HH 2024 Summer Trip: Part One
Date of Scene: 15 June 2024
Location: Barcelona, Spain
Synopsis: Happy Harbor schools are in Spain! Hopefully nothing bad happens!
Cast of Characters: Morrigan MacIntyre, Michael Hannigan, Caleb Dykstra, Richard Stadler, Belinda Gutierrez

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
The Summer Trip for Happy Harbor schools had started. The group that had went was large given the inclusion of College Students and faculty. There are a lot of adults around for supervision and for making sure that no one gets lost or left behind while people are sight seeing.

And given they are in Barcelona, Spain...there is a lot to see! The day has been gorgeous so far and after a very delicious lunch the gaggles of HH groups are headed off to the Sagrada Familia in the Eixample district of Barcelona. Their guide is more than happy to take their time to answer questions about the basilica or other things.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
It is a good thing that there were a sizable amount of adults around because it does allow for smaller groups. And for Mike to play the occasional bout of hooky. For... other things.

Mike's attire is a bit cleaner in appearance than it would be on US soil. Along with the lengthy hair being pulled back and secured, the jeans have been traded for slacks and the tee was switched out for a lightweight polo shirt. The shoes remain comfortable. With the sunglasses covering the pale blue of his eyes, the exposed scar on the lower right forearm is likely the most distinguishing feature about him at the moment.

The musician walks quietly along, enjoying the scenery but only halfway listening in on the guide. There are other things to consider. Most notably making sure that those in need of watching stay out of trouble. There is also the lingering reminder of pending bookings and rehearsals Wade fit into his schedule for the time he'd be over here.

Even on vacation he's working. Yay.

Caleb Dykstra has posed:
It's not easy for a certain Dykstra to be weaponless. Caleb, dressed in a pair of Jeans and a tight tee that's showing off some physique - seriously, he's been working out -, walks the streets with the group, a guitar soft case packed on his back (for when inspiration strikes). He's trying to get the most of it - and goddammit, at times it shows he's not.

Why?

Well, barring all his concerns of vampires, and mobsters, and bounties on his head that who knows, might've reached international levels by now, Sheila is not far ahead, window-shopping.

And when it comes to watching over her, it's him, then God, then the teachers the group is with.

Richard Stadler has posed:
One would think Rick would get tired of jet setting around the world, but who could? You get to see new and exciting places, talk with new cultures, even practice the few words of Spanish that he knew! Not that he was going to relay on it, of course. He looked enough like a tourist with the sport jacket over a dress shirt (not exactly the best sort of clothing for the temperature, but he had his own style, damn it). Yes, he did have that passport holder around his neck, and he was staring at a paper (yes, paper) map of Barcelona, occasionally looking up to identify landmarks. "SO that... that is a construction, supposedly. It's still not finished, apparently-", He's muttering to himself, before looking up. "Hey, Mr. Dykstra, keep things a bit closer, all right, no need to get us strung out so much!" He calls out.

A bit of a sigh, before he looks over to Morrigan. "I really wished we'd have gone for something more south. Closer to Rota or Moron. You don't plan on having anyone kill you this time, right?"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan is indeed on the trip, but she has been sticking near the back of things. Which is apparently where Richard is as well. She's dressed in a white shirt and a black linen skirt that gives a little extra swish to her walk. She is also carrying a parasol given the amount of sun and her sunglasses are firmly in place.

Richard's question makes her look amused, "Ah...no, I was not planning on dying on this trip." she shakes her head. She does look thoughtful at his comment on places, "If they are close to Seville there is still a chance to visit since that's our next stop." she points out.

Then she is giving a look to make sure that everyone is following their guides and not trying to hack it on their own.

The tour guide at the front starts to give the history of the Sagrada Familia: "On March 19th 1882, construction of Sagrada Familia began under architect Francisco de Paula del Villar. In 1883, when Villar resigned, Gaudi took over as chief architect, transforming the project with his architectural and engineering style, combining Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau forms. Gaudi devoted the remainder of his life to the project, and he is buried in the church's crypt. At the time of his death in 1926, less than a quarter of the project was complete." they explain.

