Titaning 101
Date of Scene: 02 May 2023
Location: The Danger Room - Titan's Tower
Synopsis: Donna and Kaida give Jinx and Phantasm a little insight into teamwork, Titans Style!
Cast of Characters: Donna Troy, Jinx, Michael Hannigan, Kaida Connolly

Donna Troy has posed:
This is new. Not training per se, but training aimed specifically at those who are not full-time Titans. Those who have access to the tower are told they are welcome to training sessions, and there are scheduled sessions they can find marked on the calendar where they can, if they wish, pick up some useful combat tips. This, apparently, is something more general. 'Some of the stuff you just pick up over time if you're a Titan, but that would be useful to the rest of you to know', the message had read. Apparently this was going to be a Thing now.

What had inspired this? Perhaps simply that the Titans have an ever-growing list of allies and associates who spend time with the team. Possibly something else, some recent events that might have indicated that there's some learning to be done. Possibly a phone call.

There is a clue to what has inspired this. When people arrive at the Danger Room, they will find that it is already switched on, generating a holographic arena with a monster truck in it. The monster truck is painted pink, covered in glitter, and has golden tassels on the hub caps. You'd probably only know what that was about if you'd watched the recent pilot episode of 'Bounty Babes', or were Jinx. It's undoubtedly meaningful.

Leaning against the Monster Truck is Instructor 1, also known as Troia, or Donna Troy. She has a reputation around the tower for being something of a merciless trainer, who believes if you're training for less than four hours a day you're doing something wrong. Perhaps the other full-time Titan will be an easier instructor to deal with. The rumor goes that you can distract her with cheese.

    We'll see.

Jinx has posed:
"Some notes, just right off the bat - I'm feeling" Jinx pinches her finger tips together in front of her, "a little target right now." Still there's a smile of accomplishment on her face. She took down a criminal with her friend Harley and it was televised.

How Harley a) got a bounty hunting license, and b) got an offer to make a reality tv show - Jinx really isn't sure. But when the producers approached her about Harley's upcoming birthday everything sort of fell in to place.

"Computer, add a cheering crowd." Hey Jinx doesn't know how the danger room actually works. It might be a star trek holodeck for all she knows. But then she changes up tactics. "Naw, it's all good. I'm excited to practice driving a monster truck. May be this time I can be in the drivers seat..."

This is, technically, the first time she's done a 'Titans' thing as a legally bonded aid to the Titans. She's decided to give it an actual try and that is most obvious by the tone of her voice - she sounds kinda happy to know where she stands.

She never gave much credence to the law before but that document spells out her obligations nicely. There's no gaslighting about what she should or shouldn't be doing. Not like when she was growing up in H.I.V.E. as an awkward magical teenager.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Despite being involved in the entertainment industry, Mike's TV watching is a little under developed. That is of course, a very wordy lead into the general statement that Mike has NOT watched the latest episode of - whatever that show is called.

That combined with his just coming back into the country less than 24 hours ago and-

Well. As Mike walks in, he comes to a stop, looking to the truck. He's dressed down in what could be termed a costume in the barest sense of the definition. There is a mask in the hoodie portion somewhere and due to a CONVENIENT MEMO regarding one supervillain hanging in the tower, the hood is up with the mask tugged over his face. Without the mask and gloves, it'd just be glorified, cost efficient exercise wear. Perhaps he's expecting to go on a jog around Central Park or something with that outfit.

A brow archs in response to the truck. "...Did Terry decorate?" The rock star inquires.

Kaida Connolly has posed:
Zipping into the room at surprising speed, Kaida zips along, leaps and casually leaps on to Donna's shoulder. She doesn't even seem to think anything about it when she lands on Donna's shoulder, as if it were perfectly normal for person to stand on another person's shoulder. Of course, she's only six inches tall so it isn't as strange.

