How about a Schwimmity-Swim
Date of Scene: 03 November 2023
Location: Roof - Titan's Tower
Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: Caitlin Fairchild, Irie West, Wally West, Xiomara Rojas

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
It's technically a little too late in the season to be swimming outdoors. The cold wind coming off the Atlantic makes for damp and chilly days, even when the sun is out. The Titans are among the fortunate few with a fully climate-controlled rooftop. The saltwater pool is heated from below and infra-red lamps arranged over the rooftop make it fairly comfortable, save for the occasional gust of wind that sneaks over the low rooftop fence.

Caitlin is in the pool, swimming laps. The big Olympic-size pool doesn't provide much of a challenge for the redhead, who can kick off the wall and be halfway down the lane before taking a few lazy strokes with her arms. She comes up for air after doing several laps back-and-forth underwater, surfacing with a gasp and brushing water from her fair features. With a swim cap and her grey sport-swimsuit she looks like a shoe-in for a college swim team.

Irie West has posed:
By the time Caitlin surfaces, Irie is there, sitting up on the roof, looking up into the sky. It's a little late, but that's okay. She runs on five hours of sleep anyway, so staying up late and getting up early is pretty par for the course for her. She's bundled up for the cold, wearing a sweater over which the leather jacket Donna gave her for her birthday is worn. In her lap is her laptop, open and running, though she's not really paying attention to it.

When Cait surfaces, she breaks out into a grin. "Hi Cait!" she cheerfully calls out to her. "Thought I'd do a little homework under the stars. Got bored doing them in my room. How're things?"

Wally West has posed:
It must be nice swimming laps. So delicate, so peaceful, like not a cafe in the world exists out there in the-

There's a red blur as Wally West sprints towards the pool.

"I'm coming in! Hey Irie, hey Cait!" He kicks off his sandals and lifts his shirt over his head, now dressed only in knee-length swim trunks as he runs towards the water with a sudden leap, his knees tucking into his chest. "YAHOOO!" And he'll try and hit the water with a cannonball!

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Originally Crush was going to the roof to work on her home work, however upon arriving she sees that there is a collection of Titans present, two of whom are in the pool.

Slinging her backpack off her shoulder she walks over to the chairs by the pool and just sits down. She seems lost in thought, staring off into nothing, but comes around to focus on Irie.

"Hey guys, how you all doing?" she asks, eyes on Irie, staying there. "Didn't think anyone would be up here, got homework to do... but it can wait."

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin yelps when she realizes she has company, and dives back underwater immediately just as Wally launches himself over her head.

Because she isn't a fish, she can't stay under for TOO long, and resurfaces with just her head and shoulders peeking out of the water. "Golly, you guys could warn a gal," she grumbles good-naturedly. "Is this a late-night cram session or something? I thought I'd be the only one up here tonight," she explains, and paddles over until she can rest her elbows on the concrete lip of the pool. "How's the homework coming, anyway?"

Irie West has posed:
"Gosh. Oh no. I am being distracted from doing my homework," Irie says in a deadpan voice to Crush, shutting the laptop's lid. When Wally goes in for a cannonball, she hugs it protectively to keep it from getting wet. "Dad! No! You're gonna soak my laptop!"

She shrugs to Cait. "It's coming along. It's mostly busywork which is just //boring//, but I gotta do it anyway if I wanna keep my grades up." She grins, "I can't wait to get into the higher levels of classes but that's, like, //years// from now, so I gotta put up with this."

Wally West has posed:
Popping his head out of the water, Wally's red hair curtains his face almost completely and he moves the sheen of hair out of his eyes so the green orbs can be visible! He turns to Cait with a cheeky smile. "Why would we do that? Just takes the joy out of the surprise!" He looks at Irie. "Theoretical metaphysics right? Geez, kid, you're smarter than I'll ever be. I'm proud of you for working so hard." He smiles at her.

"Just think about the silver lining! If the computer gets soaked, you can swim and I can buy you a new one!" He laughs, turning to Crush. "Sup Crush! Ooh, you got a Kit Kat?"

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Getting more comfortable, Crush sets the pack on the ground beside the chair and just leaves it there. She wasn't entirely certain if Caitlin was talking to her or Irie, or both for that matter, so she offered a, "Pretty easy stuff really, getting through all the required classes first. A lot of reading, writing, and boring cra... stuff like that. I should be done with the classes curriculum by March."

Glancing toward Wally for a moment, she bends to fish into her pack. Moving a few things around she pulls out a king sized Twix, then a king sized Reese and finally, "Yes! You're in luck." she pulls out the king sized Kit Kat... of course they are all the biggest size possible. The Kit Kat is tossed to Wally in the pool.

Hey Irie, a water proof covering would help father induced laptop soakings.... or let him get your a new one," she grins. "New computers are awesome."

