Do they still have Big Belly Burgers in the Future
Date of Scene: 26 June 2023
Location: Big Belly Burgers
Synopsis: No Big belly burger in LSH time, but some questions in the present.
Cast of Characters: Bart Allen, Franklin Richards, Sharon Smith, Jenni Ognats, Gabby Kinney

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen has offered to take Jenni out to grab some food and see the city. He knows she knows cities, but well New York area will change a lot in the next thousand years, and last time she was here they were in a small town in Alabama. "So, I figure we can grab something to eat and look through a couple of the tourist magazines and see if there is anything you think might be interesting. " He walks along and as they come up towards the franchise he will say "You know I don't know is there any real Big Belly Burgers back home, I mean my own area knowledge is a bit limited to what was programed mostly."

Franklin Richards has posed:
Franklin strolls through the streets of Queens, his gaze wandering aimlessly. He appears slightly lost, his uncertainty evident. With a shrug, he finally breaks the silence, voicing his thoughts aloud. "I'm not exactly sure where we are... I'm guessing Queens, but New York City is so vast." The identity of the person he's speaking to remains a mystery until a Lepus brachyurus, walking on two feet, emerges from around the corner. The small rabbit stands at about a foot and a half tall, arms crossed, and wears a disappointed expression. It responds to Franklin in Japanese, questioning the situation. "I joined you because you said there were great deeds to be done. What is this mess I've stepped into?" The hare lifts a leg, inspecting the gum stuck to its paw.

Franklin grins, displaying an air of patience. He proceeds towards the Big Belly food joint, with the hare trailing behind him. Franklin no longer feels the need to conceal their presence, as he has grown accustomed to being blamed regardless of his actions. He allows the hare to behave as it pleases for now. In this case, it means standing beside him as they join the line to place their food orders. Franklin turns to the hare, a playful tone in his voice. "Should I get something with carrots for you?" The hare simply retorts in Japanese, telling him to shut up once again.

Sharon Smith has posed:
A small black cat licked its lips. Sharon was stalking and staring at Fanklin's big, white bun. The thing was probably a little large for her small stature to easily pounce, but it made her a little less conspicious, or at least slightly more difficult to spot. The black feline would certainly stand out in a burger joint, but no worse than a talking Japanese rabbit.

Jenni Ognats has posed:
Jenni shakes her head, "Yeah, none of the eateries I've seen around here are anything like what we have." She looks at the place they're walking into, "...is this one of those...what was the idiom...grease spoon places?" She tilts her head, curious, "...and why do they call it that, anyway. Wouldn't a spoon made of grease just melt in your hand and be kind of useless?"

As she moves with Bart through the resturaunt, she glances over at the entering young man and the bipedal rabbit walking by his side. Unlike many others, she doesn't even give the creature a second glance, as if seeing something of that nature was perfectly normal, and instead just smiles and waves at the two.

She then turns back to Bart, "Frankly, I'm still getting used to purely Terran cuisine in this era. By our time, Earth had been the center of the UP for so long that finding a place that JUST served terran food was kind of wierd."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Cats and rabbits and speedsters and Franklin, oh my. It wasn't as if Gabby was actively looking to meet up with anyone. It was just ... Big Belly Burgers. It called to her. The smell of burgers was mixed up with all the rest of that, though, as she coasts to the curb on her Honda Trail to park. A quick kick of the stand comes, and she hits the kill switch to cut the engine.

The Rebel Fighter helmet she wears is pulled off to shake out her hair with a sigh as she regards the backs of some familiar speedsters. "Hey Bart, hey Jenni," she calls out to the pair only to pause, sniffing the air again uncertainly. "Huh."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over and says "Na, greasy spoons are more dinners, we can hit one of those later, and it is more cause the food is usually greasy I think." He tells her. He is about to order when he hears a hi, and turns to wave at Gabby. He does do a double take at the rabbit not shocked but something you don't see everyday. He will turn and puts in a rather large order enough probably for a dozen people, but has half of it in to go bags, and the rest on trays. He does order three drinks and calls out to Gabby "Got ya covered." He says holding up one of the cups.

