Maximum Carnage - Late Monday Morning
Date of Scene: 24 June 2023
Location: East Harlem
Synopsis: Later Monday Morning. Bad guys are starting to run about. Doppelganger and Shriek are caught by Quiet and Cyber-Spider. But it just seems a rough start as a whole bunch of bad guys are sweeping through the town and ready to make it to a gorefest as the heroes go to split up and chase them down.
Cast of Characters: Mary Jane Watson, Miguel O'Hara, Quiet, Miles Morales
Tinyplot: Maximum Carnage

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
It is roughly ten am on Monday morning. As of seven am, Ryker's Penitentiary had a breakout during a prison transfer of one of the most dangerous inmates, Cletus Kassady, serial killer. And his symbiote, among the most dangerous of the Klyntars, Carnage! A brawl between two Symbiotes and Spawn had broken out just a couple of hours ago. In the distance, sirens were wailing.
Along one of the rooftops is -something- red and seemingly made out of spines and daggers with a warped spider-symbol upon it racing along letting out inhuman screeches!

Miguel O'Hara has posed:
Carnage. He had been scary enough in the holosims, but in the flesh? MAJOR trouble.
Miguel had heard about the prison break from the TV in the break room, and had realized he was going to miss the morning round-up of day-laborers. Which meant this guy was going to tank ANY income from today.
But that didn't dissuade him from heading to the stairs to the roof, and two minutes later, Cyber-Spider was in transit, having Lyla give him the rundown on Carny's weaknesses as he swung on weblines towards Havoc in Harlem.
Carnage was a serial killer. That meant Miguel didn't have to hold back....

Quiet has posed:
Stefanie had friends around the city, both current co-workers at the Triskelion and some old comrades at arms from her long years of being a globe-trotting... specialist.

Today she was in Harlem having dropped a package off for one of her former teammates who had a residence here in the city. She's leaving their home as of now, wearing casual sumemr attire of a dark green and black loose-fit tanktop, some short drab green shorts and a pair of black fishnet stockings going down her legs in to a scuffed pair of tightly laced combat boots. On her back is a small black backpack that she hooks her thumbs under the straps of upon her shoulders.

Stef's ponytail sways behind her head as her eyes dance around the city around her, ever the lover of the bustling city of New York, and its unending style, charm, and mystery.

Such mystery here and now are the sirens up ahead, and as she gets ever nearer to the noise, her eyes continue to dart toward them to see if she can ascertain what might be happening up ahead.

She's just a casual pedestrian young woman waltzing through Harlem early on a Monday, nothing special here.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Miguel is able to catch up first, even as the -thing- goes to leap down the side of the building. He's able to get a good look of it - it's definitely not Carnage, but it's a close second over in the freak department. It looks like someone took a killer wasp, mixed it with a demon, and threw it into a blender. It had six arms, multi-faceted eyes, and a huge maw of sharkteeth. It would let out a wild shriek as it would land over some ways away from Stefanie!

Doppelganger would let out a howl, unaware of the approach of Cyber-Spider while going to look into the mass of pedestrians that were rapidly scattering as then it would go to start to run into them like a feral dog chasing a postman!

Miguel O'Hara has posed:
He didn't know Doppel's NAME, but he could sense his GAME.
And the game was "Feeding Frenzy."
Yeah, NOT THIS TIME.

It makes about 30 feet, when the feet are suddenly mired in webbing. Not the synthetic stuff Spider-Man throws down and around with, but the genuine article, which is designed to hold MUCH more and for MUCH longer. This is the 24-hour Call-It-A-Day stuff.
As Doppelganger stops, Cyber-Spider reinforces the webbing to make sure the big galoot is going NOWHERE.

Quiet has posed:
Stef's eyes go up to the weird motion out of the peripheral of her vision. She sees the creature land ahead of the foot traffic on the sidewalk further up. At first she just stares at the 'thing' with a curious expression, but then one of the Supers is arriving on-scene.

Clearly this is what the sirens are likely related to up ahead.

While others on the sidewalk starts to scatter, or outright run for their lives, Stefanie juste stops and watches from a not very far distance now, seemingly completely unaffraid of what is happening.

After a second or two, she even takes a slow step forward, toward the action, as though she's weighing her options on should she assist the Spider or just let these two pummel one another...

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
The webbing goes to slap up and around the six armed freak. He would give a screech, struggling over against it even as more and more of it would wrap around him! He struggled, to no seeming avail as the enhanced spider-webbing went to wrap around him.

Then he would rip out with all six arms, blades on the end to slash right through it! Some bits of webbing stuck over ot him, hanging down like small ribbons. Then six arms were up and pointed over at Cyber-Spider..

