Date of Scene: 06 January 2024
Location: The Rossi Building
Synopsis: A gamer is met and plans are made
Cast of Characters: Samuel Guthrie, Isabel Kane, Ray Palmer

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie has brought Izzy by to check on the comic shop. With Sam having lived above it, and the owner of the building living across the ocean. Sam has taken it to make sure the tenants have someone to check in on them. Yea Sam being a good guy is showing through

Isabel Kane has posed:
"Y'know, don't think I've been in a store like this since I was a kid... used to love 'em, though." Izzy flashes a grin up at Sam as she enters with him, looking around after. "Used to be th' best place to get secondhand video games or th' best vintage comics." She pokes around a little here and there, mostly looking over titles she long ago lost track of, or new titles she's never heard of!

Ray Palmer has posed:

Never a particularly poor fellow, Ray has some holiday cash burning a hole in his pocket, he covered the holiday shifts at ESU at the Library for a friend there. Eyes bright, he enters the comic store and after making sure he isn't blocking the way out, he pauses to survey the place, noting the eclectic nature of it with vast approval. And then his eyes widen as he sees a Gundam model in a display case that someone not only crafted, but painted. "Oooh...shiny..."

He nearly collides with the couple who entered as he stumbles on a fold in the carpet, he recovers, but then he flushes. "Oh, apologies...excuse me." A boyish grin. "Clumsy oaf at your six." He says.

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie looks over to the other and says "It is ok, no biggie." He has lived in New York long enough he pats his front pockets and then his back, making sure not to check where his wallet actually is first. He looks over to Izzy and says "They started up here about the time we moved in, so sorta grew over past couple years."

Isabel Kane has posed:
Izzy automatically reaches out a hand to help steady Ray, offering a smile, "No problem. Good to see people still gettin' excited over this stuff." Once he's upright and steady, she'll remove her hand and look to Sam, "That's really great. I know comics an' stuff were considered nerdy or whatever for a long time, it's good for it to start becomin' more mainstream."

Ray Palmer has posed:
"It's a good store, close to the school, and the staff have always been friendly to me." A pause. "Or at least to my wallet." He says with a grin. "Sorry, don't mean to jump into your conversation." He offers a hand. "Ray Palmer." He'll offer to Sam first, and then to Izzy, his smile back full force and very friendly.

And no, he didn't steal anyone's wallet.

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie shakes the offered hand and says "Sam Guthrie, and this is Izzy." He will let her add her last name if she wants. He nods, and says "Yea, Ah have a weekly pull list here." He asmits,.

Isabel Kane has posed:
"Isabel Kane, but yeah, most people call me Izzy," she shakes his hand when offered and flashes a quick smile towards Ray. Looking back to Sam, Izzy grins, "Ahhh, so you're a comic buff, too? Well, now I know better some stuff I can get ya. You'll have to show me what titles ya read."

Ray Palmer has posed:
"Great to meet you both." Ray's handshakes are firm, and he makes eye contact, the guy definitely seems sincere. "I have a regular pull too, obviously it was inevitable that we'd meet, Sam." This with a quirky smile. "So what's your poison? I'm pretty eclectic, mostly indies. Do you guys game too? I was thinking of starting up a Pathfinder 2E game..."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie says, "Been a while since I gamed to be honest, but have yea." He admits. He will name off a few comics some of the big names, but some odd ball sci fi ones as well."

Isabel Kane has posed:
"I have never 'gamed' in my life, but I'm very willin' to learn! What's Pathfinder? Is that like D&D?" Izzy looks largely clueless, but happy to learn and make new friends! SHe glances between Sam and Ray, then offers, "I mostly was into those comics that were clearly based on th' heroes from World War 2.. mostly cause my granddad was one of 'em."

Ray Palmer has posed:
"Man, you and I have several titles in common, I /love/ the Star Ranger comic, it is SO not just for kids, you know?" He nods about the gaming, and then smiles when Izzy expresses an interest. "Well, if you guys are up for a game, let me know, I already have two players, so if you both join that gets to a 'standard' party size. Still, it gives me an excu-- /reason/ to work on the campaign!" He nods to Izzy. "Pathfinder 2nd edition is a variant of D&D, same basic idea, though their execution is different. They did some really neat things with their ruleset."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie nods a bit and says "It is basicly like one version of it, they have kept making different versions, some good some bad, that edition people liked and expanded on." He nods and will pull out his phone to offer the other man his phone number. "Not sure how much free time we got but we can try.

Isabel Kane has posed:
"Okay, cool. Well then, maybe I have some things to pickup myself this time!" Isabel seems quite pleased that she'll have something to look for and buy on the trip to the comic store... if they have gaming supplies as well, that is. She'll pull out a small holder from her jacket pocket, retrieving a business card and scribbling her cell number on it before holding it out to Ray, "There, my cell. Usually, if I can schedule stuff in advance, I'm okay. Sometimes emergencies happen, though, he's right."

Ray Palmer has posed:
Ray takes the card from Izzy after he inputs Sam's, then sends them both a text so they have his contact info as well, name, and an address, since he figures he'd be hosting the game. "Oh, it is pretty up in the air right now, and my own schedule can be a bit scattershot, so no worries about your own." So there's that. "Oh!" He sends another message to the group text with his House Rules. "I have PDF copies of all the rulebooks, so you can save a bit of money if you just want the files. There's a URL in my house rules doc, so you can view and download the books I'm using if you want. You will likely want some dice though, Izzy...and if you're out of practice, Sam, you might too. I /would/ recommend you get the core rulebook though, at least one copy, most of the game is in there."

Samuel Guthrie has posed:
Sam Guthrie nods his head a bit and says to Izzy "We can get you some, or we can raid my dice. I have a few sets." He offers. He nods and looks over to the clerk, and has him grab two of the core books.

Isabel Kane has posed:
"You know, digital copies are good for searching for specific things, but there's still nothing like having an actual book to read through and look over. So I'll probably use both," Izzy chuckles and lifts a small shrug. She glances to Sam and gasps at him, "Sam Guthrie, you bite your tongue! I can't just use *your* dice! They might have bad mojo on 'em!" There's a small laugh as she kisses his cheek and starts towards the dice.

Ray Palmer has posed:
"I have spare dice too, I bought a 'bucket o' dice' online, super cheap, there's like two pounds of dice of assorted and sundry colors and styles, so there's always spare dice in case one forgets." Ray definitely approves of Sam buying the core books though, that's how they stay in business after all! Well, the PDFs cost too, just less. A grin to Izzy. "I used to game with a person SO attached to her dice she'd literally never use them again if anyone else rolled them. It was crazy."

And then his phone beeps. "Excuse me..." He offers an apologetic look as he takes it out, and then reads it. His shoulders slump a little. "Sorry, I have to deal with a work thing...listen...how about we get together over a pizza sometime soon, and work on characters and getting to know each other?" Once he has their answers, Ray heads out...finds a private space, then shrinks to teleport through the phone lines.
