Cast of Characters: Morgan Finn, Gilgamesh

Morgan Finn has posed:
It's an uncharacteristically warm December day. Also, mid-terms are winding down and winter break is almost upon the students of Happy Harbor. So lots of them are outside today, including Morgan. He's walking across the square next to a girl. The two are talking about nothing whatsoever. The conversation is occasionally punctuated with laughs from either or both of the teens. Finally they get near one of the doors. "This is me," the girl says to Morgan. "My last shift in the library before break."

"Good luck," Morgan says with a warm smile. She goes inside and Morgan turns back and starts walking really nowhere in particular. The aimless walk of youth on a sunny day. He says hi to this kid or that on the way through. It's clear he gets along with his peers.

Gilgamesh has posed:
Happy Harbor isn't a terribly hard place to find, especially when you can fly and your phone has GPS. It makes life easy sometimes. Gilgamesh soars over to the high school wearing his gold and black uniform and a big tan backpack. As he arrives he begins to descend to the ground, "Excuse me, does anybody know a kid named Morgan? About my height, maybe a little taller?" One thing can be said about Gil is he's not particularly shy.

Then the Eternal spots the person he's looking for and lifts an arm to wave at him, "Hey there!"

Morgan Finn has posed:
Several kids point to Morgan when Gilgamesh starts inquiring. There is some general murmuring and amazement that Gilgamesh from the Eternals just landed on campus. I mean, it's not out of control. Supers some to HH all the time. But still, it's a big deal. One girl asks Gilgamesh if he would autograph her history notebook, holding it out with a pen hopefully.

Morgan grins wide when he sees who it is. "Gilgamesh!" he calls, trotting over to the super-powered Eternal. "You came. I didn't figure you would." He's all smiles and warm looks. He seems genuinely happy to see Gil, and it's easy to see why he has so many friends on campus.

Gilgamesh has posed:
"Sure thing, Ms," Gilgamesh tells the girl who asks for an autograph. He scribbles his name in the book with the young person's pen and offers the stuff back to her. It says, 'Gilgamesh. Warrior King of Uruk.'

Once that nicety is taken care of he looks over at Morgan and nods, "I figured you could use something good to eat." He pulls off his backpack and holds it in front of his body, opening it to check out what he's got inside. The first thing he comes out with is a spiral bound book that says, 'Dorm Cooking Recipes by Gilgamesh'. It's offered over to the young man, "I got some groceries for you in here, too. Cheese and meat and a pistachio concoction to add a little bit of sweet to it. You got any dietary restrictions? Probably should have asked that before putting together that book, but I got to thinking about your situation with tasteless foods and thought I'd help out."

Morgan Finn has posed:
Morgan's eyes light up. He takes the books, opens it up, and starts flipping through it. "Oh wow, this is great, Gilgamesh. Thanks a bunch." Some kids are starting to watch with a little bit of envy. Diana Prince checks up on the kid regularly, and now Gilgamesh from the Eternals come by to see him.

"I don't have any dietary restrictions. It just has to be small enough to fit in my mouth," Morgan says with a laugh. "So you flew all the way here? Do you get cold up there? Or does the temperature not affect you? Also, it sounds like maybe I'm a super villain trying to collect data on your weakness, but I swear I'm not!"

Gilgamesh has posed:
"You're welcome," Gilgamesh says with a chuckle as he pulls a grocery bag from his backpack. "I like knowing people are eating good food. Here's the meat and cheese, you just cut it, put it on the crackers and add a touch of the pistachio stuff."

"Alright, you'll like the stuff in that book I wrote. Should all be affordable and if you want you can get your pals to kick in for a big meal if you're feeling froggy." Gil looks pleased as punch that his gift is well received, "I fly very fast and the cold doesn't bother me at all. I'm pretty much impervious to heat and cold and all that. Don't worry about finding my weakness. It's good food." Merrily, he pats himself on the belly.

Morgan Finn has posed:
Morgan reaches out and takes the grocery bag. "This is really generous, thanks so much." He looks around. About a dozen kids all fail in their attempts to look like they're not watching. "Do you...do you want a tour? Have you ever been around campus here before?"

