Synopsis: A crew tries to rob a trailer, Superman, Hal, Cecily, and Chizue save the day. Oh and Nova is around somewhere.
Cast of Characters: Samuel Alexander, Chizue Nakamura, Cecily Winters, Clark Kent, Hal Jordan

Samuel Alexander has posed:
Northbound Highway 87, out of Manhattan is generally not a great place to be doing anything other than sitting in traffic, swipping at your phone with an idle game if you're a no good nic and live the risky life. Charyl sits in her silver Toyota doing just that. Minding her business, doing her best to cope with the traffic by checking twitter while her left foot rests on the brake pedal and holds the car in place.

Bumper to bumper in the middle of the afternoon as people shamble on home to their suburb homes and crowded lives. Charyl's car sits ten feet behind the grime caked steel bumper of the trailer before her, the large moving blue box hauling shipments of who knows what down the road to get packed onto a plane and sent around the world. Next to Charyl is one of those obnoxiously huge suv's with the windows fully blacked out. Impossible to see into. What Charyl doesn't see is the identical suv next to the cab of the trailer. Inching along with the traffic like a normal every day, day.

Chizue Nakamura has posed:
Cell towers next to highways and freeways, were of course of particular interest to a certain subset of Ninja. Which would explain why Owari is anchored to a cell tower some fifty feet above a rooftop, all but invisible as she sifts through the tower's wired connections to find the leads she wants. Gator clips are set one at a time, until she gets a clean enough connection to begin her work in earnest, slipping a few extra lines of codes into the hardware and pulling it up remote.

Owari's ripped her way into god knows how many of these towers already to be frank, and well the issue of heights isn't much of a worry for her. Her getup cloaked, and elevated well above typical sight lines? It's boring work, terribly boring infact.

Cecily Winters has posed:
It's no black SUV, but instead it's a black sedan. Cecily is sitting in the back, where the windows are tinted, staring at her phone. She has a driver, a driver who looks quite bored, just basking in the cool glow of the AC blowing. "Thank you for the ride," she says absently, exhaling a sigh as she watches a video, on mute, and shakes her head. Some things go viral, and she'll never live this one down. A bookbag and a briefcase lay on the seat next to her and she glances out the window, frowning.

It's just one of those days. The traffic is so slow and out of sync, it feels like the car is going backwards. Her driver smiles and looks over his shoulder, "Anytime, Ms. Winters. Don't worry so much about the incident. It's good PR. Your parents will have a laugh and all will be well."

Clark Kent has posed:
Since Superman's return last week, the Man of Steel has been spotted periodically making small appearances to show the world that he is, in fact, truly alive. As cliche and comical as it might seem to the casual observer, this actually does involve saving kittens from trees or going to high schools to meet with students... or just reading to kindergardeners.

The exact implications of what the Last Son intends is are ultimately his to know, but there genuinely is a method to the madness.

Flying high above Earth, just above cloud coverage, he's smiling to himself, but not particularly minding where it is his flight takes him. He's aware enough to keep from colliding with passing planes, but aside from that? he has little to concern himself with on Earth /besides/ the people themselves.

Hal Jordan has posed:
Also patrolling, perhaps trying to establish a 'League Presence' by flying alongside Superman, is a Green glowing Lantern. It's more of a PR move than anything, as very little actually requires the combined efforts of Superman and Green Lantern at the same time. Still, since donations towards the League were starting to flow again, he wanted to encourage that by being seen in public flying alongside other League members, in a 'the band is getting back together' sort of way.

Also, Clark is his friend to begin with, and it kinda sucked he had to stay away during the 'dead' part of the last few years. But hey, now they get to hang out again, and he takes full advantage of that.

Samuel Alexander has posed:
There's something about being the new kid on the block that really makes you feel more and more like an alien. Especially when you're deadbeat dad disappears into space to worry about aliens more than you or your mom or little baby sister. The small Nova grumbles nothing to himself, his black helmet sitting firmly on his head as he sits on the bridge of the overpass, his legs dangling at the knee and swaying softly in some breeze that only he feels at the moment. "This sucks." Sam bemoans to himself kicking at nothingness as an airhorn blows and muffles the young hero's words.