Franklin Richards has posed:
Franklin gives Jenni a polite wave, though he doesn't recognize her. Before he can approach her, he hears a familiar voice and grins. For now, he ignores the rabbit by his side as he waits in line, observing the few people around him and contemplating what to say. It seems that they are acquainted with Gabby, and perhaps they are fellow X-Men who no longer frequent the school. As his turn in line approaches, Franklin lets out a small sigh and shuffles forward, patiently waiting for his chance to order.

Meanwhile, the hare at Franklin's side instinctively senses a potential threat. While humans might consider a cat harmless, to the hare, it signifies danger. Reacting swiftly, the hare stands on its hind legs, trying to appear larger and more intimidating against the approaching feline. It taps Franklin's leg, seeking his attention, but Franklin waves it off dismissively, saying, "Don't worry... I was just joking about getting you something. Just be patient." However, the hare persists and taps him again, prompting Franklin to look in the direction of the disturbance with a sigh, anticipating yet another complaint.

Jenni Ognats has posed:
"Ah, so it's typical Lallor food. Got it." She gives Gabby a wave and nod as she follows Bart over. As she's sitting down, she looks at the amount of food, then up at the menu and frowns. After a few moments, she looks over at her cousin, "Hey Bart...you guys don't have a world government yet, do you?"

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith crept up slowly before lunging forward to rudely nip Fanklin's bun... er... bunny. It wasn't much of a bite. It was just a small pinch of teeth to see if she could get a rise or a chase out of the thing. It was an interesting looking creature, so she thought she'd test it out. She could have simply changed forms and talked to it, but Catseye had an unusual scientific method for investigating rabbit shaped creatures.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney fistpumps when Bart calls back to her showing off the third cup. That was always good news, after all! "Yes! You're the best, Bart!" Helmet tucked beneath her arm she turns to veer in their direction. A grin is flashed at Franklin, too--She was aware he was there. It's the fellow he's with that she finds curious with a raise of eyebrow.

The other quickly joins it when Catseye lunges to nip toward the rabbit fellow. Without thinking her hand shoots out to try and snag at the scruff of the cat with a cry of, "Yoink!" Of course, that all depends if she's fast enough to get the cat.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over and shakes his head to Jenni "Na, there are probably as many governments on earth as planets in the United planets of your time. Easiest way to think about it is think of each nation believes itself to be a different planet, and it makes a bit more sense at least. He notices the cat and the rabbit, and he is ready to move to help, but Gabby seems to be taking care of it, and if he does he would sorta show his powers.

Jenni Ognats has posed:
Jenni nods to Bart, "...and you DON'T work for the...errrrr...local government?" She scratches her head, "...then who pays you?" She looks over at the rabbit being accosted, quickly glances over at Bart, notes he's holding off for the moment and follows his lead in that regard. After a moment, she narrows her eyes at Bart, "You're not mooching off your reputation are you?"

Franklin Richards has posed:
As she nibbles at the hare, the cat realizes that it's like chewing on rubber and doesn't break the skin. The bunny lets out a "Yeow!" and tries to swat at the cat, but its paws are soft and fluffy, making it feel more like being struck with pillows. The hare exclaims, "Infernal Beast!" as Gabby comes to the rescue, saving him from further annoyance. Franklin simply smiles and addresses the hare, saying, "If you want to play, you should go over there so you won't bother everyone." He receives a fistshake from the hare in response. Franklin chuckles and looks at Gabby, remarking, "Looks like you've got yourself a trouble-making new friend." He extends his hand slowly, allowing the cat to sniff it, but refrains from petting it. Instead, he locks eyes with the cat and communicates telepathically, <<Hello, little one. Don't worry, no one will hurt you here.>> He then turns his attention to the cashier as it finally becomes his turn to order.