"Relying solely on private donations, Sagrada Familia's construction progressed slowly and was interrupted by the Spanish Civil War. In July 1936, anarchists from the FAI set fire to the crypt and broke their way into the workshop, partially destroying Gaudi's original plans. In 1939, Francesc de Paula Quintana took over site management, which was able to go on due to the material that was saved from Gaudi's workshop and that was reconstructed from published plans and photographs." they continue as they walk with the groups.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
As Rick calls out Caleb, Mike glances to the soft case upon the student's back. "...Honestly the hotel has excellent security," Mike comments, "You didn't need to take your instrument with you." He sure as heck had his instruments locked away. "Considering how planned out the day is, when were you expecting to play that?"

Mike glances back over to Rick as he comments about the killing. "Hey...Not ALL of these trips end with her being killed." He protests, "...sometimes it's someone else."

Thanks Punisher.

"And... third time's the charm perhaps?"

Caleb Dykstra has posed:
"Who says this is meant to be played?" He looks at Mike. Deadpan. "Have you ever seen 'Desperado'?" Shit-eating grin follows, paired with a wiggle of his eyebrows.

He wouldn't - would he?

Followed by a full-blown laugh, "Seriously, you need to lighten up. Slip up as it may've been that time, I was handling dangerous stuff long before we met."

He comes to a halt, followed by multiple blinks, "You wanna run that by me again, Mr. Stadler?" He looks between Morrigan, Rick, and Mike - they're sure more in the loop than he is.

And at least, he has the presence of mind of keeping his voice down.

Richard Stadler has posed:
Stadler give a look over to Caleb as he speaks. "No, Mr. Dykstra. No, I don't think I'd like to." He says, with that mild tone of voice that indicates to the youngin's about things above their paygrade. "The need for metaphor overtook me, if that will help you a bit more. And while Mike's more liable to 'lighten up' as it were, I'm less of the type-"

There's a quick look made over to the left, a standard motion to keep his eyes open, that has him stopping in mid sentence with a bit of a wince and a reflexive hand to his side. "Just try to keep that talk to a minimum." He ends, mildly. No need to push him /too/ much for his own paranoia. Well developed as it is.

To Morrigan, he shakes his head. "Oh, no, nothing much to see at those locations... just... feel a bit more comfortable being close to them. I know an officer at Moron, or for the moment. Got activated and deployed over to deal with some commo malarky. Always good to touch base with those kind of folks."

And Rick's certainly paying attention to the talk from the guide with more than half a year. Really. Over fifty years; well, the 30's and 40's were a... tumultuous time for Europe in general. Funds were probably quite hard to come by.

Belinda Gutierrez has posed:
Spain-- where Belinda Gutierrez has an accent for totally different reasons than when speaking English!

And keeping a very sharp eye on the teachers. And fellow students. And future fellow students!

"Stay hydrated!" Belinda makes the last call-out, positively quivering once anew with that forever-energy of youth. Excitement, wild euphoria-- the young lady is everywhere at once it seems, trying to assert some tiny measure of order to the controlled semi-chaos of the outing. And people. People, turistas, EVERYWHERE. Herding cats? Herding cats. Focused confidence!

Sparing an eye for the great architecture, she sighs wistfully, a dreamy expression on her face. Listen to guide. Focus!

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan gives a look to Caleb, "It better not be like the guitar in Desperado." she chuckles to that. "Unless Antonio Banderas is going to pop out of it. Then I might allow it." she muses.

She cringes though when the death stuff is brought up. There is a moment she stops when the newly minted College Student asks Richard about running stuff by him, "Mister Dykstra, everyone is fully aware that there was an incident a long time ago. I'd like to not bring it up during a time of peace and downtime for us." she states.

"I could always port you over if you want to have dinnr or something with them. It would be no trouble." she tells Richard with a smile.

"Can we try to keep up with the tour?" she paints on a smile for everyone that was in the back! "Belinda are you having fun?" she asks her. Tyler, Declan and Delia have started to hang back as well, given the level of axiety that has spiked in some of the older students.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike gives Caleb a blank look to the mention of the title. "...No I haven't." He responds, "But considering the context I can only guess what you're aiming for." He shakes his head, growing quiet to Rick's reminder of the tour going on.

