The snarky, former research assistant to famed astrophysicists Dr. Erik Seilvig and Dr. Jane Foster, Dary Lewis has gone from student sidekick to Agent of SHIELD. Also she met Thor that one time. Nowadays, when not saving the universe from aliens, works a humble day job teaching.

Timeline:
* 1993: Born to an average family in a Philadelphia suburb.
* 2011: Attends Culver University in Virginia. Remains 'undecided' on major despite her intelligence.
* 2015: Works as assistant to Drs. Erik Seilvig and Jane Foster despite her lack of credentials ('she was the only applicant'). Present for Thor's arrival on Earth. Recruited by SHIELD following those events, and decides to continue under Dr. Seilvig.
* 2018: Works with SHIELD technical & support teams during Loki's attack on NYC.
* 2020: Completes Doctorate and requests additional training for field qualifications.

Personality
Curiousity:
There's a saying about curiousity, although it hasn't killed her yet, despite proximity to alien deities and invasions. Darcy is naturally an inquisitive sort, and while she may put on displays of aloofness or detachment, this is only to maintain a certain level of cool versus gushing about all the genuinely bizarre stuff she's run across in her brief hero-adjacent career. In truth, a puzzle is something just begging to be solved, and just try telling her not to.
Snarky:
Darcy is... more than a bit sarcastic and biting in most situations, even those of potential superheroic crisis. Credit this to general hipsterism if you prefer, although it might suggest a bit of a defense mechanism from more serous emotional injury or investment.
Willful:
Darcy's always had a stubborn streak a mile wide, and some serious issues with social conformity and authority. Some of this may come from childhood and teenage experience with social pressure, stereotyping, and other difficulties fitting in as the 'smart' girl. Or maybe it's just a natural give-no-shits attitude. In any case, she's very much the kind to speak her mind, resist being talked down to, and ultimately do what she thinks is right in a given situation.

Astrophysics:
Studying under Erik Seilvig (and alongside his own protege Jane Foster), Darcy's become an expert in modern (read: alien-aware) astrophysics with subspecialties in quantum mechanics and particle physics.
Computers:
Perhaps more a hobby than a proper academic field, Darcy's nonetheless very good with computers and electronic security. A hacker? Yeah, that.
Driving:
While not precisely a pro, she's a scarily aggressive driver.
Escapology:
Don't ask her where she learned this (unless you want the a story about the fuzzy handcuffs), but Darcy's got a more-or-less stage magician level of skill at getting out of bindings. It comes in handy!
Intelligence:
Darcy's definitely incredibly gifted, even if she doesn't play to the usual stereotype of a genius scientist. In the few years she's spent working with SHIELD after her encounters with the larger realities of the universe, she's learned incredibly quickly, adapting to new fields and technolgies.
Self-Defense:
Even prior to joining SHIELD, Darcy had taken several self-defense courses. Since joining, she's learned a lot more. While most of what she knows is very defensively oriented (escaping holds, counter-throws, etc) she's a servicable shot with a taser... or a scarier SHIELD-issue superweapon if someone happanes to give her one of those.

Job:
She has a teaching position as an adjunct professor, and all the amazing luxuries that come with it: a mediocre paycheck, a small apartment, and so on!

She's just an analyst and junior field agent, but it's still something!
Weaknesses
In Over Her Head:
Everything about Darcy's current life is nuts, and she's well aware of the fact. While she's not precisely cowardly, there's a certain level of constant anxiety that goes with being involved in her kind of work as the kind of person she is. It doesn't always (in fact, it rarely does) stop her from sticking her nose in things or mouthing off to cosmic horrors, but it means she's more or less *always* on the edge of seriously freaking out.

Richard and Nat get to play with big guns, Lara wields something that was probably once in a tomb, and a little Raven flies to Baltimore. In the aftermath, some of those captured are revealed as former WAND agents or consultants. |

While she fights the group, Rogue combines her draining powers with Sauron's, and his hypnosis is able to help free Tanya's part of her psyche and push back the Queen intelligence. At the same time, it provokes a release of all the Queen's knowledge. This is overwhelming to most, but Cinque's power allows him to usefully process the information. It includes glimpses of the entirety of Brood civilization, spanning eons and parts of the universe unknown to humanity. There is good news and bad. The good: they know where the bioweapons are being stored. The bad? The Brood in some of those furthest reaches may still exist, free of the Phoenix's wrath - and potentially aware of this single wayward Queen. Also, a very gentlemanly Sauron requests an unorthodox team-up. |

During the interview, the Brood Hive Mind seems ready to telepathically overwhelm SHIELD's safeguards, while Tanya tries to communicate from inside her transforming mind. She claims she can help 'find' and deal with the rest of the Brood... but only if they work quickly, before she loses herself to the new Queen persona, and that killing her will only see her replaced. Fixating on Stadler, she communicates that she need 'someone' to help her keep control, and they eventually realize she may be seeking Karl Lykos. Or maybe she just has the hots for Rick! Also Darcy and Lara discuss scenic Savage Land vacations. |

In human form, Lykos is repentant, but claims innocence in the plot to free him, and urges his captors to find Tanya Anderssen, who possesses equal knowledge of his work. Work that between the research and stolen physical samples could potentially be used to create a powerful genetic weapon capable of truly strange mutations for its targets. |
| Operation WATCHFUL: Labwork | February 8th, 2023 | Examining the sample from the medical lab raid, Agent Simmons conducts her work under careful HAZMAT procedures. In the end, what she finds is both a relief and... very much not. The sample is some kind of engineered retrovirus (with a very curious 'author'), but one that is missing it's DNA payload: a bioweapon without a warhead, leaving SHIELD to wonder what is supposed to go in there. While she works, the rest of the team observes and discusses the broader threat from the Shi'ar across many trajectories. Steve, admittedly, is mostly there for the coffee. |
| Operation WATCHFUL: Biohazard | January 11th, 2023 | The biolab is raided, with simultaneous infiltration and a gun battle at the loading docks, with Toni Ho, Carin Taylor, and Zinda Blake facing off against heavily-armed mercs. Shi'ar involvement, in supply of hi-tech weaponry - and Agent Romanoff's encounter with a rival agent - seems undeniable. Fortunately, Richard Stadler is able to secure a sample from the facility's clean lab before a self-destruct is triggered, offering a chance to analyze whatever was being developed there. |
| United Nations: UNOOSA Joint Security Session | December 14th, 2022 | The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs holds a routine security meeting to listen to various briefings and reports. SHIELD Deputy Director Maria Hill details the decades-long investigation of UAP - Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon - while Darcy Lewis presents a summary of the Shi'ar conflict and negotiations. They discuss a variety of topics, from the chance of alien intelligence operations, to bioweapons research... and oh yeah, there's a spy in the room. They try to arrest it, it goes crazy robot killer armor, and Jane-not-Thor saves the day with the help from her friends. Darcy still hates her job. |
