Date of Scene: 08 June 2020
Location: The Coffee Bean
Synopsis: A number of friends old and new happen by the same coffee house.
Cast of Characters: Wanda Maximoff, Rachel Summers, Artemis, Clea, Clint Barton, Clarice Ferguson, Steve Rogers, Jean Grey

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
The day is a mild one for what is already Summer. Clouds have broken up the sunlight just enough to give respites from the bright glare, and a breeze is blowing in from the ocean giving a little extra cooling as well.

The door to the Coffee Bean opens and Wanda Maximoff walks in. She's wearing a black skirt and a purple blouse, with dark boots. She has a bit of a preoccupied look as she's been out for one of the many walks that she takes through the city. Originally it was exploring, learning her way, and learning the people. But she's been here long enough that now it is about those things somewhat, but generally more about just thinking.

She lets the door close behind her as she wanders over towards the counter. A glance around the room before turning back to the sign to determine what to order.

Rachel Summers has posed:
To keep matters simple, Rachel has taken to spending more of her time in the city, and less of it with the X-Folks. She's finding that she has different views of the world, the universe, and the mutant situation than a lot of them. If only because she has seen what she believes to be the end results of the current path they are on.
She's tried begging them to go a different route, to no avail. So she's trying to figure out something new. Coffee is however, the life's blood of human and mutant alike it seems. And she has been in this coffee house, nursing a cup or seven. Something about the French Vanilla Cappuccino that this place make has drawn her into its gravity well, and not let go of her body or soul.
As usual, when she is out in public, she hides her facial scars using a trickle of her mental powers. Okay, so it's less hiding and more subtly convincing people that they haven't seen the scars. But either way, it's not because she is ashamed of being a mutant. It is because she is ashamed of what the scars represent and the history she has due to them.
Sitting at a side table, Rachel watches the newcomer enter, and as she heads to the counter, Rachel stands to get another refill. "I highly recommend the French Vanilla here. I am firmly of the belief that they put crack cocaine in to make it more addictive." she says with a polite smile.

Artemis has posed:
Artemis has been slowly integrating into man's world. She's not exactly looking to become a part of it but she knows what it takes to get what she wants. Over seas, it is a lot less weird in some of the places she has been for a woman in armor to walk around. Here, she's wearing a pair of loose fitting pants and a blouse with her armor underneath. It actually works pretty well, so far. Now, she wishes more of the coffee that they like so much. It does nothing for her but the taste is very interesting to her.

When she walks in, she notes the other women waiting in line and simply takes her spot behind them. She notes Rachel's words and then looks up at the board before her. Her long hair idly swaying behind her as she considers the various options. She has enjoyed a few of the choices already, including the french vanilla, and now she wants something new. For now, the massive red head doesn't really look to the other two.

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Wanda Maximoff looks over towards Rachel as the younger girl comes over and offers the recommendation. In Wanda's slow delivery and soft accent, she replies, "That... does sound delicious. Unless it actually had cocaine in it." Wanda flashes Rachel a soft grin and then looks back to the counter, resting her hands wide upon it, drumming slightly as she looks down the list.

Wanda glances over her shoulder towards Artemis as she hears the other woman's approach. There is a brief look of curiosity but Wanda turns back without saying anything as the clerk is moving over to her. "Yes, the Frappuccino drink, that's iced, yes? Oh good. I'll have one of those." Wanda glances towards Rachel. "In French Vanilla, please," she adds with a smile for the redhead.

Wanda gives a little wave of her phone towards the scanner to pay for it and then moves aside, giving Artemis a pleasant smile and a nod of her head as she moves out of the way.

Rachel Summers has posed:
As for clothing, Rachel is dressed simply in a black Pink Floyd, Dark side of the Moon teeshirt, and well worn bluejeans that looks like they are as close to wearing through as they are comfortable. Nothing extravagant there. Except for the fact that the shirt is one of those short hemmed ones that leaves the tummy somewhat exposed. Good thing it's not armor, eh?
But she grins to Wanda and steps aside. She has put her cup on the counter and knows that they will get to her refill whenever it's convenient. She's in no rush really. But she leans on the counter and says, "It's like a Redhead convention in here, eh?"

