- Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
It was officially Winter Break for Happy Harbor High School, but they had a special outing for the school to enjoy still! The students who wanted to go had been shuttled to Rockefeller Center for a day of Christmas shenanigans. Lunch and dinner are being provided and the day is ending with ice skating at one of the rinks around the center since the main one is generally overfilled as it is.
So far no one had fallen and broken anything. That might change!
The students and faculty that attended were handed visa gift cards for this outing and that was a merrier surprise given money for presents and souvenirs is a fun thing. But Morrigan didn't give instructions on how they spent it, just told them to have fun. Currently the red headed director of the school is seated on one of the benches near the side of the rink and listening in on things. While she can't currently see, she can hear if there are any problems. There is a rather large raven sitting on the railing in front of her and it is still as a statue for the time being.
- Wendell Vaughn has posed:
While yes, it is cold out, Wendell -could- be using the Quantum Bands to subtly increase the IR level on his person to keep warm. But that would go against the spirit of the holidays. He grew up in Wisconsin. New York winters are nothing compared to that. So he's out and about in a casual outfit made up of black leather loafers, blue jeans, and a teeshirt and sweatshirt combo. Over that is a fall level coat. Not some super bundled down coat. More like a carhart thing... brown, almost canvas looking.
He's been running nonstop, what with his personal business getting off the ground, work with SHIELD, and jumping through different space sectors monitoring energy levels for threats. It's a hard knock life... okay, so that's a blatant theft from Annie...
Either way, he locked up the office today, and decided to grab dinner down near the rink and just relax a bit. Dinner consists of a pair of New York style hot dogs purchased from a vendor cart on the streets, and a cup of hot cocoa to go with them.
He finished the food, and finds himself near the ice rink, peoplewatching while he sips on the steaming cup of cocoa.
- Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Ho ho holy shi.... Xiomara was actually participating. Instead of her usual action of lingering at the edges of the crowd and just watching, the Czarnian had worn some rather flashy winter attire, put on a pair of ice skates and was in fact sliding around on the ice like a train wreck waiting to happen. She didn't seem to care that there was absolutely no grace to her movements and that the act of just staying upright took most of her attention.
In the end she made her way around the ring at least three times, getting a little better with each pass, until she managed to actually skate without falling down or looking like an out of control Kermit the Frog muppet, arms waving, etc. Sweet, sweet victory was her's, which meant as the glided past Ms. MacIntyre and the raven for the forth time, actually laughing with enjoyment could be heard.
- Johnny Storm has posed:
Johnny Storm arrived a bit late, wearing just a leather jacket and jeans over a t-shirt. He didn't get cold, really, it wasn't something he ever had to bother with, being who and what he is. But he knows it's a problem for everyone else. He puts on his skates and slides out onto the ice, showing himself to be surprisingly deft. Johnny's highly coordinated and quite capable, of course, so spins around idly and greets various people. Normally, he'd make a bonfire for this sort of outing, but he suspects the authorities might frown upon a big fire in the current locale. Might spook some folks.
- Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
The raven hibbity hops a bit as students pass and there is a caw. A lot of people generally are too wrapped up to notice, but that bird is keeping an eye on things. Maybe it is since Morrigan can't right now. "Benvy, no one is causing trouble, calm it down." the Irish woman states to the bird. There's a ruffle of its feathers, but it quiets down. "Everyone sounds like they're having a good time. Wonder where Rio has gotten himself off to today." she muses.
Declan and Delia are also on the rink, Tyler is still strapping on skates since they fell behind, but he stops by where Morrigan is sitting to talk with her for a moment before he finds his way onto the ice.
- Wendell Vaughn has posed:
Skating on a rink. *snort* People should be skating on ponds. Maybe even lakes. Wendell grins at the memories of his childhood. And then he notices the raven. His left eyebrow lifts a bit and then he shrugs. May as well get on the ice, as fake as it is.
