Enter the Reanimen!
Date of Scene: 31 July 2023
Location: New York Harbor Docks
Synopsis: She-Hulk, Huntress and Golden Eagle stop a pair of ReAnimen from rampaging on the New York City Docks!
Cast of Characters: Mark Grayson, Jennifer Walters, Helena Bertinelli, Yaretzi Acama

Mark Grayson has posed:
It is nearing sundown at the docks of New York. As ships come into be unloaded and loaded, the hustle and bustle at the US Customs office is a ship that had come in and doesn't seem to have the proper paperwork to arrive. A lawyer was needed and someone saw a sign that suggested:

'If your hopes of freedom Falter - call Jennifer Walters!'

Among the ship's cargo that is being held up is some new cybernetic tech that is from a WayneTech subsidiary - new, cutting edge tech form of a way to restore the abilities of touch and even sight or taste! Tech, that if in the wrong hands, could lead to trouble.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Customs law is a little bit out of Jennifer's purview but that kind of thing hasn't stopped her before from meeting up with somebody who's reaching out to her for help. The least she could do is listen to their case and suggest somebody better suited to the job. Of course if it's something meta human related, odds are she'll pick up the case and teach herself a new branch of law. She's done it before, after all.

So she arrives on the scene in her business suit. A simple affair consisting of a charcoal grey straight skirt, a matching jacket and a cream button up blouse. She finds her way to the customs office and asks, "Hi. I'm looking for Frank Delacourte? He's expecting me."

Helena Bertinelli has posed:
Huntress doesn't tend to make her presence known in NYC. Usually. But there was a tip. Isn't there always?

Waiting in the shadows atop one of the large harbor cranes, the dark-clad vigilante watches the ship come in and then. Nothing. Why weren't they unloading? Something was clearly wrong.

Not one to let others take the initiative, she fires a crossbow bolt at the harber and custom's office building. On impact its surveillance package goes active to give her audio from inside. Someone in there has to know what's going on.

Mark Grayson has posed:
Hearing the arrival of Jennifer, Frank waves the manifest. "It's my favorite lawyer!" he calls out. "Look, I don't know what you know about it, but this ship doesn't have anything in it's logs about some dead people." He waves the manifest at the ship. "Three of 'em! They all spruced up with these weird looking helmets and cybernetic parts, like sometype of Robocop knockoff."

As Frank is talking, there is a large *CLANG* that comes from within the hold of the ship. It rattles and hollows throughout the ship before the metal creaks and groans before tearing open. A human figure comes leaping out and lands on the deck, smashing several crates that were set up.

The top of his head is covered in a large helmet with a red glowing 'eye' in the middle of it while his mouth is pulled into a creepy like smile. His torso is human, but both his arms and legs are removed and replaced with cybernetics. He cries in angry agony before grabbing one of the crates and chucks it a nearby truck, where it slams into the side of it, crushing the aluminum side and falling with.

From the top of the ship, there's a cry as a shiphand is thrown overboard, landing in the water as another such creature shows up. He yanks a barrel and hurls it skywards, flying far enough away where if crashes into a street in Spanish Harlem, hitting a parked car and setting off it's alarm.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle's out 'flying patrol' in the area of East Harlem, aka Spanish Harlem. She gone out her way to extend her patrol area a bit outside her usual stomping grounds, because it's been quiet, so far. She's too far away, as a result, to be able to actually catch the barrel before it hits the car and sets off the alarm, but she did see where it came from -- and the way it came makes her think there's something happening that should get her direct attention. Angling her flight path thataway, she finds herself, before long, flying over the docks.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jennifer blinks as Frank explains the situation to her. "That //is// odd. I think I'll be more of use here as an Avenger than a lawyer." She gives the man a reassuring grin and grips his shoulder. "Don't worry. I'll take a look and see what we've got here. If something goes wrong I'll bring the rest of the team in."

And then something goes wrong. At the sound of the crate being forcibly opened she rushes to the window to see it being flung at a truck by a cyber zombie. "Oh, hell," she grumbles. Turning to Frank, she pulls off her heels and hands them over to him. "Hold onto these for me, please." She then pauses, sighs resignedly, and rips her leg hugging skirt up one side to give her legs some freedom of movement. "Yet another suit gone."

She rushes out of the building and when she gets within earshot of the cyber zombie she shouts out, "Hey! Can you understand me? We can get you help if you need it." It's probably not going to work. It hardly ever does, but you've got to at least try to resolve things peaceably.

Helena Bertinelli has posed:
Listening in, Huntress frowns. Dead bodies? That.. wasn't on the manifest. Hearing that there is an Avenger down there, well, that probably will help. Considering the chaos that has just begun to be off-loaded from the ship in question.

"..never a dull moment" she murmurs as she fires a grapple line and descends (Controlled falling) rapidly to get involved.

