|
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
Summers in New York are hot... to New Yorkers. To anyone from below the Mason Dixon line? It's still early enough to be a bit chilly! For someone from near the equator, it's downright wintery!
Thankfully, Amara has a cheat code. She strolls out to the pool in a newly purchased bikini, sarong, and sandals, a towel tucked under one arm, and a pair of sunglasses perched on her head! She's got a master plan now that classes are done for the summer, and it involved enjoying as much of her summer as possible!
Tossing the towel onto a deck chair, she steps from the sandals and sarong, sets the sunglasses on top of everything before approaching the pool. CLosing her eyes, she feels around.. deep in the earth, looking for something... there. Natural vents. Cracks in the earth that let superheated air from the molten core escape. She clenches a fist to draw it closer to the surface, not enough to cause a quake, but close enough to let that superheated air warm the water of the pool. Something that's less likely to cause goosebumps when people jump in!
Amara's no Jubilee, but she can do... something. Opening her eyes and looking upward, she smiles, sending up a brief show of pyrotechnics and flashes of light to draw people out to an impromptu pool party!
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
A groan emits from one of the lounge chairs that surround the pool as Remy, looking like he spent the night out here, turns away and covers his face at the impromptu light show. As he moves, a dull clink, the sound of an empty bottle tipping over and hitting the concrete, is heard as it echoes off the walls. The cajun raises his hand slightly from his face to look around while he tries to block the light from reaching into his brain and setting up a construction site.
"Mon Dieu, pourquoi fait-il si clair?
The Cajun starts to fish around the pockets of the jeans he wears, looking for something, until he finds the crumpled up pack of cigarettes he left on the table and reaches for them with a sigh while he checks the empty bottle for at least a little hair of the dog.
- Paige Guthrie has posed:
Miss Aquilla isn't the only one looking to cool off on this day.
Steppong out onto the swimming pool area is a Miss Paige Guthrie, decked out in a yellow and blue X-Men themed bikini. Imagine their skin-tight body suits, but covering only the important bits; that's pretty much what she's wearing.
Her brows raise as she glances towards Remy and squints, "Not all of us understand French, you know." She's definitely one of those who doesn't, and she glances at the pool and waves. "How's the water, Amara?" she calls out.
- Alex Summers has posed:
Wearing yellow swim trunks with cargo pockets (because he's cool like that) coupled with a Hawaiian shirt of green, yellow, blue, orange flowers on black base, Alex Summers is the king of men's fashion. His thick blonde mussed hair and sunglasses complete the 90s take on the 2000s. He steps up alongside of Paige, to her right and smiles to the others in the area. Alex notes, translating for Remy, "Hey babe; He just said, It's ah party. In the Frenchee. Where's the beer?"
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
Glancing over towards Remy, she grins, taking a moment to parse the Cajun French back to the roots in Latin (yay romance languages!), then offering, "The light show was to announce a pool party. You're welcome to stay." She looks back to the pool, holding a hand out over the water, then giving a nod, "Perfect."
Turning towards Paige, there's a smile offered up, bright and cheery, "Hello! I haven't gone in yet, but I warmed it up enough that it won't cause goosebumps when you dive in. Should be just about right. There's drinks in the cooler, and some snacks by the poolhouse! Though I am reminded that I was asked to remind everyone that snacks and pools do not mix, and to please keep food out of the water." She lifts a shrug and offers a lopsided grin, "So, now you're reminded."
Nodding to Alex, she chuckles, "Cooler and snacks are by the poolhouse. I didn't get a ton, but it should be enough for a few people."
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
Continuing to squint, even though it isn't that bright out, the Cajun lets out another little moan as he tries to get his bearings. He looks to the empty bottle of whiskey dangling from his fingers and sighs, setting it back down onto the floor before he stands and stretches his arms up over his head. He looks over at Amara as she explains there is about to be a party and he face contorts slightly at the thought.
In his think Cajun accent, he mutters. "A party?"
Then other start to arrive, drawn to the lights like moths to a flame. Remy just shakes his head and sighs, "Well, I guess I should freshen up then."
Making sure there is nothing int he pockets of his jeans, the contents of them being removed and places onto the table, Remy pulls off the t-shit his was wearing and wanders towards to pool and just jumps in, jeans and all.
- Paige Guthrie has posed:
Yes. This is why she goes to the pool in the summer, to check out hot shirtless guys. There's Remy doing his thing, and she ooohs and then winces as she realizes he's wearing jeans into the pool. "That's going to shrink later in the dryer." Paige comments off handedly before looking over to Alex.
"Well hey you!" she beams brightly, flashing her pearly whites towards the Summers brother. "Did you know all this was happening?" she asks as she heads towards the coolers to get a drink and maybe a snack or two before going into the pool.
"And we can ask the Cajun how the water is after you warmed it then, right?"
- Alex Summers has posed:
Alex will seem grateful to Amara's offering of snacks and stuff. He'll smile and say, "Hey, thanks. By the way. I thought it was, don't eat within 30 minutes of swimming or something."