Morgan looks like he isn't sure what to do. He has a bashful streak and having a major public figure just fly in to bring him groceries is triggering that streak. It's like super-powered Uber Eats.

Gilgamesh has posed:
"Sure, I'll take a tour," Gilgamesh says in a friendly manner, sliding his backpack back on. "Share that book around. If people like it I can get some more copies printed up."

"You okay, Morgan? You don't need to show me around if you don't want to. I didn't mean to interrupt your day or anything, just wanted to make sure you were squared away with something good to eat and the means to produce stuff for yourself."

Morgan Finn has posed:
The teen's reflexive smile takes over his face and the sides of his neck flush a bit. Morgan shakes his head. "No, no, I'm fine. Really. I'm just blown away that you came all this way like this. I don't even know what to say." He gestures with a flick of his head, causing errant bangs to shift in front of his eyes. He shakes them out of the way. "C'mon, lemme drop this stuff off. You can see my room and the amazing kitchenette I have. Then we can walk around and see the place." He starts to head in the direction of the dormitories.

Gilgamesh has posed:
"Sounds like a plan," Gilgamesh tells the youth as he walks along beside him. "I like helping people however I can and getting folks squared away with a tasty meal always pleases me." The Eternal looks around, studying the joint and its inhabitants, most of whom get nods or waves. "How you like school? I've never really had what you'd call formal classroom education." With a chuckle he adds, "I bet I could knock out a history degree pretty quick if I put my mind to it, though."

Morgan Finn has posed:
Morgan holds the grocery bag to his chest as he walks. "Well, school's okay. I mean, I'm passing everything. But if I'm being honest, I'm not much of a book dude, you know?" He looks over at Gilgamesh as he says that to see if the Eternal seems to disapprove. "Sports I'm into. I play football, baseball, and basketball for the school, plus any pick-up game I can get my hands on."

The Happy Harbor student leads the way into the dorms. "This is where our cells are," he says jokingly, a smile on his face. "They ain't much, but as someone who hasn't always had somewhere warm and safe to sleep, I can appreciate them."

Gilgamesh has posed:
"Long as you're passing it doesn't matter how much you like books, I guess," Gilgamesh says with a little chuckle. "That's a lot of sports. Athletic pursuits are good for you, keep you strong and fit and keep the mind sharp, too."

He looks down the halls and grins, "This seems like a nice place to live. Having slept in my share of ditches I know the importance of a clean, dry and warm place to hang your hat."

Morgan Finn has posed:
Morgan reaches out and turns the knob to room 16A. He leads the way in. "Come one in," he says. The dorm room is set up for two, but it looks like he has it all to himself. There is a main sleeping area, a small space for a table and chairs, a kitchenette, and a small bathroom with shower. Pretty standard stuff. He sets the groceries down on the table. Everything looks unusually neat. In fact, one can see a couple of gym bags with clothes packed in them.

"I'm only here for a few more days, then I'll be at the Themysciran Embassy for winter break. Now you wanna talk about food! Ferdinand, the chef there, makes the most unbelievably everything basically." He gestures toward Gil with a chin flick. "You should come by and have a meal. There's always plenty of space and plenty of food."

Gilgamesh has posed:
"Alright alright," Gil says after taking a look around the room. "Looks good in here, very neat." At the mention of the Themysciran Embassy the Eternal smiles and says, "I'd love to check it out. Have to see how Ferdinand stacks up."

"This isn't too bad," he says when he checks out the kitchenette. "I, for some reason, thought this place would be more like a barracks, but it's really nice and private. You really do seem to have everything you need to get by in here."

He lifts his chin at Morgan, "You know some Amazons, I gather." There's a bit of a pause, "I wonder if any of them from ancient Greece are still around. I think Troy might have been the last time I've seen one in person."