Franklin places his order, and the cashier nods, glancing at him and then at the bunny. The order is placed, and the cashier compliments Franklin on his trick of making it appear as though the rabbit was speaking. With a chuckle, Franklin responds, "Smoke and mirrors," and moves away to wait, heading back towards Gabby.

"We meet again... You know, I think we're always eating something whenever we run into each other," Franklin chuckles, reflecting on their encounters. He continues, "But thank you. He may deserve to be a hare, but no one deserves cat drool." Franklin doesn't seem overly concerned about what might have happened to his friend in that situation. The hare, following closely behind Franklin, speaks up again, but since it only knows Japanese, it says, "Thank you... I was afraid I would have been dragged off soon." It then positions itself back behind Franklin.

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith looked rather pitiful when picked up. She wasn't difficult to catch, mainly because she was preoccupied nipping rabbits on the butt. She did give that mean, predatory look, her claws out, ready to swipe, but soon thought different as she simply slumped in her grasp, sagging lazily with what little dead weight she could give with such a small frame. She gave a low 'mrowl' in vengeful reply.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney glances to the yowling cat with a small 'hmph' at the yowling. "No, bad kitty, no bunnies," she states only to sigh. "I'll get you a burger." Maybe the cat wouldn't understand her, but hey, the rabbit was talking. Glancing over toward him she responds in Japanese, "<You're welcome.>" She wasn't fluent but she certainly knew the niceities.

She heads over to Bart and Jenni to plop the cat down in a seat near them. "Give it my burger, I'll grab another." With that she looks over her shoulder back at Franklin with a grin. "Everyone's got to eat. It's a universal unifier."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over and says "I got plenty should still be enough." He tells Gabby, and then to Jenni he says "Well, I work for the zoo, I am learning to take care of animals, so I have an actual job, plus I do some recycling." He explains part of his money. It seems he does get money from the Titans if needed and Robin has given him a card he can use when he needs to but he tries not to use those." He then looks to Gabby, "Your friend and his rabbit want to join us?"

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"That's because you *were* stalking someone when you met me," Gabby points out, though she does at least reach out to ruffle Franklin's hair as if he were the younger one, not her. "Either way you're okay, I guess. If not I can rat to your sister about you." Grinning to Bart and Jenni. She's about to say more when her phone rings causing her to sigh.

"I need to take that. Might be awhile," she utters while fishing it out to see who is calling. "Fuck. Okay, just..." Her hand waves a bit absently at the bag of burgers. Only to pause, snag one, and head out. "Thanks. This may take awhile."

Jenni Ognats has posed:
Jenni blinks at Bart, "Wait...so if you don't work for the government..." She blinks, notes a lot of other people are coming to sit she's unsure of, then finishes her sentence in Interlac <...if you don't work for the government, do they have some other system to license you to enforce the law?> The last time she was in this time period, she was a bit too preoccupied with goings-on to figure out all the niceties and ramifications of being a superhero in this era.

Of course, it works a lot different when you're part of a government-sponsored team and actually have some official legal authority rather than this kind of chaotic arrangement that seems to be the norm in THIS century.

She waves bye to Gabby as the other young woman bounces to take a call, and shakes her head, "...I still don't get why you made your communicators into rectangles." She then looks over at the newcomer, "Hello there, Mister Richards. Feel free to join us."

Sharon Smith has posed:
Sharon Smith would have sighed if she could. The feline mutant decided to protest in a different way, slowly becoming larger and heavier until her weight was nearly unbearable. She ended up eventually in the shape of a large panther, at least for a moment. Her frame then shifted back to something with two legs. She still had black fur and sharp teeth, but it was a little more sensible and far less intimidating than that of a several hundred pound panther.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen 's brow raises at the shape shifting but says "Well thats something new." He will still offer her one of Gabby's burgers. He does shake Franklin's hand with the other, giving a firm but not crushing hand shake. He looks over to Jenni and makes a soso motion and says "There are a few groups who work for the government but there is also some laws for people trying to help people. " He looks tot he panther lady, the bunny and the other gentleman "My cousin is from a bit aways and is learning about how things are here." He is telling the truth maybe not the full truth but the truth "Like if I am right our new friend's family is a group of heroes, and they don't work officially for the government, but they can help things. Other groups that work at least somewhat with the government or the UN The Avengers and the Titans are two of them." He explains this and figures the whole from a ways away will explain the odd language.