Alex will then bump into Paige, hip to hip. Not to knock her over, just to show affection or comradery. He only answers, "No idea... while he starts to unbutton the hawaiian shirt and step out of his sneakers. "But since we're here. May as well make it one."
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
Laughing when Remy jumps into the pool in his jeans, she shakes her head, "And they say my people are ballsy." Keeping an eye on the temperature of the pool, she glances back to Paige and Alex with a grin, "Last one in pays for the next party!" THen she's turning to dive cleanly into the water.
They find chips and cookies and some sorbet cups with the little wooden spoons. And for drinks, there's water, soda, and beer! Its nothing super special, just some light snacks and drinks for an impromptu party to celebrate summer!
The water, when people jump in, is perfect. Warm enough that it's comfortable, cool enough to be refreshing! Or at least, in Amara's case, not be chilly! Amara herself is cutting through the water, swimming beneath the surface before shooting up to crest through into the air again, pulling in a breath and grinning, "Water's good!"
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
Remy surfaces from the water and pushes his wet hair away from his face with his hands as he starts to wade from the deep end back over towards the steps to get out. The wet jeans make the normally agile Cajun a bit slow and sluggish as the added weight of the waterlogged denim makes it a slog to get through the water. He looks around, finally really taking into account who is around and nods to Paige, Alex, and Amara before taking a seat on the steps of the pool.
- Alex Summers has posed:
Alex says loudly, "OOP!" and he doesn't bother getting the final buttons undone on this shirt after hearing Amara's challenge. Instead, he pops them off while ripping the shirt open and practically leaves it in his tracks as he steps completely out of his shoes and side dives into the water while he laughs - leaving Paige in the 'dust'. Kersplash.
Alex will come up a few yards away and, after pushing the water out of his face and his hair back on his head, he'll glance Paige's way with a broad grin. "Looks like Paige lost."
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
"Drinks and snacks by the poolhouse, Remy! There's water, you might want to hydrate," Amara calls over to the Cajun with a teasing grin. Treading water in the deep end, she enjoys the peace of the moment... a moment that passes as soon as she's hit with the splash and wave from Alex's leap into the water.
Laughing as she wipes the water from her face, Amara dips briefly beneath the water, bobbing back up above to slick her hair back and wipe the water from her features. She chuckles at Alex's claim and gives a nod, "Looks like it! Guess she pays for the next party!" Not that there's another one being planned, so really, it's just a 'if/when anyone remembers' situation.
"I miss the jungle at times. Between the heat and humidity, it was like constantly being wrapped in a warm blanket. It gets so cold here... I should really look at asking father if we could come down for a visit..." Amara muses aloud, then shakes her head lightly and looks back to Remy, "Gonna drip-dry?"
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
"I suppose I could take the jeans off to let them dry, but that might not be the best option," smirks the Cajun as he looks over to Amara. "So, drip dry it is, at least for now, but yes...water is probably a good idea." Remy stands from the spot on the stairs and starts to wander over towards where the water is to grab himself a bottle...or two. "You'd probably like it down in the bayou," he says looking over at Amara, "Certainly during the summer."
- Alex Summers has posed:
"I totally get that, Amara." Alex comments on her notation of missing the jungle. He continues, "I'm pretty much the same way. I love the heat of the desert. Spent so much time down in New Mexico, it's just so comfortable for me. While up here, if I ain't charged up (super heated fiery plasma), then I need a light coat in anything below 80 degrees."
He glances up and over to Remy and takes note of the cajun's movements in his wet denim. "You know, you could turn them into cutoffs right quick - show off those sexy legs."
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
Snorting lightly, Amara chuckles, "Not my sensibilities. I'm Roman. Body hangups are a modern thing, I'll never get it. People bring so much unnecessary embarrassment and shame on themselves." Pushing up into a float, she drifts along the surface of the water, glancing up to Alex with a smile, "Yes! If I couldn't generate heat on command, I'd be bundled up in leathers and furs every day!"
Mention of the 'bayou' has her looking back towards Remy with interest, "Bayou? Is that somewhere we can go? Can we go there? I wouldn't mind getting warmed up." She floats along in the pool with Alex treading water (?) nearby. Remy's on the deck and in soaked jeans and (apparently) nothing else!
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
Remy chuckles over at Amara and shrugs, "Not really my hang-up either, but I think that the Professor might object." He grabs a pair of waters from the cooler, and swings by to grab his pack of cigarettes before making his way back over to the edge of the pool, dangling he legs into the water. He cracks open on of the waters and drains the entire bottle in one go, before fishing a cigarette from the crumpled pack and placing it between his lips.
"Sure," Remy says as the cigarette bops between his lips. "It's where I'm from. Just pop on down to Louisiana. Take you to Mardi Gras....you'd like Mardi Gras."
- Scott Summers has posed:
Flip-plap.
Flip-plap. Flip-plap.