So he steps over and hands over a few dollars to the rental agent before accepting the skates and then sits down to remove his shoes. His blue eyes come up and peer about his surroundings as he does so. But most of his attention is on the neural link between him and his invisible wristbands. Sensing the various energies in the area. Electromagnetic energies to be specific. It's really a difficult thing to -stop- paying attention to when it comes down to it.
- Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Most of the time there is a certain speed at which the circling of a rink goes at, with slower people moving to the outer most edge, near the walls, and the faster people on the inside. Inside the center of the rink is where the show offs usually ended up, the type that knew the fancy spinning moves or fancy ice skating maneuvers.
Xiomara was on the outside edge of the circling masses, steadily growing more confident on the ice... and then she notes the hot cocoa with whipped cream being carried around by some of the other students. Finding the open spot along the wall she steps off the ice carefully near Ms. MacIntyre and Benvy, but pauses there for just a moment.
"Ms. M, do ya happen to know where they're getting the hot cocoa from?" She asks of her Headmistress in a cheerful tone. "It small /amazing/... I think they used dark chocolate."
- Johnny Storm has posed:
Johnny also decide to provide some general assistance. He brought along a few robot assistants, HERBIES, inventions of his luminary brother-in-law. They float about three feet off the ice and seek out students or adults having trouble on the ice to offer support and assistance, as well as helping to dry them off if they get soaked from a fall.
Johnny gets a whiff of that cocoa and glides over to near where Xiomara is, "I think I need to get a cup of that. Tell me they have marshmallows"
- Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan's eyes don't focus on the people in front of her, though she does know which direction they are in, "I sadly don't know which vendor it is. I can smell it, but I can't see it." she tells Xiomara. Then there's a chuckle as she hears Johnny, "Maybe Mister Storm could point it out?" or anyone else that was close!
Benvy hops down from the rail and settles in Morrigan's lap. The woman reaches a pale hand out to pat the raven gently, "You're doing fine. No ones going to have your head." she tells her quietly. "Are you all having fun?" she asks.
- Wendell Vaughn has posed:
Finishing lacing up his skates, Wendell smiles. He gestures down the way about thirty or so feet. "That guy right there. Best cocoa in the city. He knows how to make a killin', usually does other sorts of vending, but when it gets cold, he sells cocoa... makes it with milk, not water.... And real marshmallows too." he says with a goofy grin.
"Guy's named Corey. He's a nice guy." That said in the tone of voice that could only come from someone who's spent a good amount of time in New York. But -not- with the typical New York accent in his voice. Sounds more Midwestern if anyone can tell such things.
That done, he stands up on his skates and smiles. He grew up on ice skates, and he begins walking towards the ice. "If I had a hockey stick, I'd be better balanced." he says before stepping out onto the ice.
- Xiomara Rojas has posed:
"If they sell cocoa, they gotta have marshmallows," Xiomara comments to Mr. Storm with a grin. "It'd be unAmerican if they didn't. I saw some with whipped cream too, which is the best if you ask me."
Hearing Wendell speak, her attention turns first to him and then in the direction he indicates. She had no idea who he was, but he knew where the cocoa was, so for the moment he was alright in her book.
"Hey thanks!" she offered to him, starting to head toward the vendor as she asks. "Ms. M, which would you like, marshmallows or whipped cream?"
Once she is closer to the vendor, she lifts her voice to carry over the crowd, but not exactly screaming or yelling, "I'm buying everyone cocoa, so come get it!"
- Johnny Storm has posed:
Johnny Storm goes and gets his own cup of cocoa. "You got a jumbo size, my man?" he asks the vendor. Of course, now he's off the ice and a little bit wobbly on his skates, but flying would require him to flame on and he's not about to ignite this close to that much ice. Everybody would be having a very cold swim very quickly.
He looks over at Wendell, "Hockey guy, huh? I thought about it, but it conflicted with basketball season and my three pointer was just too sweet to deny the team."
- Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
"Thank you." Morrigan tells Wendell, she's not sure who he is, but he helped out and that was nice! She gives a soft shake of her head to Xiomara, "No Cocoa for me, but thank you for the kind offer." she tells the young woman. There's a moment she takes to close her eyes and settle back against the bench she was sitting on. Just trying to keep herself from trying to wander off.
