Operation: London Calling - Part Two
Date of Scene: 14 July 2023
Location: London - England
Synopsis: The Ripper has been caught, but is this the end of his spree?
Cast of Characters: Clea, Natasha Romanoff, James Barnes, Janet van Dyne

Clea has posed:
The chase is on!

Jack the Ripper (of the Dark Dimension) is being corralled towards the docks where the Quinjet is waiting to receive its unwilling cargo. Or at least something along those lines. Clea, Natasha and James are currently in pursuit while Hulk and Hank have peeled off to see about going to head him off on that side. They can jump and all of that fun stuff.

Jennifer is still doing her duty in keeping the crowds and masses centered around here by giving autographs, so that's fun!

Jack however is still shooting out razon sharp knives of varying sizes as he goes on his chase!

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
And a chase it is. A deadly, deadly one. Blades in every direction, magical knots that could cut through existence like a hot knife through butter. Natasha's pistols pulse as she fires several shots directly over at Jack! She's testing his reflexes and his durability. Does he evade the shots? Tank them? Do they phase him and make him recoil? Does he not notice or care for them? She shoots for what a normal personw ould be killing or crippling shots. Head, knees, shoulders, elbows, hips, wrists. Even for someone invulnerable, strikes might at least sting some.

So, while shooting over at a possible demonic being shooting knives out of evey orifice, she did it to see if he actually could be shot or not!

James Barnes has posed:
Bucky is of much the same mind as Natasha, so a magazine's-worth of bullets are shot, rapid-fire, in Jack the Ripper's direction. He's careful in his aiming, even though most of the civilians have long-since been cleared out either due to the Hulk's rampage or to get Jennifer's autograph.

And there's the issue of those razor sharp knives to deal with, too. Several of them come his way, so Bucky has to find cover behind lamp posts or parked cars to avoid them, on occasion even ducking and rolling to get out of the way. "This seems real familiar!" he calls out as he reloads his pistol. "Wonder if this guy was active back in the 40s in London?"

Janet van Dyne has posed:
Overhead, a twelve-inch pixie in black and gold is providing overwatch. Janet can cover a remarkable amount of ground in flight, fast enough to keep up with even two super-soldiers chasing after the Ripper through the dense London urban sprawl.

"<Give him a little nudge to the northeast, but he's otherwise going right to the target site,>" Janet informs the others over the comms network. "<There is a little civilian traffic on Northington but clear streets on Belthorne Avenue. Might be the safest way to go.>"

Clea has posed:
Clea's trying not to rush past anyone, because she can fly at a good clip, but since Jack is one of those special things he is pretty quick and his blades are nasty if someone gets hit by them. <"Making sure he's not hitting any civilians."> she tells the group over comms.

<"Noted Janet, thank you for the assist."> she tells the tiny one.

"Just need to get him cornered. He's going to lash out, so don't try to take him on solo, we can group up and get him worn down."> she tells her teammates.

James Barnes has posed:
Well, bullets don't seem to be doing the trick. But he doesn't have to pay for them, so Bucky fires another few in Jack's direction before Janet calls about civilian traffic from overhead. "<<Copy, I'll flank and steer him away.>>"

And then he does just that, putting on a brief, superhuman burst of speed so that he can leap over a parked car, take a corner at a diagonal, and push himself past Jack's location on the street so that he'll be waiting if Jack tries to turn down Northington rather than Belthorne. He also swaps out the pistol for an SMG he'd somehow concealed under his jacket this whole time.

Don't ask how. That's another Winter Soldier secret.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
There's more shots over from the pistol that Natasha is using, even as she's moving to mix up the shots with the occasional thrown grenade. The grenades are flashbangs with the occasional concussiong renade put into the mix. She's seeing how it reacts tot hem even as she keeps on shooting.

<<Understood.>> To Clea. <<And unimportant.>> Whether he was or was not infesting London.

Natasha goes to mix up the next grenade with an ICER round into the central mass if she acn. The shots aren't going to do anything, so she tries to mix it up. The point is to keep the thing off balance so they can herd it. <<Suggestions? Concussives?>>

Janet van Dyne has posed:
"<Aww c'mon Nats, give the old guy his time to reminisce.>" Janet laughs merrily, taking any real sting out of the gentle chivvying. "<How often does Bucky get to throw down with someone from his heyday?>"

The Wasp adjusts her flight attitude and drops lower as they close in on the target site. "<Though now that we mention it, are you sure he's gonna fold to a little electric action?>" she asks. The warm, soggy London air pushes her short hair this way and that and turns the buzz of her wings into something low and muted. "<I can temporarily paralyze him but I don't know if I can knock him out without causing some serious neurological damage. Might make it kinda hard to question him afterwards, and I do *not* want to be in arm's reach of this guy after I just pissed him off.>"

Clea has posed:
The very athletic British gentleman that they are chasing seems to be having a great time, even with that unhinged look on his face that is hard to hide. "You're not as scary as you once were, Winter Soldier. You've grown slow in these times!" he calls out to Bucky.

There's a bit of a snort laugh from Clea when age is talked on, but she doesn't say a thing. <"We're getting close. If you want to stun him, Janet, go for it. He's tougher than he looks under it all."> she tells them.