The sound heralds the arrival of Scott Summers. The sandals that he wears create their distinct war cry with each step down the stone pathway that leads to the picturesque oasis at the very heart of the school ground's backyard. Aside from his sandals, he wears a pair of bold blue swim trunks and rubber goggles sporting ruby quarters lenses upon his head. A towel rests over one shoulder and as he treads into the pool area, Scott comes to a halt. He'd heard the voices well before he could see them and upon seeing them, Scott's head tilts and his face angles to regard Remy. Or maybe it's the cigarette.
There's a stoic expression bordering on disapproval etched along the man's features, but he does not speak up on the issue. It is technically summer break after all. A nod is given to the gathering as a whole when Scott eventually tears his attention away from Remy. "Good afternoon, everyone," he declares cordially as he begins to make his way around the rectangular pool, toward a collection of seats available for sunbathing. It's there that he deposits his towel.
- Alex Summers has posed:
The flippity-plappity of Scott's flippity flops and movement down stairs draws Alex's attention. The younger brother watches Scott and takes note of his disapproval of Remy and then hears the greeting. Alex grins and calls out, "Scott!" in a tone of welcome greeting with enthusiasm.
Alex maintains his treading of water. The water is nice.
- Paige Guthrie has posed:
The distractions of hunky shirtless X-Men had her be catatonic briefly. No, just kidding. She got distracted with a phone call from Empire State about some class or something like that.
Paige returns to find Scott has joined the fray. "So in the time I was gone, the number of Summers has doubled!" she says with a soft chuckle, before looking towards the gathered group. "Mardi Gras? Mama always said you have to do sinful things to get beads." a beat. "Can you take me too?" she asks with a silly little grin on her features.
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
"Hm... you have a point. I don't think I would care to get on his bad side." Amara gives a small nod towards Remy, then chuckles, "But Alex has a point, could turn those into cutoffs easily enough. At least then you wouldn't be so... waterlogged." Slipping from float back into treading water, she lifts a brow at him, "Louisianna? Is that nearby? And what's Mardi Gras?" Anachronism strikes again!
The arrival of another party-goer has her grinning and lifting an arm in a wave towards Scott, "Hello! Welcome to the impromptu pool party! Snacks and drinks by the poolhouse, water's great, feel free to jump right in!" She motions towards the cooler and snacks, then turns a grin towards him, "Even teachers can have fun in summer, right?"
Amara turns a glance to Alex and grins broadly, "So, can I ask how many Summers' there are? Is it just you and Scott, or are there more siblings that might pop up?" Because it seems a prudent question to ask! Paige's return is met with a smile and wave, "Welcome back! If you can get in the water before Scott, he has to pay for the next party!"
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
If Remy sees Scott's disapproval, he doesn't pay it any attention, or doesn't care, as the Cajun moves to light the cigarette that rests between his lips. He sucks in a lung full of smoke. At least when he exhales, he blows it up and behind him so it isn't towards the others as a general curtesy.
"I don't have anything to cut them off with, at least not with me. At best I could charge and explode them, but I don't think that would have the desired effect. Unless the goal was to have no pants anyway."
He takes another drag from the cigarette, opening up the second bottle of water and taking a sip. He nods to Scott in greeting before looking to Paige, "Sure. I don't mind if you want to tag along. We can make a field trip out of it." The Cajun grins wickedly in amusement. He turns back to Amara, "Louisiana is a state down in the southern US. A few hours away by plane. Mardi Gras is a weeklong party of drinking and debauchery. Paige is right...there are some sinful things that go on during it."
- Scott Summers has posed:
Alex's greeting is met by a nod from Scott, along with an answer to it, "How're you, Alex," he asks with a brow rising higher over his goggle. His own tone is casual, but its usual brand of reserved. The towel discarded and Paige's comment about sinful things, followed by a request to join on a sinful field trip earns a glance from the goggled Summers. His mouth twitches slightly, a glimmer of amusement nearly overtaking his otherwise stoic expression. Though the challenge to beat Scott into the pool seems to prompt Scott to step toward the edge. He doesn't dive in immediately, but instead stands tall and lean there.
Fists plant upon his waist and Scott offers a response to Amara, "It's important not to cave to pressure, especially among your peers". Which may very well be some verbal flag planted in the ground, indicating Scott's refusal to give into said pressure and go leaping into the pool.
The question of how many Summers there are earns a little shrug of his shoulders and a glance toward Alex. The answer that is given is well measured and cultivated, by the time Scott's attention returns to Amara, "Same as most other families. We turn up at times."
It doesn't take long for Scott to seat himself upon the edge of the pool, dunking his legs up to the knees into the water while he takes in a little bit of sun. Absently his fingers brush at his nose. Likely realizing he'd forgotten to apply sun screen to his nose or face.
The talk of Mardi Gras results in a frown out of Scott - or maybe it's the cigarette. He doesn't interrupt the conversation though. Instead his feet paddle beneath the water, creating small waves on the surface with their motion beneath.
