Profile
Sebastian Winters, teenager and bookish over achiever, with the power of his ancient artifacts transforms into the blue centurion known as Cabochon Blue! A new hero and student at Happy Harbor Preparatory School he seeks to become a member of Young Justice so that he may be challenged and find out just who he is deep down inside.
Timeline
Timeline:
* 2004 January 31st -- Born to Elisabeth and Charles Winters an lower-upper class family. His father is an archaeologist and his mother a anthropologist.
* 2004 February 5th -- The family car explodes! Left running in front of the hospital waiting for the family to exit with their newborn child a car bomb goes off in the empty vehicle timed to explode after it had been running for a certain length of time. The culprit has never been caught.
* 2009 March 15th A shot rings out over the playground at his school. A bullet zings by his head nicking the barest edge of his ear giving him a small scar. Scrambling he and the other children on the playground scatter and hide. The shooter did not take another shot nor were they caught or discovered.
* 2014 September 20th -- Eating tainted food he is poisoned with arsenic. The food was served to him at a restaurant he and his parents were attending at one of his father's conferences. Barely surviving he spent the next year in recovery. The would be murderer again was never discovered. Authorities begin to investigate his parents but find nothing suspicious.
* 2018 July 2nd -- Sebastian enters and is accepted into an archaeology internship program with the approval of his father. During his summer and winter breaks he travels to various dig sites to help in uncovering history.
* 2019 June 21st -- Solstice. Sebastian uncovers a pair of golden bracers. Temptation proves too great and he tries them on and feels compelled to bring them together making for his first transformation into the blue centurion "Cabochon Blue".
* 2019 September 13th -- Sabotage! His break lines cut he finds himself hurtling towards a curved road that ends in thick woods at a speed too fast to survive. Fortunately he was able to transform at the last moment and survive. Who is trying to kill him every five years?!?
* 2020 February 20 -- Sebastian arrives at his new apartment provided by his father. He intends to attend a new school for those with meta abilities and perhaps find a way to join a group of fellow heroes. His parents live just across town but are frequently away on different expeditions. Because of his maturity and so far responsible behavior they have allowed him to gain some independence from them.

Personality
As Cabochon:
Under the influence of his bracer's magic. Sebastian is transformed somewhat into a more confident youthful, athletic, and vibrant. Occasionally he can come across as a bit of overbearing but this is unintentional and relates to his high intelligence matched with his zeal and desire to be accepted. He has within him a hunger for more... more what he isn't sure but he has a strong desire to become stronger.
As Sebastian:
While he is an outgoing vibrant youth, he still tends to lack some confidence in himself. He is a bit nerdy and bookish in nature and tends to keep his gaze at the ground though this is not from any sort of shyness. Occasionally he can come across as a bit of a know-it-all but this is unintentional due to his heightened IQ.

Powers
Armor:
All of his powers come from his bracers. There are three "modes" for his bracers: Dormant, Empowered, and Armored
Dormant: In this state the bracers resemble two hinged one-inch wide bands of gold with a single sapphire cabochon centered on each. Sebastian is his normal-unpowered self in this state. The bracelets can be removed from him easily and with them his access to his powers.
Empowered: In this state, he gains most of his enhancements and powers except for his protective armor. The bracelets are now full bracers or gauntlets that cover much of his forearm and the back of his hand. A large blue star sapphire adorns the center of each of his gauntlets. Upon his brow is a narrow circlet or crown with a similar cabochon held at the center of his brow. This allows him to walk about in civilian attire while still in his transformed state. His hair is shorter and more stylish and his facial features are altered just enough to appear to be a different individual from his normal-unpowered self.
Armored: In this state he is fully armored and has access to the full compliment of his abilities. His facial features are altered just enough to appear to be a different individual from his normal-unpowered self. His hair becomes cropped short, hidden beneath a large centurion helmet complete with blue colored ruff. He is adorned with a golden breastplate, grieves, skirt, and other clothing and looks much like a ancient centurion of Rome. With this armor he gains some level of invulnerability, a field of influence even covers those parts showing bear skin. So far he knows he is immune to damage from anything up to a high powered riffle, but he is leery of trying anything greater. His invulnerability is largely dependent upon his level of attunement and willpower/concentration. An unexpected blow from a powerful weapon is more likely to do damage to him than a shot that he can see coming.
Enhanced Attributes:
While either in his Empowered or fully Armored state Cabochon has greatly enhanced abilities when compared to his normal self. He is much stronger, able to lift up to one ton in weight. His agility, speed, endurance, and reflexes are enhanced as well but these attributes could be seen in some of the world's top athletes. He is no Spider-man, but he can roll and dodge with the best of them. The more he concentrates on one aspect of his abilities the greater it becomes up to and including the limits stated above.
Life-Support:
While either in his fully Armored state Cabochon is sustained by his armor. He need not breath (unless he wants to talk), eat, drink water, or exude waste. He can survive in most harsh environments found on earth and he can survive indefinitely in the harsh vacuum of space. This ability is not active during his Dormant unpowered normal state, nor is it available to him in his lesser Empowered state. As with all of of his abilities, his attunement and willpower play a role though by reflex his armor will try its best to sustain him even in an unconscious state.
