Nia is a cub reporter at the Daily Planet. The young trans woman is a half-alien oneiromancer who tries to use her powers to fight evil, while also promoting a better world. She's also shy and somewhat inexperienced, and often feels like she's doing all of this on her own (For now).

Timeline

Timeline:
1998: Nia is born in Parthas, California. Parthas is a small town in the redwoods of northern California where aliens and humans live side-by-side and support eachother. The government and key agencies are aware of them, but most people think Parthas is a normal small liberal California town. Her father is human, while her mother is Naltorian.

2006 : Nia comes out as transgender, and is fully supported by her very loving family.

2006 - 2016 : Nia lives as normal a life as she can. It is expected that her sister will inherit the oneriomancy abilities of her line, as they manifest in a woman of each generation. Nia deals with issues with close-minded people here and there, and it gives her a penchant for justice and sticking up for the underdog. When she graduates High School she is accepted to Georgetown University in DC. Meanwhile, her cousin trains her heavily in hand-to-hand combat so she can defend herself.

2016 - 2019 : Nia attends Georgetown, earning a bachelors in International Relations. She plans to go into politics in some fashion. However, her mother passes away and she ends up inheriting her mother's powers instead of her sister. This causes a rift between her and her sister, and she decides to go into something less overt while learning how to harness her abilities.

2020 : Nia moves to Metropolis and gets a job at the Daily Planet, becoming a cub reporter. She also begins to fight crime as Dreamer, though she has yet to join any organization or become well-known.

Personality

Heroic:
She may be somewhat new to powers, but she's always been a hero. She believes in standing up for people, and fighting for equality. She is a fighter, whether that be social fighting or physical. She holds her head high and fights for what she believes in. She will defend the weak, attempt to topple tyranny, stand up to bullies, etc.

Shy:
She might stand tall, but she usually does it without making eye contact. When not in her Dreamer guise she tends to be shy. She's nervous in social situations and incredibly shy about pursuing romantic interests. It has to do with past rejection and such.

Character Sheet

Powers

Bestowal:
The powers are inherited, which means at a later date she can pass her powers onto to one of her own daughters, should she ever have one. She would lose her powers in the process, though. She would keep her Naltorian physique, however, as that is unrelated.

Naltorian:
Being half-Naltorian comes with certain advantages.
Strength: If pushed, she can lift up to two tons. She's more comfortable around the one ton mark, however. She can also punch through stone and bend steel, etc.

Toughness: She can take one heck of a beating. She can take energy blasts and blows that would obliterate a normal human without much real damage, but she is still far from impervious. Bullets might not bother her, but there are plenty of superpowers out there that can

Oneiromancy:
Nia has the ability to see the future through her dreams. These visions are either symbolic, metaphorical, or sometimes even have rather blurry imagery and are unclear, leaving it up to the dreamer to interpret them. Nia is unable to control or know exactly what's happening in her dreams and where it is happening, and she canot anticipate it. Furthermore, the outcomes a Dreamer sees are far from absolute, and they CAN be changed. In addition, she can do the following:

Precognition: This is a side-effect of her ability to see the future while dreaming. She can get glimpses of the immediate future, which is then used to do things like dodge an imcoming blow or bullet. Sometimes she can see where an enemy is fleeing to, or who the attacker will be, or under which box the prize is. This does NOT always work, and she really has no idea when it will or will not function.

Dream-Walking: She is learning how to enter other dreams. When she is asleep she can leave her own dream and travel into others. They do not need to be beside her, but somewhere in the world sleeping at that time. She can view the person's dream and appear in it. She is learning how to alter the dream as well, so she can put on whatever show or give whatever message she wants.

Oneric Energy Manipulation: Dream energy can be focused outward into the world, creating physical objects. She can manifest these as energy blasts which are strong enough to punch a hole through enhanced alloys (Not Adamantium or similar, of course). She can also create chains, swords and similar melee weapons. She is able to manifest shockwaves and even a shield of blue energy.

Skills

Hand-To-Hand:
She trained a lot as she grew up, and when combined with her precog abilities and superhuman physique, she is dangerous. She has held her own against major antagonists in the past, but is still no match for the superpowered behemoths out there. She is skilled enough to go it alone in day-to- day superheroing, though.

Languages:
She speaks English, and Naltorian fluently. She can also speak conversationally in French and Spanish, and can speak tiny bits in a few different alien languages. This is due to her upbringing in Parthas, and her policial learnings.

Politics:
She has a degree in international relations. She knows the ins and outs of politics, and how they relate to different countries and cultures. This also covers her knowledge of different cultures around the world (And even interstellar, thanks to home!)

Writing:
She spent a bit of time as a political speech-writer for California's first trans stat representative when she was right out of college, before she moved to Metropolis. Now she uses those skills to try and make her articles good. She has a natural flair.

Resources

Apartment:
She has a small apartment in Metropolis. She doesn't make a lot at her pay grade, but she gets by. The studio works for her, even if she feels cooped up compared to back home.

Daily Planet:
Nia is a reporter at the Daily Planet. She's new to it all as of 2020, though, and is still a 'cub reporter'. She tends to be handed fluff pieces and the job of helping out more esteemed reporters. She eventually wants to work up to International things, however, as per her degree.

Parthas:
She may not go home often, but Parthas is still there. A small community in the redwoods of northern California, Parthas is ignored by or unknown to many. The quaint little liberal small town is actually a place where aliens and humans coexist happily. She has a lot of friends from back home, and a place to crash if she really needs it.

Weaknesses

Alien:
She is half-alien. This comes with further issues with some people, in addition to being the target of powers, tech or people who specifically go after extra-terrestrials.

Minority:
She doesn't consider who she is a flaw, but there are certainly bigots out there who would. She is a trans woman, and she does not hide from the fact. She is happy with who she is, even if it brings issues with some.

Narcolepsy:
She has yet to conquer her narcolepsy. Part of her powers revolve around sleep, and she has a habit of nodding off at pretty inopportune times.

Sister:
Her sister was 'supposed' to inherit their mothers powers, but Nia did. They are estranged now, and they're at the point where they could improve things, or they could go further south.
