Winter is Coming
Date of Scene: 31 December 2023
Location: New York City Bank
Synopsis: A bank robbery in the Bronx potentially leads to widespread outages in the city!
Cast of Characters: Lois Lane, Nikolas Kamarov, Mary Jane Watson

Lois Lane has posed:
It was just supposed to be yet another Saturday before New Years. It was supposed to be a simple in and out, go to the teller, ask for a bit of money, and then leave and go back to the apartment, wondering why Superman hasn't showed up lately.

That was what was supposed to happen. But it didn't.

Instead, the screams of civilians and at least one super-criminal fill the bank.

"Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit." That would be Wallace Benton, a dark haired punk of a man, as he holds a pistol in his hand, now shaking. Not too far away is one of the security guards, bleeding out. Or at least it looks like it.

"I TOLD YOU NOT TO SHOOT HIM!" That angry nagging would come from a white haired young woman that paces back and forth as she shakes her head. "We were just supposed to freak out the normies, get the money, and go enjoy ourselves in Casablanca!" she says, flailing her arms about, before she spies Lois.

"YOU. I KNOW YOU." Cause Lois isn't exactly a private citizen, being a top journalist and all. "Go help him." Cause surely, someone who has traveled with the JLA should know how to stop bleeding.

Her eyes widen as she's called out. Damnit, it was Chanel. When will she ever get to wear this kind of clothing ever again? But there was a man bleeding out, so she rushes on over and starts to rip the man's shirt. "I'll need to make a tourniquet." And with that, the journalist gets to work.

To the teller, Sienna commands them, "Empty whatever cash you have, put it in a bag, and then we can leave."

Nikolas Kamarov has posed:
Winter is not happy. He received a tip that an old Russian mobster who came to America under diplomatic immunity was putting together a crew to rob this bank in New York City. But here he is, standing in the corner watching two low level thugs making a mockery of the time honored tradition of bank robbery.

There was nothing he could have done with the shooting. It happened so quickly, and now the poor man was likely to bleed out, unless the striking woman can prevent the bleed it.

Sighing softly the once olympic athlete in his battle armor simply waits in stealth mode.

"Izvinetti," the tall man with a Russian accent makes himself know as the armor shimmers and displays himself, leaving his face unknown. "This was really not your day, young lady. You rob bank I was watching. Probably spooked him."

Lois Lane has posed:
Sienna groans, rolling her eyes as the Russian appears seemingly from nowhere. His hair is as white as her own? Could there be a relation? Who knows?

"I was wondering when the supermooks would start appearing." she says with an almost predatory grin curling on her lips before she looks back towards her beau. "Keep on getting the money, I'll take care of this guy."

And that's when it happens. The young woman in question is one with the electromagnetic field. Manipulate it, teleport along it, create force blasts with it. But every time she uses her powers, a disruption in the Earth's EM field happens. It fluxes, and depending on the strength of what she's doing, it fluxes even more.

Balling her hands into fists, she groans as she puts them together and sends out a minor electromagnetic blast towards the Russian, expecting him to no longer be a problem afterwards.

Anyone with a strong EM sense can feel it. The ENTIRETY of the Earth's Magnetic field is slightly disrupted, and the rippling effects has every electronic within the bank to get bricked.

Lois Lane has posed:
Meanwhile, Lois is doing what she can, having made a makeshift tourniquet while also completely ruining her clothes with blood.

Nikolas Kamarov has posed:
Oh no! Not the gravity! Not his cell phone! How is he ever to swipe right again?

Winter continues taking steps towards Sienna. His foot faulters for a moment it just hovers above the ground almost unsure of himself. "Nyet," he says with a shake of his head and steps and continues to move forward. As the gravity field hits him he shakes his head, "Nyet. Nyet! Just stop." He doesn't appear to be phased by the gravity field, in fact it seems like he's getting stronger because of it. Like his body is taking in on and getting stronger.

"Zhenschina," he says looking towards Lois. "He live?" It's right at this time when his mask winks out suddenly the electronics on mast proper reveling his face. There goes being amonous.