She finally wanders her eyes in Caitlin's direction. "I guess it's one of those nights, people hanging out in the open. If you want, I could get your towel or robe for you, I mean if you want to get out of the pool."

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
"I'd appreciate that," Caitlin admits of Crush's offer. "I'm pretty much done swimming, anyway. I was going a bit stir-crazy and had to take a study break." When the clothing is brought over, Caitlin hops out of the pool with one hand and quickly accepts the towel from Crush. She faces modestly away from the others while drying off as fast as she can, then removes her swimcap and whips her hair up tucked into the towel so she can shrug into her fuzzy pink bathrobe.

"You think you've got it bad," Caitlin tells Irie, "wait until Wally hits organic chemistry. That's the make-or-break for most chemists. But, it's mandatory for anyone going into chemical or medical sciences," she says with a shrug, and belts her robe around her waist. The rope is surely custom made, as it fits properly and covers Caitlin from her chin to her shins.

Irie West has posed:
"But all my stuff is on it!" Irie complains. "Besides, it's one of the first things that Donna got me when I went back in time." She hugs the laptop protectively before inching away from the pool to set it down somewhere safe.

"If you //really// want to get me something, there's a new set of Ahsoka minis that Maddie and I haven't gotten yet," she says, her eyes lighting up. "It's got Jacen and Thrawn which we haven't seen before so it'd be pretty cool to paint them up."

She wrinkles her nose. "Yeah. I heard horror stories about organic chemistry. But dad's smarter than he looks, so he'll be just fine."

Wally West has posed:
"Yes! You rule." Wally calls to Xiomara as she manages to bet the chocolate bar over to Wally, who catches it effortlessly and immediately begins snacking on it. "Thanks Crush! Was starting to get a little lightheaded. You're a lifesaver." He turns to Caitlin. "Whoa, whoa...you took a /break/? Without me telling you to?" He looks Caitlin up and down, front ways and sideways. "Did the real you get abducted?" He jokes but as soon as she gets out of the water his cheeks flush a bright red and he turns his head away from her to let her get into robes and all comfy-like.

"Well, jokes on you, I really enjoy chemistry, even the hard stuff. I think I can get it, even if it's more like a 'C's get Degrees' mentality." Wally was no genius, least in his own kind. He's not genetically altered for intelligence nor does he have a honed and practical mind. He's impatient and reckless, but he's clever too. Maybe it'll make the difference?

His eyes find Irie as she compliments him and he chuckles. "You're being nice to me." He brushes it off only a little, only because he hasn't found that confidence. Not yet. Though he tilts his head.

"Deal. When are we going to the mall?"

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Taking a look around, Crush grabs the towel and robe from where they were sitting and moves to offer them to Caitlin. She holds the towel out first, while looking away toward Wally, then once the towel is taken holds the robe open for Caitlin to just slip into. The entire time she is using her own body to help block view of Caitlin, and looking at Wally. It might seem like she's staring at the man, but really she isn't.

"Did you all know those little grey aliens are real?" she says out of no where, just to add something to the conversation until Caitlin is finished. "Oh hey Irie, remind me to show you my Ewok and Wookie army. I've uh... been painting them for practice."

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin pulls a face at Wally. "Yes, I take breaks. Behavioral scientists have conducted a lot of studies that show that exercise in between study breaks is a great way to improve retention and improve your focus. And I didn't feel like swimming in the bay," she admits. "The water's gross down there." It's true, the water for about a mile around the bay isn't exactly what one would call 'clean'.

Caitlin picks up a SnackyShake(tm) and chugs half of it down in a few big gulps while walking over to where Irie's propped up. She looks over Irie's shoulder with a curious expression. "Oh yeah. Vector diagrams. I know they're super boring but that's really a core component of any experiments you'll design down the road. I had to take it to earn my PE certificate. It comes in handy when you start modelling real-world scenarios," she assures her.

Irie West has posed:
"This weekend," Irie responds. "Caitlin can come, too! And you, too, Crush! We'll make a big day out of it and get all the Titans to go mall hopping. It'll be fun!"

She gasps at Crush. "You paint minis, too? You'll have to come over with me to Maddie's house and we can all paint them together. I mean. I'll have to borrow Bart's rickshaw because she lives in San Francisco now, and I'm still not certified to fly the T-Jet. Oh! I got my drivers license! Billy was teaching me. Do all drivers license tests involve giant robots, or was that just me?"

Caitlin's observation gets a roll of the eyes. "I know, I know, but... //ugh// right? I mean, I get why I have to do it, but that doesn't make it any less of a chore."

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Moving back over to the chair with her pack by it, Crush sits back down as she snorts a quick laugh. "Yeah, Maddie taught me," she admits with a shrug. "I haven't seen here since she moved, kinda miss her." She leaves that topic right there, at least the part regarding Maddie.