And Miguel's enhanced vision would give him plenty of heads up as six blasts of webbing would be fired back at him! Webbing made of strands of blades hurled up through the air at him.. Doppel's attention is still fully on Cyber-Spider. The crowd around is entirely ignored. People would scatter and fall back. Not a stampede - but hundreds of people intent on getting the hell away.

Miguel O'Hara has posed:
HOOOOOLY CHIP!
Miguel's own Spider-Sense allows him to react quickly, allowing him to dodge the webbing to take temporary cover behind a car.
"The archives didn't say ANYTHING about BLADES!"
After a moment, Lyla answered, "Variables and constants?"
"Getting kinda TIRED of hearing that!"
Okay. Fresh tactics. Try to get in close and hope the thing doesn't have a resistance to paralytics...!

Quiet has posed:
Fleeing citizens rush past Stefani on either sides of her, some even brushing across her bare arms as she simply stands there and watches from a handful of meters away. The brunette locks of hair framing her face flutter in the wind of the people running by her, but her eyes just stay locked on the Super and the Villain. It's like a front row seat to an action movie for her, and for a moment she even shows a little smile.

That moment passes quickly though, and Stef's right hand rises up, her toned bare arm now extending outward, and a SHIELD ICER handgun gripped tightly in her right hand, as she squeezes the grip tightly, her finger stroking down the trigger guard until she slips it on to the trigger proper.

The 'creature' wasn't paying any heed to the young woman, and she waits for just the right moment... before she squeezes the trigger repeatedly, sending three blasts of ICER stunning energy toward the six-armed-thing battling with the Fancy-Spider!

Thwump! Thwump! Thwump! The ICER roars as its fired, all while the rather unassuming young looking woman starts walking toward the fight, gun still readied and her eyes aimed down its sights.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
The six ICER rounds go to strike Doppelganger in the middle of the head. He goes to stumble around thrashingly, even as he moves to stumble while trying to slash at nothingness. He might have been able to resist one or two ICER rounds, but all of them at once would drop him like a log. Then there's Cyber-Spider leaping through the air, deftly evading blades of webbing that had been streaked over the alleyway, going to slam his way into the flank of Doppelganger, even as the feral beast was stumbling about and going to bite down /hard/ with venom laced fangs. Doppelganger goes to shriek and wail over as venom on top of the powerful paralytics of the ICER would hit him. And he goes to crumble down to the ground.

IT can't have been that easy, right? Not for Carnage.

Miguel O'Hara has posed:
Ptew! Ptew! Ptew!

Cyber-Spider spit on the ground. People simply didn't taste very well.
Cy-Spi looked at Doppelganger and said quietly, "Note. This scary chiphead has blades."
"So noted," Lyla replied.

Cy-Spi glanced in the direction where the debilitating shots came from, then gave Doppelganger a two-hour shot with high tensile strength.

Just to be safe.

Quiet has posed:
On the pavement of the sidewalk, Stef's combat boots rapidly impact against the old concrete as she scurrie-steps up to the creature that now lays on the ground. She holds her gun aimed down now at her side as she just croutches down beside it. Her eyes scan it over after the Spider did what he did, then she looks over and up at him.

And she just smiles at him, offering him a warm expression at their shared ability to take down this villain just like in all the news headlines.

For a moment, her eyes once more drop down to the Dopple before she straightens her legs and rises up to her full height. Her free hand goes over to the Spider to offer him a no-look high-five should he take it from the young woman with the SHIELD weapon.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Doppelganger is down and out. Restrained and fully webbed up and drugged. It's not going to be going anywhere anytime soon. but that doesn't mean that the fun is over yet.

There's a high pitched noise rocketing through the air. Hitting decibels only slightly different in pitch than Black Canary and Songbird. But far, far less well sung.

Flying through the air on screams is a pale woman with streaked black hair, two large dark slashes over her eyes, and wearing a domino styled bodysuit.

"What are you doing with my pet?" She would hover two stories up in the air, even as Stefanie has finished her high five over to Cyber-Spider.

Miguel O'Hara has posed:
"That's a high-five she's giving..." the velvet voice whispered.
"I KNOW, Lyla."
He does return the high-five, solid but not powerful. No sense converting the high-five into a LOW five, or even a Pavement Five.
"You're a pretty good shot, miss...I'm..."

Then he looked up at the scream-flyer, eye-lenses widening. "NOW what?" he mutters.

He looked up at the woman, then says, "He isn't trained well. Think you should get a better trainer. Also, I don't think he's housebroken!"

Quiet has posed:
Stefanie is looking back over to the Super moments after he gives her the high-five in response. She's still smiling, her chin down a little as her dark lashes flutter in the wind and sunlight that is covering her facial features. She's squinting a bit because of it, but when the Spider is cut off, Stef too has to look up to the voice.