"Listen up!" Kaida crosses her tiny armos and raises her jaw slightly, "It's time to train and that means it's serious time!" She points a finger at Jinx and nods, "And that means you!" She then puts her hands on her hips and points to Michael next before she suddenly leaps into the air, her pointing finger never leaving Michael as she leaps up on to the truck and then points down at the truck.

"Enemies, situations, and scenarios come in all shapes, sizes, and sparkles!" She nods her head, "You gotta be prepared even when things get crazy!"

Donna Troy has posed:
There's no more reaction from the standee than the stander when it comes to Kaida on Donna's shoulder. It's not unusual for Kaida to use Donna's shoulder as a suitable perch for appearing at other people's eye level rather than trying to attract their attention towards the ground. Donna is entirely comfortable with this.

Scratch that. Donna loves it. Who wouldn't want a fierce shoulder-mouse with a sword perching on their shoulder? It's cool.

"They might even get so crazy it looks like Terry decorated a monster truck," Donna adds to Kaida's words with a nod of agreement. "In such cases it's worth considering the potential damage that may be caused. Yes there is insurance for such things. No that's not a good reason to just not worry about it and run over Lamborghinis."

Donna straightens up and walks a few paces away from the truck, towards Mike and Jinx. The scene seems frozen around her, and no cheering crowd is added. "Okay, so this isn't going to be a tough training session. We're not going to run you guys through anything tough. This is more about giving you a better idea of how the Titans operates so that you aren't caught out, and you don't do things in ways that reflect badly on the Titans, and more importantly that reduces the chances of getting an ideal outcome."

"We're going to start with a pop quiz about superhero teams. Jinx, you've run with a team before, but it wasn't a superhero team. Phantasm, your teamwork experience mostly comes from working with us and observing how we do things, but you've worked in other areas that are maybe similar in some respects too. " Donna /never/ calls Mike 'Phantasm', but for once he's masked so she's going with codenames. "So, question. What happens if a member of a superhero team isn't pulling their weight?"

Jinx has posed:
Jinx stares at the little mighty mouse and her eyebrow raises higher than she realised it could. "This," she motions to the pink monster truck, "was all Duana's daughter's idea. It's a crowd pleaser though. So, no, Terry didn't create this monstrocity, a 6 year old girl did." Which might say a lot about Terry's tastes.

But then the Lambourghini is mentioned and Jinx knows -exactly- who Donna has been talking to. "Ah" Agent Shatner, who sadly doesn't sound anything like William Shatner. Who knew more than one person could have the surname Shatner..

"You know for a guy whose job it is to fix up the damage caused by villains, you'd think he'd be happy it was only -one- Lambourghini..." Jinx grins a touch more.

"Yeeah so I'm guessing you want the answers about how things -were- done not how I think they should have been done? You know, for exciting villainous contrast. I mean, when I was in charge no one listened to me anyway buuut whatever..."

Her hands fold and she puts most of her weight on one leg. "... just to reiterate," as she hears the pop quiz question, "this is just how things were done in the Five. If someone isn't pulling their weight there'd be passive aggressive pranks played by the team members and the team leader, moi, would discipline them."

She smirks a moment looking at Phantasm and Kaida, then back to Donna, "Which usually involved significant amounts of bondage and humiliation." A small sigh. This was learned behavior. Monkey see monkey do. She suffered plenty of it herself and then dished it back. Not that she actually -liked- any of those people. They truly were horrid. But pot and kettle, perhaps she is too.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Catching a little blur speed to the side of his view, the black fabric covered face of the musician turns slightly. While from the distance the fabric does its job to hide his features, the thin set of the material doesn't do much to blocking his own view.

As Kaida makes her way to the top of the truck, the head tilts slightly, politely watching the speech while she's till pointing at him. When Donna speaks up again, he glances over to Donna, listening to her introduction. He's been to a variety of team building exercises for different groups but the key descriptor for those groups is 'different.'

As Jinx explains what her old group would do he gives a slight tilt. "It does depend on the group." Phantasm agrees.

Sort of.

...

Wait, Bondage? What the HELL type group was that?