- Paige Guthrie has posed:
The mention of Scott potentially paying for the next party has Paige grinning from ear to ear. "A party from our fearless leader? Yes ma'am!" she beams, as she rushes towards the pool and dives in with a SPLASH. Does she make it in before Scott goes into the water? Who knows?
After a few long moments, she emerges from the water, her hair damp from that first dip. "Ooooh, you're right, no sudden rush of cold."
That's when she looks over to Remy, "So is it true what they say about um... how you get the nice beads?" she wonders.
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
Amara offers a mischevious smile towards Remy, swimming in a little closer, "I could do it. If you show a little trust." Because THAT'S never ominous or portentious at all! Not that she has ill intent towards him, oh no. But there's clearly a level of teasing going on there. Will he pick up the gauntlet? Well, that's the fun part! Going back to the topic of Louisianna and Mardia Gras, she lifts a brow, "Sounds like a Bacchanalia. I haven't attended one since... well, a very long time. And I had to sneak into that one. Count me in!"
People forget that while everything was NOT like the movies, ancient Rome did know how to party. And when they did, they tended to go hard! It was a time that was simultaneously more open and more restrictive, an interesting dichotomy.
Tipping her head back to smile up at Scott, "Well then, sir, my thanks for your hosting of our next party. Your principals are intact, and I will look forward to what sort of party you choose to throw." Flashing an unrepentant grin, it's clear Amara is having herself a grand old time! Which probably bodes well for the temperature of the water. Having one's powers tied to one's emotional state can be... complicated. Still, he answers her question, sort of, and leaves her with a lifted a brow, "Most other families? You're already one up on mine by having a brother. I'm betting the same for Remy. And Paige, I believe, outstripes us all with the number of her siblings. So what is 'same as most other families'? Is there a Summers sister in the wings, waiting for a chance to pop out and surprise us all?"
Turning that grin towards Paige, she inclines her head, "I try! The water is always too cold at the start of summer. Takes forever to heat up by the sun, so I figured I would help it along a little." THen there's a question of beads and she's blinking, "Beads?"
- Alex Summers has posed:
Alex is clearly all smiles with how the conversations are progressing. He enjoys listening these days. He's learned over time that interjecting various random thoughts is not conducive to a healthy conversation or relationship.
When looked upon for answers about siblings from Scott, he nods in affirmation of the notation of relatives popping up. He even notes as a tag line or addendum, "Half the time we don't like them." as he adds to the answer to Amara's question glancing her way.
Then the Paige bomb comes and he laughs turning his face away from being splashed directly (or indirectly). He then pushes himself through the water toward the opposite side of the pool as Remy. But maintains his back to the wall and his body in the water. This is so he can keep visuals on everyone.
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
Remy looks over to Paige with a nod of his head and a chuckle, "Oui, it's true. I keep trying to get Rogue to go down there, but she won't hear of it." The Cajun lifts the cigarette to his lips again and inhales, cherry glowing red and illuminating his features in a slight glow for a moment...at least until Paige's dive makes that splash and gets him all wet, dousing the cherry. "Merde...." he sighs, charging up the remains of the butt and flicking it away to explode in a little pop. "Anyway, I bet you she would walk away with more beads than she could carry, and she could carry quite a few."
The swamp rat snorts, taking another sip of his water he looks to Amara and ponders for a moment with pursed lips before he shrugs, "Sure, Chere. Just don't burn anything I'm going to regret later." Remy sets the water down and rises to stand, the wet jeans clinging to his legs as he looks down at them, then over to Amara. "Just a little off the bottom?"
"I have a brother. I haven't seen him in years. Not even sure he is still alive to be honest, but nobody has tracked me down to tell me otherwise."
- Paige Guthrie has posed:
Once she emerges from the water, Paige simply sticks her tongue out towards Remy before looking confused. "I'm sure Jean would like to have a word with you about trying to bring her fiance down to a party full of debauchery." a beat. "Unless she was involved." Cause the X-Men in the comics are full of polycules, throuples, and other things.
The mention of the missing brother causes her to frown once more. "I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe we can help you find him?!? Sibling reunions for everyone, yeah?
Looking to Amara, she grins, "I think the rest of the siblings should enroll. I heard Elizabeth manifested her power. She can embiggen. Get largers and stuff. Then there's Melodie who can fly." A soft sigh can be heard, almost making it sound like she's jealous. "But I think Joelle is a f... human, like mama." There are a LOT of Guthries as there are already Jay and Sam at the school already.
- Scott Summers has posed:
The pop that results from Remy's doused cigarette being flicked away brings a visible smile to Scott Summer's typically stern expression. That pop seems to act as a starting gun of a sort, because a moment after it Scott finally slides into the pool from his seat along the edge of it. He makes barely a sound as he slips in and a hand holds to the lip of the edge. The rubber of his goggles keeps his eyes covered by the ruby quarter lenses and the seal allows for them to be waterproofed as well. A few breaststrokes later and Scott shifts to treading water nearer to the gathering of other mutants.
