Friends of Humanity

Founded in 2002 Graydon Creed, The Friends of Humanity is a grass roots organization that organizes followers, hosts rallies, funds PACs and lobbyists, and tries to influence local and national politics against mutant rights. Citing acts of violence by such mutants as Magneto and Mystique, they argue that mutants represent a fundamental danger to humankind

The Friends of Humanity as an organization covers a wide range of opinions under the broad umbrella of opposing mutant civil rights. The softer extreme of the movement argue for registration and monitoring of mutants, while the militant extreme participates in organized violence against mutants and has been implicated in acts of terrorism.

The group is split on their attitude towards other metahumans. Some argue that the prevalence of the X-gene makes mutants a unique threat to the future of humankind as a species and does not extend this to other powered individuals, while others lump all powered individuals together in their dislike, significantly overlapping with anti-Alien sentiment. On the whole the Friends of Humanity try to concentrate their public opposition to mutantkind, seeing this as an easier target due to the popularity of metahumans in broader society. Thus they seek to encourage the perception of a distinction between mutants and other metahumans as much as possible to avoid a public backlash and the marginalization of their group as simple bigotry.

In 2020, using the resources he had gained through the Friends of Humanity, and with the support of the government-sponsored task-force Operation: Zero Tolerance, Graydon nominated himself as a presidential candidate. He ran on an anti-mutant platform, but was easily beaten by Lex Luthor. He has voiced a desire to stand again.