Morgan Finn has posed:
Morgans says in a soft, subdued tone, "A couple years ago the League of Assassins tried to kidnap me. What they had planned for me was..." Kid shrugs a bit. "...not good. Not good at all. Wonder Woman saved my life. My mom died in the attack, though, so Diana took me in. She looks out for me, trains me in combat, and stuff." Morgan shrugs a bit. It's obvious he's not very good at talking about himself. He much prefers to focus on others. "I guess I'm...I'm what they call a demigod. I mean, that's what they tell me. Supposedly, my father is Asclepius."

He shakes his head, like he's talked about himself about as much as he has the will to. And it doesn't take long at all for his ever-present smile to return. He's just...a happy kid despite everything that's happened to him. "I bet you seen some stuff though, am I right? Alive for so long? Watching history unfold in real time"

Gilgamesh has posed:
"The god of healing? That's a hell of a pedigree you've got," Gil says to Morgan. "I'm sorry about your mom, though. Losing people is rough." The old guy's seen a lot of loss in his day.

Then the change of topic happens and Gilgamesh hops on board, "I've seen a lot of stuff in my day. Lived in Athens and Rome when they were republics. Super cool to see the first democracies take off. I've been part of more wars than I can remember and met a few famous people. Oh, you ever heard of the Emu War? That was the last war I was in, about a century ago now. For the last five hundred some years I've been working on helping people by cooking instead of in battle, though that's changing now."

Morgan Finn has posed:
The kid grins. "Did you ever meet Cleopatra? Be honest, was she hot?" Morgan starts putting perishables in the mini-fridge. Then he neatly folds the paper bag and sets it on a pile of bags. He opens the fridge and takes out a bottle of water and a bottle of grape Gatorade, holding them both out for Gilgamesh to choose one if he's thirsty. "Want somethin' to drink?"

Gilgamesh has posed:
"She was alright, more charismatic than hot, I'd say," Gilgamesh replies. "You can still see her likeness on coins and stuff." When the drinks are offered Gil goes for the water, "Thank you." He opens the bottle, neatly twisting the cap off, and takes a drink. "I served under Mark Antony for a while. Hell of an officer, very sharp guy. I spent a lot of time as a Centurion in the Roman Legions. I was a big believer in the Roman Republic and couldn't figure out how to leave after it became an empire. I just wanted to see if prosper, even if there was stuff about it I didn't like."

Morgan Finn has posed:
With a quick twist, Morgan opens the Gatorade and takes a long pull. He appears to be a little disappointed to hear that Cleopatra wasn't hot, but you know how teenage boys can be. "What keeps you going?" he asks. "I mean, if that's too personal just tell me to shut up. But after all of those years and seeing everything you must have seen, how are you so warm and friendly, bringing people food and helping save cats from trees?"

Gilgamesh has posed:
"I keep going because I like life," Gil says with a little laugh. "I think that the average person out there puts more good into the world than harm, so why shouldn't I try to do the same? I just take it to another level because of my abilities." He has another drink of water and smiles, "It makes me feel good to know that good people are well taken care of and that bad folks keep away."

Morgan Finn has posed:
"You remind me a lot of Diana," Morgan says after he sucks down some more Gatorade. "She has this optimism about her, like all the shit she's seen and all the bad she knows exists in the galaxy and in other dimensions doesn't have the ability to bring her down. She's strong, probably up there with Superman, but her real strength is her mind and her heart." His looks and tone are wistful and it wouldn't be difficult to figure out that our young demigod has a little bit of a crush on Wonder Woman. For sure he's not the only high school kid who does. He just has a front row seat.

Gilgamesh has posed:
"She sounds like an interesting person," says Gil. "I'd love to meet her some time. It's good to have your heart in the right place and from everything I've heard about her she seems to." Then he lifts his chin at Morgan, "Thanks for showing me around, man, but I got to hit the skies in a bit. Going to check out Metropolis, probably, fly around there and see how things are doing out there."

Morgan Finn has posed:
Morgan offers a broad smile to Gilgamesh. "Thanks for coming by," he says to Gilgamesh. "Seriously. It means the world to me. I'm going to be at the Themysciran Embassy all of winter break. If you want to swing by and meet everyone, give me a call." He scribbles down his cell number on a piece of paper and hands it to Gilgamesh. "Good luck out there. Stay safe."