"And what the current situation is. You can't exactly have a heart to heart conversation over tea when trying to stop an apocalypse or multi-named God. So, there's a mix of compensating for the other and making a mental list of things to bring up the next chance you get."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
Kaida does her best to nod along with Donna, making it clear she agrees with everything that Donna has to say about these situations and then she hears what Jinx has to say. She blinks once and then she casually slides down the side of the truck to land then on the tire and shifts.

"What some teams do in the privacy of their own, umm, team, is between them and their leaders?" She seems unclear about what to do there but then leans to the side. She peers at Jinx, puts her thumb and pinky up to her face and mouths 'Call me' before clearing her throat and then looking back to Donna.

"Well, we train here. We assess and we train to be better. No pranking, sometimes poking fun if the mistake is particularly amusing, and then we train."

Donna Troy has posed:
Donna gets a thoughtful look for a moment and quickly shakes her head. Dismissing an idea, or trying to get an image out of her mind. "Right. The heart-to-hearts come /after/ you've finished stopping the apocalypse, Phantasm. The thing is that there's no competition here. There's no such thing as not pulling your weight."

"If someone's not doing much, then the worst they are going to get is a sympathetic discussion to determine whether they're uncomfortable, if they got worries, or whatever. Maybe that seems less fun to you Jinx, but I'd prefer to have someone hang back rather than try to tackle something they're not ready to tackle, and putting themselves or other people in danger by doing that."

"What we want out of team members, including temporary ones, associates, allies going on missions with us or whatever, is that they remember that when they are working with us, they are part of a team that supports each other. You don't need to prove yourselves, you don't need to do anything that doesn't suit your skills. You can always ask for help or advice and it won't be considered a sign of weakness to be exploited, but rather that you're smart enough to communicate."

"Communication is the single most important thing to working in a team. If there's something you think of that you can do in a situation, communicate what you're going to do so you don't take people by surprise and end up getting tangled in someone else's action. If you don't know what to do, ask. If someone's talking to you, listen. And at the end of it, as Kaida says, after the mission, if you've realized there was something you weren't prepared for, let us know and we'll help you get better at it."

Donna walks out of the Danger Room's projection area, motioning to Jinx and Mike to join her over by the control console. Her fingers dance over the controls. "Kaida, in a few moments that truck is going to start moving." A Lamborghini appears at the opposite end of the room from the truck. Through the window of the car a child can be seen in the back seat, as frozen as the rest of the scenario. "Out of control truck. Civilian lives in danger. I want you to show them how you'd resolve this."

Jinx has posed:
"Yeeeah we didn't really do 'heart to heart' in the Five," she responds to Phantasm's explanation of how things are done in his world. "More like, do what I tell you to do or you'll get beat to shit." She twists her lips. When things go from 'not pulling your weight' to 'disobeying' things got real messy real quick. And that's often how leadership changed.

Jinx's grin widens at Kaida's little 'call me' gesture and she wiggles her eyebrow in response. The head shake from Donna widens her grin a little more. "No competition. Yeah... see that actually sounds team-like. The Five were a shit show of egos and violence."

"So.. question then. Say you're not good at driving a monster truck from the passenger seat. How does communication help when the person you're with is unconscious because they were being stupid..." Should she have stopped the monster truck and called in backup? that's what the interviewer in the Confessional scenes had asked her. She's still thinking on that one.

She leaves the activate area and approaches the controls with Donna and finger guns to Kaida, "Prepare to dazzle me shortstuff. That baby could one day grow up to be important in history - like Hitler." Helping.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
As Kaida lists what the Titans aren't supposed do, Phantasm's shoulders raise slightly. There is likely an expression to pair with it but that is kept from the group.

As Jinx elaborates on what a team discussion involves with her last group, the masked face slowly turns, directing the open part of the hood in her general direction. "That sounds like a pretty shitty place to work." He comments, walking over to the console. "Wouldn't want to deal with that day in and day out."

He glances over to the truck, then to the car.

"Are all four of us involved or less than that?"

