Synopsis: Miguel, River, MJ, and Julia meet a stainless steel tiger. Hey, it's New York.
Cast of Characters: Miguel O'Hara, Mary Jane Watson, River Banks, Julia Carpenter, Spencer Smythe

Miguel O'Hara has posed:
I'm back...back in the New York groove...

Cyber-Spider, AKA Miguel O'Hara, had always wondered about that song after hearing it from a radio in the subway. What IS the "New York Groove?"

Well, after being lost in time for a few weeks (The Return of the Wanna-Be Time Lord) he realized that there was something to the energy of New York. A vibe, definitely...a feel, a rhythm...
...a groove.
Cy-Spider continued to travel above the Financial District, enjoying the webslinging but keeping an eye out for trouble.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson is going for a late walk through the Financial District. Seh has on a large hoodie and set of jeans and is jogging her way in and out of passerby along the sidewalk. It's gonig to be flooded with people soon so she's trying to get to where she's going before there's a backup and she gets stuck on the subway.

The slinging past of a spider gets her attention. She ca ntell it's Cyber-Spider at this range but he's well beyond distance for her to yell or wave at him and she doesn't need to chat with him for any reason. So unless the small wave is noticed, then she'll just keep on going.

River Banks has posed:
She was beginning to like Gotham more than New York... but that might just be because of the people in it.

River Banks skid on the sidewalk a bit as she took a corner fast, wearing athletic pants and a thick hoodie against the late evening cold, breath rising up in the air and some beats in her ears as she runs. She leaps up and skids along the back of a bench, she steps lightly on a post box and quickly goes down when her foot gets caught in the flap.

It's a horrible mess, and she manages to twist *just* so, so that she doesn't end up breaking an ankle in the process.

"For Freakin' *REAL?!*" she bellows out, half stuck upside-down, one hand on the mailbox as she hangs awkwardly.

One of her old-fashioned wired earbuds hangs out of her hoodie.

Julia Carpenter has posed:
Julia is likewise slinging her way through the city, though in her case, she's heading in from a patrol and towards home. Arachne might be a low-key new Spider in town, but Julia has a daughter to get dinner for! She's planning on picking up pizza on the way home since she's running late.

Already planning out her evening, she may not be paying the closest attention as she rides along on lightly glowing psi-webs, the main oddity that has her standing out from the rest of the Spider crew.

Still, she can hear the exclamation of frustration from down below and drops in lower to see a young woman caught in a mailbox. Stifling the smile that threatens, she lands lightly atop the mailbox in a typical crouch and offers, "Need a hand?"

Spencer Smythe has posed:
It has been too long since Dr. Spencer Smythe has released his Slayers onto the streets of NYC. Smythe had been quite busy not only dealing with Alister's hospital bills and with all the publicity the Dragon Buddy toys have been giving him as of late. However, a recent lull of activity with his employers has finally allowed Smythe to slip back into his lab and begin work on his latest Slayer, one that would finally slay that menace Spider-Man once and for all!

Spencer growled in frustration as he glared at the screen. On display were a series of live videos recording different streets in all five bouroughs, courtesy of his Drones. It was getting late and he was begginning to doubt that the Spider would turn up. Suddenly one of the screens began to light up and let out a shrill alarm. Smythe cackled in delight and rushed toward the screen, only to growl in anger. On the screen was a Spider, but not the one he was looking for. Then again, Smythe had been wanting to test his robots on a more diverse set of power types, so why not start here. Smythe grinned evily at the image of Miguel before pressing a button on the remote controller clutched in his hands.

A load, robotic roar filled the area Miguel was patrolling in, a roar that could also be heard by Julia, Mary, and River. Suddenly, a red and chrome colored robot themed off a metallic sabertooth tiger appeared on a rooftop of a local bank, it's piercing red eyes glaring at Miguel. Suddenly it pounces towards the Spider, using what appeard to be hydrolic powered hind legs to pounce further than usual.

Miguel O'Hara has posed:
He had felt a twinge of a familiar mind and spotted MJ, then glanced to the left an saw River. Well, this was shaping up to be-

WHAT THE SHOCK?!

