Lilith was the first wife of Adam, created by The Presence in The Garden Of Eden.

Lilith was rejected by Adam; she was strong-willed and had her own dreams and desires, and wouldn't submit to him as God had ordained the other animals. Adam asked God to send him a new wife, so Eve was created and Lilith was cast out into the world.

No longer quite a mortal, Lilith consorted with the other elder forces of the First Firmament. From them she learned of the ways of magic, becoming the first witch. She communed with all manner of creatures, from demons to mystical entities. Lilith lay with many of them and produced vast scores of progeny, some beautiful to behold, some terrifying. She came to be called the Mother of Monsters, and many ancient ideologues and mystical creatures view her as their ultimate ancestor.

She enjoyed in particular seducing angels. From their liaisons came the race of the Lilim, a creature that belonged to no realm-- not Heaven, Hell, or even the Earth. Lilith watched with despair as the angels of the Silver City swept her children from that place, reneging on their bargain with the Lilim. She bid them bide their time, to wait for one among them to rise up not just as a warlord, but a leader of the people.

Lilith rarely joins the world of mortals. She appears when her children are harmed, or when the natural laws of magic coax her out of her home. The Host still has orders to see her dead, so Lilith lives a cautious eternity largely devoid of comfort, where she can contemplate the mysteries of the universe in peace.