The horn blows as the black suv up front starts to block the truck from moving forward. The passenger steps out after opening the door and holding his palm up towards the driver to motion the man to get out of the cab and a flash of a firearm does enough to cause the driver to start sweating. "Okay okay, I have a family. Don't hurt me." The Amazon Driver mumbles in a stream of fear fueled excuses to not hurt him as he climbs out of the truck. The man who ushered him out steps towards the door and as he is about to sit into the truck, shrugs his shoulders. "Sorry. Don't care." And BANG!

Chizue Nakamura has posed:
Network intrusion successful, she plucks those leads away and replaces those panels good as new. It's about time to slip away and go grab some grub, until the shot rings out. She leans back, twisting in her harness to lay eyes on the highway. The dead body revealed in magnified Hi-def, well isn't something she can easily ignore. So she undoes her harness and just hangs for a moment, before launching herself out into thin air. Two rotations, and she flicks out her left wrist to send out a stark white line to a massive traffic sign mounted above the overpass.

That stealth gear of hers can't quite keep up, and it erupts in a veritable cornicopia of color and shape that's anything but stealthy really. It does make her trajectory all the more clear as she swings down under that sign, and cuts the line to glide above the traffic before hitting pavement in a graceful roll before popping up in a dead sprint without missing a beat. She races down the centerline one row over, keeping low and moving at an easily superhuman pace.

A Ninja, from seemingly nowhere of course.

Cecily Winters has posed:
"Mom already has," Cecily responds to her driver, voice deadpan, but the corners of her mouth tugging upwards in a ghost of a smile. "I'm no hero, I just help facilitate hero-ing. I belong as far from the cameras as po--" BANG!

The vixen's ears shoot up, perked fully and her head jerks upwards as well. "Oh dear, someone must have gotten a flat..." muses her driver, but Cecily is already grabbing her bags and opening the door. "...no, that's gunfire. Sorry, dear, but I think I'm staying here for a bit longer. If this traffic ends up going anywhere, I'll be back.."

She exhales a sigh, slinging her bookbag over her shoulder and holding the case under one arm as she ducks out into traffic, ears lifted and swiveling, trying to find the source of the disturbance.

Clark Kent has posed:
"I've missed this, Hal." Kal says to his compatriot flying in conjunction beside him, lowering one fist down to his side to bank off to the right in a lazy turn that would bring them over, roughly, Manhattan. "It's just like old times." The hand comes back out, both pointing ahead of him as he levels with his cape fluttering out behind him against the force of the passing wind.

Below them.

Well below them...

There's the sound of honking horns and Superman glances down just for the sake of curiosity. Telescopically viewing the scene with a slight twitch at his otherwise bemused smile beginning to fade into obscurity when the nature of those blown horns becomes apparent to him. Gun wielding assailants? "Situation down there. Follow me."

Easier said than done.

Superman disappears from beside his friend with a CRACK BOOM as he breaks the sound barrier, leaving a trail of cloud like a gauze rifle fired through balistics gel. Watching, in slow motion, as he passes the snap of the firearm as the receiver jerks back after striking the firing pin. The bullet travels at speed, sure, but there's an old saying about The Last Son of Krypton and before it impacts the young Amazon driver...

There's a Red and Blue statue standing infront of him. The bullet smashes against his chest, displacing against his left peck. The long red cap flutters around him as he settles from the suddenness of his arrival. Muscular shoulders roll backwards and Kal brings up a hand to gentle swipe his fingers down against the projectile stuck against his costume, flicking it from his chest to fall upon the pavement.

"I'm going to have to ask you to put down the firearm and present yourself to law enforcement for arrest." quiet, non threatening, but confident. Superman is absymally unafraid of the individuals in that SUV.

Can they say the same about him?

Hal Jordan has posed:
"Me too." The skies just seemed friendlier now. And...it just felt good. Knowing that he'd earned the trust of a great man, and that same man thought him worthy of friendship. It was a high honor. And yet...pals are still pals, no matter how much they've done for the world.