Artemis has posed:
Stepping to the counter, Artemis nods to both of the other girls when they move aside and she looks up before she looks back down, "I will take the caramel frap with five extra shots of your espresso." She nods her head and the girl behind the counter's eyes go briefly wide but then she considers the massive woman and then enters it in. Artemis places a bill on the counter before adding, "Largest size." She then looks over to Rachel as she speaks and blinks before looking at the pair and nodding, "It does seem to be a popular hair color today." She smiles briefly before looking back to collect her change and slide it back into her pocket.

She then steps aside for others to make their orders and needs before she hmms at the sight of Wanda Maximoff and tilts her head, "You seem oddly familiar."

Clea has posed:
Perhaps the most outsider of them all hears a clarion cry of her peers at a subconscious level? It's not necessarily the case, but a pretty coincidence that Clea flits into the coffeeshop. The all encompassing welcome of the brewed bean sings to the senses, even for a girl that had no such plant dispensing addictive beverages in its seeds wherever she comes from.

Her gown shifts and flows around her gently while she takes in the building and its peoole with a fascinated look, but falling into line is not hard. Two steps to the side places her squarely behind Wanda and Artemis, taking in the variety of different drinks on offer. Adulterations of hazelnut, caramel, dark cherry, and half a dozen pumps of some ichorously sweet syrup all call. Choices upon choices. They need to be regarded at a distance, first. Then a decision will fall in, here or there.

Frappuccino is iced? A note made. When it's safer to approach, she awaits on the barista serving up those potions and concoctions worthy of sin and delight. The fall of white curls rolls over her shoulder. "How do you ever pick just one? I need a string of small cups to choose from," she admits. This is to anyone, though her cultivated voice has a slight overtone of English, crisp and precise, that probably hints it isn't at all her native tongue. It sounds, if one hears, vaguely like Hong Kong's tone. Maybe.

"Five shots of espresso, that's bold." A smile then, and she tips her head up. "A matcha green tea latte with a pump of lavender, a pump of vanilla, and two dollops of honey, please. Well mixed, especially with that."

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Wanda looks towards the hair of the other woman as she lets out a soft laugh. "I suppose it is," she says. Wanda looks back towards the clerk to ask, "I don't suppose there's a discount for redheads today, hmm?" The clerk gives her a smile, and the other two ladies as well but shakes his head. "Not officially, but I'll see what I can do maybe," he says as he goes to get Rachel's refill.

The auburn-haired woman turns back towards Artemis as she hears the question. "I'm Wanda Maximoff," she offers, as if the name might fill in the answer for Artemis. "You would fit in amongst Thor's friends," Wanda tells Artemis, but leans closer to say in stage whisper, "Though his friends would probably hit on you if so." Wanda gives a quick, friendly smile after the comment to make it just a joke.

Though not having seen Clea enter, Wanda's posture straightens just a bit, and she turns her head to look over as she feels the presence of the other woman before she actually sees her. "Clea, what a nice surprise," Wanda offers in a warm greeting.

Rachel Summers has posed:
Thor? Rachel turns her head to study Wanda a bit more intensely. "Excuse me. But... you know Thor?" She asks. "Is Mister Stark okay? I was...." She pauses and swallows, "... present during his latest rescue." she remarks. "I have not heard from any of them since then. Not like I gave them my phone number or anything."
Yeah, this skinny little redhead doesn't have the look of a tried and true warrior like Artemis. She's just a twenty something redhead who needs some more meat on her bones.

Artemis has posed:
A look over at Clea as she comes in and she nods to the woman in response, "It is the only way that I get any feel for the espresso. I do not really get much." She shrugs, "I also enjoy the flavor. Bitter and sweet." She then looks back over to Wanda and nods to her, "I see. Wanda Maximoff." She considers, "Of Genosha, yes?" She asks and then she blinks a few times, "I do not know much about this but I have heard of Thor and his friends might be disappointed as I hit back. Harder." She nods.

She then looks over to Rachel briefly and hmms at her. She has seen others of similar size be more impressive than they seem. She doesn't know much about any of this but looks to Wanda for the answer all the same.