Timing being everything, Huntress lands with her cape flowing out behind her just as Jennifer emerges from the offices to talk to the .. zombie?

"Does that ever work? Asking for a friend." Then more seriously the masked vigilante nods to She-Hulk. "Also, hi. Huntress. Usually in Gotham. But these are interesting times."

Mark Grayson has posed:
Jennifer-- now She-Hulk is very successful in getting the attention of the first cyber-zombie. She gets to name it, since she was the first one to make contact! It head twists around to face the Avenger and it roars -- that is neither a 'yes' or a 'no' for the record as it launches on it's cybernetic legs and coming at her at a high speed in a preperation to throw a wild haymaker at the green guardian! And if the punch connects, she'll realize that it hits like a truck at full speed.

The second zombie, the one of the top of the ship, notices the two heroes that are harassing the first zombie and it grabs another barrel to fling down at Helena before raising it's arms in the air and howling manically, pounding at his chest as he looks for more barrels to chuck down at the pair -- particularlly Huntress, since she's unengaged at the moment.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
She's got a decent idea but isn't sure exactly *where* she's going, but as she flies over the docks, Golden Eagle figures this has to be the place, as there's... bionic zombies? Wow! ... and She-Hulk, and... Bat Woman, maybe? She can't help but fan-girl a little bit, while up in the air, before her feet flip upwards and she dives down to intercept the first barrel that's been flung at Huntress by simply punching it to smithereens in the air. She comes to a hovering stop right there, turning to face the thrower.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
"More often than you'd think," She-Hulk says. "Sometimes all people want is somebody on their side." She gives the woman a grin and says, "Jennifer Walters. She-Hulk. A pleasure to meet you. Wish it was under better circumstances."

Her cheerful banter is interrupted by the cyber zombie swinging at her. "Incoming!" she shouts, warning Huntress to step back from the wildly swinging enemy. She raises her arms to block the punch and when it connects, she lets out a grunt and skids back a few feet. "Do //not// get punched by these guys," she says, shaking out the sting she feels in her arms from the punch. "See if you can take out the head. I'll keep it occupied."

With that, she takes a practiced swing at the cyber zombie, aiming for it's very fleshy gut. She's not particularly holding back, either since she wants to end this before it gets any worse.

Helena Bertinelli has posed:
"Everyone has bad days" Huntress conceeds if a bit doubtfully.

As the first Cyberzombie charges at She-Hulk, there is no need to warn her twice. Rolling quickly to the side, she springs up, cross bows raising as it is suggested to head-shot them. Makes sense. But then the other zombie throws a barrel at her.

"That's not good." There is a moment, but only one, for her to calculate whether shooting it will do anything useful. As she concludes that the sum of that equation is a solid 'no', the flying form of Golden Eagle takes care of the problem. With a nod she offers, "Thanks!" then turns back toward Shulkie and the first zombie.

Taking a quick step to the side for better aim she warns, "Firing!" He lets loose three bolts aimed toward the head and that cybernetic helmet.

Bruce Wayne probably has more.

Mark Grayson has posed:
The smashed barrel causes the zombie to howl out again as it looks for something heavier to throw at the newly arrived Golden Eagle. With nothing exactly nearby -- until he sees the ship's captain in hiding. Grabbing the captain, it twists and hurls the human at the Hispanic Heroine, using something she /can't/ punch!

She-Hulk's rush at the first zombie gets its attention as the zombie howls with the punch to the gut - but it doesn't give way. There's something clearly beneath the flesh that is keeping the being together, but it does spit out a mass of blood with the heavy punch that She-Hulk landed. In return, it attempts to grab the woman by the shoulders and use it's armored head to slam into Shulkie over and over again.

The tactfully fired bolts from Huntress slam into the side of the head and the helmet dents in, but does not appear to be breaking. Though one of the shots does manage to hit one of the hidden hinges that has the helmet latched around the head of the human within. From her angle, Huntress can see on the back shoulder of the creature attacking She-Hulk is a tattoo of a skull wearing a beret with a bayonet running through it - a mark of the Special Forces.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle calls down, "No problem! I'll... holy moley!", with the last bit that she says escaping her when she sees a person's been thrown her way. She flies towards the ship's captain, then 'skids' to a stop in the air and reverses direction, so that when the man's body collides with hers, it's at a considerably slower speed than it otherwise might've been... then flies down to put him down. "That one's throwing *people*!", she exlaims.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
*Slam!* *Slam!* *Slam!* "Ow!" *Slam!* Slam!* "Stop it!" *Slam! Slam! Slam!* "I said, ENOUGH!" She-Hulk isn't really hurt by the headbutts, save for a trickle of green blood from her nose. They certainly got her attention though.