The sudden activation of his Spider-Sense was a bad sign. It wasn't the Something is Happening alarm, it was the Something is Happening to YOU alarm.
He looked in the direction of the...
...TIGER?
For a moment he wondered if he'd gone back in time...again. But then he saw the metallic sheen, the glowing eyes...

...THE GINORMOUS TEETH, CHIPHEAD! DODGE!

Miguel feinted to the right side, barely enough time to avoid getting eviscerated, and hit the wall on the other side of the street.

"NOW what?!"

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
And then Mary Jane -hears- it. The sound of the Bot. The soun dof an all too familiar screeching. A jolt that hits her. In the samew ay for anyone that has heard Doctor Octopus' tentacles thrashing around, of Scorpion's bulky power suit.. She goes to yell along to the Spider-Comm <<Hostiles!>> It's call for backup if Miles, if Peter, if Cindy are in the area.. She's not normally the type to do this.

But she knows how dangerous things which are -specialized- can be. Things that someone that fights the Spiders often enough makes that knows how to work with tech. And these are some of the deadliest.

River Banks has posed:
River looks up at the Spidery person, and she tilts her head from where she's hanging half-way upside down.

"Thanks, Spahder-type lady," River states to Julia, and gives a wave. "But Ah think Ah'm about punished 'nough for mah hubris." she states, reaching up to grab the flap, free her foot, and then not-so-expertly flip herself back to her feet.

"Thanks for the offer, though, nice ta know not all y'all are kinna awk--" she's cut off by a roar, ducking down and bringing one hand up over her head as the creature leaps from the rooftop towards Cyber-Spider, and her brown eyes go wide.

"LOOK OUT!" she calls out -- not for Miguel's benefit (little too late for that), but heck, who knows who else is in the area?

She pulls up a bandana at her face, pulling the blue pattern up and over her nose, and then cracks her water bottle, in order to create a trio of ice spikes.

"I really hope you're with the Blue Guy an' not the mechanical cat thing up there." she states, looking back to Julia briefly.

Julia Carpenter has posed:
Julia cracks a brief smile and chuckles as River frees herself. "Not to worry. Just figured I would stop by since you cried out." She lifts a shrug, "No reason to be awkward if we're just..." She was about to say 'helping' but the roar cuts her off.

Very glad to not have the more sensitive hearing as part of her 'package' of powers, Arachne is nonetheless quick to act in the hallmark of all Spiders.

"DOWN, SIMBA!"

Conjuring up a pair of psi-weblines, she anchors the ends to the side of the building it just leapt from, the other ends wrapping around its neck and chest area, holding tight to keep it from reaching Miguel. Sparing a glance towards River, she quirks a faint smile, "I'm not affiliated with either."

Then she's leaping up and conjuring another webline to carry her off towards the fight!

Spencer Smythe has posed:
The robot snarls in annoyance as it is held back to the building by Julia's webs. Suddenly, it's eyes start to glow brighter as it tilts it's head down to look at the webs. Bright red lasers suddenly zap out of the eyes and towards the psi-webbing, and dissolving it like it was powders. It manages to land on it's feet on the pavement below, cracking the sidewalk as it did. It suddenly turns it's head towards the heros, snarling and growling angrily. Suddenly, it's mouth opened wide and very cultured voice came out of it' mouth. The voice sighed and said,

"Well, I was only expecting one Spider tonight, not two. But, I supposed my Slayer could use the extra testing."

The voice then begin to laugh as the tiger roared it's loudest roar yet and fired lasers from it's eyes and tail at both Julia and Miguel. At the same time buzzing filled the air as a fleet of drones began to descend down, firing machine gun bullets at the heros.

Miguel O'Hara has posed:
Miguel is suddenly a VERY busy Spider.
Between the lasers, the drones, and the sudden appearance of ANOTHER Spider-Person (is she a Spider-Person?)
"Lyla..." he whispers.
"Already on it. Pay attention to your surroundings?" she chided gently.
Miguel blinked and began firing webs at the drones, being in a higher position to confront them, hoping the natural webbing will gum up their works. The drones were too plentiful, and if he wasn't careful he was going to get overwhelmed...
And then he's going to get shot like he was when that Clanton brother (who knew WHICH one) had shot him. Boy, was THAT corral ever mis-named...