<No one should be in reach of him after we get Jack exorcised. Probably will need doctors just in case Jack tries to do anything rash though."> she frowns to that.

And up ahead the Avengers can see that the harbor and cargo areas lie just within their site. Now all they have to do is get the guy on the jet. No big deal!

James Barnes has posed:
"<<Nevermind, I'm remembering how much I hated this guy,>>" comes the grousing over their comm-units as Bucky shoots a couple bursts at Jack's feet to encourage him to go thataway, not thisaway. "<<Nostalgia is overrated.>>"

Whatever Clea decides regarding employing some of Janet's other skills, Bucky keeps firing those short bursts from his SMG to continue guiding their target in the direction they want without making it particularly obvious that he's not aiming to kill at this point, just to divert. Let Jack think he's slow and old... one of those things is, actually, true!

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
All right, the knives are there. They have to herd the -thing- along and keep it out of the way of civilians. They can do this. Shooting at the being isn't accomplishing much - not phasing it or stunning it. But at least aprts of it are solid - even if they're durable enough that her shots have noe ffect, they're clearly pinging off. Natasha goes to recalibrate..

And switches her targets. Rather than firing over at the main body of Jack.. She goes to fire them over at the hilts of the knives. Each shot is aimed at a point where blade would meet hilt. Each shot designed to knock a knife off course, mess with the arc, hsoot it out of midair if she could! Hopefully at least /this/ would get its annoyance if she wouldn't even let it stab.

Janet van Dyne has posed:
"<All right, I've got the extraction team in sight,>" Janet informs the others. "<Keep his attention off of me, I'm going in for the kill.>"

The Wasp tucks her wings in tight to adjust her flight path downwards, then explodes into motion as fast as she can possibly fly. Insects can move fairly quickly and combined with the razor focus of a human intellect, Janet can keep up with just about anyone. She lines up an angle at his right shoulderblade, waits until he throws a bundle of knives backwards again, and then launches herself at full size right for the Ripper. There's nothing fancy about Janet's angle, just slapping a palm through the air to give him an ungodly amount of electric shock therapy.

Clea has posed:
<"He does sound like an asshole."> Clea states with a dip of her head to that. She's been hit with one of the blades, but, she doesn't really pay it too much mind. She heals at an eccelerated rate, so she doesn't have to worry. She double checks that the wards and things are secure, so that when they finally do get Jack on the Quinjet it won't slip out. She'd get him out of the body that he possessed back home.

Natasha and Bucky's shots are wearing him down and he doesn't see Janet come in with her tiny, but mighty, zap!

His brain shorts out and he starts to wobble. All of his limbs going awry and he looks like he might just stumble onto the jet himself, but he probably needs help with that!

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would move to keep up with the shots, even now as she goes to fire off something different - as Jack is seeming to not be nimble or quick, she doesn't switch out for the candlestick. The latest round fired is a large mesh net aimed at him from a larger gun. It's launched by pellet, erupting in the air while he's off balance to hopefully at least /partially/ catch around him to keep his limbs partially tangled to let Janet and Bucky go for the takedown!

James Barnes has posed:
The net flies ahead of Bucky as he picks up the pace, slamming into and wrapping around Jack just before Bucky's just there, sweeping his legs out from underneath him. Though before Jack can hit the ground, Bucky's grabbed hold of him again and bodily tosses him onto the Quinjet. Maybe a bit of rough handling. Just a smidge.

"Hope nothing in your luggage was fragile," he says to Natasha, before stalking his way up the ramp towards where Jack has landed to confront him in case he's recovered from the quick smash-and-grab.

Janet van Dyne has posed:
Janet darts past Bucky's face and lands on the other side of Jack's prone form, going to full size again. She reaches out with a grimace as if handling something distasteful, and grabs the back of his neck with a hard grip.

"Listen, Bucky's got this whole thing about 'taking you alive', but I think he's getting soft," Janet warns Jack. "So here's my counteroffer: you move and I'll hit you with so much bioelectricity you'll think you licked the third rail. -Stay down-," she orders him.

As Clea, Nats, and Bucky close in, she looks up at the others and flashes a beaming smile completely out of place with the harsh tone she'd spoken to Jack with. "Go team, great work. Clea, Bucky, you want to rough him up a little before we take him into custody? I won't narc on you," she promises them.

Clea has posed:
Clea is actually running a little behind and the last one to get to the Quinjet. She sounds...winded. Which is completely out of character for her. "If anyone wants to break his legs I've got no problem with that." she tells the group. "Thank you guys for the help on this." she tells them.

Wesley/Jack for the moment just lays where he is. He doesn't even take the chance to try to rip himself out of the body he's stolen. "I'll go with you. Though whatever you do to me is nothing like what Dormammu will do when he learns of my failure." he states in a grim tone. Fun!

Clea shakes her head, "You've got more than Dormammu to deal with here. You have dead girls to account for." she tells him. She assists with getting the possessed one into the warded area and then goes to find her place to sit looking much more pale than she usually does. But she's quiet the whole way back to New York and the Mansion.