Third time's the charm. Nothing's going to go wrong. Some concerts, lay low and enjoy some tours incogni-

Mike pauses, frowning as he gets a general feeling. Turning his head he looks to the gathered crowd outside, but as Mo reminds people to catch up, he aborts the glance about and follows inside.

Caleb Dykstra has posed:
Caleb retorts, "No, no Antonio Banderas. Not even his guitar." It's too thin to be a regular guitar. "Travel guitar, with it's own amp included and everything." He adds, "Certainly some of you saw me playing every now and then by now."

He looks between the teachers, "But to really go overboard... I'd've prefered the rocket-launcher one." He even tries for an wicked laugh, there.

At the mention of keeping up, he nods, and turns to the group to catch up. Still, he asks Mike, "Something wrong, man?"

Richard Stadler has posed:
"No problem, Doctor MacIntryre." He says. And to his credit, he sounds mostly chastened while doing it. THe proper way to work, in this case. He /did/ bring up the joke after all, and it certainly wouldn't do to let Caleb feel like he was in the wrong for it. Every day, another opportunity for life lessons!

Rick does happen to stick with the tour group, as best he can, his hand moving away from his right side gingerly after he feels like he's got things secure. Perhaps there's a bit of a proud eye toward Belinda on the subject of hydration (why, common sense in weather such as this? Something to be celebrated!). Morrigan gets a quick shake of his head. "Oh, no, that's fine; Like to keep all that magic jumping around and teleporting to a minimum. Keeps me grounded, having to walk and drive and fly about..." He says, before looking thoughtful. "Though, it /would/ be something to have pictures of Barcelona 20 minutes before I end up down in Southern Spain. You know, that sort of 'aura of mystery'. How'd he get down there, who does he know... Let me get back to you on that."

But. back to the tour here, before Rick shakes his head toward Caleb. "Not exactly the best sort for it. The materials, I mean. Certainly there are ones you could hide a bit better than a guitar case..." He says, his eyes back over to Mike. "Looks like that concern me. Anything I should know about?"

"Ms. Gutierrez, just leave the organizing to the teachers; get a bit further up here!"

Belinda Gutierrez has posed:
"Si!" Belinda sings in answer to Ms. Morrigan, a bundle of energy given human form. Wearing a semi-Sunday best for the tour, she still effects that rotating guard/organizer mentality, overlayed with the simple, grand, profound excitement that only a new environment can bring. Sights! Sounds!

Smells. So many smells. Some more deliciously tempting than others. Chicken? Beef? Tortillas!

"Si-- yes, Professor," she calls out when Mr. Stadler calls her. Though she bites down the urge to chase a few stragglers back into the group, she (mostly) calms down, drifting back into the main group with a sigh. A longer breath, becoming an exhale; in this moment of (relative) peace, enjoying what is -- for her -- a grand vacation. No troubles from home. No worries. Just time and travel and ten thousand marvelous new things!

"....Banderas?" she whispers, quivering anew. "Who-where-what-when?!?"

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
Morrigan's mood had already started to tank, but she was trying to keep a smile on her face. "Antonio was indeed rather handsome in that movie." she chuckles.

She gives a soft smile to Richard, "You didn't do anything. You're a Saint." she tells him. "And I'd be glad to add to the 'International Man of Mystery' feel if you want." she gives a mischievous grin to that.

Then there is a look to Michael and a bit of a worry sets in, was something wrong? Are we all paranoid?!

There is a smile to Belinda, "Yes, Banderas." she tells her. "I don't think he's making a cameo for us today though." she admits.

Then there is a moment taken to quiet down and just enjoy the moment...and not start smoking in the sun. That's why she has a big ass bottle of water! And the parasol.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Mike quickens his steps to make sure he's catching up with the group. The question directed his way isn't answered immediately as his expression becomes a bit thoughtful. There wasn't anything really standing out when he glanced around. But-

Mike looks over to Rick and Caleb, expression a bit withdrawn, "I'm not re-"

"Maestro Drago?!" A voice from behind calls out

Mike closes his eyes to the sound.