Kaida Connolly has posed:
Watching Donna walk away with the other two, Kaida leaps down from the tire and looks at the slowly appearing car before looking to the truck. She then looks back at Donna before shrugging and nodding her head.

"Seems extremely unfair for the truck." She watches it start to rev up and begin moving toward the car. She casually considers showboating but then she shrugs and pulls out her sword. She races around the side of the truck and drives her blade right into the tire. It doesn't even burst the tire or stop it. Her sword isn't that long.

No, she uses it to whip her upward and she leaps, pulling her blade free and landing on the hood. She then runs a quick circle and cuts the hood open and leaps inside.

Donna Troy has posed:
Donna grins at Mike. "I didn't say who was involved, did I?" she says. "Which means you /could/ be running in and helping."

There's a grinding sound from inside the truck, no doubt caused by whatever Kaida is up to in there, and the truck starts to slow. The engine dies, but the truck continues to roll, if slowly.

There's a gust of wind by the console, as Donna rushes over to the car, pushing it out of the way of the now slowly rolling truck. Just about the time the truck would have crashed into the car if it was still there, it comes to a sudden halt. Both truck and car disappear, leaving Kaida floating on a disk of blue glowing light a few feet above the ground, hacking with her sword at things that are no longer there. Donna flashes the mouse a grin before looking back at Mike and Jinx.

"That wasn't planned -- I had no idea what option Kaida was going to choose. What she chose was to give time for her team mates to rescue the kid from the car. She had plenty of other options, but she made a decision and she went for it, so I backed her up. The worst thing you can do in an emergency situation is to stop argue about how to solve it while it's busy happening. I trusted her to come up with something, and she trusted me to play my part."

"Now you may say that was done /without/ communication, but that's not exactly true. Kaida's been on the Titans two years. We're used to working with each other, we've communicated a lot in the past, and we've built up a lot of trust. That isn't something that you can learn in the Danger room, it takes time. In the case of you two, because you're less used to working with the team than we are, communication is that much more important. If you act, you're going to get backed up. But we're not used to working with you, so it's a good idea to let us know what you're planning."

Donna offers a hand to Kaida to ride back on before the blue disk vanishes from underneath her and dumps her on the ground. "With that in mind... Phantasm, Jinx, what would you do with the same scenario, if you were the one on point?"

Jinx has posed:
Jinx watches the interesting solution and folds her arms. Destroying the monster truck would likely also have Damage Control complaining. Probably less so since even though they're bespoke, they aren't nearly as expensive as the Lambourghini. Still, it's about the child in the car not the cost of the car.

"I was thinking about it while I was being slightly disturbed by how sharp shortstuff's sword is.." She motions to the Danger Room. "Problem is I can't use my bad luck in here or it'll blow the whole system and we'd all be in real danger. And I can't use my magic because..." she pauses. She doesn't know Phantasm or Kaida well enough to spill her weakness.. "...because. So I can't really test out the theory until a monster truck is about to crush a child."

A swishy finger in to the air, "But I think I'd just deignite the engine. Presumably this is happening outside in the real world so I can use my elemental skills on it. Fire control - yeah - I was a bit of a fire bug in my teens. I latched on to it first. Then I'd use the wind to stop the car if it's still rolling. Easy peasy. No angry Damage Control agents on the phone with anyone. I suppose someone should arrest the driver too if there is one."

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Alright.

Just those two then.

With the others demonstrating that they didn't really need them for the scenario. Phantasm hangs back, just watching the show, glancing to the rest of the scenery for anything else out of place.

And then they're asked what they would have done.

Phantasm looks to the now empty scene. "It would depend on who else is here, how they behaved and what was going on. If most people were going to the truck, I'd probably go to the car to get anyone in the car out. If most people were going to the car, I'd go over to the truck to disable the engine. If they were equally being dealt with I'd probably hang back to see if there was anything else going on that needs attention."