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson goes to charge along towards the side of the Spider-Slayer as more drones drop in. She's going to snap ou ta large sword from her back, unsheathing it. She's really, really hoping that the Slayer doesn't consider her a threat - doesn't imagine someone slinging a sword as one. She goes to charge over towards the mecha-cat, and goes to move to go over towards it at high speed! She makes a point o fher speed going at normal levels as she swings the blade along in an arc.

She's hoping the mechanoid is going to prioritize targeting the two Spiders, an dthat she's an afterthought. Why waste the energy blocking her or evading when it has two primary targets? And she goes to slash with the blade, in an arc through the air trying to cleave through the cat's rear claw.

Hopefully the cat's sensors haven't picked up the sword's layering of secondary adamantium on the edge. And hopefully that's enough to cut -through- something. "C'Mon Ravage, go DOWN!"

River Banks has posed:
"Ah understand that reference!" River calls out to MJ before she braces herself, counts the timing, and then sends one of her trio of ice spikes sailing through the air at a time, aiming for the sabertooth's back-end and hopefully not going to interrupt Miguel's progress -- that'd probably put a dampener on their relationship.

"Well if ya don't mind, Ah *AM* friends with the blue guy and wouldn't mind a hand with that!" she grins through the bandana covering her face back towards Julia, and then sends the other two ice spikes sailing through the air!

Julia Carpenter has posed:
Already swinging off into the air, Julia just gives a quick wave to River before she's being confronted with a bunch of drones firing machine guns! She twists and spins and makes some mid-air bends that should NOT be physically possible, all in an attempt to avoid the hail of gunfire.

"Hey! Bad drones! NO MEANS NO!"

Conjuring up a larger net of webbing over the drones, she grabs a few of them all at once in the 'net', grabbing hold of the ends and free-falling towards the street at high velocity. Spinning herself around and around (and the netted drones with her), Julia slams them into the sidewalk before touching down in a three point landing amidst the crunch and smash of drones.

"Okay... so, I know that's not the Yellow Ranger's zord... but anyone else worried we're gonna be joined by four more mechs like other prehistoric creatures?

Spencer Smythe has posed:
The Tiger seemingly does not notice MJ's attack, but Spencer does. As she leaps into the air to slash down the Slayer's proximity alarm goes off. Smythe scowls in annoyance and immediatley presse a button on his controller. The second MJ's blade would touch the metal of the robot, she would be greeted by a heavy jolt of electricity. As this was happening two of the ice shards manage to hit the bot. The first bounces off, but the second manages to make a tiny breach in the robot's shell. The robot roars in anger as Miguel and Julia trash the drones. Suddenly, it leaps towards Julia in a attempt to pounce on her, electricity crackling on it's skin, fury in it's eyes.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
The shock to her is painful enough that it has Mary Jane stagger backwards from it! She has enough control to keep the blade in her hands, even as her body would spasm from the impact and she takes several steps back to try and get room between her and the cat to try and focus once more!

Miguel O'Hara has posed:
Miguel turned his head as the Spider-Sense flared and he saw the steel tiger going straight for Julia. He can smell the ozone, see the arcing energy, and tries something different.
5rWith his left hand, he fires a blast of organic webbing to the back of the tiger - a hard blast to make a solid layer. As he lands on its back, hoping the webbing patch will insulate enough, and that the muscles will constrict to keep him there, he fires anoter blast of webbing to cover the tiger's head, hoping to blunt the impact, at least.

He yanks HARD, hoping to keep those teeth away from Julia...

River Banks has posed:
The ice spikes don't seem to do much to the drone, and River narrows her eyes.

But she can protect Julia a little bit.

"Spider-Lady! DUCK!" she calls out, and she raises her hands up, taking water from all nearby available sources -- leaky hydrant, hot dog cart, bowl of turtles someone might be bringing home -- and she gets five gallons of it, and having to keep herself in one spot, she raises it up, looking to send the watery shield in a shield-bash to soften the blow or send the Tiger off target!

    "Eeny Meeny Miney --"

Julia Carpenter has posed:
"Arachne! Not Spider-Lady, I'm not af-... ACK!"