Clea has posed:
"Miss Maximoff," Clea announces warmly. Because just calling someone Wanda doesn't quite fit with the formality to which she aspires or acquired from someone precise in their manners and formality. Those manners do originate from East Asia, at least in the forward bow and her palms coming together. Soon enough her hands slip apart, preparing to pay for her earthy green drink with a dome top to accommodate a swizzle of whipped cream. Not about to turn that down when the barista asks if she would like any. "I appear the odd one out. Clea, by the way." A little swish of her hair brings those pale waves rolling like a milk-churned sea. "You tempt me to try a different shade and see whether it suits. Your drink sounds delicious, miss." Artemis. A nickname? A title. "Every different flavour to eventually be sampled, too, and maybe I can settle on one finally." With this, her smile grows into something soft and steady.

One additional order follows the first; "A large chai latte, please, heavier on the spice?" She calculates the added cost and slides a bill over that... Well, it came from somewhere, as that dress has nearly invisible pockets worked into the skirt that flows idly around her legs.

"Be careful with Thor Odinson, for he lavishes his charm quite freely. Wanda is right." A solemn nod, but her laugh is warm and kind.

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
The Scarlet Witch looks a little surprised as Rachel mentions knowing Thor. "Yes, as far as I know Tony is recovering well," she offers to her, Wanda's head tilting just a bit as if trying to recognize Rachel. "I apologize, I am not familiar with you. You helped with his rescue?" she repeats to try to elicit more information from Rachel on herself.

The woman's green-eyed gaze swings over to Artemis. At the comment about Thor and the Asgardians being disappointed she hits back, Wanda gives a slow shake of her head. "I think that would more likely intrigue them, than disappoint," she replies.

Wanda's gaze swings back to Clea. "You would look good with red hair," Wanda concludes. "And it would fit in around the mansion too with Nat and I." She pulls out her phone and taps out something onto it, sending off a text and then pocketing the phone again.

Rachel Summers has posed:
Well, it's a round robin now. Rachel fidgets a bit and pays for her refill with a smile given to the barista. "Well, at the time I was a bit... more dramatic in appearance." she admits before taking a small sip of her coffee and stepping away from the counter in an effort to get some distance from random bystanders before sharing more information.
She eyes Artemis though as she moves and uses her coffee cup held up before her face to hide her apprehension and hesitation in speaking further.

Artemis has posed:
A look over at Clea briefly and Artemis hmms softly to her before shaking her head, "Your hair is beautiful just the way it is." She nods her head, "No need to fit in." She then looks over at the others briefly before adding, "I am Artemis." She nods her head, "And if they wish a fight, then they'd find one. I do not care if they are intrigued or not." She then shrugs and looks back briefly to see if her drink is ready. She then looks back to Wanda and hmms.

"Mansion?" She asks and tilts her head before she looks again to Rachel but she doesn't really know what to make of the girl at the moment. She just then idly crosses her arms.

Clint Barton has posed:
A purple and black motorcycle pulls up to the curb outside and Clint Barton steps off, removing the similarly coloured helmet and tucking it under his arm before heading inside. The tall blonde man, pauses in the door, glancing left and right before he spots some familiar faces in Wanda and Clea and waves before heading over to the counter to place an order, smiling as he orders their largest coffee with as much milk and sugar as it could take before making his way to the little group of (mostly) red-heads.

"Hey got your text," he says to Wanda, leaning in and kissing her cheek before finding himself a seat, as he does, he says, "Clea," giving his fellow Avenger a nod, "And good to meet the rest of you, I'm Clint Barton."

Clea has posed:
Just up and changing her locks from snow to blood might not be the thing. Clea pays for the second drink that's delivered in a honeycomb, recycled paper sleeve. Soon as she has it, she takes a sip, disregarding the temperature or a warning about it being hot. Some people, you just can't tell them anything. She is already in process of tasting the spicy kick, and her sigh of delight is audible. "Perfect, thank you. This is just right." And with the barest tap of fingertips to the side of the frappuccino in her other hand, the chai up and vanishes. A pinpoint spell to transport it somewhere else might be overlooked.

It certainly didn't go in the trash can. She busies herself sipping the colder drink, and takes her sweet time about enjoying it too. Matcha is bitter but smooth, and it suits her fancy. She listens to the conversation, laughing softly. "Thank you for suggesting it's lovely. I get many looks for it, and being red would save me explaining." Her wave is friendly for Clint when he slides within the coffeeshop, revealing paint-flecked nails. Someone's been using a brush messily. "It's good to see you, Clint. I hope you all have a lovely day, but I need to return to a convincing proposal for land acquisition in Paris."