The questions from Amara is finally answered as Scott shifts to keeping himself upright and above the water's surface with the gentle paddling of feet and sway of his hands under the water. "I don't know," Scott finally answers with only a brief glance toward Alex as he lingers near the wall of the pool, "I was orphaned when I was young. There's a lot of assumption in assuming there are aunts, uncles, cousins, and the rest out there."
Maybe it's because Scott doesn't seem inclined to continue the conversation. Maybe it's because Scott things he's answered the question as adequately as he can. He interrupts further dwelling on the question and answer session with a sudden sweep of his arm, sending a crashing splash and wave of water in the direction of Alex. The grin that suddenly flashes to life on the typically serious man's face seems to indicate he's there to have a little fun. At least before he commits himself to the training regimen of swimming a few dozen laps.
Noticably he stays out of the conversation regarding beads, how to acquire them, or how many any individual may be capable of carrying.
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
Nodding to Alex, she chuckles, "That I can understand. I have a persistent relative that is always trying to kill me. I'm not even certain why. But every so often, she shows up and either kidnaps me or attempts to sacrifice me. Family, right?" Lifting a shrug, she hauls herself up out of the pool to sit on the edge.
Just in time for Remy's agreement! Turning that bright smile up at him, Amara nods, "Not to worry, I've done this before!" Like, twice, but hey! Experience is experience, right? She takes hold of the lower hem of one leg and looks to the forefinger of her other hand, the tip of it turning a birght, hot, angry red. Moving quickly so the heat doesn't have time to scorch his leg, she circles the finger around the pantsleg, just below the knee, where there's the most excess fabric to work with. Giving a quick yank, she tears the leg of the jeans down, then repeats the process with the other leg. In the end, Remy will have some board short length jean cutoffs that are cauterized at the hems! Tada! Once he's stepped free of them, she picks up the ends and cups them in both hands, letting the magma form cover her hands and burn away the excess until there's nothing left, not even ash.
"There you go! That has to be at least five pounds of waterlogged denim you are no longer toting around." Amara, dusts off her completely normal hands and flashes him a grin and a wink before slipping back into the pool. "Do you like your brother?" Apparently the Summers' don't always like their own relatives.
Speaking of which! She looks to Scott and shakes her head, "Not assuming anything. I asked if there were more siblings. I am an only child, Remy apparently has a brother, and Paige has..." she pauses briefly, counting names in her head, "four? that she's mentioned in just the last few moments. And there are others, too, if I remember correctly? Seven in all? Or eight?" Amara looks to Paige for confirmation of the number of Guthrie siblings, smiling, "I would love to meet more of your siblings." Then she's looking back to Scott, just in time for him to splash Alex and swim off.
Letting out a laugh, Amara grins towards Alex, "Are you going to take that? Get justice!"
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
Paige's mention of Rogue's relationship status immediately douses the the Cajun's mood just like her splash did his cigarette, and he glances back over to where the now empty bottle of whiskey lays on its side. "Oui. I'm sure your right." His tone is flat, devoid of emotion as he stands there, looping his thumbs into the beltloops of his pants as he pushes his hands into the pockets. It appears as Remy is about to turn and leave and head back over to where his shirt is until Amara starts to fiddle with his jeans, and that causes an abrupt stop. He glances down at her and mutters out a quiet, "Merci". He shrugs and starts walking towards the lounge chair, "He's my brother. Don't matter if I like him or not, he's family."
- Alex Summers has posed:
Alex takes Scott's lead and doesn't go into details about the sorted family tree. Also, Alex isn't one to be inclined toward going to New Orleans during the massive celebrations. He's been abducted too many times in chaos to willfully enter chaos again.
The best part of no-comment is the inability to comment because he's splashed by his brother. Alex laughs and says, "HEY!" out of reflex and it being something far better than all the heavy things weighing in his mind. Instinctively, he splashes back toward his brother, pushing both hands, cupped, and capturing water enough to try and hit his Scott, and only Scott. He definitely doesn't want to splash the girls... Remy, well, that could be fun. Then he instantly wonders if Remy can charge water...
- Paige Guthrie has posed:
"There's still two more youngins..." which have remains unnamed in the panels, alas. Paige looks to the Cajun, noticing the change in mood and she gulps, feeling a little bit bad about that. "Well, surely, there's other people to take. I mean, Amara and I want to go, right?" she says, flashing her pearly whites in his direction to try to turn that frown upside down.
It's then that she starts to swim over to Amara as she watches the three shirtless hunks frolic in the water. "You know, I wish we had a bit of popcorn right now."
- Scott Summers has posed:
"I meant my own assumption," Scott answers back at Amara midway through his next splash in the direction of Alex. Water splashes and crashes in both directions as the two brothers begin batting water at one another. A chuckle escapes Scott, as he leans to one side in an attempt to avoid the largest portion of Alex's own attack. That lean turns into a dive and soon Scott's swimming away, beneath the water's surface.