Lois Lane has posed:
Waittaminute. Her powers are working. She felt that disruption. She felt the tear in the Earth's EM field; she caused it after all. And yet he continues to just walk towards her as if nothing happened. This is not acceptable, and when she's told to simply stop... well, Miss Sienna Blaze has never taken to authority figures very well.

Increasing that tear, she sends forth a more powerful blast, screaming in anger as she grins and looks to Lois. Perhaps she's feeling a bit homicidal tonight, and it isn't long before she points one fist towards Lois and...

Does she even get to answer his question? Find out... in the next pose!

Nikolas Kamarov has posed:
Boom.

That would be a sound Winter makes if there was any sound to followed. The not-human one moment is walking calmly towards Sienna, but the moment she makes a threat to Lois, he is all out sprinting. Not as fast as the flash, but much faster then any human could. His long white hair flowing in waves behind him. In less time it takes to say Nyet he is on Sienna grabbing that arm and instead of slowing, uses the momentum to pull her along with him. With the strength of a hundred men and the agilty to match he suddenly stops and pivots sending Sienna hurtling towards the wall. Not with all his strength. The impact could kill the villain.

"I said, stop. I warn you. Could have left," Winter growls out, his Russian accent becoming thicker the angrier he gets.

Lois Lane has posed:
BOOM! FLESHY SQUELCHING.

That is what /should/ have happened, if it wasn't for the intervention of a certain Russian. Now with Sienna in his grasp, she clearly struggles. Of all of the superheroes in the world she could've faced, why did she face someone who could absorb all types of energy. This is the case where Miss Sienna Blaze is clearly at a disadvantage.

Even as she's pinned, she lets out a hearty, if not maniacal laugh. "There's other banks, handsome. Get ready! We're going for a ride!" that's to her beau, as once again, she tears and rips into the EM field.

t isn't long before she ,and her beau, disappear with at least one bag of cash, traveling along the electromagnetic field of the planet to somewhere else.

This is where the problems get worse. Sure, there was a minor supervillain robbing a bank, but her appearance left a vacuum in the Earth's EM field. Nature /HATES/ a vacuum.

Certainly, Winter can feel it, that disruption that will eventually disrupt the electronics of at least Manhattan, if not the entirety of the city itself. But fortunately, there's osmeone who can control and absorb all types of energy. How do you stop a vacuum? Fill it up!

Nikolas Kamarov has posed:
Vacuum's suck.
nter is about to launch another attack. His whole body poised to pounce on Sienna stuck like velcro in the wall. His fist cocks backward and he's about to launch a strike, when suddenly she's traveling along the EM field.

The ripping in the EM Field, causes unforseen events to occur. Electronics start to pop. Phones. Computers. Lights with electronics. It's high above, however, the control box for the lights cracks and pops and from the ceiling falls a 500 pound control box.

Turning, Winter sees this, his look going from being angry to suddenly stoic as he moves at inhuman speed. He moves faster then any human should and a few breaths before it crushes a certain Lois and the man she attends to, he's standing under her. His back arched over the duo the control box landing square on Winters back.

The sound of metal crunching has he absorbs the energy from the fall, and reflects it back to the object.

He grunts though, there is a great strain on his face.

Even has he reflects, Winter goes about fixing the EM field. Releasing energy to rebind it to heal it.

Lois Lane has posed:
The EM field warps around Winter, with his body being the center of mass that is the focus of the flux. With Lois directly beneath him, she can feel it too, and she winces, grabbing her temples as she groans in pain. The security guard, still barely conscious, also feels uncomfortable with the strong amounts of flux around him, and he passes out.

Regular humans weren't meant to handle these sorts of things.

But it takes a minute? Five? Ten? It's a difficult, but not impossible. If it wasn't for his Kherubim side, he might not have been able to heal a tear like that.

And not too far away in upstate New York, Magneto feels that ripple.

And all the way in Genosha, a certain green haired mutant, Polaris can feel that ripple.

Eventually, a good distance away, probably somewhere in Oslo, do Sienna and her beau reappear, holding at least some cash that will allow them to survive before having to get a bit more cash.

Nikolas Kamarov has posed:
It takes great strain to do what is necessary. Winter is like a battery, however, like all batteries they slowly drain. The 500 pound control unit for the lights long being shrugged off, Winter stands but fails and drops to a knee his hand resting on top of it.