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Wanda seems like she might have noted Rachel's reluctance to say more, and she doesn't press the younger woman on it. Her eyes swing to Artemis instead, giving a nod at her question and answering simply, "The Avenger's Mansion."

The clerk sets Wanda's drink on the counter. "One French vanilla frappuccino," he says. Wanda picks up the drink with a grateful look towards him. "Thank you," she says, getting a straw and inserting it into the drink.

Clint's arrival brings the brightest smile yet from the Transian woman. "Clint, you got my message," she says, returning the kiss to her cheek with one of her own for him. She brushes a hand over his shoulder and says, "You know I'm going to have buy you some other colors. Bright yellow maybe. And burnt orange," she says in a teasing voice.

Rachel Summers has posed:
Oh, it is not that Rachel doesn't want to say more. It's that she's not the sort who wants to spill such details in front of random baristas and the like. But as Clint arrives, her green eyes flicker to the front door and she notes his presence.
"Perhaps... a table outside? Or in the back might be better for talking about .... confidential matters?" she asks with a grimace.

Artemis has posed:
A soft hmm is given as Clea leaves before Artemis turns to look to Clint as he arrives. She looks briefly at Wanda and then nods her head, "I see." She states simply enough and then takes her drink when it is ready and takes a sip of it. She then looks over at Rachel and then she blinks before she nods, "Well, if you were seeking privacy, I shall be going." She takes a sip of her drink and she idly turns to walk away before briefly turning her gaze back over to Artemis, "I am Artemis. Nice to meet you, albeit briefly." She then continues along her way toward the door.

Rachel Summers has posed:
A bit of panic now as Rachel shakes her head, "No, I didn't mean.." she begins, before just letting her shoulders sag, "Never mind, I should be the one leaving." she mutters as she sets down her coffee cup. "I just... you're... I was... well shit."

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
The elven-like mutant known as Blink has taken to learn more about New York now that she has been somewhat adrift after Genosha's fall. And today turns out it's time for the Coffee Bean. It's a curious enough place for her to make her way here. No make-up or other such disguises to hide her own mutations though so the woman that steps into the Bean sports that purple hair, the elven ears, even the unnatural green eyes. Maybe she is done with the hiding.

She still walks in with care though, a look around the small cafe with her head turning about and then she finally settles on the grouping nearby. She is just about to skip past but then her gaze returns there. Some recognition falls on her eyes and she looks somewhat surprised, blinking once. Not that it stops her from fully walking in and starting to approach, one hand raising in a tentative greeting.

"Greetings, Highness." this said in Wanda's direction. In truth she had never really known how exactly to call Wanda. Highness seemed nice and formal for now!

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint snorts a laugh in Wanda's direction, "C'mon, purple is awesome, it's the colour of royalty don't you know?" he teases in a way that suggests this is a common thread of banter between him and the Transian witch.

He waves to the others, though when two of them take off, he surreptitiously gives his pits a sniff. "I did shower, right?" he asks Wanda before volunteering, "If we do want privacy, I've got this," he says, producing a small SHIELD issue white noise generator, just the thing for having a private conversation in a public place.

As Clarice arrives, calling Wanda by her title, Clint can't help but smirk, "And speaking of royalty..." he murmurs, before giving Clarice a nod of greeting and a warm smile.

Steve Rogers has posed:
A second motorcycle arrives not terribly long after the first, this one more monochromatic but for a splash of cherry-red and chrome. Steve had gotten a text as well about a gathering and being in the area, he decides to stop in. He isn't wearing a helmet in counter to Clint (a very bad habit sure to bite him in his perfect posterior at some point or another), but he is in a dark-brown motorcycle jacket and tough blue-jeans. Combat boots sound off certain steps as he enters the cafe and looks about, spotting the group with little effort.

A lift of his hand as the Captain approaches, a polite smile on his face. "Clint, Wanda. Miss Summers," a nod to her. He doesn't know Clarice, but an inclination of his head goes to her as well. Artemis appears to be leaving, so Steve doesn't immediately assume she's part of the group. "Got a text. It's a party," he adds.