"We could get you a hockey stick fairly quickly I'm guessing." she muses to that.
- Wendell Vaughn has posed:
Chuckling, Wendell shrugs his shoulders, "I get a stick in my hands and I might just reflexively check someone into the boards." he admits as he shakes his head, "I appreciate the sentiment." And then he looks to Johnny, "Mister Storm. Nice to meet you. Name's Wendell. I have been looking at office space in your brother in-law's building." He offers a hand to Johnny and either way, when done with that he steps out onto the ice.
He pushes off and begins gliding over the ice. HE doesn't skate like a figure skater. His style is sporty, athletic. Hockey.
- Xiomara Rojas has posed:
For a few minutes Xiomara is fielding the ordering and distribution of cocoa to those who wanted some, but with her hearing she's tuning in on conversations all around her. She too is standing wobbly on ice skates, figuring no sense in removing them as she intends to skate more.
Leaving the gift card with Corey, she collects her cocoa and one for Mr. Storm, then makes her toward him to offer it over. She would have gotten any of the teachers who wanted it cocoa, and delivered it.
"Hockey?" she sort of questions in general. "That's the one on ice, with sticks and the little black disk, right?"
- Johnny Storm has posed:
Johnny Storm grins at Wendell, "Oh yeah? What kind of office? Maybe I can put in a good word for you. Sorry if he's slow, it can be hard to get Reed's attention. I blame astrophysics. How can you help but be absent-minded contemplating the infinity of the universe all the time?"
He takes his cup from Xio, "Thank you, young lady. Crush, right? I swear, I'm actually going to teach some classes this semester, I'm not going to space this time. I swear."
- Wendell Vaughn has posed:
Laughing, Wendell turns on the ice so he is slowly drifting backwards away from the entrance. "Yes, the one with the sticks and the little plastic disk. It's called a puck. And it's only the best sport there is." he states, "Though I am admittedly biased in this matter."
His attention shifts to Johnny and he shrugs, "Security consultant. Cameras, sensors, all of the necessities to keep a home or business secure in the modern day."
That said, he turns and begins pushing off to accelerate in a deliberate and athletic manner. No powers needed for it either. Just skills he learned when growing up.
- Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
"I mean, as long as it isn't one of my students I don't really care who you check into a sideboard." Morrigan chuckles at that. That probably sounded more than a bit odd coming from such a quiet person. Godlings could be weird. She whispers something to Benvy and the bird caws quietly in response to her.
The twins and Tyler skate over to the rail in front of where Morrigan is and they start speaking with her, "We could lead you around the rink for a trip, Doctor MacIntyre." Delia offers to the redhead. "Yeah, no, I'm not trying my luck on the skates when I can't see." she muses to the group. Delia pouts, but she goes to collect cocoa. They all thank Xio for buying as it was generous of her!
- Xiomara Rojas has posed:
"Yeah, that's me... Crush," she answered to Mr. Storm, right eye twitching slightly when he calls her young lady. Humans are ladies, Czarnian's are, well technically mostly extinct... but also not ladies.
Once the cocoa is delivered, Xiomara takes a seat on a bench so she can relax while sipping and listening to the adults talk.
- Johnny Storm has posed:
Johnny Storm is fairly polite, despite his raucous reputation. Mostly because he got raised largely by his older sister who insisted that he at least behave like a civilized human being, even if he was going to run around and get into trouble.
To Wendell, he nods, "Security, huh? Seems like it would be okay. He'll probably just give you a background check to end all background checks. But if you're looking for any cutting edge tech for your agency, he might be able to hook you up. Provided he thinks you'll use it wisely."
- Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan's back to being quiet, but she's listening to folks that are talking around her. She's not in a big holiday mood, but that's just because of a bunch of stuff. She gives a few quiet words to the other chaperones that were there. Then she gets up with Benvy, "We're going to go somewhere a bit less crowded and do some shopping, have a good holiday all." she tells them.