Kaida Connolly has posed:
A blink comes to Kaida as she is suddenly standing on a disc and she looks around. She then grins at Donna and shrugs before she leaps down to Donna's hand and gets a ride down to the floor. She flicks her blade out once before sliding it into its sheath and looking to Jinx.

"Very sharp." She states to her with a grin before turning her gaze to Donna briefly to listen to her and then she turns to Jinx. She listens to what each of the other two have to say before she considers and nods her head.

"I think Donna's point is to act and trust. You really need to also be trustworthy." She nods her head to the pair before shrugging, "I know that what needs to happen is to act and to try. Could I have done this alone? Maybe." She states and then looks at Donna and then back to the pair.

"I knew she was here. I knew others were here in general but acting is what is important. Being indecisive is a poor plan."

Donna Troy has posed:
Donna grins a little when Jinx comments on the sharpness of Kaida's sword. "Kaida earned the eternal respect of the Amazons, and found herself in need of a new sword. We make very, very good steel. "

She nods her head once in crisp agreement with Kaida's comments. "Right. Trust takes time. It takes getting to understand how people act in difficult situations. We've had time to build that, so we didn't need to say anything. If Kaida started breaking into the car, I'd have gone over to stop the truck instead. We trust each other to do our part."

She gives a nod in Mike's direction. "Phantasm's remarks are good. It depends on who else is there, and how they behave, indeed. That's always the question, and that's why being with a team you can trust to do the right thing is a huge bonus. When you don't know us all that well, the smart thing is to take the lead from someone who's spent more time with the team. And if you think we're doing something wrong? Then fine, tell us. Nobody's going to be mad at you, but if you act without us expecting it, things can go awry."

"Jinx, one of the reasons your guys were never going to beat the Titans in the long run is because however much you had individually, you were always looking over your shoulders. You couldn't trust each other to do the right thing, and that puts you at a disadvantage. But also, you're competitive. You didn't trust each other in a more fundamental way than just not knowing that the other person was going to do the right thing. You had to prove that you were valuable, and that's a weakness because it means you're putting something ahead of getting the job done in the best possible way."

She moves back over to the console and starts tapping away at it. "Right, in a minute I'm going to give you two a scenario to work out. This should be fairly familiar to Jinx. It's a bit of an odd one because technically the truck won't actually be moving, because there's just not that much space in here. Instead the road will be moving past you."

As she taps away, the truck reappears in the middle of the floor. There's a holographic Harley slumped over the wheel, with cartoon birds flying circles over her head. A row of parked cars appears running along side it, and ahead of the truck another truck is visible, apparently a few dozen feet ahead, and tilted slightly as if taking a very sharp turn though it's still frozen.

"So, I had a call from an Agent Shatner from the Department of Damage Control, Jinx. Questioning, as he put it, 'far too much damage'. Wanted to know if I thought you were in breach of your deal with the FBI. He had some pretty uncomplimentary things to say about you. Want to guess what I said to him?"

Donna steps back and nods towards the pink truck. "Okay Jinx, Phantasm, climb in. When you're ready I'll hit the start and you can take the scenario, Your job is to catch the truck ahead while allowing as little damage as possible. Or indeed causing as little damage as possible. Any questions?"

Jinx has posed:
Jinx notes the whole 'team work makes the dream work' angle. To be fair - her team were exactly as Donna describes them. Not really 'her' team for that matter. Just a bunch of people who had no other choice. Some of them liked it that way... most of them. "Yeah that's fair."

"A fair cop. Every one of them was their own special and unique snowflake out for themselves vaguely adhering to the mission parameters handed down to use by H.I.V.E..." She frowns and chuckles. "Still, the individual powers of the members were pretty high. That's why you had so much trouble against us - why people still struggle against the Five."

Also why her solution to the monster truck scenario was to do it all herself. "..and also why you ended up beating us. But hey, that's all they ever wanted of H.I.V.E.. a big scary distraction so no one saw what they were really up to."

She huffs at the admission of contact with Shatner. It's a trick question - she knows that. Donna is a smooth operator so she thinks on it for a moment and says, "You said you're sure Jinx did the best she could and you'd work with her to do better." A small smirk.