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Wanda Maximoff eyes the exchange between Rachel and Artemis. "Whatever works best, is amenable," Wanda offers, whether it's a quiet table or not. Not pushing them any particular direction. "Artemis, very nice to meet you," Wanda says, and seeming to consider the woman's name. Together with her size, and perhaps if that armor under her clothing is visible at her neckline or elsewhere, it might give her thoughts.

Wanda looks back to Clint, laughing. "And I'm already wearing purple," she points out, her blouse is indeed that color. Wanda looks back to Clarice as the obvious mutant girl comes in. "Clarice, very good to see you. Please, just Wanda. Anytime formalities are not needed," she says. And then adds in a stage whisper, "And half the time they are but you can get away with it." Wanda gives Clarice a friendly wink and then says, "Clint, do you know Clarice? This is Clint Barton," Wanda offers in introduction.

The arrival of Steve Rogers sends a little stir through the coffee house. More recognizable to the crowds than the rest combined. And he's not wearing that innocuous baseball cap that just makes him seem to blend into the crowds! "Steve," Wanda says warmly. "Glad you could make it. We're just getting our drinks," she says, holding up hers. Clint doesn't have one yet.

Artemis has posed:
The woman stops briefly to look over at Rachel and blinks, shaking her head, "No, obviously you two..." She pauses and looks at Clarice and then at Clint and then at Steve before she pauses and looks back to Rachel, "You five obviously know each other. I do not wish to interrupt any private communication you wish to have." And with that she pauses briefly to look again at Steve and then blinks. She considers him and then she looks to Wanda. Right. She said Avengers Mansion. Well, then it probably is.

"Excuse me." She asks of Steve Rogers, "You wouldn't happen to be the man they call Captain America?" She asks of him before looking briefly at Clint and Wanda and then back more directly at Steve.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
"Private..?" Clarice's eyes go briefly to Artemis. She was just here for coffee! Honest! "Well, it's mostly a coincidence for me. An happy one too." her eyes then trailing back to Wanda and she nodding, not hiding a small grin. "Wanda it is and .., no I don't." she says about knowing Clint, looking up at him. "Good to meet you." offering the man a warm smile of her own. She notes Rachel nearby. "Hey, Rachel." then a small laugh at the gathering of people she actually knows. "Small world, uh?"

But then someone mentions Captain America. It makes Clarice pivot to regard the tall blond. She squints her eyes, blinks once. Yes, very close to the collectable figures she will never admit she has. And now that she thinks about it..., she has one of almost everyone present! Well...

"Hello, Sir." She says to Steve. Always respectful this Clarice!

Rachel Summers has posed:
And there's Steve. Cap. One of the most recognizable men in America. Rachel's eyes widen as he calls her by name. He remembers her. There is some relief and thanks in her eyes silently. She bobs her head and opens her mouth to speak. Then she clamps it shut again. She nods to Clarice and shrugs her shoulders, "Seems like I am always saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. Good to see you again Captain. I was just asking ..... wait, highness?!" she asks, her head whipping about to stare at Wanda, "Highness?" The unspoken 'oh shit' can plainly be heard, and not because she is a telepath.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint remedies the lack of drink picking up his large coffee with cream and sugar from the counter. "Good to see you Steve," he greets The Star Spangled Man with a Plan, okay maybe not so star spangled at the moment, before shaking hands with Clarice. "Nice to meet you, how do you know Wanda?" he asks.

As for the others? Warm smiles for all right now as things get settled about who's going and who's staying and who is indeed a royal or not. Clint takes it all in stride.

Steve Rogers has posed:
"My timing's good then," he replies to Wanda, his mannered smile not fading an inch. "Might as well get something while 'm in here."

Artemis garners his attention next, and the man with hands slung off his jean pockets by his thumbs looks to her, eyebrows lifted. Drat -- he did forget his baseball cap. "Yes, Captain Rogers," he confirms to the young woman. "Nice to meet you, Miss...?" His true-blues then shift to Clarice and she gets the same little nod. "And hello to you as well, Miss...?" Introductions necessary all around, clearly, the better for the man to never forget faces and names.