Well that answers that.

"...Probably a fan." Mike offers in response to the voiced concerns. Considering the nature of fans it's probably not going to be all that great for the guide.

There's a sigh. "You guys go ahead, I'll catch up later."

With that determination, Mike's expression reforms, going to a practiced smile as he turns around to the sound of the inquiry. Considering the sounds afterwards, Mike's assessment may end up being right.

"Maestro Drago eres tu! Gracias por el frasco de Raphael. Mi hermana estaba muy enferma y eso me ayudo mucho..."

The rest of the conversation is lost as Mike goes the opposite direction of the tour.

Thank goodness for translation apps.

Caleb Dykstra has posed:
Caleb seems a little lost as when Rick talks about the materials. Does he mean materials for the guitar? "Well, it's a carbon fiber on a soft case. Real nifty and everything..."

He quickly looks at Mike and the fans approaching, so he quickly says almost in a whisper:

"I believe the spanish would say..." He deadpans, "Ay hermano, estas jodido... Te reconocieron!"

Shit-eating grin again, and he turns his attention back to the group as Mike goes (or gets dragged away!).

"Muy interessante..." He rteurns his attention to the group.

Richard Stadler has posed:
Oh lord. Did Rick just hear the word 'Maestro' in reference to Mike's other name? Granted, the fact that there wasn't an actual threat to deal with was certainly a countering comfort, but that still hurt to hear, and Rick just had to grimace. Not that he could understand more than a handful of the other words. Hermana meant 'sister', he was certain, but the rest- Oh, there was Maestro again. Lord keep him from groaning.

"I try my level best." He instead says to Morrigan. "But Sainthood, oh, I wouldn't go that far. Neither for the 'International Man of Mystery'. That's spook talk; I just like... occupying a space in people's heads. Makes it easier to call them up if I need to for a favor... which has come in handy. Quite a few times."

Belinda is back in front, at the very least, if only looking for movie stars (or, rather, better looking probably more famous movie stars... no offense to Mike). "We just had lunch." He reminds her. "I can't /stop/ you from going that tortilla stand you're eyeing, just... we have dinner plans." He has to remind her.

And Mike is getting pulled away. Wonderful. "Carbon fiber does work well. A little expensive, but I suppose it could take the blastback if you needed it."

Belinda Gutierrez has posed:
Belinda has a bottle of sunscreen in her carry bag too! Too big for a purse, not quite the right size for a backpack, the best word would be 'satchel'. Loaded with possible things like first aid materials, just in case water and parasol is not enough or Something Unexpected occurs. A glance to Ms. MacIntyre, eye on everyone, everything, everywhere else.... and potentially on the lookout for one of those street vendors and the totally not-distracting deliciousness wafting faintly through the throng daring to ruin one's dinner plans. Not that dinner plans are /ever/ ruined by more eating. Mmm.

Priorities.

"Que mala suerte," she murmurs, sighing wistfully. A bummer. No Banderas! Sorrow.

Morrigan MacIntyre has posed:
They are nearing the end of the Sagrada tour when Michael is pulled away by fans. Morrigan gives a very deep frown, but she is sure he'll be fine. Returned unharmed. Or there would be unhappy folks!

Morrigan stops by the door that is the exit, allowing folks to flood out while they chatter to each other. "If anyone needs to take a break or something I'm going to head back to the hotel for a few and let Duncan and others continue on with the guided tour. I am reaching my sun threshold." she admits to that.

Better to admit it than burn out.

Caleb Dykstra has posed:
"It's composite, made in a mold, really. Harder than wood, easier to make..." He adds, "Seriously, great brands out there, lots of options... Tress will end up thanking you."

He deadpans. Wait... Can take the backblast, if he needs it...

He blinks at Rick. "Riiiiiiiiiiiight..." He's going to err on the side of caution here. "Really hard to dint it. It plays real nice, too! You'll see! Just get into a place with karaoke, and maybe with some exception play along..."