Even saw, as drained as he looks, his hair is perfectly in place. Good product use is the key. "He needs hospital," Winter notes pulling his phone out of the pocket and unlocking it. "Call ambulance, Ledi. They won't be back, but someone else may want to attemot this.

Lois Lane has posed:
KERTHUNK!

With that 500 lb control unit being tossed back, Lois starts to get her wits about her. Oh yeah, she was/is in the bank. There was a robbery. And someone got shot!

Looking down at the downed security guard, she winces and continues to press down upon his wound, which is mostly clotting. Either that or he's just bleeding out.

Then she grabs her phone and tries to turn it on. Nothing. It was bricked with every other piece of electronic equipment in the bank. If it wasn't for that absorption of excess energy, perhaps all of Manhattan or the city could've had a blackout.

Dang that Sienna Blaze.

"The phones don't work." she says, remaining pretty calm for someone with absolutely no powers. Being a constant damsel-in-distress makes one tougher apparently. "Can you bring him to one?" Then she yells, "Is there a doctor in the house?!?"

Nikolas Kamarov has posed:
"Da da." Winter says realizing his phone as well as his radio is fried. He knee walks towards the man, his hands fiddling at his utility belt to pull something out. "Look away," He says to Lois sharply as he suddenly jabs the object into the mans thigh, releasing the morphine so he feels no pain.

"I move him, he dies." Winter says somberly not taking his eyes off of the man. "The bleeding is mostly stopped, and the drugs will help. But, I move him. He good as dead." He shakes his head and takes up the mans hand and speaks a quiet prayer, in Russian before looks to Lois. "You hurt?"

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
A localized electromagnetic signal that puts out bandwidth for hundreds, if not thousands of kilometers is going to get an immediate poke into. In this case, said poker is the unfortunate Mary Jane Watson as simply the nearest available agent and with however many minutes until a response team can be scrambled.

She's quickly running towards the central zone of the signal, not sure of the exact position and having not caught sight of Lois. She's wearing a large Spider-Man hoodie but stands out massively for one big reason - namely the huge basterd sword in a sheathe slung over her back. So she's definitely easy to make out!

Lois Lane has posed:
Oh yeah. The security guard did bleed for at least ten minutes. Moving him really isn't an option at this point.

Watching Nik stab the man with a bit of morphine, her eyes widen with shock, not knowing what he did, at least until he explains it. At the question, she looks around. There's a few bruises from people scrambling at the hold up in the bank, but nothing major.

"Not really. I just don't like seeing people get hurt." she says with a frown, not quite sure what to do at this point.

So here's the funny thing about such warps in the Earth's EM field. Whoever causes them usually doesn't survive or they use it as a means to teleport somewhere else. In the comics, that's precise what Magneto and Sienna Blaze do at times; here? It's the latter that caused the mess.

And a mess it is. Even though everything /looks/ normal, none of the electronics in the bank, both for business and personal, work at all. There are going to be a lot of angry people; Apple and Google will be very happy, and so will mobile carriers everywhere. Thanks Sienna Blaze!

Nikolas Kamarov has posed:
"Da," Winter says to Lois, "It's hard to see hurt, but it is part of life, ledi. World is full of hurt." He sighs looking down at the man once more before rising up to looking down at the woman and offering his hand to help her to her feet. "You look fine. Those clothes are ruined. Too much blood stains."

The sight of a young woman wearing a broadsword on her back cause Winter pause, his light blue eyes watching a moment. "Nyet. Nyet. What are you doing running around with that fool thing, rebenok. You'll get arrested. Or ganged up on."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
The exact mechanics of an EM pulse are something that Fitz could explain and understand, and with some time figure out a way to control one with access to some engineering facilities. All Mary Jane knows is that her communicator hasn't really been working since she came to the area.

She would smile at Nikolas and hold her hands up to the side. "Believe me, I know how to use it. Ma'am, are you okay?" She goes to call ou t at Lois, unaware of the badly injured man yet. "I'm part of the SHIELD team that's come to investigate. Okay to reach for my pocket to pull out ID?" She would keep her hands in front of her just in case the two thought she might be hostile.

"And your accent sounds like Boris." That snark is sent towards the Man of Winter.