Jean Grey has posed:
Well, the nice thing about having a teleporter (or several) on the team?

You're never too far away from good coffee.

Jean Grey comes in with a pair of shopping bags as, well, apparently after the past few days she needed to get some store walking in. And well, Clarice is here, and that's her ride back. Plus, again, coffee. Though as her head tilts around, she suddenly smiles, changing course to move up towards Artemis, "Hey, long time no see." The much more dimunitive redhead flashes Artemis a warm grin. "You've been okay?"

Artemis has posed:
A nod and she smiles in response to Steve, "I see. Well, it is good to meet you. You are a famous warrior and impressive. I am Artemis, of the Bana-Mighdal." Seems Captain America gets a slightly longer name than the others for some reason. She nods her head before she looks over with a blink at Rachel before she tilts her head, "If you need privacy, that is not a problem. I merely need to know." She then is surprised to hear a familiar voice and looks back in time to see Jean, "Oh." She states, "Yes, it has been a while." She nods her head, "Jean, yes?" She asks and nods her head, "I have been well. How have you been?" She really isn't used to this type of greeting but so it is.

Rachel Summers has posed:
But then Rachel turns to regard Clarice, and offers a weak smile. "Hi Clare." she says, shortening the name a bit for the sake of friendliness and such. She shrugs her shoulders, still feeling awkward and -totally- out of her depth here.
"I really just wanted ... well, I was hoping that Mister Stark was alright. I haven't spoken to any of you guys since the rescue." she says towards Steve.
And then with an awkward gesture towards Wanda, she adds, "But Her Highness?" She asks that as if making sure that's what she should call her, "Informed me that he was good, so... that's good."

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Wanda smiles to Steve and says, "Their... frappuccino is quite good for a warm day." Apparently she hasn't had one of the blended ice drinks before. She takes a sip of hers and then waves towards Jean Grey as she comes in. "Jean! Didn't expect to bump into you," she offers warmly.

The Transian woman turns back to Clint. "Clarice worked at my father's place," she explains to him in simple-sounding terms. "Very talented and useful, I might add," Wanda says, her smile turning into a compliment for Clarice.

Wanda looks back and sees Clarice's reaction to Steve's entrance. She breaks out in a soft smile. "Steve, this is Clarice Ferguson. A good friend. Someone whose acquaintance is well worth making," she says, resting her hand on the younger Asian woman's shoulder.

Wanda looks back to Clint then. "So," she says. "Work didn't call you away today? Maybe we can start up that crock pot. I'm sorry that we kind of... ate it all last time before you got home," she says of the impromptu family gathering with Pietro and Lorna.

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean smiles a bit, more genuinely this time towards Artemis, "I've been good. Been really busy with ah... work, you know." Because while everyone here probably knows who she is, she doesn't feel like advertising either. Flashing a brief smile over to Rachel and Clarice, she then turns back to Artemis... and then she hears Wanda calling out her name. "Hey, um, be right back."

With that, Jean just moves rapidly over towards Wanda, embracing her in a tight and fierce hug as she says, "Damn, Wanda, I've been needing to talk to you for ages. Things have been so insane the past few weeks." She actually shudders a bit, as apparently the redhead has been carrying quite a bit of baggage in her head lately.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Clarice exchanges the handshake with Clint, "Well, Genosha and .." she gestures with one hand in a vague gesture, her smile faltering just so for a moment though when Wanda complements the explanation she seems grateful, both at it and also at the compliment afterwards. "I but do my duty." one of those true believers. Then with the introductions going around Clarice smiles up at Steve. "Hey well, it's an honor to meet you all really." yes, she can recognize the real heroes when she sees them, her eyes seeming a touch brighter. It is always an uplifting thing for her who had a lack of hope just a few weeks ago.

A gesture then goes to Jean. "We were shopping and then, well, coffee hunting."

Steve Rogers has posed:
"Last I checked, Tony's healing up just fine. No need to worry 'bout him. He's made of stern stuff." The reassurance goes to Rachel and Steve makes a note to share her concerns with the genius-inventor next time he touches base.

True-blues return to Artemis. They have a measuring patience to them now, as if she were being filed away for later reference if need be. She's addressed by the full title she offers. "Nice to meet you, Artemis of the Bana-Mighdal. You're too kind," the Captain adds with a grace of accepting the compliment. "Just do what I have to do when the world needs it."

