Date of Scene: 01 November 2021
Location: Brighton Beach
Synopsis: Megan tries to cheer up a grumpy Daniel on Halloween night.
Cast of Characters: Megan Gwynn, Daniel Ketch

Megan Gwynn has posed:
The beach is usually pretty popular during the day, and even into the autumn season it can still be fairly warm. But tonight it's pretty chilly, and pretty dark..Not to mention Halloween..Which makes this place a bit spookier than normal. But of course after a little skirmish at a spooky haunted house last night, Megan just wanted somewhere night and quiet to relax, and so she wandered down to the beach to relax and get some peace and quiet. Because even a hyperactive sugar fairy occasionally needs a little peace and quiet. She's still dressed in her Halloween costume, some sort of cute pink glittery dress with butterfly antennae and with her natural pink gaur and gossamer wings, at least she blends in better with other Halloween costumes tonight.

Daniel Ketch has posed:
Halloween is not a fun time for Daniel Ketch. It was Halloween four years ago the Ghost Rider intruded in his life for the first time. A Halloween night his sister was injured, and a few days later murdered in the hospital.

Definitely not up for parties, he has come here to drink alone, away from people and anything that could provoke the Rider to show up. The motorcycle headlights cut through the not-too-dark night. Indeed, given the city lights, barely any star can be seen in the sky.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
It is pretty dark here, without a lot of lights. most people aren't going to swim in the cold and dark afterall. She really shouldn't be here though, not after all those horrifying ghostly images stuck in her mind, haunted her dreams, but for once she didn't want to be surrounded by lots of people either.

So here she is, guided oddly enough by the faint glitter of her own luminescent wings. Were they done fancy electronic gizmos? real magic? who knows. she's never been very subtle about things either way.
She does notice the motorcycle lights however, but pays little attention. Surely if she leaves him alone he'll leave her alone right?

She hums a soft upbeat tune, a welsh sailor's song as she walks along the shoreline, peering out into the dark and quiet sea. Music always perked her right up..

Daniel Ketch has posed:
Daniel is not going to get distracted from his brooding just by anyone. He would have ignored almost any woman, even if she was singing. But a winged, singing girl that glows in the dark is just too difficult to ignore.

And he is pretty sure he has not drank enough to have hallucinations (yet!).

So, for a few seconds Megan finds herself facing the rather blinding light of the motorcycle headlights. Then he turns off the engine and kills the lights. It takes a couple seconds to get used to the darkness again. "Hey," he greets hesitantly. "You aren't from around here, are you?"

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn really is a bit far from West Chester County, but she'd also used to just popping in wherever she wants, whenever she wants, so she doesn't really think too much about where she is.

"Me? Oh..I suppose not, no.." she's glad that he turned off the lights at least, it's little less intimidating. And at least he's not transparent like those horrifying ghosties who swarmed her last night.

She offers him a pleasant smile as she looks him up and down. Really you never know who you can trust around here, but if you look cute and innocent they're more likely to underestimate you.

"Oh yeah, happy Halloween! Is that your costume?" she nods to his not so costumey looking attire and giggles. someone forgot to tell her that costumes are for kids. "Ooh that's a cool looking bike. Lights a bit bright though."

Yeah, her eyes are still a bit dazzled by those but she's too polite to say so outright.

Daniel Ketch has posed:
"I am not wearing a costume, and it is not a happy Halloween," grumbles Daniel. It is a cool bike, though, so he lets that one pass. He wouldn't be surprises to know there are fairies in Westchester, because lately he is rarely surprised by any crazy thing that happens.

He sighs, looking away. He realizes he sounds a bit as a jerk, and stops. "Anyway. You probably shouldn't be here alone. All kind of weird people gets out in Halloween."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn blinks in surprise at his grumpiness and shakes her head. "Oh no, I'm sorry you're not having a good day. I hope tomorrow is better at least?" she shrugs and smiles, "Oh I'll be okay, I'm tougher than I look you know, besides after last night, I'd like to be somewhere calm and quiet." she shivers, from the cold or something else? hard to say..