Franklin Richards has posed:
Franklin turns to Gabby, clarifying, "Technically, I was helping, not stalking." He then addresses Jenni, who is closer, and adds, "Domino is a difficult person to find, and she's quite paranoid. Although, I'm not sure if it's paranoia if there are actually people out to get you." He chuckles lightly before swiftly making a correction, "And please, call me Franklin. Mr. Richards is my father. Thank you for the invitation as well."

As he sets down the booster chair for the rabbit, Franklin slides the salad towards it, allowing the rabbit to consume its meal. He gives Gabby a friendly wave before turning his attention to the new group of people. With a curious expression, Franklin asks, "You mentioned the government. I hope you're not villainous individuals, are you?" His tone briefly takes a serious note, but his smile remains intact. He finds Gabby's friends intriguing, but he's uncertain about the situation he has stumbled upon.

Suddenly, the panther appears, surprising Franklin. In response, the rabbit jumps up and climbs Franklin to escape from the large feline. Franklin remarks with amusement, "Well, that's not something you see every day. How many burgers did you order?" He grins and reaches up to grab the rabbit by the ears, gently lifting it and placing it back down. Ending the convesation to the Rabbit with a, "Look, she has already changed again. Calm down."

Uncertain about what to do next, Franklin stands up and exclaims, "Tada!" He makes a throwing motion with his hands, and confetti magically appears, although only those sitting nearby can see a small blue light emanating from his empty hand. "Thank you, thank you. Please don't be alarmed; it's a simple trick," he says, waving his hand to dismiss any concerns. Addressing the shifting panther, he mentally communicates, <<Quickly, come sit with us. Humans are dangerous and confused.>> He tries to convey a complex message in a simple manner and attempts to maintain a smile and laugh to downplay the situation.

Jenni Ognats has posed:
Jenni looks confused at Franklin's question, as the logic just doesn't compute for her, "How would I be a villainous individual if I worked for the government?" She frowns, thinking about it, "...I mean, yeah, I've met some people who work for the government that are officious pricks, but that just means you have straightforward and defined procedures for dealing for them if they do anything they're not supposed to."

Yes, she comes from a VERY different world where most of their problems are EXTERNAL, rather than INTERNAL.

And actually, Franklin (and other observers) might be forgiven for being confused at how many burgers Jenni has...as the pile she's sitting next to is noticably smaller than it was a few moments ago...but almost certainly only Bart will have been able to percieve her chowing down on them at superspeed anytime others are momentarily distracted.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen has a bit of a different tactic for his, he ends up swapping out the wrappers of the burgers he ate with the ones in the bag to make it look like he is keeping about the same amount of burgers. I think he was more joking about you being a bad guy, since he is a bit of a public figure and all." He offers in explanation "I will say you do have some interesting friends Franklin."

Franklin Richards has posed:
Franklin tilts his head as he looks at Jenni, not yet noticing the disappearing burgers. He chuckles and returns to his seat, saying, "Oh, I'm sorry, I misunderstood. You're working with them, not against them." He notes the complexity of government affairs, saying, "All these government things are so complicated. Keeping track of who is working for whom can be quite challenging." To Franklin, governments were entities attempting to establish order amid chaos, but they often succumbed to corruption over time. It was a difficult task even for the most intelligent individuals.