Wanda introduces Clarice and Steve looks to the young woman. "Nice to meet you too, Miss Clarice. If Wanda speaks for you, it bodes well."

His attention slips to Jean and lingers before shifting to how she greets Wanda in particular. A memory of files kept in the Avengers Mansion sparks the telepath's name to his mind and he nods to himself, now smiling faintly.

"You think one of those slushed coffees?" A musing comment connected to Wanda's suggestion. "Mmm...just a black coffee'll do. Back in two shakes of a lamb's tail," he informs the group before stepping over to the counter to order.

Clint Barton has posed:
"Figured, but didn't want to assume," Clint says to both Clarice and Wanda regarding how they knew each other. "Anyhow, always good to meet another of Wanda's friends from back home," he says, before answering Wanda, "Day off today, and yes, did note the sudden lack of gumbo last time," he teases. "We can set it up again today though."

Then there's a sudden Jean attack and Clint steps out of the way with his coffee to let the friends catchup.

Rachel Summers has posed:
Jean? Rachel silently eeps. "Um. Hi." she says towards Jean as she sips at her coffee. "Hi Jean." She adds, to specify who she was greeting. She's not gonna call her mom in a random coffee shop in front of who knows how many customers and bystanders.
But she gives Steve a smile as she steps a bit closer to him, "Hey Cap. I um.. wanted to apologize for being so presumptuous with my... intrusions during the rescue. But.. I would love to talk to you sometime about something else. No rush. Just... I had a question to ask that I think might be official Avengers business."
And then she turns and approaches Jean, awkwardly unsure of whether to offer a handshake, a hug, nothing....

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Wanda Maximoff returns the hug to Jean. "I know things have been a bit tense, Lorna had mentioned a few things," Wanda says, avoiding going into details about what had been related to her. "Have there been any improvements in the situation?" she asks, keeping it vague still.

Wanda motions over to Clarice and says to Clint, "Perhaps we might have Clarice by sometime to work out with us. I think you in particular would enjoy some of her talents and how they might be used," she comments to Clint.

She takes another sip of her drink. "Ah, this really is perfect for the day," she says. She can't help but give a slight grin at Steve and his plain black coffee.

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean nods over towards Wanda, letting her go after a long moment, "Yeah, it's resolved... mostly. Just picking up pieces, you know?" She looks a bit worn out, for those that know her, definitely having been burning the candle at both ends the past couple weeks.

She flashes Clint a smile, "Hey again." And then Rachel approaches. Which, well.

It's obvious to any observers that the two are related. Cousins, maybe, or even Rachel's her little sister? But Rachel gets a heartfelt look from the slightly older woman, right before Rachel is drawn into a tight hug. "Hey, kid." And then there's a thought echoing in Rachel's mind, as Jean opens a private link with her.

<< I'm so sorry about... well, everything. >> And she definitely means it, as she just embraces Rachel like a long-lost relative. Funny, that...

Artemis has posed:
A look over at Jean as she walks over to Wanda and she looks at her briefly before looking at the pair and filing that away. She then looks over to Steve and nods to him again as he seems to return her greeting but then Rachel and Jean are interacting and her eyebrow arches. She considers it a moment before she shrugs softly and looks then finally over to Blink. She hmms as that one kinda stands out more than the others. All the same, though, it is by far not hte strangest thing she's seen.

She pauses a long moment before turning her gaze once more back to Jean and then she sips her drink and considers everything that is happening. She considers the door, starting to feel like an odd one out.

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
When Jean goes about greeting Wanda in that warm manner it makes the purple-haired one to grin yet the mention about tension makes Clarice's eyes go back to Wanda, a knowing look to them. But it's also not her place to comment. She simply presses her lips to a thin line. Instead she focuses on what is said at her. "Oh, hey. Sure. Always willing to be of help." she says in a grateful manner. "I think I can even imagine how I could be useful for someone who is such a reknown archer." some amusement cropping up to her expression at the possibilities. Yes, she could think of a few things.

But then it's time to get some coffee, so she looks at the others. "Anyone else wants a coffee. I hear Jean was buying." she can totally do it! Blink certainly can't.