She falls back on her Amazonian combat training and goes to break the grapple by bringing her arms up between its and then twisting around to grab its shoulders. Shen then starts pulling its arms like Stretch Armstrong. Usually these cybernetic joints aren't built to withstand the kind of pulling strength a Hulk can produce.

She spares a glance up at Golden Eagle. "Good thing you're there to catch them!"

Helena Bertinelli has posed:
So far Huntress has yet to get into direct combat. Not that she can't, but these guys? Probably going to require a more deft hand than going in straight as a plain-jane human, seeing what the thing is doing to She-Hulk.

As the helmet comes unlocked, she fires off two more quick bolts.

"It's got a Special Forces tattoo" she notes before closing in. She doesn't get so close that She-Hulk will have to worry much about avoiding her, but close enough to deploy her collapsible staff to jam between the zombie's legs and (hopefully) trip it up enough for Shulkie to take it the rest of the way down.

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Oh god, oh god, thank you!" the captain manages as he's caught and set upon the ground by Golden Eagle. That one is not just throwing people, it's throwing /itself/. Flinging itself from the top of the ship, just as the ship's captain is thanking Golden Eagle, attempting to slam into her and start punching her as hard as he can with those heavy punches that were causing damage to She-Hulk earlier.

Slamming his head into She-Hulk again, he tries to bite down on the woman before she manages to break the grip and starts to twist its arms as the metal and carbon groans and sparks. The zombie doesn't stop fighting though, instead, he starts to try to bring its legs up between itself and She-Hulk and push his knees into her well-toned abs.

Huntress's bolts slam into the helmet, causing the other latch to break and fall away. The red light in the middle of the helmet dims and shuts off, as its legs limpen, allowing Huntress to get the legs loose and with the creature no longer actively trying to fight, She-Hulk manages to rip its arms off. It howls again, but this time, as he goes down and the helmet comes off, exposing eyes that have been left permamently open, there could be a hiss of a sigh ... of relief? ... slumps down full, neutralized by She-Hulk and Huntress.

One down, one to go.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle can't help but smile brightly at what She-Hulk says... She-Hulk spoke to her, after all! "I'll do my best!", she says as she makes sure the ship's captain is safely on the ground. "No problem, sir! Get out of here til we've cleared things up, okay?", she says to him, her feet already coming off the ground as she's floating, again. That done, she flits back up into the air and towards the ship to see what, if anything, else is being tossed her way... only to get slammed into by the bionic zombie that, well, threw itself.

The air can be heard getting slammed out of Golden Eagle's lungs as she gets hit, the momentum of the flying tackle she's taken carrying her, and the bionic zombie, backwards and across the dockyard into a shipping container. From the way the container dents inwards from the impact, it looks like it was empty.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
She-Hulk grunts as the cyber zombie tries to pry itself out of the grip that she has on it, but is still able to hang on. When the last bolt hits its mark and the zombie goes lip, she finally tears its arms off. "Whew!" she says, dropping the arms and gives Huntress an appreciative nod. "Thanks for the assist."

She watches as the other cyber zombie goes flying across the yard, taking Golden Eagle with it. "Crap!" she says when she sees her impact the shipping container. "I hope she's got some superhuman durability." She rushes over to where they landed and grabs the cyber zombie to pull it off of Golden Eagle before it could do any damage.

"Call an ambulance!" She says, shouting over at Huntress. "I don't think anybody's hurt too badly, but I want one on the scene just in case."

Helena Bertinelli has posed:
Huntress nods to She-Hulk. "Thanks for keeping it busy!" is her come-back.

And there is still one more to go. And it's just taken itself and the flying heroine into a container.

Wincing at the thought of that impact, she breaks into a run, following the faster Avenger. Reaching up she taps an earcomm. "Need medical support. East Harlem docks." Thinking on it mid-run, she adds, "Better send a hazmat team, too."

Knowing that She-Hulk is the heavy hitter, Huntress slows to peek the perimeter secured, to keep any dock workers or gawkers from trying to get too close. Still she spares glances toward the fight in case there is a clear shot she can take. Knowing how the first helmet came off, she has a better idea where to aim this time.

Mark Grayson has posed:
As Golden Eagle is used to batter the side of the shipping container, the ReAniman is using this to his advantage as he slams his fists into the heroine time and time again, trying to wail on her time and time again. And would keep doing so if it wasn't for She-Hulk grappling it from behind. It kicks at Golden Eagle and it's head tils around. From the bright red helmet open, it fires off a heavy laser that sizzles and slices through the air and metal as it tries to hit anything it can get a look at him.

The call is acknowledged from the EMS unit as it sends out radio call to send out medical and hazmat teams.

