Silks at SHIELD
Date of Scene: 06 August 2023
Location: Main Foyer: Triskelion
Synopsis: Cindy comes to her first day at SHIELD and hangs with MJ and Jessica Drew.
Cast of Characters: Mary Jane Watson, Cindy Moon, Jessica Drew

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
It's very, very rare that Mary Jane gets to hang with someone she 'knows' at her day job. So she's pulled a couple of strings (not that hard, no one wants to get stuck with tour duties) to go ahead and meet up with Silk. Upon the arranged time, Mary Jane is jogging out to meet the Spider, wearing an on-duty uniform with a -massive- basterd sword strapped over her back.

Cindy Moon has posed:
The ink wasn't even dry yet.

Actually, there wasn't even all that much signing, at this point (and none of it was actually using ink). Cindy had filled out the NDA and SHIELD had done enough background on her to make sure she wasn't HYDRA, AIM, or anyone else that was at that crazy auction (or any of the other varied and sundry other entities that might wish to do SHIELD harm).

After that, the first step of the 'recruitment phase' was assigning someone to give Cindy a tour. It was a multi-pronged approach. It gave the new recruit a chance to either get excited or scared (and bail before they wasted any more time), and it gave them time to do the more /thorough/ background check before they moved onto the equipment assignment and training steps.

Hooray bureaucracy.

But, actually, it seemed like bureaucracy was working out in her favor this time, because when Cindy looks over from a 'NO EATING, NO DRINKING, NO SMOKING, NO RUNNING, NO EXPLOSIVES, NO CHEMICAL AGENTS...' (there were more) sign, she beams at the sight of Mary Jane (and sword) and waves.

She's dressed just as Cindy today (because Silk doesn't have any verifiable identification with which to apply to SHIELD), a green blouse, black slacks, and black flats.

"MJ! Have you read this sign? Do they let you guys have /any/ fun?"

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would give a wave over at Cindy and head on in her direction, "Hey there Webra!" She would jog towards her. "Got all the forms filled out? Did they let you get away with telling them that parts of your background were classified and they didn't have the authorization to view it?" If anyone would think that was a good enough bad idea to do it, Cindy totally would.

Then again, did her Silk sense warn her when doing something would end badly? Given the way Parker luck worked, ther wasn't the slightest way that could be viable. And she was very sure that Cindy was on par with Peter when it came to that. "Good to have you with us. I have to say, of all my friensd that I thought would ever go legit, you weren't high on the list." she would offer her hand over to shake and then fistbump. Not sure where the other girl stood when it came to comfort levels so not pushing it.

"There are a lot of benefits to here like you would not believe. Namely free food. And you can have as much of it as you want. There's a huge cafeteria. A very, very large cafeteria. They even let you take things back with you."

REemmbering first where Spider priorities lay.

Jessica Drew has posed:
Standing a pace behind Mary Jane, a dark-haired woman in a black suit and heels, nods her head in greeting, sizing the newest recruit up. Jess green eyes widen slightly at the comment about part of the new recruit having a background too classified for SHIELD intake. She remains silent, though one side of her mouth crooks up when food is mentioned.

"The facilities are very comfortable, the gym and pool are adapted to use by every sort imaginable. Hello," she adds, nearly smiling and extending her hand. "My name is Jessica Drew and I will be tagging along with you both for the orientation."

Cindy Moon has posed:
"Yep! I totally put down that the whole radioactive-bite thing was strictly top secret, ultra-classified, Nick Fury eyes-only! Also, that it made the top of my foot itch for like... days."

Beat.

"The guy got a good laugh out of it. Then he finished reading it all anyway and told me they'd let me know." Cindy shrugs, still grinning a little. "Can't blame a girl for trying to be a little mysterious, right?"

At the mention of going legit, she makes a little 'pfft' sound. "Girl, I've been fetching coffee at the Daily Planet for like a year. I've /been/ legit. This way I just get to combine the legit and the non-legit. So, the way I see it, this is an upgrade!"

She does the not-so-secret hand dance-shake-bump with MJ. But wait. Did she just say unlimited free food?

"Did you just say unlimited free food? I am soooooo in. If I hadn't already signed some stuff, I would definitely sign some stuff right now."

It's then that Jessica speaks up and her attention shifts without surprise, because she'd /totally/ seen her standing there the whole time.

"Nice! I'll try not to trash the gym." Organic webbing made a mess. "And, hi! I'm Cindy Moon." She extends a hand to shake the one offered. Then her eyes are shifting back to MJ.

"Soooooo... does the tour start in the cafeteria, orrrrrr?"

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would give a wave over at Jess, "Hey there, Spy-der, this is Spider. Guess I'm just the ordinary one here." She was the one that hadn't been genetically rewritten by an arachnid. She was just possessed by the spirit of a long dead warrior woman. That was completely ordinary.

"Also they have actual lab facilities here. You won't have to make your webbing in something you scrounged from a high school lab when they were selling things." By 'selling' she means 'threw it out in a dumpster' but putting it with more dignity.