Another one!

This one seems more cocky than the one they just put down too...

Stefanie takes a breath in through her pert nose, her dark eyebrows furrowing as a black stream suddenly spreads across her eyes, covering the upper portion of her face like a mask of her own...

Without questioning the situation, once more Stef's ICER is shot up on an extended right arm, and she fires off two quick shots!

Thwump! Thwump! goes the ICER, not at all nicer.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
The woman goes to fly up in the air and chuckles at Cyber-Spider, "Oh, I don't know. I think it's a.." She goes to almost instantly pop out with a wailing SHRIEK that would hit the darts in midair and disintegrate them, but in a way that suggested she hadn't noticed Quiet! It would blast a hole over in the side of the (thankfully empty) building next to the alleyway, blitzing through the foundation and out the other end as Shriek would propel herself through the air! She would fling her way along, as if she were playing a horrnedous hopscotch harmony!

Miguel O'Hara has posed:
Cyber-Spider ducks instinctively as the scream decimates some empty real estate. "Okay, Miss Silent Majority, see if you can distract her if I can get a line on her!"

He fires a webline to a nearby building, moving to see if he can pace her...

Quiet has posed:
It's not but a second after the Spider offers her that mission that Stefanie just vanishes in a puff of black smoke. Where once had been young woman, now a puff of fast-moving smoke flies through the air up toward the street lamp post. There's a flickering of the light as it comes on a second later, then suddenly bursts in to a shower of sparks, as the woman once more reforms perched atop it, her ICER handgun wielded up again as she crouches atop the small metal arm that holds the lamp's shroud beneath her. Crouched there like some kind of a lovely bird, Quiet once more opens fire upon the cackling villainous, this time letting loose another barrage of gunfire like she had on the Doppleganger earlier when he'd taken his eyes off of her.

Now though, her hope was to just occupy the woman's attention, if she wasn't able to actually take her down.

'Come at me, bro' Quiet stares daggers at the woman whilst unleashing her shots upon her.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
The woman goes to let out a series of yells over as she launches along through the air! Two darts shoot past her, getting her attention. "What are you, little prat?" She would go to take a deep breath, ready to unleash another blast of heavy sonic energy over at Quiet.

"I must say.. This will be a HOOT!" She's hovering, spinning about to come to a stop over in midair, presuming that Quiet will have to evade which gives her a much more stable platform to blast..

Totally unaware of Cyber-Spider going to launch up at her!

Miguel O'Hara has posed:
He doesn't jump at Shriek, but he does get pretty high, checks for clearance...then fires a webline, the spread of webbing at the end, hitting Shriek amidships.

The next part is the reason why Miguel may have been a top-flight geneticist, but he still aced his geometry courses.

Cyber-Spider YANKS Shriek off course, digs in...

...and then swings Shriek around in a wide, fast arc, and then Cyber-Spider is whirling Shriek around in a wide circle.

Yes, folks, Cy-Spi has turned Shriek into a human "bullroarer." Or "bullshrieker."

Quiet has posed:
Stefani remains perched on that street light's apex like a well balanced acrobatic performer. Her angry stare remains down her ICER handgun, a look of fierce determination strewn across her face after she took those last few shots. But the counter attack from the Shriek was incoming, and once more Stefani just vanished in a puff of dark smoke!

The plumes of smoke waft through the air rapidly moving toward one of the nearby building facades where it once more reforms in to the body of the young pedestrian turned ally to the Fancy Spider here this morning!

Her ICER's ammo well is ejected and another fresh battery pack is slapped in to the weapon from a pouch on the back of her waistline.

She doesn't attack, instead just watches the Fancy Spider swing the villainous woman about like a rotarr blade on a chopper!

Miles Morales has posed:
TWHIP!

"HELLO HARLEM!"

Comes the sounds of a confident-sounding Web-Slinger wearing black with red spider-decal. "Woah dude! You're get-up is /tight/." Says Spider-Man as he webs closer to how Miguel is turning Shriek into a merry-go-round. He swings into the air, shifting his hands to make the 'love' hand gesture as his middle and ring fingers press into his palms, causing webs to be shot towards Shriek while they're being swung in that wide circle in an attempt to web 'em up!

For capture purposes of course, and when they inevitably hit something, they STICK there!

"Oh man, you already caught Doppelganger! I KNEW it was doppelganger!" He notices Stefanie moving like a well-trained warrior, like an apex predator firing off ICER shots. "Hey! Good job with that thing! It's /really/ effective at taking out bad guys. So are bagels."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
There's a SMASH over in the air as Shriek is clotheslined over by Cyber-Spider! There's the brutal sound of Shriek being swung around over in a crazed circle! She's swung around faster and faster like a yoyo! Her screaming is cut off after several moments of horrific sound blasting off in every direction! She goes mercifully silent - she's used up all of her air and has gone unconscious.