And while it's firing it's laser, it finally fizzles out and the helmet hisses while it tries to recharge, opening itself to be fired upon when it thrashes, trying to slam its helmet into She-Hulk's already bloodied face.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle groans, having done her best to defend herself by bringing up her arms between her face and chest and the Reaniman's fists, when he's pulled off her by She-Hulk. She doens't look too bad off for having been hit so hard, but she very clearly felt it and had the wind knocked out of her. When she sees it's grappled, she scowls... and turns and basically does a kind of half hand-stand to do a two-footed 'mule kick' aimed at her attacker's head.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
"Oh, no you don't," She-Hulk says as the cyber zombie tries to bas its head into her face. She adjust her grip on it to get it into a kind of head lock, which will take care of two problems. One, it'll keep the zombie from smashing her in the face, and two, it'll keep its head pointed firmly on the ground so when that laser goes off all that'll happen is that the dock will need to do a bit of repaving.

"Good to see you're okay," she grunts, as she wrestles with the cyber zombie. "I was worried there for a sec."

Helena Bertinelli has posed:
As the laser shoots out Huntress steps back. "Whoa.." If it can shoot where it looks, that's not good for anyone, right? Then the helmet fizzles and needs to recharge or something.

That opening is enough. Huntress fires a bolt that slams into one hinge. "She-Hulk, pry it's helmet off! That stopped the other one!" Because why try trick shots when one of the world's strongest women can just pry the thing off.

Pretty sure not even WayneTech is strong enough to stop that from happening.

Mark Grayson has posed:
The mule-kick from Golden Eagle loosens the helmet as the creature is knocked back into She-Hulk, who manages to get a tight grip on the creature and it's helmet. It's not going anywhere for the moment, even as it tries to punch at She-Hulk and kick at Golden Eagle, though both of those are proving rather futile.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle is a little constrained, still pretty much in the 'dent' that's in the side of the shipping container. Hearing what Huntress has said, though, she rights herself and reaches out to grab at the ReAniman's helmet, yanking at it as if trying to pull it of his head. She almost certainly doesn't have the level of strength She-Hulk possesses, but she's still plenty strong and is in a pretty good position to grab and pull!

Jennifer Walters has posed:
"Will do!" She-Hulk calls out to Huntress, but it looks like Golden Eagle has that taken care of, so she uses her considerable strength to keep the ReAniman restrained to make it easier for her. "Careful that laser doesn't fire off again!" she cautions. It seems that Golden Eagle can take a punch, but she's not so sure about a blast like that.

Helena Bertinelli has posed:
As the other two seemt o get a handle on the final ending of the zombie, Huntress turns to keep an eye for the emergency responders. She keeps her crossbows in hand. Just in case. But it really seems like this is close to finished.

Right?

Mark Grayson has posed:
The helmet creaks and cracks and finally comes free, pulled off by Golden Eagle. Like the other ReAniman, this one slumps against She-Hulk, becoming silent and still. Clearly, whatever was running these things was in the helmet.

Somewhere, miles away, a figure shuts down his computer. "That did not go as expected." D. A. Sinclair says to himself as he makes a copy of the video of the fight. "If anything, it did better! It stood up to She-Hulk!" comes the excited rejoinder as he finishes making his notes and creates an email.

Typing away, he finishes the draft and moves to the address line.

To: A.Waller@....

Send is clicked.

Back at the docks, the emergency vehicles arrive to start to clean up the mess and load the two ReAnimen on gurneys. What happened to the third, though? When the ship is inspected -- it's nowhere to be found - it's escape was done through the starboard of the ship and it just... walked away?

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Tossing the helmet aside, Golden Eagle lets her feet touch down -- she's been floating ever since that mule kick she lashed out with. Wrapping one arm around her chest, she winces. "Ow... don't think I've been hit that hard, before", she says aloud, but in a way that says she's mostly talking to herself.

But, then, she's standing in front of She-Hulk... and, now that she's getting a better look at her up close, that's Huntress, not Bat Woman. "Hi", she says, though it sounds pained (probably because of how she took that wicked tackle). "It's awesome to meet you!", she adds, smiling even past the pain she's feeling. "I've only ever seen you two on TV!"

Jennifer Walters has posed:
"Are you alright?" Jen asks, dropping the ReAniman. She does look rather concerned about Golden Eagle's health. "Those things could really pack a punch." She wipes her nose clear of the small line of blood that had leaked from it. "It even made me bleed a little bit. No small feat."

She gives Golden Eagle a grin, though. "I'm hard to miss," she says. "But it's good to meet you. I didn't catch your name though...?"

Helena Bertinelli has posed:
Huntress looks to the two other heroines. "Well this wasn't what I expected. At all. Good thing you two here here. It would have been dicey." Plain Jane human vs She-Hulk and Flying Lady. Yeah. Definitely harder.

"Maybe I'll see you ladies around. This bears more investigation." With a nod, she fires a grapple line and disappears into the Harlem night sky. Not nearly as stealthy as Batman but hey, others are already following his path.