He then turns his attention back to Bart, now that the cat situation seems to have settled. Franklin has laid the groundwork, waiting for the human minds to accept the situation as an explanation. He hopes that no one in the vicinity gets the idea that it's related to mutants or anything like that. Franklin thinks about his friends, like Hex and Selene, and nods to Bart, saying, "Indeed, I do. But what's a couple of new ones?" He grins and continues, "I tend to deal with bigger threats, so I was just curious and wanted to give a friendly warning to not mess with me. Although it seems the warning wasn't necessary. Again, I apologize for the misunderstanding. Whether good or bad, the big things stay the same. But the lines can become quite blurry, and I've already been advised not to interfere too much." Franklin grins again, rubbing the back of his head as he recalls the conversations he's had with his parents.

Meanwhile, the rabbit continues to devour the lettuce, showing no concern for the conversation. Franklin warns the rabbit to slow down to avoid choking, as it is eating too quickly and consuming too much.

Jenni Ognats has posed:
Jenni looks back and forth between Bart and Franklin, confused enough from the byplay to actually start eating at visible speeds. After a few more moments, she tilts her head, "...mutant whats?"

Yeah, she's from a WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY long way away. And given 'mutants' are a thing pretty much worldwide...that's a wierd long way away.

That or she's been living in a cave. For like, a few decades.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over to her, and says "You know people born with powers that usually express at puberty." He then says something in that odd language <Mutants are pretty much common knowledge her but playing it off as you did not know the word>

Franklin Richards has posed:
Franklin looks at Jenni again, this time taking a closer look and piecing together their previous conversations and her reactions. He quietly contemplates the information in front of him, looking into her eyes without any telepathic abilities. He then shifts his gaze to Bart and asks in a quiet tone, "Is she not from Earth?" A few things didn't add up, and having been around people in space frequently, Franklin had come to realize how many human-looking aliens existed. He quickly adds, "It was the bunny... Everyone seemed shocked, even your friends showed some apprehension. Also neither of you have taken a bite of the meal, and I tend to be very observant. So either you're incredibly fast or using some other trick." He chuckles a bit, trying to lighten the mood.

Franklin looks up and shudders, realizing something. "Besides, this lady has been emitting small pulses of power... so much," he points a thumb at Jenni as he addresses Bart. However, he stops himself mid-sentence and asks, "Should I not have said something?" Worried that he may have overstepped his bounds, he explains, "We're new friends, and I only meant to be open here." He hopes he hasn't offended either of them and seeks reassurance.

Jenni Ognats has posed:
Jenni opens her mouth to respond, then shuts it and hrms. After a moment's thought, she finally just shrugs and looks Franklin in the eyes, "To answer your question, Yes. But No." There let's see if we can confuse the issue a bit. If he does bother to brush across her mind, he'll probably note she's got the kind of ultra basic defenses a normal might develop if they have a psychic friend to help them out.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over, and says "Yes she is from earth, but she has had a rather.... different background than most. I had something similar, but there is no threat with us." He hmmms a bit and says "Lets leave it at we are more than it appears, but though know your history do not know you well enough to go into details."

Franklin Richards has posed:
Franklin nods and finishes his meal, looking at the two of them. He realizes that prying into their personal matters wouldn't be appropriate, so he decides to respect their privacy. "Very well... I apologize for prying. Your business must be kept quiet for a reason," he says, nodding understandingly. He chuckles a bit and adds, "Besides, if you can get Gabby to like you, you must not be that bad." He laughs it off, making light of the situation. He decides not to dig any further, satisfied with the small answer he received.

Franklin smiles at them and reaches into his pocket, pulling out a small card that he slides over to them. "But I should be on my way. I can't stay in one place for too long, or they'll try to come after me," he says, shrugging slightly without going into detail about who "they" are. "If you ever need my help, just call the number on the card. I try to help out friends however I can, even if they think it makes me a stalker," he adds with a smile. He pauses for a moment before continuing, "Oh, almost forgot... Franklin Richards, reality bender." He admits this without any shame or desire to hide it. He was an open book and freely shared information about himself. "If you need me, don't hesitate to reach out." With that, he takes a step back, giving them a moment to see the card, before he begins to make his departure.