She looks at the truck and sighs, "You know just because I've done it badly once doesn't mean I'll suddenly be better at it. Yo, Phantasm - how are you at driving a monster truck from the passenger seat? I suuuck at it." She walks over and climbs up on to the truck and pats the virtual Harley on the head.

"Just to be clear Donna - I used magic to catch us up to the other monster truck in real life. I can't actually do that here..." And she couldn't just turn its engine off either when it really happened. It drove away from them too fast.

Michael Hannigan has posed:
Phantasm looks to the one truck and then to the other truck and then to the distance between the two along with the perceived speed of the two vehicles.

Due to the drab nature of his attire and no exposed scar to betray the process, the switch over to his abilities are subtle.

After all, if the start of the scenario has him already in this truck, he's probably already alerted enough to have switched over by now.

The glovebox is opened, rifling through to pull out what looks to be a users manual. Also something he'd probably have done at some point.

"And that's why we're doing the team thing. You won't have to steer for long." Phantasm responds. While not visible, the tone of voice betrays a somewhat smile under the mask. Not quite cheerful but more what one does when trying to be reassuring.

The manual rolls up in his gloved hand. And much to the chagrin to driver's education instructors reading this, he doesn't buckle up either. "Ready!"

Once the scenario starts, he looks to Jinx, "When I say stop. Hit the brakes."

With little more beyond that, he hops forward, passing through the windshield with the manual without breaking the glass. The legs bend as he readies for a visibly ill advised... jump?

"Stop!"

Kaida Connolly has posed:
Looking at the new scenario, Kaida steps back from it and shifts a little when her pack buzzes. She pulls out a watch without the bands from it and peers at the stuff on the screen before she looks to Donna.

"Sorry, gotta go. I know you got this. I trust you." She winks and then she's gone in a flicker of speed before she can get deeply involved.

Donna Troy has posed:
Donna nods to Jinx. "Yep, we have trouble simulating the effects of magic. You're going to have to work without it here. On the other hand you didn't have Phantasm with you last time, and hopefully this session has helped you see possibilities you didn't see last time. Finally, this is training. Nobody's going to get hurt, and if it doesn't work out, it just means you need a bit more help. Because that's what the Titans do. There's no punishment for failing, Jinx."

Donna winks at Mike, raps on the door of the truck after it's closed, and goes back to the console. Just before she triggers it, she looks back over to the truck.

"Wrong, Jinx. I told him that you saved lives and caught the bad guys, and the calculation that sometimes it takes property damage to achieve that is why his job exists. I told him that if he was going to question one of /my/ people being involved in some TV show while on the job I'd like to know how much /his/ appearance fee was. And I told him that if you and Harley cause more property damage than most, it's because you're new at being heroes and if he thinks you two being heroes rather than villains isn't a good investment, he's dumb as a sack of rocks. And I told him that if he thought I was going to listen to some dumb desk-jockey criticizing you and Harley when you were out there risking your lives to catch the bad guys, he was delusional. Titans isn't like your old gang, Jinx. Get used to it. And go stop that truck!"

Donna winks back at Kaida and gives her a quick wave as the mouse heads out, then hits the start button on the console. With that the scenario is on! Monster trucks weaving wildly across the road, the one in the lead already smashing into parked cars! Jinx once more struggling to steer the behemoth from the passenger seat! And Phantasm... demonstrating to Jinx why he's so named, perhaps?

Jinx has posed:
Jinx is strapping herself in to the seat as Donna is giving a recount of her conversation with Shatner. A look of bewilderment flashes across her face and she stares out the window at Donna as if she's a total badass. Her speed, strength, martial skills.. nope, that didn't do it for her. It's stuff like this. Now she gets why Terry hasn't convinced her he's a leader yet.

"Damn Donna..." then the car is moving and she snaps her attention back to the road. "No magic eh.. fine." This time she's going to do things differently because she does learn. She snaps off her seat belt and climbs in to Harley's lap.