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
Frowning faintly when Remy heads around towards the lounge chairs, Amara watches him for a few moments. She lets out a small sigh, then offers up a smile when Paige swims over. Looking back to the Summers brothers, she chuckles and shakes her head, "Sorry, no food in the pool, remember?" Teasing her lightly even as she laughs over the splash war Alex and Scott are indulging in.
When Scott dives beneath the surface, Amara flashes a quick smile at Paige, then pulls herself out of the pool again, heading around the sides towards the lounge chairs. And Remy. The water cools a few degrees as she heads over. She can't make it cold, but the hot air that was warming the pool starts to recede, and the temperature in the pool starts to normalize again. Which is likely to be a little chillier than it just was.
She doesn't try to stop him, nope, she actually skips past him to hit up the cooler by the poolhouse, grabbing a pair of beers. THEN she approaches, offering him one with a faint smile. "Sorry. It sucks. But.. you still have us, right? Friends are good, too." It's not a romance for the ages, but... friendship can be a balm!
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
Remy seems lost in his own head now, Paige's comment about the others wanting to go to Mardi Gras falling on deaf ears as he starts to gather up his shirt and the remains of the bottle he was drinking, and turns to head towards the mansion. He almost runs into her when she comes up to him as he isn't really paying close attention, so the beer that appears in front of him gives him a slight startle, not that he would admit it.
He looks from the beer to the arm holding it, then to Amara proper, then back to the beer. "I'm not entirely sure you are supposed to have these," Remy says with a hint of a smile as he reaches out to take it from her. "Someone might get upset..." says the guy that has an empty whiskey bottle dangling from his fingers.
He takes a breath, "Just an open wound that got all tore up again last night, and can't get stitched, petite. Probably won't ever fully seal." He shrugs a shoulder and manages a smile, "Friends are good, oui. Still, only so much a band-aid can do." He glances back to the pool, and the people in it for a moment before he looks back to Amara, "Even a couple band-aids."
- Alex Summers has posed:
After a few splashes of water that go wayward from his diving brother, Alex stops splashing. He knows when the fight is over. Unlike that one time when they destroyed Scott's office in a sibling battle. So long ago.
Alex turns, palms the ledge of the pool, pushes himself up and then turns and takes a seat on the edge. He drips and forms a puddle around his fetching yellow cargo swim trunks. He remains seated, feet/calves in the water below and he'll look over the various people in attendance. He's not quite hungry, nor thirsty as initially thought. Instead, he's just keen on watching and being part of the simple dynamic that's going on.
- Paige Guthrie has posed:
Looking over as Amara head son over to comfort Remy, Paige decides against doing the same thing considering she's the one who had the little Rogue faux pas after all. So instead, she just leans against the back of the pool and remains content to watch the Summers brothers continue to frolic, with whatever fanfic she's writing in her head about it.
- Scott Summers has posed:
The splash-fight abandoned, Scott soon diverts his attention to the true reason for his presence: laps. He's got quite a few to accomplish before the afternoon gets late.
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
Chuckling, Amara lifts a shrug, "I grew up drinking wine and beer. So I won't tell if you won't." She pops the cap on her own and clinks the longneck against his before taking a swallow. "I have been an exemplary student here for six years. I like to think that's earned me a small amount of leeway.. and if not then I will accept the consequences and call it worth it." Winking, she tips the bottle back again for another swallow.
She glances towards the pool briefly, then back to Remy, giving a nod. "I am to be betrothed to a man of my father's choosing at some point. I await his word to tell me when I must return to Nova Roma and resume my place in my world. Regardless of who I might love." She offers a faint half-smile, then murmurs, "Not the same, I know.. but similar." Amara lifts a small shrug and offers, "Double-edged sword.. I miss my home fiercely, but I dread returning."
She glances at the others and smiles softly, nudging Remy lightly, "True... but better than being alone to stew in the pain. Come back to the pool. I think we can avoid.. touchy subjects. And maybe you can get a few minutes' respite."
- Paige Guthrie has posed:
Pulling herself from the pool, Paige gives a friendly salute to those present. "I should get going. I have a meeting with some distributors about the new plushes we're making." Yes, it seems her business with Quentin is booming, especially now that the Brotherhood is semi-public.
"I'll see y'all around!" she says, before heading out.
- Alex Summers has posed:
Alex says, "Hey Paige, wait up." And he'll stand from his seated position and add to Remy and Amara, with only a glance at lap boy Scott doing laps. He'll say to R & A. "Thanks for the fun." and he'll head out at a quicker pace to catch up with Paige. Exiting stage left.
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
Remy looks from the pool back to Amara and opens his own beer to take a sip and chuckles, "I'm wandering around here with an empty bottle of hooch. I'm not going to spill the beens, don't worry about that." The Cajun takes a seat on one of the chairs, "Fair enough. It's just, as I said, Rogue and I had a chat last night that just tore open the wound a bit more. It's still raw and bleedin'." He lifts up the bottle, as if to prove a point. Remy then looks to where Paige left with a muttered, "She don't mean anything by it. I should find her to make amends at some point."