Regeneration:
While either in his Empowered or fully Armored state Cabochon has a low level of regeneration. Most light or moderate wounds will heal within a day. More severe wounds within a few days. He cannot regrow lost limbs, and if he is killed... dead is dead. This regenerative ability is not active during his Dormant unpowered normal state.
Weapons Creation:
By converting the molecules of the air around him, or with direct contact with any other inorganic substance, he can reshape the atoms into a weapon of his choice. Currently at his given skill he can only form basic weapons and armaments such as swords, spears, shields, bows, arrows, knives, daggers, flails and the like. Nothing with complex moving parts. One day soon with lots of practice he may be able to form a crossbow. The weapons he creates out of air are unstable and will not sustain their existence for more than a moment outside of his grasp. Weapons crated from converted solid matter last much longer before reverting to their natural state. The materials he creates are magical in nature for the purpose of judging their durability. This ability is not active during his Dormant unpowered normal state, nor is it available to him in his lesser Empowered state. As with all of of his abilities, his attunement and willpower play a role.
Skills
Ancient Weapons:
While his bracers are active he gains an intuitive knowledge in the workings and art form of using basic weaponry such as swords, daggers, shields, and the like. Some of this knowledge has carried over into his regular normal self but he is nowhere near as adept without his bracer's influence.
Arcane Knowlege:
While his bracers are active he has an intuitive basic instinct for arcana. He cannot perform magical spells or untangle enchantments, but he can sense and see magic and grasp its importance and potency. Because of this aspect of his abilities he is currently seeking out tutelage in this area.
Archaeology:
Archaeology is defined as "The study of human history and prehistory through the excavation of sites and the analysis of artifacts and other physical remains." Being the son of both an Archaeologist and Paleontologist he was steered from an early age to learn and study these areas of knowledge. For the past two years he has interned at various archaeological dig sites around the world with the approval of both of his parents.
Brawling:
While his bracers are active he gains an intuitive knowledge in the workings and art form of using fists and feet as weapons. Some of this knowledge has carried over into his regular normal self but he is nowhere near as adept without his bracer's influence.
Highschool Ap:
Due to his high IQ, Sebastian has tested well in most Highschool courses and has earned his place in Advanced Placement classes. He excels in History and Literature and is fairly adept in the sciences.
Linguistics:
Sebastian speaks three languages and others to varrying degrees. He speaks English, French, and Arebic fluently. He has some grasp of Greek, Italian, Latin, ancient Egyptian, and Cuneiform though he cannot speak all of these with fluency and needs references to understand them. He has yet to study, Spanish, the South American laguages, or the Asian languages to any great degree.
Resources
Apartment:
His parents have provided him with his own small private apartment in Staten Island. Nothing exotic but quite comfortable for one person.
Family Wealth:
His parents are in the lower-upper class of the income bracket so money for him is not an issue though he is not a spendthrift and cannot live an opulent lifestyle on the stipend that they give him. "Comfortable" is the best way to describe his access to funds.
School:
With the acceptance into an exclusive school he has access to their resources provided to all students.
Weaknesses
Artifact's Ego:
While the bracers do not speak to him or exactly have a personality, they do exude an influence upon him. The influence varies from individual to individual, but in Sebastian's case they make him slightly more driven, hungry for more power and ability, and boost his levels of confidence. This has not been to his detriment so far...
Attunement:
Much of his abilities with the bracers depends upon his attunement and willpower. If something were to effect his attunement such as drink, drugs, loss of consciousness, mind control, or other similar factors... he could easily loose touch with his enhancements and abilities and revert to his normal self.
Golden Bracers:
The bracers themselves have an inherent flaw. While they cannot be easily removed while Sebastian is in an empowered state. If his wrists are forced together in a particular way his powers vanish and the bracelets can be easily removed from his wrists.
Magic:
A skilled magician versed in the ways of such items can bypass their protections. They would need to study and decipher their spell work in order to do so but this is a risk inherent in all items of this type.
Mysterious Assassin:
From the time of his birth until the present, about every five years someone has tried to kill him. The party or parties are unknown and as so far have been unsuccessful. To date each attempt has been a "one shot" indirect type ranging from a car bomb, a sniper, poison, and tampering with his car's breaks. It is as if in each instance the party or parties unknown have a limited amount of time in which to make their attempt before they vanish without a trace. (This is a plot hook for the future and is quite open for participation by others.)
Other Cabochons:
The Cabochon armor is in fact incomplete. It is part of a set of five items, Bracers, a Ring, a Necklace, a Belt, and a crown. The locations of each are scattered throughout the world and are currently undiscovered and hidden. The Cabochons are vulnerable to each other's abilities and each are driven/influenced to obtain the items of power from the hands of any other. If all five items are gathered the consequences for the wielder are dire indeed... total subsumption of their personality for that of the creator of the items, an ancient unnamed wizard of long ago.