Daniel Ketch has posed:
"Yeah, maybe," replies Daniel. Tomorrow might be better because it is not Halloween, but good days are not likely. "You don't look tough at all, so that I have to believe." He climbs off the seat and sets down the leg stand. It seems unlikely the bike would keep upright in the sand, but somehow it does.

"Well, sorry to have interrupted you stroll," he offers, semi-apologizing. "Girls with glowing girls tend to catch my attention even when I am trying to avoid people," he takes a few steps away, pulling a flask from a pocket. "I am going to stay here for a bit."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn giggles and shrugs, "Most people think that, just cuz I look all cute and innocent...Maybe I am, hmm?" she smiles sweetly, but there's an impish gleam in her eyes.

She smiles and shrugs at the apology, "Oh, no worries, it's a big beach, plenty of room for all." The girl winks playfully as she speaks, hands clasped innocently behind her back. " Well I hope my glowy fairy wings don't scare you!"

Daniel Ketch has posed:
"What? No," Daniel smirks for a second, much to his chagrin. "You are the least scary person I have met in a while, wings and all," he sips from the flask once, then takes a new look at Megan. This time with far less light. "Or maybe you are scary. Faeries could be pretty horrifying in the old stories. But I just don't care either way."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn pouts, "Oh. Well. That's no fun..Guess I'll have to think of something a bit more horrifying next year then, hmm? What should I be, a zombie? Maybe a ghost?" she giggles, "Some people even complimented my costume and gave me some candy in spite of my age, see? Want some?" she holds out some snickers bars to him, smiling still. Seems she's determined to at least get a little smile or chuckle out of him tonight.

Daniel Ketch has posed:
"Sure, undead are a classic," Daniel shrugs. He shakes his head at the candy offer, though. Halloween candy is not going to feel right to him. "Sorry, Halloween brings me bad memories, I am not going to be a good company tonight, you should look for a party or something. Plenty of those all over the city."

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn pouts a bit. "Ooh, oh no, that sucks. May I ask why?" she shrugs, "I mean, it's a spooky time and underneat the candy and costumes, it can mean something deeper but.." she shrugs, and smiles, "Oh it's okay, you came out here for breathing room. I can give you space.." she backs away, peering around, wondering if she should just head to a party or something. "But, you seem like you could use a sounding board too maybe..?"

Daniel Ketch has posed:
Daniel hrms. "Death in the family," no interest in talking about it with the upbeat girl. "No, not in the mood of a party. I just want to sit here for a bit and think," translation: he is brooding. "Eh? You seem pretty nice. What are the wings about? Are you an alien or a meta?" He looks towards the sea, not seeming very interested in the response. But at least he is trying to keep the conversation running.

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn blinks slowly, "Oh no, that just sucks! On Halloween too? Geez.." she shakes her head, peering out to the sea. "I'm really sorry, for what it's worth." When he comments on her wings, she giggles a bit and shrugs, "Yeaah, something like that. I'm part faerie, part mutant. Cool, huh?"

Daniel Ketch has posed:
Daniel shrugs, sipping again from his flask. "Not sure if it is a good time to be a mutant in America. Or maybe this is just not a good place to be a mutant," not sure if it is 'pretty cool' or not. "And thanks, but well, it was four years ago. Bad things happening for no reason, I guess. Halloween is ruined for me forever, but not for you. Go have fun for both of us, okay?"

Megan Gwynn has posed:
Megan Gwynn sighs and nods. "Oh, I know..It's pretty tough being a mutant in general. Being a mutant faerie is even tougher." she shrugs. "But I make do, silver lining and all." as for bad things happenning, she shrugs and smiles, "Oh, I know a little about that. My dad died in a mining accident when I was really young. Sure, sometimes bad things just happen. It sucks and there's nothing you can do, but learn from them if you can, and treasure the time you had with them."

Daniel Ketch has posed:
Daniel rolls his eyes at the advice. Sounds like fortune cookie wisdom to him. "What did you learn? Not to become a miner? My twin sister had her throat torn out by a super-criminal while she was helpless in the hospital. What can I learn from that?"

He is frowning, obviously angry and trying to restrain himself. "Look, I know you are trying, but you don't know me and you really have no idea who I am. Please, leave me alone."