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
Amara lifts a hand in a wave to the departing Alex and Paige, smiling, "Thanks for joining!" Then she's turning back to Remy with a nod. Joining him on the lounge chairs, she glances at the bottle and lifts a brow at him with a faint smile, "Does it have sentimental attachment? If it's empty, I can take care of it for you..."
The topic turning solemn doesn't dim her light, if anything, it gets warmer as she leans in to nudge his shoulder with hers, "I understand. And for what it's worth.. I am sorry." Glancing after Paige, she looks back to Remy and smiles softly, "Oh I'm sure she didn't. And I'm sure she knows you don't blame her. FOr now though... I have a lot of beers and nobody to drink them with. Care to join me? We can get up to hijinks. Shenanigans. Things that would make certain people scowl."
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
Remy looks at the bottle and lets out a little chuckle as he offers it over, "Non. It's value to me has depleted. Have at it." The Cajun sips at his beer and lays down on the chair, taking a moment to just breath a few times.
He looks to Amara as he tips the bottle up to take another swig, "Hijinks and shenanigans are my middle names," he says with a smirk. "I lie...it's actually Etienne." He cocks his head and takes another sip from the bottle of beer, "What did you have in mind, aside from drinking all the beer?"
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
Grinning at him, she takes the bottle, holding it away from him as her hands coats in magma, flaring hot and shattering the glas, letting it melt away in the lava's intense heat. Once the shards and splinters are gone, she shakes her head and the magma recedes once more, "There. How's that for recycling?"
"Etienne. I like that." Amara gives a warm smile and offers, "Amara Juliana Olivians Aquilla." When he asks what sort of hijinks, Amara pauses, stymied for a moment. Then she smiles brightly, "Show me your world. Lets take a walk and the wild side. I have experienced much here, but little of it... wild. Or... dodgy."
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
Remy watches as the bottle ends up being nothing more than ash and vapor and snorts with a grin, "Yeah, that's one way to do it. Incineration."
The Cajun thinks for a moment, looking Amara over and rapping his fingers on his denim-less thigh. "Petite, my world has a bunch of different wild sides. Some all glitz and glamor, some down in the seedy underbelly of society. I could take you to a high rollers club, swindling some rich folk out of their hardly earned fortunes in a game of cards, or we can visit a back room where you're just as likely to get a shiv in your ass if someone take offense. Which side you want?"
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
"Well, both sound fun, though if we choose the latter, I insist on going armed. Though... daggers and cocktail dresses go together, or so I am told. Do I get to find out, or do we go with the 'safer' option? I will be stepping out of bounds regardless. So.. you choose the one that you will enjoy most, and I will enjoy the adventure of the surprise." Amara flashes a grin at him, warm and open, fully ready and willing to jump into an unknown adventure headlong!
"Surprise me. Just give me a dress code and tell me how long I have to get ready."
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
Remy thinks about that for a long moment as he ponders the options, giving Amara a once over. "This is a quandary, because I could see you fitting in either place. I suppose we could just do both. Elegance and posh one night, not so elegant another." He thinks about that some more, "I don't know if you can get away with daggers, but between our own personal weaponry, I think we would be ok....not that the appeal of watching your lift your dress up high on your thigh to retrieve a dagger isn't a lovely mental image." He shrugs giving her a smile as he takes another sip from his beer. "Sadly, it will have to wait, since I actually do have a shift at the monitors tonight, and I promised Rhona that I would take her on a patrol around the grounds. But yeah, we will have to do this."
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
"Both is good! I could get to stretch my wardrobe for two appropriate outfits, and get to see both sides of the world you claim. It sounds like fun," Amara smiles brightly before pausing at his suggestion that she couldn't manage a dagger. A sly smile curves her lips, "Oh, you would be surprised where I can hide a weapon. I may have been trained as a soldier, but I was also a noblewoman. We had to be crafty to be armed."
Lifting a brow at his comments about her skirts and raising them up to retrieve the dagger, she chuckles softly, "Well if that's all you wanted, you could have just said so." But then reality intrudes as it has a wont to do and she gives a nod, "Perhaps I'll see you both on the grounds then. I enjoy spending evenings in the garden of late."
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
"I've hidden some things in my time, Chere. I have no doubt you can be crafty on where you put them, it's the metal detector you have to fool though." Remy says with a chuckle and a tip of his head. He looks her over again, cocking his head, "And I thought I have had a busy life. Seems you might have me beat, petite."
He laughs, "I'm not dead, chere. Regardless of how I feel at the moment in here," he taps at his chest, "I still have eyes." He winks one of those red irised eyes over at Amara with a smile as he lifts the beer up to take a sip.
He nods, "Maybe I stop by on a patrol round, no? Come say hi."