Julia doesn't get the usual Spider-Sense, but she can feel the charge in the air as the tiger leaps towards her, crackling with electricity. Miguel and River both trying to bring the tigerbot down, but Julia has other plans. She tenses, then leaps, straight up into the air, clearing about twenty feet, trying to put herself out of the reach of the bot's teeth and claws.

"Bad kitty! Someone get the industrial sized spray bottle! Or some catnip maybe?"

Twisting in mid-air, Julia drops a psi-webline down to Miguel, "Might want to swing away, friend! Water and electricity don't mix!"

Spencer Smythe has posed:
As the robot slams into the water shield Julia's prediction comes true in a rather cinamatic way. The robot begins to shake and spasm, it's functions frying and dying one by one.

"NO!!", The voice of the inventor shouts as the robot continues to malfunction. Suddenly, the robot lets out one last roar before collapsing, it's eyes dead.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
That's bad comedy Starscream! Mary Jane has by now recovered over with her sword and groans. "Come on. If you can bury that thing with webbing just in case it has a self destruct device built into it?" SHe's trusting the ones with the hyper-senses here - even if Miguel doesn't quite hve a Spider-SEnse that she knows. "And thanks." She gives a thumbs up to River.

"And maybe encase it in ice too." At the very least there's not a final monologue coming.

Miguel O'Hara has posed:
Miguel only knows his basic cybertech, but the thing is definitely borked. He can smell the ozone and feel the danger dissipate like mist.

Cyber-Spider hops off the metal monstrosity and says quietly, "Lyla, can you do a scan?"
"Scanning now," a dulcet female voice responds from somewhere on his suit. "By the way, the lady with the black suit and the red hair is known as Arachne."
"Yeah, I recognize her." He looks towards Julia, then to MJ. "I know a borked chunk of tech when I see it. Probably STILL melting in there."

River Banks has posed:
"Cyber-Spider! Are you okay?" comes River's call as she makes her way hesitantly over to Arachne and Mary-Jane, and Miguel.

She gives an up-nod "Y'all ain't hurt none right?" she questions, feeling her heart beat rapidly in her chest as she looks to the tech.

"What the heck IS that thing?!"

Julia Carpenter has posed:
Landing a bit away from the ruined mech, Julia straightens, dismissing her webbing from anywhere it might otherwise be lingering. Straightening up, she turns towards MJ and shrugs, "Without being able to check its onboard computer, I couldn't tell you what's going on with it. But if he says it's fried, I'd say go with it."

Then back to Miguel, "Wait... you.. what? Recognize? Me? I'm not..." Julia shakes her head, then looks towards the others and gives a nod, "Hey. It was great... working with you. I'm gonna head out before the cops show up. I'm.. keeping a low profile. Reasons. But.. good job, yay team!"

Julia starts off, conjuring up a webline to swing away.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would let out a sigh, "Well, it's made by the guy that does Spider-Slayers." Her tone is almost fearful. "He's very, very dangerous." And by the way she calls it that name, someone that makes things specifically -to- hunt Spiders. The fact that it gave three of them a solid fight is testament to that.

"Good job all of you.." She deadpans as Julia goes to sling away. "Leaving us with the check then?"

Miguel O'Hara has posed:
Ohhhh, CHIP. He's got to be more CAREFUL, shock it all.
"Uhm, wait, it's..." What? It's not what she thinks it is? What IS it?
"...Sorry..." he said lamely, then looked to River. "Hey there...glad to see you, River. You look good...you holding up okay?"

River Banks has posed:
"Ah, I'm good. Good. I mean, kinda just stopped this thing from maybe bein' a problem to that Arachne lady but... yeah. Definitely wasn't stuck in a mailbox earlier." she states, and rubs the back of her head.

"Spider-Slayers, huh. Sounds like y'all are gonna have a world full a' mechanical issues."

Julia Carpenter has posed:
Julia flashes at MJ, "We don't all work for NATO. The government can afford the cost a lot better than I can." Grabbing the webline, she nods to Miguel, "We should... talk. Sometime. Preferably sooner than later." Then a smile to River, "Thanks for the help!" And she's off!