Presuming that Cindy started out the way Peter had.. Mary Jane looks very, very smug with herself. "Not sure you two have met or not." She would jab her finger from Jessica to Cindy. "Jess is the veteran here, she can show you where has all the good snacks and junk food. ANd Daily Planet? And intern? SO you spend your time getting coffee and donuts? Is Perry anything like Jameson? OR do they speak of him in harsh, terrified whispers?"

Gesturing at hte two. "And since we had our request, cafeteria it is." Cindy had asked nicely and Mary Jane had opened wiht that!

Jessica Drew has posed:
Amusement sparks in Jessica's eyes and in the faint twist of her lips. The agent had come down to join MJ expressly because of Cindy's background. Head tilted to one side, Her British accent coming to the fore, the agent observes, "Likely it is all in your file. Little mysteries are rather frowned upon in some circles here. Going legit is another matter entirely." The amusement nearly becomes a smile, "We seem to specialize in agents with 'interesting' backgrounds. You'll fit right in."

With a nod to MJ, "Right, then cafeteria it is! They do a good job. Even the tea is decent if you like that sort of thing."

Cindy Moon has posed:
"Oh, you're Spidery, too?! I go by Silk. Partially because Spider-Woman was already taken by the time I decided on a name, and partially because I'm... a little different."

Cindy smiles a little at the lab comments, just giving a shake of her head. "Oh, I don't..."

How to explain it? Show and tell, probably. She moved one hand over towards Mary Jane's wrist, and just touching her with an index finger, a moment later she had a pretty white cuff bracelet that was rigid like plastic rather than sticky. Then held up that hand and, out of her bare fingertips, webbing forms hard point-like talons on every finger.

"We don't really know why. Same spider and everything, which is crazy. Not to mention the /other/ side-effects." She told MJ about those, right? The /draw/ she has to Peter, the fact that she just sort of /knows/ where he is anywhere in the multiverse, and the fact that being near him can be problematic because her hormones go all topsy-turvey. So, she tends to avoid Peter for that reason.

Aaaaanyway...

Perry!

"I mean, definitely not like Jameson, but it sorta depends on his mood? He loves Lois Lane, even though they shout at each other sometimes. But for an intern that stays in trouble... you've seen the T-Rex in Jurassic Park, right?" Nuff said.

She smiles at Jessica, though. "Good, because I am at a complete loss with what to do about the whole secret identity and costume thing. I don't really want the entire planet going after my parents, you know? And, I sort of might possibly already have a growing list of people that hate me. Some of which are /super/ new to the club, so that's exciting. I haven't even gotten them their welcome packets, yet. They all get matching anger-face buttons to wear. It's adorable."

Then she's ready to follow along, happily looking around as she walks.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would go to hold her hand over as Cindy would reach to it, mimicking the position. "Thwip it. Thwip it good." She would deadpan over and glance down. "Well, you each got a litlte different nibble. YOu could ask the Spider, probably. I'm sure that it could tell you which of you tasted better?" She would offer Cindy cheekily.

"And I've just had to learn that you can't figure out everything. Not everything ever has an explanation, a reason.. Thigns can be just the way because they are. Fate, destiny.. Don't call it those as it'll drive her crazy." By 'her' she meant her 'other'.

But yes, Peter and Cindy had it very complicated. "And you're looking at it from the wrong perspective. It's a measure of how awesome you are by the number of people that say your name and then go 'I SHALL HAVE MY VENGEANCE' after it! It's a tier of accomplishments."

As Cindy would go on 'anger face buttons's he would erupt in laughter. "And Spyder is right, we have lots of interesting folks here. Magicians, cyborgs, demons, fae.. Those are among the more ordinary types I guess."

Jessica Drew has posed:
After watching the webbing demonstration, keeping her wrists turned into the side of her skirt, Jessica nods several times affirming their similarities though nothing had come from her to suggest it. So, she recognized her for being a Spider, Jess stocks that little tidbit away for the debriefing that will surely follow. The newest recruit has hyper-senses that some call Spider Sense. How else to explain her exclamation?

"Metabolism? Not all of us are the same. Part of our mystery. Vive la difference! None of us keep a secret identity in-house, so to speak. Outside is another matter. That's entirely up to your discretion."

Cindy Moon has posed:
"I'm... pretty sure the spider's dead." Cindy's eyes go wide. "Necro-spider." Then there's a little shake of her head. "Please tell me this facility has protections to keep random ideas from making it up into the ether for new bad guys to grab. We do not need to fight an army of necro-spiders."

Fate.. destiny. "She just really doesn't like stripper names or being told she has no free will?" Cindy smiles innocently, and her mask wasn't even hiding it! It was kind of nice to be out of costume and hanging out for a little while.

She nods at Jessica's comment and explanation about the secret identity. "That helps a lot to manage expectations," she says. Then when the other woman excuses herself, says her goodbyes and re-focuses on MJ.

Her smile grows at the vengeance comment and then she's nodding at the list of interesting folks. "You know what? Free food. Interesting people. I think I'm going to like it here..."