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
"Metal.. oh! Heh. I see. Oh no, not to worry there. They'll find no metal on me. Unless it will pick up jewelry? Not weaponized jewelry, just.. jewelry. I have to accessorize appropriately, after all," Amara flashes a grin towards Remy, winking at him. "My days were never boring. That said, it was all trumped the day Selene tried to sacrifice me and I ended up tossed into a live volcano. Instead of dying horribly, my powers activated. That was the last night I spent in Nove Roma. The next day my father encouraged me to return here with the X-Men, to learn of the modern world."
Pausing, she adds, "There's also the years I spent hiding in the Amazon jungle with a native tribe. That was interesting, fun, even." Amara chuckles and gives a nod, "Well, I have no objections to the attention, so look away. And to think, you haven't even seen me in a toga yet."
Nodding, Amara smiles, "I'd like that. And perhaps I will walk patrol with you for awhile."
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
Remy makes an 'ah' sound as it occurs to him what kind of daggers she meant. Obsidian of course. "No...jewelry should be fine, but I think to she second night downplaying the expensive stuff would be a better option."
"Chere, you're in a bikini." Remy laughs with a shake of his head. "Unless your version of toga is wearing less than that, I don't think that's going to make much difference."
Remy finishes the last of his beer, draining it in a couple of gulps before standing, "I'm gonna grab another. You want one?" A beat. "I wouldn't mind the company if you want to go for a stroll...but I should likely change out of these shorts, take a shower, and try to resemble someone who has a hint of responsibility."
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
"Understood. I have other things... they call it.. costume jewelry? Cheap, but it looks nice." Amara smiles at him, leaning forward a little, her free hand curling around the edge of the lounge chair. "Don't worry, I will be garbed appropriately for both occasions."
Laughing lightly, Amara smiles at him, "Ah, but that's the beauty of a toga... it can be simultaneously the most revealing and most covering garment you don. You'll see. Someday, I will wear it, and you will see." There's a mischevious smile that plays about her lips as she speaks.
"Yes, please. Thank you." Amara tilts her head at him, "I would be glad to join you on a stroll. Though I think I far prefer you as yourself, Remy. I shoulder enough responsibility for any two people."
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
Remy can't help but glance over his shoulder at her as she talks about the toga, an amused glint to his eye at at the mischievous and flirtatious way she talks about it. He reaches into the cooler and gets two more beers, popping both the tops off an bringing them over, offering one over.
"And here I thought I was trouble," he laughs with a shake of his head. "Gonna have to keep an eye on you, chere." He takes a swallow from the beer and retakes his seat, "You're as much of a flirt as I am, and that is certainly saying something." He's at least smiling again as he flops down onto the lounge chair, "You're going to break all the boys hearts."
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
Taking the bottle offered, Amara chuckles softly and offers a sly smile, "Might have to keep both eyes on me in that case. I have always been the responsible one, the good student, the good daughter. I have never indulged in the antics and frivolities that others did. I always did my duty, learned my lessons, heeded my father.." She tips the bottle back for a swallow and lifts a small shrug, "This is where I get to indulge myself."
She flashes a grin at him and shakes her head, "No, I will not break hearts. I flirt, because I have never flirted before, and it is enjoyable. None take me seriously. Because I am the serious one." Amara winks at him and murmurs, "It is easy to flirt when nobody takes you seriously."
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
Remy stands, taking another sip from his bottle and then uses it to point the neck at her in a gesture, "Sure, till you find the one that doesn't know that and does. Then you get a mess on your hands, chere. Take if from someone with experience in that sort of thing." He shrugs a shoulder and starts to gather his belongings up...which consists of his shirt. Just his shirt. "I'll see you around, Amara. I'll touch base about going out soon."
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
"Hmm. You have a point. Well then. I suppose I should reserve my flirting for you?" Amara slants a sly smile towards him before taking a sip from her bottle of beer. "Also, as someone who knows, you still flirt an awful lot. Willing to risk it being the time someone takes it seriously?" Her brows both rise up, "We are not going for a stroll?"
- Remy LeBeau has posed:
"We will...but I need a shower and to change," Remy says with a chuckle. "I stink of chlorine and...the jeans are starting to chaff," he admits as he pulls at the font of them a bit.
He looks at her and blinks, "Well, you have me there. I guess do what most people do, and just ignore every word I said then." He chuckles with a shake of his head, "I guess I have no room to talk."
- Amara Aquilla has posed:
Amara's eyes dip briefly to where he tugs at the jeans and she lets out a laugh, "Other good thing about togas. No chafing. Alright. Go shower, I'll do the same... then we can take a stroll and flirt outrageously with no concern of if the other will take it seriously."
Rising up, she moves to where she left her own things. Amara steps into her sandals, wraps the sarong around her hips, taking up the towel. Starting past him, she glances at him over her shoulder with a wink and smile, "I will keep your advice in mind. I have no wish to break hearts. Just.. have some fun." Then she's off, heading towards the college dorms!
