of unusual things, compared to what you may be used to, coming from such a serene location as ... well, yes, as you described." She nods down to the seated woman then. "I'm Lara, by the way. Croft."

Susan Sullivan has posed:
Demona is suddenly on her feet, simply standing from where she was without hardly any effort. Her eyes go wide as she does so. "Lara Croft?" she asks. "I thought I recognized you. You were on the cover of that magazine. I forget which one. Something scientific or archaeological or something." She hunches slightly as she offers the phone back, a posture of embarrassment coming over her. "I'm sorry. You're trying to do introductions. My name's Demona."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara draws in a breath then as she watches the woman stand and hears that response. She nods her head two small times. "I've been... on several. Not that I want to be on any really. But being from the position I'm from, it's something mostly unavoidable." She smirks quickly again. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Demona." Lara states then as she offers the woman a hand to shake should she so desire to.

Susan Sullivan has posed:
Demona puts the phone into Lara's outstretched hand. "Try them, now, Lara," she says. "See if that did it."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara accepts the phone and buds back to place them in to her ears. She looks down at her phone then and as she sweeps her loose hair back behind said ears she brings up her music service. She gets a song playing and when it comes on she smiles and looks back to the woman. "Seems to be good." She says brightly. "Thank you."

Susan Sullivan has posed:
"You're most welcome! I'm glad I could help!" Demona says. "Maybe I'll see you around, Lara!"

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara takes a moment to offer the woman her phone number and tells her she'd love to talk about that time in Asia more sometime. She excuses herself then to get back to the jog, turning and getting back on the pathway as she starts to bounce along her way, pony tail bobbing around behind her shoulders once more.