"Nice thighs Harls," she says to the unconscious simulatious as she takes control of the vehicle at a proper angle. Monster trucks are not easy to 'aim' exactly and several cars do indeed get semi-crushed. But not nearly as bad as what happened in the real scenario.

She double takes as Phantasm phases through the window. "Yeah.. sure.. why the hell not." No machine gun in this version of the scenario to worry about - not that she can deflect the bullets with magic in this variation.

As he calls for Stop. Well, who is she to stand in the way of some insane move. She works with Harley after all!. She slams the brakes and watches Phantasm go flying...

Michael Hannigan has posed:
And with the screech of the brakes, Phantasm takes in the outside visuals and sounds to seemingly boost his movements. He launches forward, moving at a speed that doesn't ...quite make sense to those observing from the outside but for someone who is just loosely imagining things. Yeah... close enough. Right?

Mid air he tumbles forward, form shifting, shrinking down in size, becoming more bullet like, if the familiar purplish black feathers could be considered bullet like.

The newly formed avian rockets forward, falling down upon the truck cab, and through.

Inside the cab is complete and utter chaos as a raven armed with a rolled up book jumps upon the brake with an unusual amount of of strength. Causing for it to skid to a stop. The free wing reaches up, shifting the vehicle into park.

Now one could argue that the driver could just throw the car back into drive but there is the key factor of wtf? working in the bird's favor. And who is going to argue with a slightly demonic looking raven that knows how to handle parking cars?

During the stunned pause, the raven's other wing gets moving. Slapping them with the rolled up manual.

BAD HOLOGRAPHIC GOONS. BAD!

The doors to the monster truck opens, leaving the two holographic goons to run away from the pretty bird.

Jinx has posed:
Jinx slips out of the monster truck as she watches it suddenly break for no reason. The holographic goons making a run for it. "Really?" She looks annoyed at Phantasm bird for a moment and then over at Donna. Doing it the ol' fashioned way? this feels more like HIVE training than she'd like.

She chases the first guy down with a tackle and an elbow to the back of the head. Rising up, she spies the second and chases after him. A protracted and panting chase across garbage bins and down an alley.

Jinx's hand to hand combat skills are put to the test suddenly when the goon rounds on her. Which is to say, she knows a little more than one would expect from a haunty villainess mage. She ducks under his kick and rises her shoulder up in to his thigh toppling him back. As he scrambles to rise her foot strikes him dead in the face and knocks him back down.

Jinx bends over, hands on knees, and tries to catch her breath. Olympic runner she is not. She is far more used to cheating with magic than doing things hands on.

Donna Troy has posed:
Donna's ambling casually into the projection area to watch the ending. She could have helped Jinx finish off the goons, but Jinx didn't ask, and Donna's got just a touch of a mean streak when it comes to people getting training.

"Simulation off!" Donna calls out, and the trucks and streets fade away, leaving bare walls covered in hexagonal holoprojectors surrounding them. Donna grins at Mike and Jinx with a look of satisfaction.

"That bit where Phantasm told you to slam on the brakes and you just ran with it, Jinx? That is exactly what Kaida and I were talking about. Good work, both of you. Another option you had would be to keep them under observation rather than closing, which would mean they would be less panicked and less likely to hit things, and call to the tower for assistance. We've got teleporters and people who can lift monster trucks into the air, if the right combo was on call that would work well. Always worth a try."

"Next session I'm gonna teach you two a bit about what your T-Coms can do. They're more than just communicators. And I'm going to equip you both with a few trackers and a mini drone each, because sometimes rushing in on your own isn't the best call when you've got a team to back you up."

"You are both fast learners, and so long as you get your heads around the concept of how a good team works together, I'm confident in you both. You're also both smart and have done good things for us already, so I know you're both capable. But you know the best thing here?"

"I know you're both past drinking age, which isn't so common with the new guys. How about we celebrate a successful training session with a few drinks? I've got some really /great/ Themysciran wine upstairs."