Lois Lane has posed:
Lois looks like a mess. Her clothes are stained with blood, but fortunately, it's not hers. Motioning at the man on the ground, she frowns. "He's hurt. Got shot." she explains, as she accepts the offered hand by the Russian.

"And I'll be fine.I I think most of us will, other than a bit of shock. Probably e-bank for a bit." she says with a soft chuckle, trying to add a little brevity to the situation.

"If you're with SHIELD, do you think you can get him the help he needs? I dont know how much blood he lost, but he got a dose of morphine and is out of it." By out of it, she means unconsciou.

Nikolas Kamarov has posed:
"So what if you can use it. Question is, would you use it if had too?" Winter counters looking at the other woman crossing his arms across his chest. He looks down at the man. He's holding on. Bleeding is mostly stopped, but he's got bullet wounds. At least he's likely dreaming something good and happy with the ammount of morphine he's taken. "If you are with SHIELD, don't know why you'd be lying about it. Can you get him the help, or should I just end his suffering now?"

He's joking right? Would Winter really do it? Judging by the coldness of his tone, and the way he stands suggests hey would do it.

He looks to Lois, his light blue eyes, appraised her situation just as much as she did a self evaluation. "Is-----------s

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would pause in her reach for her pocket as they didn't seem to need to see her ID. "Hopefully a few minutes. But my comm was out when I got here so if they can't coordinate they'll be slow and try to secure a perimeter first." Nothing else exploding meant that whatever caused it in the first place was done, so if there wasn't an immediate threat the followup team would take thier damned time making sure the area was locked down if they couldn't talk.

She would reach down towards her pocket once more.

Lois Lane has posed:
"It was some girl." Young woman really. "Robbed the bank with her boyfriend." Lois explains, giving an eyewitness account. "Apparently, she had powers. One of them is apparently disappearing or teleporting because.." and she looks up towards Nik to see if he can give a better explanation.

Nikolas Kamarov has posed:
"Unlikely, they will be here time." Winter replies to Mary Jane. He looks down at the man on the verge of death. He steps next to Lois and places a hand along her back and guides her so she's not going to see the eventual death. He's hopped up on morphine, sure, but he may convulse a bit and no one should that. "Unless you have a healer in the team a coming."

"Sienna Blaze, likely." The Russian comments. "Mutant." He shakes his head. "All I remember from her file." He purses his lips. "She needs to be dealt with." How exactly? Let you imagine that to your will.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would take a breath, "I'll go running." She moves to take out her ID and goes to pass it to Lois. "If you hear anyone coming, yell and show them that. That will convince them that you're not hostile. I'll do a sweep and hopefully I can get them here quicker. Or.." Gears are turning in her head. "Are your phones literally fried or just shorted?"

Lois Lane has posed:
There lies her iPhone 14 MAX TO THE XTREME. It was a good phone. A reliable phone. But all it takes is one powerful EMP, and BZZT, it dies. Dead. Done.

"I tried earlier. Nothing in here is working." Lois explains, as they were pretty much the origin of said pulse.

But hold on, waittaminute. If an EMP was coming out, how come only the bank was affected?

The camera pans on over to Winter.

Nikolas Kamarov has posed:
"Fried shorted. Tit tat. Same thing, da?" Winter says looking over his shoulder a shaking his head somberly. "No need to rush. The two whom were here are gone." He had been staking out the place after all. "Don't look, ledi." he says to Lois,

Stepping away from the group, he turns and heads to a large office chair at reception that was knocked over and jacket left on the floor. He takes it and moves to the man. "He is gone," he says to the pair as he passed them. "Another fallen soldier. A commrade never known." He leans down and closes the mans eyes and uses the jacket to cover his head.

"Ripples, likely felt across the globe. The EMP, how to say how far that got. Probably fair enough to kill the towers near so that even if it did work, we'd only have 4G service."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would swear. If she'd just been a little bit faster.. The part of her inside that is Sonja notes that the man would have died even before the EMT's could start treating him. At least the morphine lessened the pain. But Mary Jane doesn't take much solace in that part of her consciousness that's being pragmatic.

And is so completely innured to death tot he point of not caring about any life in particular.