Doppelganger is out on the ground, covered over in several layers of webbing and with a half dozen ICER darts in him. Shriek is definitely going to have one hell of a friction burn from being pinwheeled about so fast!

High overhead, blasting along through the air at high speed is what -looks- for just a moment like Hobgoblin.. If Hobgoblin was made out of fire. Floating in another direction many, many blocks away is something that looks like a rotting body, being pecked apart by Carrion. On a rooftop far off, a woman looking like the Punch to someone else's Judy is running along the rooftops like parkouring.

And zooming along with her is someone else in a black and yellow boydsuit, a glowing visor over her face letting out hoots and hollers.

It seems to be the start of a -really- bad day.

Miguel O'Hara has posed:
Cyber-Spider slows her down enough to send her over to a wall, firing webbing at it before she lands. It works to cushion the impact AND hold her in place until she is collected by the NYPD.
Cy-Spi relaxes, then waves to Miles. "Nice work. I think she should be relateively compliant when...when..."

His voice trails off as he sees the villainous quartet higher overhead than he is.

"...AW COME ON!!"

Quiet has posed:
Stefani kept her ICER handgun readied and preapred to fire, should the Fancy Spider require the further aid... but he seemed to have this one all under wraps. It isn't until Miles arrives that Quiet lowers her sidearm and her black-hued eyes turn to look at him... The black mask strewn across her youthful visage fades away back in to regular soft skin tone hues, as she shows a faint smile upon her pink lips.

Her eyes look back to the Fancy Spider though, and once more Quiet puffs in to a streak of dark smoke that quickly swirls through the air down toward the pavement below. When she reforms in to the body of the young woman, her side arm is aimed down toward the sidewalk beneath her feet, and her right hand is holding a radio up to her lips. The radio is lit up with a screen that watches her lips, and reads what she's mouthing, translating it in to words instantly that it relays to her SHIELD dispatchers, as she's calling for a team to come check this area of the city out.

Miles Morales has posed:
"Aaaaand that one's gone!"

A masked Miles Morales looks at Cyber-Spider and he whistles at him. "I don't know about compliant, but maybe if we buy her some tacos it'll help take the edge off. You know, there's always-"

More. There's always more of them.

"...How BAD WAS THAT BREAKOUT?!"

He looks at Cyber-Spider "Demogoblin, Carrion, Punchline, Bomb Queen?! What is this, VillainCon?" He turns his eyes towards Stefani. "Wooaaahhh you can TELEPORT?!" Spider-Man gives her a thumbs up. "That's so /cool/."

"This is gonna be the longest day ever." He facemasks, shaking his head.

Miguel O'Hara has posed:
Cyber-Spider looks to Quiet and Spider-Man. "Guess we're working through lunch! If they split up, call who you're tailing!"

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
There is /always/ going to be a breakout. This one is just worse than most. Even if one went by Gotham with the baseline. There's Quiet, going to radio it in to SHIELD. There's Cyber-Spider, the webslinger of the far off world of 2099. There's Spider-Man, rushing along. It's got all that's going to be a real bad, real bloody day.

The group of villains, escaped or just coming out for some fun, are scattering. It is going to be very Not Fun. And in the distance, there's the shrieking, hooting laughter of the main murder and mayhem freak-pair themselves..

And they're going to be scattering throughout the city. Tracking them down is goign to be chaotic. IT will involve.. A lot of web-work.

Quiet has posed:
The comment that Miles says to Quiet garners a happy smile from her as she regards him, stepping out of the shadow of one of the buildings behind her and back in to the sunlight. Her brown eyes dance around the area, back down toward the NYPD emergency services vehicles further down the road, some of them undoubtedly already headed this way.

Producing a SHIELD badge from her backpack, Quiet starts to afix it to the right strap of said pack over her shoulder. With it clipped on, she gives it a little shining scrub with one of her fingers before she slips her ICER back in to the holster mounted on the belt cinched around her drab green short shorts. She sorts out her dark tanktop then and folds her arms over her stomach.

Her eyes drop to the captured villainous types, and she huffs out an indignant exhale!

What a bother!

Miles Morales has posed:
"Looks like it!"

Spider-Man tells Miguel and he starts to get moving! "Better get on it!" They best not get to Brooklyn, but they can't be allowed to wreac havoc in Harlem. It's gonna take AWHILE to get to them all. "Come on guys, won't catch themselves! Then we'll have Carne Asada on me!"

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
And now the web warriors are going to have to sling off and into action. And anyone else that's in the area and willing to lend a hand. To help avoid..

MAXIMUM CARNAGE.
