Cast of Characters: Mary Bromfield, Kaida Connolly

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Titan's Tower! Bastion of justice...symbol of hope...headquarters of some of the greatest heroes known...

"...FATRAT..."
And, in a pinch, study hall.
Mary Bromfield stared at the text on the page of a book titled PHLEBOTOMY FOR NURSES AND NURSINGT PERSONNEL, as if trying to will it into somehow imprinting on her brain. This is first-year stuff, so she needs to know this.

She took a sip of Dr. Pepper and exhaled sharply.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
There's an audible gasp and freshly hopped up on to the table is a tiny mouse girl named Kaida who is looking at herself and then looking back to Mary before she stomps toward her and waggles a finger.

"I'll have you know that I am no rat and I am quite svelte!" she nods her head and gestures at herself, turning this way and then that before putting her hands on her hips and letting out a long puff of huff at Mary.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary blinked and looked at Kaida. It took her a few moments to realize this was the mouse girl that was there when that "Hawk" guy came back and nearly had a snit fit. She still wondered if it would have been better if Mary Marvel had showed up, but hindsight being 20/20...

"Oh! Sorry, I didn't mean YOU. It's just I'm trying not to be a potty-mouth. I didn't mean to offend. You're...Kaida, right? I was the girl who was hiding behind Donna."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A grin and she nods her head, "Oh, well, that's fine then! I may just be a mouse girl but I got pride, gosh darn it!" She declares and puts her hands on her hips before she casually sits down near Mary's end of the table and pulls out a fun size snickers from her bag. She peels it open and looks at the books before looking up to Mary.

"Studying medical stuff?" She asks, glancing about briefly.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary nods. "Superpowers only get you so far. Education gets you a lot farther. Besides...the powers are on loan. Learning to become a nurse...that's MINE. And no one can take it away from me. And I think Mary Bromfield has a lot to offer, too."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
"Oh! On loan? I didn't know such a thing was possible though I suppose one could argue that my powers are on loan?" She shrugs and chuckles before she looks down at herself and then back up at Mary.

"That's cool, though! I myself have done a lot of work in biochemistry!" She smiles and nods, "I was working on my degree when, well, this happened." She gestures down at herself.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary peered at Kaida. "Is it impolite to ask what happened? I know some people are a little...private about that sort of thing. Like it was something they rather not share...or because they'd rather not remember. Not everyone gets powers by saying a magic word."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A chuckle and then she shakes her head. She takes a big bite out of her candy, chewing it up and swallowing it before she wraps the top and sets it down.

"Well, I don't really mind. It's an odd situation really! I was an intern while at college at a lab. They were studying effects on various mice of some formula they were working on. It was apparently somehow based on some special mouse they had captured. I tried to figure out if it was right, what kind of mouse it was...when the whole place exploded!" She shoots her hands up above her and spreads them out as she makes a big 'Boom!' sound along with hissing after effect sounds and wiggling tiny fingers.

"And when I woke up..." She gestures at herself, "This."

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary nodded almost sagely...after a moderate pause.
College...lab...explosion...and poof! Suddenly something turns you into Gadget Gearloose's cousin.

"It boggles the mind the lax practices of science these days. I should probably consider this as an aspect of triage. We could call it 'Weird Science'..."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A laugh and then she shrugs, "I can't say for certain that it was 'science's' fault for this scenario. It might have been the mouse's fault. She certainly seemed different." She nods and then shrugs.

"It could have been someone attacking. Someone trying to steal something." She shakes her head and then shrugs as she takes another bite of the bar and chews carefully through a peanut piece even as she speaks, mouth still having candy in it.

"Don' bwame science fo' 'uman error."

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary holds up a finger. "Now, now...I wasn't blaming science. I was blaming careless people who handle Science like they're juggling chainsaws. We need more careful scientists...or we're going to need Weird Science support groups before too long." She sighs. "One of my science classes, we had a bull session about ways people get powers. Some thought Weird Science was the coolest. But then I mentioned having to adjust to having powers you don't know how to control, or even use.:

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A chuckle and Kaida shakes her head, "I see. Yeah, well, still, in this case, there's not enough evidence to speak ill of the dead." She nods her head and frowns, "I'm not saying everyone there died or everyone there was innocent but several who were involved in the experimentations did die." She nods her head and then looks at herself and then up at Mary.

"As for having powers you don't know how to control." She chuckles, "Not sure control was an issue but there's definitly an adjustment period to being very tiny."

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary immediately looks crestfallen. "Oh...I'm sorry. Sometimes I speak before I think." She looks back to her book. "I'm an idiot sometimes." She looks to Kaida again. "What's the biggest change you had to deal with? So to speak..."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A blink as she looks at her and then she smiles, "I thought I made myself clear. I don't do the feel sorry for myself thing or anything like that!" She declares and smiles as she walks up to hop up on to one of Mary's books.

"I work very hard to be the one smiling no matter how bad it gets." She chuckles and nods her head, "Change though? Biggest? Umm, being 6 inches tall."

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary chuckles. "Okay...got it. I thought it might be other things...change in diet, different perspectives, family interactions...Guess it'd be too much to whip up a human suit like in that movie, MEN IN BLACK..."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A laugh and she shakes her head, "I don't think I'd like that. I have never been shy about being myself and this is who I am." SHe nods and points to herself, "I am a mouse and it'd be so strange to hide that inside of some mech suit." She then looks to the side and shakes her head, "And, my mom was dead long before this happened." She smiles and looks to Mary, "My dad kinda, fell into a bottle." She shrugs and shakes her head.

"My disappearance and my father's refusal to believe this is me now didn't help." She sighs and flops down on to her butt, "I can't pretend like things were great before this so...I really don't think this changed much."

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary nods. "Yeah...lost my parents, too. Got adopted by a foster family. Got lucky there." She sits back. "Maybe we can have a mid-study snack? I can tell you about my family. I got some caramel cookies from the Crumbl place." She winks.
