Age of Humanity

The Age of Humanity was marked by the end of the Age of Mythology and the power of the New Gods who reigned on Earth. This roughly correlates with the rise of the 4th Dynasty of Egypt and the Helladic Period of Greece.

In this era magic and the influence of the gods was still very real, but waned considerably. The gods were forced to rely on messengers, avatars and demigods with mortal aspects to carry their will forward. Many monsters left over from the Age of Mythology ravaged these ancient lands and humans had to contend with dragons, manticores, and sea serpents while they struggled to recover the trappings of civilization. Lent knowledge by the gods, Fae and sometimes otherworldly visitors, humanity set their feet under them and started building a world to suit them.

One of the worst near-disasters of this era was Morgan le Fay's attempt to summon Chthon using the Darkholde in 1100 CE. It was only thanks to the intervention of Merlyn and the Knights of the Round that humanity wasn't sent spiraling back millennia back to the dark ages of twisted magic warping the land.

The Age of Humanity terminates in approximately 1400 CE with the Age of Exploration. This marked a significant downturn in spiritual and magical inclinations among humanity as they collectively embraced science and secular thought..