Though a curious look is given between Rachel and Jean. It's not as if she had actually noted those similarities before, but now that they are next to one another ....

With the look from Artemis Clarice also glances at her in a curious manner. She heard the introduction earlier. And being the curious one that she is she inquires. "What are the Bana-Mighdal?"

Clint Barton has posed:
"Hey," Clint greets Jean with a nod before she moves off to speak to Rachel..

Clint's brows raise when it's mentioned Clarice might have something to add to their workouts. "Oh?" he asks her, smiling at the renowned archer bit, "Do tell, what did you have in mind?"

Steve Rogers has posed:
Attention pulled briefly aside from small chat with the barista behind the counter working at pulling his black coffee, Steve glances over at Rachel. His hand lifts off his pants pocket in a small dismissive gesture. "'ppreciate your apology 'nd your acknowledgement that a warning's best. Better a discussion 'bout business elsewhere though, I agree. You've got my number, feel free to reach out. There's always a few minutes in the day," he opines with a reserved little smile.

He then returns to the group, having been handed his tall black, no sugar, no cream, nothing fancy except the subtlety of the coffee's roasting notes -- ah, super-senses. Arriving at the peripheral, he lingers, quiet and content to observe very shortly. His phone goes off in his pocket and by the tone, he recognizes it as a missive from the Triskelion. A brief glance and a faint nose wrinkle.

"Duty calls. A pleasure to meet some new faces 'nd see some old ones." Lifting his plain white coffee cup to the group, the Captain then turns and exits the place. Now, somehow, he has to find a place for the coffee. Or to bolt it. Even odds.

Wanda Maximoff has posed:
Wanda Maximoff flashes a small smile to Clarice and nods to her, then leans over to Clint to whisper quietly into his ear. "Clarice is able to teleport. But unlike me where I just move whoever... she opens a portal that you step through. Or, that someone like yourself could shoot arrow through, for instance," she tells him.

Wanda straightens backup and takes another sip of her frappuccino. She looks to Jean, giving just a bit of an expression with some significance and a little touch to her temple. After a few seconds, she thinks, <<Is there any news about those who were kidnapped? Lorna came to give Pietro and I warning.>> If Jean isn't using her power to listen, it won't be heard of course.

Jean Grey has posed:
Jean catches Wanda's thought, and nods, << We got everyone back, but there's... a lot to work through. It's going to take some time. >> Her mental image is a bit grim with that, as Wanda can feel that Jean had to do... something, particularly unsettling.

Or maybe it's the fact that it wasn't that unsettling which is what really is bothering Jean.

Then Jean catches Clarice's question to Artemis, and grins over at the taller woman, "Well, that's a fair question. Did you want to join us and we could talk about that? And other things, too, obviously?" She smiles a little, taking a slight step back from Rachel, focusing more on Artemis as she's definitely looking like she's trying to keep her mind off of something. What, it's hard to say...

Clarice Ferguson has posed:
Being the trusful type that Clarice is she nods at what Wanda says about her. Not that she heard all of it! But well, trustful enough. At least where it comes to the Royals. And she can imagine what's being said. "I have done it recently though.., well, the results weren't the best. But we still managed in the end." who knew there were mutants capable of deflecting Cyclops's beams?! Certainly not Clarice.

And then she goes over to get some coffee for the people that want one, she leaning on the counter with an elbow supporting her and starting to talk with the bartender.

Rachel Summers has posed:
After the greeting from.... well Mom, Rachel gives a hesitant smile. "I helped rescue Mister Stark with the Avengers." she murmurs to Jean, "I found some way to be useful and helpful and they didn't care -what- I was, only that I helped. It felt good." and she beams with some pride before she too steps back from the hug.

Artemis has posed:
A look over at Clarice again and Artemis blinks at that response from blink and then she looks over at Jean who seems to be interested as well. She hmms before she adds, "It is my people but I am not likely going to just start discussing them too openly." She nods her head and then gives Rachel another look. She isn't sure what it is between Jean and Rachel but she isn't going to dig too deeply into it for the moment. She instead turns and nods to Jean, "We could have a seat somewhere if you wish. I was going to go as some here seemed to want privacy but I suppose that can be given by me simply speaking to you."