As the situation breaks out, Green Lantern also dives down, now with a brighter green, as his forcefield is now in evidence. He could simply put the crooks in green cages...but Superman gave them the chance to surrender peacefully. He figured there was a 98 percent chance just that would happen, so he...declines to add anything.

Samuel Alexander has posed:
The driver falls backwards, fainting at the gun being leveled in his direction and he falls, completely unaware of his life being saved by the Superman himself. The man's thick frame smacks on the pavement below and he lays there, motionless, as the gunshot still echoes around him in the sudden silence of traffic.

The gunman holds his hands up quickly. "Whoa... didn't expect you here." The man says, the gun in his gloved hand dangling off his finger as the trigger guard holds onto his digit. He's surrendering awfully quickly and the guys in the front SUV do the same. Two more guys climb out, the clatter of their guns hitting the ground at Superman and Green Lantern's feet. "Completely wrong league. We're not idiots." The men surrendering admit.

Chizue Nakamura has posed:
Owari skids to a stop, those sneaker-tabi sliding across the pavement until she comes to a stop. That hooded short cloak over some sort of a softshell, leggings and knee pad all formed from a black so absolutely perfect it makes Vanta black look bright pink. Not that it lasts for long, as once she transitions to stationary it all but immediately begins resolving back into the background to leave her all but invisible save the very faintest of outlines. All except the mask that is, that polygonal raccoon dog mask backlit in bright violet in complete contrast to the rest of her. That mostly transparent sword held low to one side as she eyes the would be gunmen.

That sword comes out in a flash of superhuman speed, but it's held low off to one side. Not that the transparent blade is even that easy to really even make out. "A wise decision, interlace your fingers behind your head and apologize."Comes that voice, washed through goodness knows how many filters designed to make the otherwise short and slight Owari as intimidating as possible.

Cecily Winters has posed:
First the gunshot, and then the sonic boom. It's not hard for Cecily to pinpoint the direction of the trouble, especially when Superman is hovering right there. She's barely halfway out of the car when she sees the proceedings, and exhales a sigh. "Oh, thank goodness. Hm?" And there's Green Lantern right along with him. "Nevermind, dear," she exhales a soft laugh, leaning on the open door. If traffic hadn't been at a standstill already, it certainly would be now.

"Seems the stories are true, at least... Superman is back and doing good deeds," she says quietly, laying her bags back on the seat and keeping an eye on the happenings. She remains alert, however, because anything can happen, and while heroes are drawn to trouble, the inverse is also often true.

Clark Kent has posed:
"That was a very wise decision, friends." Superman says to the attempted thiefs, gently touching one toe down, rolling foot to heel. He stands infront of them easily, stepping forward to reach out and take the gun dangling from the shooters finger. "I just prevented you from being arrested for murder and ending this young mans life needlessly." Meaning the driver behind him.

Blue eyes settle on the ney invisible, mostly, ninja with her sword down and back aiding in the arrest. There's a clipped nod approval, so long as that weapon doesn't start cutting peoples arms off, he seems content to have the assistance. Ala Green Lantern hovering nearby. There's also the matter of all the bystanders and onlookers rubbernecking to catch sight of Superman apprehending the assailants. He tries not to pay much mind to it, smiling periodically when he hears the snap wizz of a cellphone camera lense aimmed in their direction.

"You should listen to the lady. Down on your knees, fingers laced behind your head. Green Lantern, could you construct a means for the Officers to get here through the traffic?" Calling up to the other Leaguer.

Hal Jordan has posed:
"Got it." A green road appears before the nearest two cop cars, each leading over traffic, and right to this particular area so they can apprehend these guys and...slowly...take them away. Getting them to the situation is easier than getting them out of it, but then, there's no particular hurry for them getting back to the precinct once they have the crooks in custody.

"...It's not just lives the of the innocent we save. Sometimes, we end up saving the guilty too. That's a charge that would've happened and didn't because we happened to be here." Well, the cops could file attempted murder charges, if the saved man wishes to press them. "...Years of your life don't have to be spent behind bars now. Think about what you want to do with that time, because we might not be here next time, and once somebody dies, there's no going back."

Elsewhere, when cops see a green onramp appear in front of them, they know who has to be causing that, so they flip the sirens on and head to the scene of the crime, over traffic.