"I got the army in storage, but I can get it out to show you," is offered after the Maddie topic, then she sits back in the chair. "I don't have a driver's license, so don't know what goes into the test."

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
"I... think that was just you," Caitlin tells Irie, apologetically. She's pulled her water-strung hair loose from the towel and is hand-drying it against the fluffy blue cloth in her hands. "The hardest part for me was parallel parking. Well, no," she amends, "the hardest part was figuring out how to fit in my car. I finally just took out the front seat and sat in the back. Volkswagons are not designed for someone my size," she says with a dry tone. "Good job that Mister Stark gave me a corporate SUV when I signed on for his senior engineering team. SUVs actually have leg room."

The redhead looks over to Crush and lifts her chin slightly. "Ewoks and Wookies-- are you doing a wargame with those, or just modelling them for the fun of it?" she inquires, curious.

Irie West has posed:
"Oh. Okay. I thought that the giant robot might be part of the test because, you know, it was New York and that kind of thing happens all the time over there," Irie says with a shrug. "I //did// manage to parallel park! It was kinda hurried and it wasn't the best, but my instructor let it pass 'cause... you know... giant robot and everything."

"Oh! Yeah! Star Wars Legion!" she gushes. "That one is cooperative. And there's this new one that's come out that's squad based combat. Called Shatterpoint. We've been saving up for it because everything is //so expensive//. We're getting it mostly for the minis."

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Crush offers the other candy to Irie and Caitlin, in case either of them are feeling peckish or just interested in a sugary treat. "Maddie started me on an ewok," she explains almost too quietly for her normal demeanor, but she realizes that herself and speaks up. "So, I started painting more ewoks. Then I found Wookies, and that's when I finally saw all the movies, and honestly I think the Wookies for a raw deal. I did paint a dragon once, not quite a mini, but it was all for practice and anyway, it was easier to find those two to paint when no one was looking..."

She blinks a few times, realizing first that she admitted it and second that she was talking about the singular hobby that no one knew about... and it all just spilled out so easily, almost comfortably.

"Uh... I drive a motorcycle myself," she says quickly. "Easy to park those, and even if I can't find parking, I just pick it up and move it some place safe."

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
"I never got into minis," Caitlin admits. "I'm more of a gamer girl. I've been playing World of Warcraft for... years," she remarks, narrowly avoiding 'all of my life'. "Though-- why are you buying minis?" she asks the other two girls with a puzzled expression. "We've got a 3D printer in the labs. If you can go online and find the right 3D models, you could make them yourself with whatever customizations you want," she suggests. "If you spend some time practicing I bet you could get really good at using 3D drafting software."

Irie West has posed:
Irie nods to Crush. "Yeah. Wookiees and Ewoks are good beginner models. They're mostly just... brown. You get some wash in there and maybe a bit of details and you're done!"

She just blinks at Caitlin as she suggests that they just //print// their own models. "Oh, yeah! I'm so used to working with Maddie and she doesn't have a 3D printer. I bet I could totally find some cool ones out on the internet somewhere!"

"I don't think I could drive a motorcycle. Dad tried to teach me how to ride a bike but I kept falling over." She shrugs, "Besides. I can just run if I wanna get that 'wind in my hair' feeling, you know?"

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Crush uses the palm of her hand to lightly smack her forehead, then sounding way more excited than she probably should says, "Why the he... lck didn't I think of that?! We could make /anything/ with the 3D printer Irie, in any size we wanted... give wookies their bowcasters or heartlances! Caitlin, that's a brilliant idea."

Making a mental note to first look up 3D schematics, and secondly learn how to use drafting software, she looks between the two. It's obvious she has something on her mind, but decides in that moment not to bring it up.

"Irie, I'll start the search for designs, text me a list of things you'd wanted printed and I'll look into those first."

Caitlin Fairchild has posed:
Caitlin slings her towel over her shoulders and stands up. "Well, that was my good deed for the evening then," she declares, beaming. "Seriously though, we have a fantastic fabrication shop down there. Anyone's welcome to use it. Same rules as the kitchen, don't break anything, don't leave a mess, ask for help if you get in over your head," she says, and reaches down for her Snackyshake to drain the rest of it. "I'm gonna get back to studying. I can't wait for this semester to be over," she sighs. "Once I've got my MD, things will quiet down, and I'll just be working at the teaching hospital a couple times a week. Thank goodness I don't need much sleep," she mutters good-naturedly. With a little wiggle of her fingers in farewell, Caitlin heads to the elevator to do just that!

Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Realizing she still has homework to do, Crush lifts the backpack up onto her lap and pulls out her laptop. It has Happy Bunny stickers all over, along with a few skill and crossbones.

"Have a good night Caitlin," she offers with a wave, watching the woman head for the elevator before looking back to Irie. "We can both sit here quietly and do homework, I'm cool with that if you are."
